Description

Title of the invention: APPLICATION DEVICE technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to an application device for applying an application material such as a viscous liquid cosmetic, for example a corrector, onto an application object such as skin. CONTEXT

[0002] For example, KR101074834B1 discloses an application device comprising: a container defining a holding space for an application material such as a liquid cosmetic; a bottom-mounted inner cylinder having a bottom formed with through holes and mounted so as to fit tightly into an internal surface of an orifice in the container and to move in a vertical direction; an applicator housed within the mounted inner cylinder; and a cap detachably mounted on the mounted inner cylinder. The applicator is housed within a space defined by the mounted inner cylinder and the cap, and a measured quantity of application material is drawn into the mounted inner cylinder through the through holes by pulling the mounted inner cylinder upward relative to the container. The application material drawn into the mounted inner cylinder is then attached to the applicator and applied to the application object such as skin. DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION

[0003] However, there is a need for such an application device to prevent the application material from becoming fixed to the applicator before the first use of the application device after purchase. For example, when the applicator includes a brush, a phenomenon of oil separation from the liquid cosmetic is caused by the capillary action of the brush absorbing the liquid cosmetic (for example, under conditions where both are inclined at 45 degrees and left at room temperature for 2 months).

[0004] Therefore, the purpose of this application is to propose an application device to prevent the application material from being fixed to the applicator before first use of the application device after its purchase.

[0005] The present invention employs the following means to solve the above problem. The application device according to the present invention comprises: a container defining a space for holding an application material; an applicator to be detachably mounted on an opening in the container and to which the application material is to be attached; and a protective cap mounted so detachable from the container opening, preventing the applicator from coming into contact with the application material within the container space.

[0006] in which the applicator is mounted detachably on the protective cap.

[0007] According to the present invention, when the protective cap is mounted on the container opening, for example, before the first use of the application device, the protective cap prevents the applicator from coming into contact with the application material. Thus, even during transport and storage, a change in the quality of the application material is prevented by preventing contact between the applicator and the application material, and the applicator remains clean. Furthermore, since the applicator is mounted on the protective cap during transport of the application device, for example, and the protective cap protects the applicator, this prevents the applicator from being damaged by contact with another component caused by vibration of the application device, without the need for an additional protective mechanism. Moreover, since the applicator and protective cap can be mounted on the container opening and the applicator cap can be mounted on the protective cap, there is no need to significantly change the container and applicator designs to combine the protective cap, and the increase in the size of the application device due to the protective cap can be reduced.

[0008] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the applicator may include a first mounting portion to be detachably mounted on the orifice of the container, and

[0009] the protective cap may include a second mounting portion detachably mounted on the container opening, and a third mounting portion on which the first mounting portion is detachably mounted.

[0010] According to the present invention, the protective cap is removed by removing the second mounting portion from the container opening and removing the applicator from the third mounting portion.

[0011] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the third mounting portion can be a surrounding cylinder which surrounds the first mounting portion mounted on the protective cap from the outside.

[0012] According to the present invention, the protective cap can be easily removed from the container together with the applicator, by removing the third mounting portion which surrounds the first mounting portion of the applicator and having an external diameter larger than the external diameter of the first mounting portion,

[0013] when removing the protective cap from the container opening during first use. This improves the operability of the application device.

[0014] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the first mounting portion can be adjusted in a detachable manner inside the third mounting portion.

[0015] According to the present invention, since the first mounting portion is simply fitted inside the third mounting portion, it becomes easier for the applicator to detach from the protective cap. Thus, the operability of the application device can be further improved.

[0016] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the third mounting portion can surround the entire vertical length of the first mounting portion from the outside.

[0017] According to the present invention, since the third mounting portion surrounds the entire length of the first mounting portion, it becomes easier to hold the third mounting portion when removing the protective cap from the container. Thus, the operability of the application device can be further improved.

[0018] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the second mounting portion can be screwed detachably to the orifice, and

[0019] the first mounting portion can be configured to be screwed detachably to the orifice.

[0020] According to the present invention, since the third mounting portion has a larger diameter than the first mounting portion, it becomes easier to rotate the third mounting portion relative to the container opening. Thus, the operability of the application device can be further improved.

[0021] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the orifice may be provided with a male thread, and

[0022] The first and second mounting portions may be provided with female threads configured to be screwed into the male thread.

[0023] According to the present invention, the protective cap is mounted on the orifice by screwing the female thread of the protective cap onto the male thread of the orifice, and the applicator is mounted on the orifice by screwing the female thread of the protective cap onto the male thread of the orifice.

[0024] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the container may include a container body housing the application material, and an internal cylindrical body mounted within the container body,

[0025] the protective cap can be mounted in the mounted internal body, and

[0026] the mounted internal body can surround a tip of the applicator from the outside when The applicator is mounted on the opening of the container.

[0027] According to the present invention, the mounted internal body protects the applicator which is mounted on the orifice of the container after the removal of the protective cap of the container.

[0028] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, a lower end of the protective cap can be fitted inside an opening at the lower end of the mounted internal body

[0029] According to the present invention, since the protective cap can seal the opening at the lower end of the mounted internal body, the protective cap can prevent the application material from flowing into the mounted internal body.

[0030] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, a central portion of the protective cap in a vertical direction can be abutted against an internal surface of the mounted internal body.

[0031] According to the present invention, since the protective cap is against the internal surface of the mounted internal body, the protective cap can be stable inside the mounted internal body.

[0032] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, an upper end of the protective cap is abutted against an internal surface of the mounted internal body.

[0033] According to the present invention, since the protective cap is against the internal surface of the mounted internal body, the protective cap can be stable inside the mounted internal body.

[0034] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the containment space can be provided with an agitator to agitate the application material.

[0035] According to the present invention, the application material can be agitated by shaking the container to move the agitator within the container. If the container includes the mounted inner body, the mounted inner body can protect at least a portion of the applicator from contact with the agitator.

[0036] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the protective cap is reattachable to the orifice of the container.

[0037] According to the present invention, it is possible to remount the protective cap on the container to prevent a change in the quality of the application material when the application device is not used for a long period of time.

[0038] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the protective cap is not reattachable to the orifice of the container.

[0039] According to the present invention, it is possible to identify whether the application device has been opened or not.

[0040] Furthermore, in the application device according to the present invention, the applicator may include an application member to which the application material must be attached, and a mounting cap attached with the application member and to be mounted detachably on an opening of the container and to be mounted detachably on the protective cap.

[0041] According to the present invention, the mounting cap is used as a handle to apply the application material attached to the application member onto an application object. Brief description of the drawings

[0046] The embodiment of the application device according to the present invention will be described with reference to the figures. In the figures used in the following description, each element is scaled accordingly to make each element recognizable.

[0047] As shown in Figures 1 to 4, the application device 1 according to one embodiment of the present application comprises a container 2 which has the shape of a cubic box with its top opening and contains a liquid cosmetic (an application material) C such as a concealer; a protective cap 3 which has a cylindrical shape with a bottom and is detachably mounted on the container 2; and an applicator 4 which has the shape of a circular bar, is detachably mounted on the protective cap 3 and applies the liquid cosmetic C to an application object such as skin. The container 2, the protective cap 3, and the applicator 4 are arranged so that their central axes are aligned on a common axis. Hereinafter, the common axis is referred to as the device axis O.Furthermore, one side of the device axis O, in which the container 2 is located in the application device 1, will be called the proximal side, and the opposite side will be called the distal side. Moreover, a direction that intersects the device axis O will be called the radial direction, and a direction that rotates around the device axis O will be called the circumferential direction.

[0048] The container 2 comprises a container body 11 which has a cubic box shape with its upper opening, a mounted inner cylinder (a mounted inner body) 12 which is mounted on the container body 11 and has a cylindrical shape, and an agitator 13 which is housed in the container body 11 and has a ball shape. The central axes of the container body 11 and the mounted inner cylinder 12 are arranged on the device axis O.

[0049] The container body 11 is formed with PETG, for example, and includes a lower housing 21 which has a cubic box shape with its upper opening, and an upper housing 22 which has a circular tubular shape and is mounted on the upper end of the lower housing 21.

[0050] The lower housing 21 includes a bottom wall 31 which has a square shape in the top view, and an outer wall 32 which has a square tubular shape and extends upwards from the outer peripheral edge of the bottom wall 31. The internal circumferential surface of the upper end of the outer wall 32 is recessed downwards so as to form a step.

[0051] The upper housing 22 includes a top wall 41 which has a square shape in the top view, a first cylindrical fixing portion 42 which has a circular tubular shape and protrudes upwards from an opening edge of a first through hole 41A formed on a central portion of the top wall 41, a second cylindrical fixing portion 43 which has a circular tubular shape and protrudes downwards from the opening edge of the through hole 41A, and a tubular fitting portion 44 which has a square tubular shape and protrudes downwards from a portion of the top wall 41 which is located slightly radially inwards with respect to the outer circumferential edge.

[0052] The top wall 41 closes the upper opening of the lower housing 21. The outer circumferential edge of the top wall 41 is arranged on the step of the outer wall 32, and made to adhere to the outer wall 32.

[0053] The vertical length of the first cylindrical fixing portion 42 is longer than the vertical length of the second cylindrical fixing portion 43. The internal circumferential surface of the upper end of the first cylindrical fixing portion 42 is provided with a first fixing protrusion 42A for mounting the mounted internal cylinder 12, extending over its entire circumference.

[0054] The lower end of the second cylindrical fixing portion 43 is formed by a support projection 43A to prevent the mounted internal cylinder 12 from passing downwards, extending over its entire circumference.

[0055] The tubular adjustment portion 44 is fitted inside the outer wall 32 of the container body 11. The vertical length of the tubular adjustment portion 44 is adjusted so that the tubular adjustment portion 44 does not enter contact with liquid cosmetic C when the application device 1 is on a horizontal surface.

[0056] The mounted internal cylinder 12 is fitted inside the upper housing 22, and includes a cylinder body 51 which has a cylindrical shape with its internal and external diameters gradually decreasing downwards, and a first sealing cylinder 52 which protrudes radially outwards from the external circumferential surface of the cylinder body 51.

[0057] The lower end opening of the cylinder body 51 is a communication hole 51A communicating with the exterior and interior of the mounted inner cylinder 12. The external circumferential surface of a portion of the upper end of the mounted inner cylinder 12 that extends upwards from the first cylindrical fixing portion 42 is formed with a male threaded portion 51B. Thus, the portion of the upper end of the mounted inner cylinder 12 that extends upwards from the first cylindrical fixing portion 42 forms the orifice of the container 2, to which the protective cap 3 is detachably mounted and the applicator 4 is detachably mounted after the removal of the protective cap 3.Furthermore, the internal circumferential surface of a portion of the upper end of the cylindrical body 51, which is located downwards from the male threaded portion 51B, is provided with a first retaining groove 51C that engages with the first retaining protrusion 42A, extending over its entire circumference. The cylindrical body 51 is provided with notches to prevent it from rotating relative to the upper housing 22 around the axis of the device O. The cylindrical body 51 can be tightly fitted inside the upper housing 22 so as not to rotate relative to the upper housing 22 around the axis of the device O.

[0058] The first sealing cylinder 52 extends radially outwards from the outer circumferential surface of the cylinder body 51 and downwards. The first sealing cylinder 52 is fitted inside the second cylindrical mounting portion 43, and the outer circumferential surface of the first sealing cylinder 52 is tightly butted against the second cylindrical mounting portion 43. In addition, there is a gap between the first sealing cylinder 52 and the support protrusion 43A of the second cylindrical mounting portion 43, and the lower end of the first sealing cylinder 52 faces the support protrusion 43A in the vertical direction.

[0059] The agitator 13 is a ball made of metal such as SUS. The size of the agitator 13 is larger than that of the communication hole 51A of the mounted internal cylinder 12 so that the agitator 13 cannot pass through the communication hole 51A.

[0060] The protective cap 3 has a cylindrical shape with its internal and external diameters gradually decreasing downwards, and is detachably mounted on the mounted internal cylinder 12. The protective cap 3 includes a cap body 61 which has a cylindrical shape, a first connecting ring 62 which extends radially outwards from the external circumferential edge of the cap body 61 and has an annular shape, a surrounding cylinder 62 which extends upwards from the external circumferential edge of the first connecting ring 62, and a lower mounting cylinder 64 which extends downwards from the first connecting ring 62 to a position slightly radially inwards from the external circumferential edge of the first connecting ring 62.

[0061] The cap body 61 has a cylindrical shape with its internal and external diameters gradually decreasing downwards, and the lower end of the cap body 61 protrudes downwards from the communication hole 51A of the mounted inner cylinder 12. The lower end of the cap body 61 is fitted onto the opening edge of the communication hole 51A of the mounted inner cylinder 12; in other words, the lower end of the cap body 61 is fitted inside the communication hole 51A, and blocks the communication of the liquid cosmetic C between the inside and outside of the mounted inner cylinder 12 through the communication hole 51A of the mounted inner cylinder 12. Furthermore, the external surfaces of the upper end and the central portion in the axis of the device O are abutted against the internal surface of the cylinder body 51.

[0062] The first connecting ring 62 is abutted or close to the upper edge of the mounted inner cylinder 12. The outer circumferential surface of the surrounding cylinder 63 is located radially outwards from the outer circumferential surface of the lower mounting cylinder 64. The inner circumferential surface of the lower mounting cylinder 64 is provided with a first female thread portion 64A threaded with the first male thread 51B of the mounted inner cylinder 12. The lower edge of the lower mounting cylinder 64 is abutted or close to the upper edge of the first cylindrical fixing portion 42 of the container 2. Thus, the lower mounting cylinder 64 configures a second mounting portion which is detachably mounted on the orifice of the container 2 (the portion of the upper end of the mounted inner cylinder 12 which protrudes upwards from the first cylindrical fixing portion 42).

[0063] The applicator 4 includes a mounting cap 71 which has a cylindrical shape surmounted, and an application member 72 mounted inside the mounting cap 71.

[0064] The mounting cap 71 is formed of PETG, for example, and includes a sleeve body 81 which has a topped cylindrical shape, and a second connecting ring 82 which extends radially outwards from the lower edge of the sleeve body 81, an upper mounting cylinder 83 which has a cylindrical shape and extends downwards from the outer circumferential edge of the second connecting ring 82, and a second sealing cylinder 84 which has a cylindrical shape and extends from the second connecting ring 82 to a position radially inwards from the upper mounting cylinder 83.

[0065] The inner circumferential surface of the handle body 81 is provided with a second fixing recess 81A extending around its entire circumference. Thus, the applicator member 72 is fitted inside the lower end of the handle body 81.

[0066] The upper mounting cylinder 83 is detachably fitted into the surrounding cylinder 63. Thus, the surrounding cylinder 63 constitutes a third mounting portion onto which the upper mounting cylinder 83 is detachably fitted. The upper mounting cylinder 83 can be mounted onto the surrounding cylinder 63 in various ways other than by fitting the upper mounting cylinder 83 into the surrounding cylinder 63, such as snapping or threading the upper mounting cylinder 83 onto the surrounding cylinder 63. The entire length of the upper mounting cylinder 83 is enclosed by the surrounding cylinder 63. The inner circumferential surface is provided with a second female thread 83A which can be threaded with the first male thread 51B of the mounted inner cylinder 12. The lower edge of the upper mounting cylinder 83 is abutted against or close to the upper surface of the first connecting ring 62 of the protective cap 3.The length of the upper mounting cylinder 83 in the vertical direction is identical to that of the surrounding cylinder 63 in the vertical direction. Thus, the upper mounting cylinder 83 configures a first mounting portion which must be detachably mounted on the opening of the container (the portion of the upper end of the mounted inner cylinder 12 which protrudes upwards from the first cylindrical mounting portion 42).

[0067] The second sealing cylinder 84 is configured to be able to be fitted inside the mounted inner cylinder 12 after removal of the protective cap 3 from the mounted inner cylinder 12.

[0068] The application member 72 includes a sleeve 91 which has a cylindrical shape and a brush 92 mounted on the sleeve 91.

[0069] The sleeve 101 is made of PP, for example, and includes an upper cylinder 101 which has a cylindrical shape and is fitted inside the mounting cap 71, and a lower cylinder 102 which has a cylindrical shape and on which is mounted the brush 102, and a flange 103 formed on a connecting portion between the upper cylinder 91 and the lower cylinder 92.

[0070] The external circumferential surface of the lower end of the upper cylinder 101 is provided with a second fixing protuberance 101A engaging with the second fixing recess 81 A, extending over its entire circumference.

[0071] The intermediate portion of the lower cylinder 102 in the vertical direction is provided with a partition 102A that divides the internal space of the lower cylinder 102 into two parts. The upper space of the lower cylinder 102 above the partition 102A communicates with the internal space of the upper cylinder 101, and the lower space of the lower cylinder 102 below the partition 102A is a space in which the brush 92 is to be mounted.

[0072] The flange 103 is abutted or close to a small protrusion 82A provided on the lower surface of the internal circumferential edge of the second connecting ring 82.

[0073] The brush 102 is made of PBT, for example, and is inserted into the space of the lower cylinder 92 of the sleeve 91 below the partition 102A. The brush 92 is housed in the protective cap 3. Furthermore, the brush 92 is configured so that the tip of the brush 92 protrudes from the communication hole 51A of the mounted inner cylinder 12 after the protective cap 3 is removed from the container 2 and the applicator 4 is mounted on the container 2. In other words, part of the brush 92, with the exception of the tip of the brush 92, is protected by the mounted inner cylinder 12.

[0074] Next, the use of the application device 1 with such a configuration will be described. The protective cap 3 is first removed. The user grasps the cylinder surrounding the protective cap 3, 63, and rotates the protective cap 3 and the applicator 4 mounted on the protective cap 3 relative to the container 2 around the axis of the device O. Then, the first male thread 64A formed on the lower mounting cylinder 64 of the protective cap 3 is disengaged from the first male thread 51B formed on the upper end of the mounted inner cylinder 12, and the protective cap 3 and the applicator 4 are detached from the container 2.Since the outer circumferential surface of the surrounding cylinder 63 is located radially outside the outer circumferential surface of the lower mounting cylinder 64, the user can rotate the protective cap 3 more easily than in the case of grasping and rotating the lower mounting cylinder 64 relative to the container 2 around the device axis O. Next, the user detaches the applicator 4 from the protective cap 3 by disengaging the upper mounting cylinder 83 from the applicator 4 of the surrounding cylinder 63 of the protective cap 3. The user can remove the protective cap 3 from the container 2 after removing the applicator 4 from the protective cap 3.

[0075] After removing the applicator 4 from the protective cap 3, the user mounts the applicator 4 onto the container 2. The user rotates the applicator 4 relative to the container 2 around the axis of the device O. Then, the second male thread 83A provided on the upper mounting cylinder 83 of the applicator 4 is threaded into the first male thread 51B provided on the upper end of the inner mounting cylinder 12. In this way, the applicator 4 is mounted onto the container 2. When the user shakes or inverts the container 2, the agitator 13 agitates the liquid cosmetic C. Since the tip of the brush 92 protrudes from the mounted inner cylinder 12, the tip of the brush 92 is held in place by the liquid cosmetic C applied to the agitator 13.

[0076] Furthermore, the liquid cosmetic C housed in the container 2 enters the mounted inner cylinder 12 through the communication hole 51A of the mounted inner cylinder 12, and is applied to the brush 92. Then, after removing the applicator 4 from the container 2, the user applies the liquid cosmetic C to the brush 92 on an object such as skin, and after applying the liquid cosmetic C, the user mounts the applicator 4 onto the container 2.

[0077] According to the application device 1 with the above configuration, before the first use of the application device 1, the protective cap 3 can prevent the applicator 4, in particular the brush 92, from coming into contact with the liquid cosmetic C, so that any change in the quality of the liquid cosmetic C due to contact with the applicator 4 can be prevented, and the cleanliness of the liquid cosmetic C can be maintained. Furthermore, the protective cap 3 can protect the applicator 4 so as to prevent the applicator 4 from being damaged during the transport of the application device 1.

[0078] Moreover, since the applicator 4 and the protective cap 3 are configured to be mounted on the mounted inner cylinder 12, it is not necessary to significantly change the designs of the container 2 and the applicator 4 to add the protective cap 3, and the increase in the size of the application device 1 due to the protective cap 3 can be reduced. Because the surrounding cylinder 63 radially surrounds the upper mounting cylinder 83 from the outside, the protective cap 3 can be more easily removed from the opening of the container 2 by rotating the surrounding cylinder 63 relative to the container 2 around the device axis O than by rotating the lower mounting cylinder 64 relative to the container 2 around the device axis O.Moreover, even after the removal of the protective cap 3, since the mounted inner cylinder 12 surrounds the applicator 4, in particular the portion of the brush 92, the mounted inner cylinder 12 can prevent the portion of the brush 92 from coming into contact with the agitator 13 when shaking the application device 1 to agitate. The liquid cosmetic C. Furthermore, since the lower end of the cap body 61 blocks the communication of the liquid cosmetic C between the inside and outside of the mounted inner cylinder 12 through the communication hole 51A of the mounted inner cylinder 12, the protective cap 3 prevents the liquid cosmetic C from flowing into the mounted inner cylinder 12. Moreover, since the external surfaces of the upper end and the central portion in the axis of device O abut against the inner surface of the cylinder body 51, the protective cap 3 can be stabilized inside the mounted inner body 12. In addition, since the protective cap 3 is reattachable to the cap body 61, it is possible to prevent a change in the quality of the liquid cosmetic C when the application device 1 is not used for a long period.

[0079] The inventions of this application are not limited to the embodiments described above, and various modifications of the embodiments described above may be made without departing from the concept of the inventions of this application.

[0080] Cosmetics are not limited to liquids, and may exist in other states such as a semi-liquid state, a powder, or a mixture of liquid and powder. Furthermore, the application material is not limited to cosmetics.

[0081] Although the container comprises the lower housing, the upper housing, and the mounted inner cylinder, the mounted inner cylinder can be omitted, and the container configuration can be changed. It is possible for the internally mounted body not to be cylindrical. Furthermore, the inner cylinder can be configured so that the tip of the application element does not protrude from the communication hole of the mounted inner cylinder.

[0082] Although the protective cap and applicator are threaded onto the container, they can also be snapped onto the container, for example. Furthermore, the lower end of the protective cap may not fit snugly inside the communication hole, and the protective cap may not be fully seated against the inner surface of the cylinder body. In addition, the protective cap may not be reattached to the orifice to easily identify whether the applicator has been used.

[0083] It is possible that the agitator is not housed in the container, and the shape of the agitator is not limited to a sphere shape.

[0084] The shape of the main body of the container is not limited to a square box and can take other shapes such as a barrel shape with its central portion along the axis of the container extending radially outwards.

[0085] Although the applicator has a configuration including the mounting cap, the sleeve, and the brush, the applicator may have other configurations, such as a configuration with a brush directly attached to the mounting cap. Furthermore, the application portion may have other configurations besides a brush, such as an application portion with embedded bristles and an application portion with flocked fibers, a flexible applicator, such as a flexible plastic applicator and a silicone applicator, a molded sponge applicator, and a metallic applicator.
