Adjustable frameless fixing

Abstract

An adjustable frameless fixing, e.g. for mounting a trim panel (202; figs. 2, 3, 5) to a vehicle frame (204; figs. 2, 3, 5) and allowing adjustment in-board and out-board of the vehicle body. The fixing includes: a female part 104; a male part 106; and a lock, e.g. a locking ring 122 with fingers 118. The female part 104 comprises an aperture 110 to receive the male part, with the female and the male parts interacting with each other such that the male part may be arranged at a fixed insertion depth within the aperture relative to the female part, e.g. adjustable within a range of depths of up to 3mm. The male part includes a head 120 having at least one catch 112 to at least temporarily fixingly engage with the lock 122. There may also be a seal 406. The male and female parts may have complementary threads. The catch 112 may include detents 114 about the head, each allowing a 15-degree rotation between the male and female parts. The male part may also include wings 402 to engage with notches 404 on the female part, relative movement between these being audible.
