Abstract
A method is provided for securing the dimensions of a vehicle frame when mounting and / or assembling components under the vehicle bonnet. At least one butterfly-style bonnet flap (6, Figure 2) is fitted to the body of the vehicle, enclosing the frame. A component, such as a memory plate 22, is fixed into position to bind together two or more frame elements (12, 14, Figure 2) so they become rigidly connected to one another in a position accommodating proper fitting of the bonnet flap. The bonnet flap is removed for mounting and / or assembly of components under the bonnet and then replaced following mounting and / or assembly of such components. The frame elements may be wheel supports and mount towers. Preferably two butterfly-style bonnet flaps are provided, with front and rear memory plates for each flap. A car with such a memory plate is also provided.
