Description

Field of the Invention This invention relates to a method and kit for applying cosmetics to the skin of a person. Background to the Invention Many people apply cosmetics to their skin to make the skin appear healthier and betterlooking skin. Hitherto, the application of the cosmetic product has often been undertaken by applying the cosmetic directly to the skin and rubbing it in using a hand. Using a hand to apply a cosmetic can leave finger marks and can also result in an uneven application of cosmetic. Another method is to apply the cosmetic product by way of a spray, although, again, this can result in uneven application, because the spray can miss some areas if not directed appropriately. Additionally, a thin layer of cosmetic may be created because the mist provided by the spray does not properly adhere to the skin. Both of the aforementioned methods can be time-consuming. Summary of the Invention Accordingly, the present invention is directed to a method of applying a cosmetic product to the skin of a person, comprising the steps of providing a cosmetic product to be applied; providing an applicator; and using the applicator to apply the cosmetic product to the skin of a person; wherein, the applicator comprises a handle to which is connected a rotatable cylindrical section. Thus, the present invention can include an applicator in the form of a hand roller, that has a handle section and a cylindrical rotating element. Thus, the handle section is connected to an axis section with the cylindrical rotating element mounted upon that axis and able to rotate therearound. Using the present invention, large sections of skin can be quickly and efficiently provided with a layer of cosmetic product. By applying the cosmetic product using a roller, a more even layer can be applied to the skin, particularly over larger areas, such as the torso, the legs and the arms. Additionally, the application of the product is often quicker than hand application or spraying. Preferably, the cylindrical section of the applicator comprises either a foam material or a fabric material. The user of a foam or fabric material allows the cosmetic product to adhere to the applicator and to be readily dispensed from the applicator onto the skin or a person. Advantageously, the applicator handle is substantially orthogonal to the cylindrical section and the cylindrical section rotates about an axis that is substantially orthogonal to the axis of the handle. Thus, a traditional style roller can be employed, although it will be appreciated that a different angle may be useful in certain situations and / or an adjustable angle. An adjustable angle may be obtained by way of a ball joint connection between the handle and the cylindrical section, which may be lockable at a desired position. Alternatively, or additionally, one or more pivoting joints can be employed. It is preferable that the cylindrical section of the applicator comprises a closed end. Whilst the end of the roller may be open, this can allow cosmetic material inside the cylindrical section, which may be difficult to clean. Thus, preferable at least one end is closed, which is to say that the material from which the cylindrical section is made creates a sheath or sleeve to envelope the axis upon which it is mounted. In one arrangement, the cosmetic product is dispensed into a tray, and the rotatable cylinder is rolled in the cosmetic product to apply the cosmetic product to the external surface of the rotatable cylinder. Thus, a tray is provided from which the product can be applied to the applicator, which then applies the cosmetic to the skin of a person. Using a tray provides a larger surface area of product, rather than dispensing the product from a container directly onto the applicator. It is envisaged that the applicator, or roller, may be provided with a holder to attach the cosmetic product thereto. This can allow the user to readily store the product with the applicator. The holder, which may be in the form of a clip or holster, can also be arranged so that the cosmetic product can be dispensed from the stowed position, for example, into the tray. In another arrangement, the cosmetic product is connected to the applicator and can be dispensed onto the rotatable cylinder. The user may be able to connect the cosmetic product to the applicator and to dispense the cosmetic product directly onto the cylindrical part of the applicator, or roller. Thus, the roller may include a dispensing section that has an inlet and an outlet. The inlet can be adapted to receive the end of a cosmetic product container and the outlet is arranged to be broad, or wide, so that the product is dispensed over the length of the roller. Therefore, the inlet may have a single inlet aperture, and the outlet may comprise a plurality of small apertures, with the small apertures having a smaller diameter than the inlet. A channel connects the inlet with the plurality of outlets, such that dispensing of the cosmetic product from the container and into inlet can force the cosmetic product through the outlets and onto the roller. In a further step, the method may include that after the cosmetic product has been applied to a person’s skin, a predetermined amount of time is allowed to lapse before removing the cosmetic product. The cosmetic product may be washed off with water or another solvent, or it may be peeled or exfoliated from the skin. Therefore, a body or skin peel can be applied using the applicator of the present invention, before then being removed after a predetermined period of time. The invention extends to a kit comprising: a cosmetic product; and an applicator comprising a handle connected to a rotatable cylindrical section. The kit may further comprise a tray for receiving the cosmetic product prior to application to the cylindrical section. Thus, the invention extends to a kit that includes the necessary products to put the method into effect, namely, the cosmetic product and an applicator, such as a roller. The kit may include a tray into which the cosmetic product can be dispensed, and, in some arrangements, the kit may further include a clip and / or a dispenser to connect the cosmetic product to the applicator and / or to dispense the product onto or into the applicator. Brief Description of the Drawings An embodiment / Embodiments of the invention will now be described, by way of example only, and with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an image of a kit used in the method of the present invention; Figure 2 is an image of a step in the present invention; and Figure 3 is an image of a further step of the present invention. Detailed Description of Exemplary Embodiments Figures 1 to 3 show a kit 10 comprising a bottle of cosmetic product 12, an applicator 14 and a tray 16. The cosmetic product 12 is a product that is to be applied to the skin of a person. The applicator 14 comprises a handle section 18 that has a length and a width. The length of the handle section 18 is greater than its width. Extending from the handle section 18 is a rigid metal extension 20 that initially extends axially from the handle section 18, before extending radially of the axis of the handle section 18, before extending perpendicularly relative to the axis of the handle section 18. Thus, the metal extension 20 has a substantially L-shaped profile, in that a first section 22 extends from the handle section 18, and a second section 24 creates an axis non-parallel, or preferably perpendicular, to the axis of the handle 18. A cylindrical roller section 26 is applied to the second section 24 of the metal extension 20, with the roller section 26 being able to rotate around the second section 26. The roller section 26 has a first end 28 with an aperture therein, and a second end 30 that is closed and has a domed surface. The roller section 26 comprises a foam material. The tray 16 is substantially rectangular, with a width that is slightly greater than the length of the roller section 26, thereby allowing the roller section 26 to roll inside the tray 16. The length of the tray 16 is greater than the circumference of the roller section 26, thereby allowing for more than one complete rotation of the roller section 26 on the surface of the tray 16. The tray has a first section 32 with a first depth and a second section 34 with a second depth. The tray 16 and applicator 14, or roller, are similar to those used in painting and decorating. To use the kit 10, the cosmetic product 12 is dispensed into the tray 16 and the roller 14 is primed by rolling the roller section 26 in the cosmetic product 12. This applies, or loads, the cosmetic product 12 to the outside of the roller section 26. As shown in Figures 2 and 3, the cosmetic product 12 is applied to a person’s skin 38 by rolling the roller section 26 over the skin 38. This dispenses the cosmetic product 12 from the roller section 26 onto the user’s skin 38. It is preferable to apply the cosmetic product from the ankle up, using an upwards motion to ensure an even coverage over the skin 38. The roller section 26 can be used to apply a layer of cosmetic product 12 across the stomach and arms. It will be appreciated that, where needed, the roller section 26 can be placed, and rolled, in the tray 16 to apply more cosmetic 12 to the roller section 26. Once the cosmetic product 12 has been applied to the skin 38, it can be left to soak into the skin 38, or, where necessary, it can be left for a predetermined time period, before being removed. The time may be four minutes or more. The removal step may involve rinsing with water, for example, a warm shower, or using a frictional force to remove the cosmetic, for example, by scrubbing the skin 38. Oil can then be applied to the skin 38, for example, dry body oil, to ensure a desirable finish. It will be appreciated that the metal extension may comprise a different material, such as plastics material. Similarly, other parts of the roller may comprise different materials. The handle may be adapted to stow the cosmetic product therein. The cosmetic product may be a tanning lotion, skin mask, moisturiser, creams, lotions and scrubs, or another type of cosmetic product. The cosmetic product is, preferably, a skincare product or a make-up product.
