Description

Detailed Description of the Invention

[0001] [Technical field] The present invention relates to the field of cosmetic compositions that protect against UV light, in particular cosmetic compositions that preferably contain UV filters such as those marketed as PARSOL® HS by DSM Nutritional Products Ltd.

[0002] [Background of the invention] There has been a long-standing trend away from elegant paleness towards a "healthy, sporty brown skin". To achieve this, people expose their skin to the sun's rays, which cause pigmentation in the sense of melanogenesis. However, the ultraviolet radiation of sunlight also has a damaging effect on the skin. In addition to acute damage (sunburn), overexposure of the skin to light in the UV(B) range (wavelength: 280-315 nm) can also cause long-term damage, such as an increased risk of skin cancer. Overexposure to UV(B) and UV(A) radiation (wavelength: 315-400 nm) also reduces the strength of the elastin and collagen fibers of the connective tissue. This causes many phototoxic and photoallergic reactions, which result in premature aging of the skin.

[0003] Therefore, a range of photoprotective screening substances have been developed that can be used in cosmetic formulations to protect the skin.

[0004] The ability of a cosmetic composition to protect the skin from UV radiation is typically expressed in terms of the Sun Protection Factor (SPF).

[0005] Enthrizole is a very important UV(B) filter, but has only limited ability to protect against UV(A) light.

[0006] Enthrizole becomes very soluble in water when neutralized to a pH above 7. Typical neutralizing agents are NaOH or amines such as triethanolamine or tromethamine.

[0007] When UV protection cosmetic composition is exposed to water, as occurs during bathing, UV filters are usually removed from skin to a great extent, thereby reducing the ability to protect against UV light. This can be expressed as a significant reduction in the SPF of composition. In particular, it has been found that ensulizole is prone to be removed in this way by exposure to water.

[0008] FR 3073407 A1 discloses a photoprotective composition comprising a specific acrylate polymer, an ester of dextrin and a UV filter. In examples 1 and 4, the composition comprises the UV filters phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid and isohexadecane, among other UV filters. The SPF of the compositions is measured and compared immediately after preparation. However, FR 3073407 A1 does not disclose mixtures of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes, nor does it concern the water resistance of the photoprotective composition.

[0009] However, the water resistance of sun protection products is an important requirement for today's sunscreens and can be improved, for example, by adding film-forming polymers, but such film-forming polymers are either insufficiently effective, as outlined, for example, in DE 102010063825 A1, and / or the resulting organoleptic properties make the products less attractive for the end consumer, since such products often have an oily, heavy and sticky feel on the skin.

[0010] [Summary of the invention] Therefore, the problem to be solved is to obtain an ultraviolet protective cosmetic composition containing the UV filter ensulsol and having significantly improved water resistance.

[0011] Surprisingly, it has been found that the cosmetic composition according to claim 1 is able to solve this problem.

[0012] It has been shown that the water resistance of UV-protective cosmetic compositions containing ensulizole can be significantly improved by adding a specific mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes and esters of fatty acids with dextrin. This solution has been found to be a very sustainable and advantageous approach to this problem, in particular, since the preferred mixture of C15-C19 alkanes can be obtained from biological sources. It is therefore possible to provide cosmetic compositions with a high sun protection factor (SPF) and significantly improved water resistance.

[0013] It has been found that when the UV filter Enthrisol is combined with other UV filters, the water resistance is improved even more significantly.

[0014] In particular, it has been found that a particular mixture of linear and branched saturated C15-C19 alkanes is important for enhancing the water resistance of cosmetic compositions.

[0015] Furthermore, it was found that by adding a specific mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes and an ester of a fatty acid and dextrin, a cosmetic composition containing ensulsol with reduced sand adhesion can be obtained.

[0016] Further aspects of the invention are the subject matter of further independent claims. Particularly preferred embodiments are the subject matter of the dependent claims.

[0017] [Detailed Description of the Invention] In a first aspect, the present invention provides a cosmetic composition comprising: - Formula (I) [ka] UV filters or their salts; - a mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes; - Ester of fatty acid and dextrin wherein the amount of branched saturated C15-C19 alkane in the mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes is greater than 80% by weight, preferably greater than 90% by weight, and most preferably greater than 92% by weight.

[0018] In this specification, "C x~y An "alkyl" group is an alkyl group containing x to y carbon atoms, i.e., for example, C 1~3 An alkyl group is an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms. An alkyl group can be straight or branched. For example, -CH(CH3)-CH2-CH3 is considered a C4 alkyl group.

[0019] Similarly, "C x~y An "alkylene" group is an alkylene group containing x to y carbon atoms, i.e., for example, C 1~3 An alkylene group is an alkylene group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms. An alkylene group can be straight or branched. For example, -CH2-CH2-CH2- and -CH(CH3)-CH2- and -C(CH2-CH3)- and -C(CH3)2- are all considered to be C3 alkylene groups.

[0020] In this specification, when the same designation for a symbol or group occurs in several formulas, the definition of said group or symbol given in relation to one particular formula also applies to other formulas containing the same said designation.

[0021] The term "UV filter" in this specification refers to a substance that absorbs ultraviolet light (=UV light), i.e. electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 280-400 nm. A UV(A) filter is a UV filter that absorbs UV(A) light, i.e. electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 315-400 nm. A UV(B) filter is a UV filter that absorbs UV(B) light, i.e. electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of 280-315 nm.

[0022] Liquid organic UV filters are liquid at ambient temperature (ie 25° C.).

[0023] Solid organic UV filters are solid at ambient temperature (ie 25° C.).

[0024] By "mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes" in this specification is meant that the mixture comprises different alkanes, each of which contains only 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19 carbon atoms, and does not contain any alkanes below that number of carbon atoms. Thus, this type of mixture does not contain, for example, dodecane or isododecane. The mixture comprises both branched and linear C15-C19 alkanes.

[0025] [UV filter of formula (I)] The present cosmetic composition comprises a composition represented by formula (I) [ka] Contains a UV filter.

[0026] The UV filter of formula (I) (CAS: [27503-81-7]) is a solid with a melting point of 1>300° C. It is also known as phenylbenzimidazole sulfonic acid (INCI name) and ensulizole.

[0027] Enthrizole is a strong UV(B) light filter that specifically absorbs light in the 280-340 nm region with an absorption maximum at 302 nm.

[0028] Enthrizole is a UV filter that is widely used in sun protection products. Enthrizole is water-soluble and is therefore often used in products that are formulated to be light and less oily. Due to its poor absorption properties for UV(A) light, it is usually used in combination with other UV filters, especially UV(A) filters, especially avobenzone.

[0029] Enthrisol is commercialized under the trademark EUSOLEX® 232 by Merck KGaA and, inter alia, under the trademark Parsol® HS by DSM Nutritional Products Ltd.

Therefore, Bisoctrizole is a complex UV absorber and an organic UV filter that is manufactured as fine (<200nm) organic particles. Even if other organic UV filters need to be dissolved in either oily or aqueous phases, Bisoctrizole is applied as invisible particles because it is difficult to dissolve in either.

[0105] Preferred solid organic UV(A) filters are UV(A) filters selected from the group consisting of bisethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate and trisbiphenyl triazine.

[0106] Preferred solid organic UV(B) filters are UV(B) filters selected from the group consisting of ethylhexyl triazone (=Uvinul® T150), diethylhexylbutamido triazone (=Uvasorb® HEB) and 4-methylbenzylidene camphor (=Parsol® 5000).

[0140] The term "topical" as used herein is understood to mean external application to keratinous materials, in particular the skin, scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, nails, mucous membranes and hair, preferably the skin.

[0141] Since topical compositions are intended for topical application, it is well understood that they comprise a physiologically acceptable medium, i.e. a medium that is compatible with the skin, mucous membranes and keratinous materials such as keratinous fibers. In particular, physiologically acceptable solvents are cosmetically acceptable carriers.

[0142] The term "cosmetically acceptable carrier" refers to any carrier and / or excipient and / or diluent conventionally used in cosmetic compositions, in particular sun protection products.

[0143] Preferably, the cosmetic composition is a skin care formulation, a decorative formulation or a functional formulation.

[0150] The cosmetic composition has improved sensory properties, in particular improved feel after application.

[0151] In one embodiment, the cosmetic composition is in the form of a gel.

[0152] The cosmetic composition described above has been shown to have improved water resistance. It has been shown that the addition of the mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes described above in combination with the ester of fatty acid and dextrin detailed above to a cosmetic composition containing the UV filter ensulisole improves water resistance.

[0153] Furthermore, the above-mentioned cosmetic composition has been shown to have reduced stickiness. It has been observed that the stickiness is significantly reduced after a long time, i.e., after more than 3 minutes, particularly after more than 15 minutes, has passed after the cosmetic composition has been applied. It has been observed that the skin to which the cosmetic composition has been applied has significantly reduced stickiness, and in particular, sand is less likely to adhere to it. This is particularly important for its use on sandy beaches.

[0154] Thus, in a further aspect, the present invention provides a compound comprising at least one of formula (I) [ka] The present invention relates to the use of a mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes in combination with an ester of a fatty acid and a dextrin to improve the water resistance of a topical cosmetic composition comprising a UV filter of the present invention, wherein the amount of branched saturated C15-C19 alkanes in said mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes is more than 80% by weight, preferably more than 90% by weight, most preferably more than 92% by weight.

[0155] Preferably, said use comprises a compound of formula R 1 OR 1 Dialkyl ethers of formula R 3 OOCR 2 COOR 3 and diesters of dicarboxylic acids of formula R 4 COOR 5 and aliphatic monoesters of the formula R 6 COOR 7 and more preferably at least one emollient selected from the group consisting of esters of formula R 1 OR 1 Dialkyl ethers of formula R3 OOCR 2 COOR 3 and diesters of dicarboxylic acids of formula R 4 COOR 5 At least one emollient selected from the group consisting of aliphatic monoesters is included.

[0156] The definition and selection of ingredients are as already detailed above.

[0157] [Example] The following examples are provided to further illustrate the compositions and effects of the present invention. These examples are illustrative only and are not intended to limit the scope of the invention in any way.

[0158] The cosmetic compositions outlined in Table 1 or Table 2 were prepared according to standard methods in the art.

[0159] [water resistance] 1.3 mg / cm of each of the compositions outlined in Table 1 or Table 2 2 was applied to four PMMA plates (Schoenberg, 5 μm) and the plates were dried at RT for 30 min. The initial in vitro SPF (Sun Protection Factor) (SPF inital The plate was then immersed in a flask filled with 4 L of water (double distilled) for 20 min, during which the water temperature was 30°C and the water was stirred with a paddle stirrer for 150 min. -1 (The plate was attached to the edge of the flask with a clothespin, with the surface coated with the composition facing the flask). The plate was then dried at 40° C. for 30 minutes. The soaking / drying procedure was repeated one more time. After the final drying, the SPF immersed The in vitro SPF was measured as the standard deviation, and the water resistance (WR) was measured as the standard deviation. WR=[(SPF immersed / (SPF inital )] It was calculated as:

[0160] The results are shown in Tables 1 and 2.

[0161] [Table 1]

[0162] The results in Table 1 show that the cosmetic composition containing ensulisole (Reference Example 1) has poor water resistance, as can be seen from the measured SPF. When the composition further contains a mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes, the water resistance is slightly improved (Reference Example 2 vs. Reference Example 1). Comparing Reference Examples 5 and 1, it can be seen that the specific mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes has a beneficial effect on the water resistance of the cosmetic composition. When the composition further contains an ester of a fatty acid with dextrin, the water resistance is significantly improved (1, 2 vs. Reference Example 2).

[0163] Reference Examples 3 and 4 show that a specific mixture of branched and linear saturated C15-C19 alkanes has a beneficial effect. For example, on the one hand, when branched isododecane (C12) (Reference Example 3) is used instead of the mixture (C15-C19) (1), water resistance is significantly reduced. On the other hand, when a very specific single type of alkane, such as isohexadecane (C16) (Reference Example 4), is used instead of a mixture, instead of the very specific mixture (C15-C19) (1), water resistance is also reduced. This clearly shows that in order to improve the water resistance of a cosmetic composition containing ensulisole, which is a UV filter, it is important not only to use an ester of a fatty acid and dextrin, but also to use a very specific mixture of C15-C19 alkanes.

[0164] The compositions of Table 2 contain four UV filters (shown in italics in the table below).

[0165] [Table 2]

[0166] Table 2 confirms the results of Table 1 with more complex formulations and the results show that the SPF is significantly improved. In this case, the improvement in water resistance is even more significant than in Table 1.
