Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing tools such as drills, end mills, and taps. [Background technology]
[0002] Generally, the surfaces of tools such as drills are coated with a hard film. Before coating with such a hard film, the surface of the tool is polished by shot blasting using various types of blasting materials to make the surface as smooth as possible. This is because the surface properties (surface roughness) of the tool base material are directly reflected in the properties of the hard film in the coating process (see Patent Documents 1 to 3). At this time, by using a soft resin as the blasting material, the impact from the shot blasting process can be absorbed and the blasting material can slide on the surface of the tool base material without damaging it. [0003] [Patent Document 1] JP 2007-268656 A [Patent Document 2] JP 2018-001144 A [Patent Document 3] Patent Publication No. 2021-074654 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] However, when the shot material (media) used in the shot blasting process contains resin, the resin is soft and is scraped off as it slides over the surface of the tool substrate, or is broken down by the impact of the shot blasting process, resulting in the resin adhering to the tool substrate. As a result, the fine resin dispersed on the surface of the tool substrate remains in the coating process, significantly affecting the surface properties of the hard coating. In addition, the remaining resin generates gas during the coating process, inducing abnormal discharge and damaging the surface of the tool substrate.
[0005] Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing a tool that can smooth the surface of a hard coating that is applied to the surface. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the method for manufacturing a tool of the present invention is formed by a first step of shot blasting the surface of a tool substrate using a blasting material containing a resin, a second step of immersing the tool substrate in a liquid containing hydrogen peroxide, and a third step of coating the surface of the tool substrate with a hard film. The blasting material may further contain either diamond or silicon carbide (SiC). An intermediate step of cleaning the liquid containing hydrogen peroxide adhering to the surface of the tool substrate may be added between the second and third steps. Effect of the Invention
[0007] The method for manufacturing a tool of the present invention is characterized in that when the surface of a tool substrate such as high-speed tool steel or alloy steel is subjected to shot blasting treatment using a resin-containing projection material, dirt adhering to the surface of the tool substrate is removed with a liquid containing hydrogen peroxide.
[0008] In other words, the reduction reaction of hydrogen peroxide water generates bubbles in the gap between the tool substrate (the object to be cleaned) and the dirt, which makes it possible to peel off the attached dirt. Therefore, in the subsequent third process of coating the surface of the tool substrate with a hard coating, the surface of the tool substrate is sufficiently cleaned, which increases the adhesion between the tool substrate and the hard coating and ensures a smooth surface for the hard coating. [Diagram 2] 5 is a schematic diagram showing the surface state of the tool substrate W in a second step. FIG. [0010] An embodiment of the method for producing a tool of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 is a schematic diagram showing the surface state of the tool substrate W after the first step of the method for producing a tool of the present invention, Fig. 2 is a schematic diagram showing the surface state of the tool substrate W in the second step, Fig. 3 is a schematic diagram showing the surface state of the tool substrate W after the second step, and Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram showing the surface state of the tool T after the third step.
[0011] First, the surface of a tool substrate W that has been shot blasted using a resin-containing blasting material (first step of the present invention) has dirt P caused by the resin of the blasting material adhering to the surface S, as shown in Fig. 1. Next, the tool substrate W is immersed in a liquid (chemical agent) containing hydrogen peroxide (second step of the present invention), causing a chemical reaction of the hydrogen peroxide starting from the surface S, as shown in Fig. 2, generating a large number of fine bubbles. The impact of the bursting of these bubbles causes the dirt P to float from the tool substrate W and be removed.
[0012] After the second step is completed, the tool substrate W is taken out of the liquid containing the hydrogen peroxide solution, washed, and then thoroughly dried. The dried tool substrate W has its surface free of dirt as shown in Fig. 3, making it possible to prepare a highly clean tool substrate W. Finally, as shown in Fig. 4, a hard coating C is coated on the surface of the tool substrate W using a coating device or the like (the third step of the present invention).
[0013] The tool of the present invention can be applied to various tools such as cutting tools, gear cutting tools, rolling tools (rolling tools), etc. The base material of the tool is preferably high-speed tool steel or alloy steel. [Explanation of symbols]
