Description

[Technical field]

[0001] The present invention relates to the finishing of wooden barrels, and more particularly to a finishing device used to scrape off and activate the surface layer on the inside of a barrel after the barrel has been carbonized. [Background technology]

[0002] Wooden barrels are used to age whiskey and other western liquors, as well as wine. These barrels are made by drying wood, cutting it into planks, and then fitting the planks into iron rings to form the barrel shape. The inside surface of the barrel is hardened. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a technique in which a barrel is placed horizontally on rollers and the inner surface is carbonized while being rotated. Barrels made in this way are used to fill with whiskey, wine, etc. and allow them to age. This allows the components of the barrel to seep into the whiskey or wine, resulting in a whiskey or wine that takes advantage of the barrel's unique characteristics. However, this long period of aging reduces the compounds in the wood, making the inner surface layer of the barrel less active. In such cases, the inside surface of the used barrel is hardened and carbonized, and then the surface layer is scraped off to remove the surface layer with reduced component content, allowing the barrel to be activated and reused.

[0003] The conventional method for scraping off the carbonized inner surface layer with a grinder has been to place the material horizontally on a roller and rotate it while using the grinder to scrape off the carbonized inner surface layer. This not only caused shavings to fly back and forth, creating a poor working environment, but also made it difficult to check the quality of the shavings, which often resulted in leftover shavings. In addition, when the barrel is placed upright and rotated, the height of the device increases, making it difficult to visually check the scraping progress. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]

[0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2010-12690 A Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0005] To provide a barrel finishing device which improves the working environment and facilitates checking the quality of scraping when scraping off the inner surface layer of a wooden barrel and performing activation treatment on the same. [Means for solving the problem]

[0006] The barrel finishing device of the present invention is characterized by having a barrel holding device, a tilting device for tilting and controlling the holding device, and a scraping device for scraping off the inner surface layer of the barrel.

[0007] The barrel holding device here holds the barrel so that it can be rotated and the tilting device allows the barrel to be rotated in a tilted state. The present invention is characterized in that the barrel is rotated while being tilted at an angle.

[0008] A barrel generally has a center that bulges outward more than the bottom and top, and has iron rings fitted around the outside. Therefore, in the present invention, it is preferable that the barrel holding device has an upper holding frame that holds the upper side of the barrel, a lower holding frame that holds the lower side of the barrel, and a rotational support part that rotates the barrel. There are no limitations on the structure of the rotating support part as long as it can tilt the barrel and rotate it together with the holding device. This means that even if the iron ring comes off when the barrel is tilted and rotated, it can be securely held in place by the upper and lower retaining frames.

[0009] In the present invention, the scraping operation can be performed manually, but it is preferable that the scraping device has a grinder, a support arm that supports the grinder, a moving device that moves the support arm up and down, and an angle adjustment shaft that adjusts the angle of the support arm.

[0010] The barrel finishing method of the present invention includes the steps of attaching the barrel, whose inner surface has been carbonized, to a holding device, tilting the barrel 30° to 60° using a tilting device, rotating the barrel, and scraping off the inner surface layer of the rotating barrel with a scraping device, thereby activating the inner surface of the barrel. Effect of the Invention

[0011] In the present invention, the barrel is held and rotated in an inclined position, so that the scraps fall by their own weight, making it easy to check the scraping quality from the upper opening of the barrel. Furthermore, even if any areas remain unshaved, they can be easily corrected by hand. [Brief description of the drawings]

[0012] [Figure 1] 1 shows an example of the configuration of a finishing device according to the present invention. [Diagram 2] (a) shows a barrel being placed into the holding device, and (b) shows the upper holding frame being lowered to secure the barrel in place. [Diagram 3] (a) shows the holding device tilted to tilt the barrel, and (b) shows the inner surface layer being scraped off with a grinder. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

[0013] An example of the configuration of the barrel finishing device according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to this embodiment as long as it can hold the barrel at an angle and control its rotation.

[0014] FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of the finishing device. The apparatus has a barrel holding device 10 for mounting and holding a barrel 1, and this holding device 10 has a rotation support part 15 that can control the rotation of the barrel while holding it. The finishing device further includes a tilting device 20 for tilting the barrel 1 while it is held by the holding device. It also has a scraping device 30 equipped with a grinder for scraping off the surface layer of the inside (inner peripheral surface) of the barrel 1.

[0015] The barrel holding device 10 has a lower holding frame 12 for holding the outer periphery of the lower side of the barrel 1 and an upper holding frame 11 for holding the outer periphery of the upper side of the barrel 1. In this example, the upper and lower holding frames 11, 12 are formed as doughnut-shaped plates, but are not limited to this as long as they can hold and secure the barrels. The upper holding frame 11 is supported relative to the lower holding frame 12 by a combination of multiple support pillars 13a, 13b, 13c, ... and support shafts 14a, 14b, 14c, ... that can move up and down. A barrel 1 is placed inside the holding device 10 as shown in Figure 2(a), and the upper holding frame 11 is lowered as shown in (b) to secure the barrel 1 in place. The outer diameter of the barrel 1 gradually becomes larger at the lower central part than at the opening, so it is fixed by tightening it while matching the inner dimensions of the circular opening provided in the upper holding frame 11.

[0016] The tilting device 20 rotatably supports the base portion 21 on both sides by bearing portions 21b and shafts 21a and is connected to the tilting arm 22 so that the holding device 10 can be rotated by the rotation support portion 15 while being tilted to the right in FIG. 1. The tilt arm 22 is intended to support the tilted base and may be manual or motorized. In this embodiment, when the barrel 1 tilts to a predetermined angle, a stopper frame 23 connected to the base portion 21 comes into contact with a locking portion 24 on the stand side to prevent the barrel 1 from tilting any further. The inclination angle of the barrel 1 is preferably in the range of 30 to 60 degrees, and in this embodiment, it is set to 45 degrees.

[0017] The grinding device 30 comprises a support arm 32 having an electric grinder 31 attached to its tip, and the rear end of the support arm 32 is axially attached to a support bracket 33 . In addition, by connecting an angle adjustment shaft 34 to the middle of the support arm 32, the position of the grinder in the front-rear direction can be controlled by the length of this angle adjustment shaft. In addition, the support bracket 33 moves up and down according to the height (position) of the inside of the barrel 1 to be scraped off. In this embodiment, a stand is made of a frame material, and the device is adapted to move up and down along the stand. The stand has two side frames 46a, 46b, 47a, 47b on the left and right sides, one end of which is connected to a pair of vertical frames 41, 42, and the upper parts of the vertical frames 41, 42 are connected horizontally by an upper horizontal frame 45, with the inclined frames 43, 44 connected at an angle of approximately 45°. In this embodiment, a U-shaped frame 48 for providing the engaging portion 24 is provided on the other end of the side frame, and this frame 48 is connected to the inclined frames 43, 44, but it may also be connected to the side frames 47b, 46b. A drive motor 35 is attached to one of the left and right inclined frames 43, 44, and the rotation of a shaft portion 36a causes a vertically movable horizontal frame 37 to which the support bracket 33 is fixed to move up and down. In this embodiment, the drive motor 35 is attached only to one of the inclined frames 43, and is connected to a shaft portion 36b provided on the other inclined frame 44 by left and right pulleys 38a, 38b and a belt 38c stretched between them. These controls are operated through a control panel 50.

[0018] Next, the process for finishing barrel 1 will be described. As shown in Figures 2(a) and (b), the barrel 1 is attached to the holding device 10, and as shown in Figure 3(a), the barrel 1 is tilted by approximately 45° in the θ direction by operating the tilting device 20. This tilting operation may be either electrically or manually performed. Next, as shown in FIG. 3(b), while rotating the barrel 1 in the direction W, the grinder 31 is lowered or raised in the direction S to scrape off the inner surface layer. By tilting barrel 1 in this way, the scraps that have been scraped off will fall under their own weight, making it easier to see inside. In addition, since barrel 1 is tilted, it is easy to check the scraping condition through the opening at the top. Therefore, the remaining cutting portion can be corrected as necessary. If necessary, the shavings can be removed by suction. This allows old barrels to be regenerated and reused. [Explanation of symbols]
