Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0004] In the printing apparatus described in Patent Document 1, an ultraviolet curable ink is discharged at the cut position. This ultraviolet curable ink adheres to the surface of the recording medium and has almost no permeability between the fibers inside the medium. Therefore, when the recording medium is paper or the like, it is unlikely to cause a problem. However, when the recording medium is a thin or soft fabric, the ultraviolet curable ink only adheres to the surface of the fabric. Therefore, when cutting the cut position with a cutter or the like, the cutting strength is insufficient, and it may be difficult to cut or the cutting may become difficult. In addition, fraying may occur from the cut surface and fuzz may be generated. The fraying deteriorates the fabric of the medium. The fuzz degrades the performance of the recording head. In addition, when transporting a fabric as a medium for printing, local tensile forces may be applied, which may cause the fabric to deform or wrinkle. Also, when sewing with a sewing machine or the like, thin or soft fabrics may warp during fabric feeding or the sewing needle may push the fabric in without penetrating it, resulting in poor sewing. However, Patent Document 1 does not consider these problems.

Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[0008] First, the present invention will be briefly described below. A recording apparatus according to a first aspect of the present invention includes a recording unit that records an image on a medium conveyed in a conveyance direction based on image data, and a control unit. The recording unit includes an ink head that discharges pigment ink onto the fabric of the medium, and a curing treatment head that discharges a curing treatment liquid for curing the fabric in a state where it has penetrated the fabric. The control unit executes a first control for recording an image on the medium by discharging the pigment ink with the ink head, and a second control for discharging the curing treatment liquid onto a curing target area of the medium with the curing treatment head.
[0009] According to this aspect, the curing treatment liquid discharged from the curing treatment head penetrates into the fabric of the medium and cures the fabric in the penetrated state. That is, the curing treatment liquid cures in a state of penetrating not only the surface of the medium but also between the fibers inside the medium. Therefore, even if the medium is a thin fabric, a soft fabric, or the like, by discharging the curing treatment liquid to the curing target area, which is the area to be cured, the curing target area becomes a state of being cured from the surface of the medium to the penetrated inside. Thereby, when performing processing such as cutting the portion cured with the curing treatment liquid with a cutter or the like, or sewing with a sewing machine or the like, due to the effect of the curing, that is, due to the curing extending from the surface to the inside, wrinkles, deformations, fraying, etc. are suppressed from occurring in the fabric, and the processing such as cutting and sewing becomes easy.
[0010] A second aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect subordinate to the first aspect, wherein the second control is characterized in that a first area surrounding the image formed by the pigment ink is set as the curing target area.
[0011] According to this aspect, the second control sets a first area surrounding the image formed by the pigment ink as the curing target area. Thereby, when cutting the first area surrounding the image, it can be easily cut due to the effect of the curing.
[0012] A third aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect subordinate to the second aspect, wherein the first area is an area surrounding along the contour of the image formed by the pigment ink.
[0013] According to this aspect, the first area is an area surrounding along the contour of the image formed by the pigment ink. Thereby, when cutting along the contour of the image, it can be easily cut due to the effect of the curing. Also, since the area surrounding along the contour of the image is cured, the strength of the image portion surrounded by the first area increases, and its handling becomes easy.
[0014] A fourth aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect that depends on the first aspect or the second aspect, wherein the second control is located upstream and downstream in the conveyance direction of the image formed by the pigment ink on the medium, and a second region extending over the entire length of the width of the medium is also set as the region to be cured.
[0015] According to this aspect, the second region where the curing treatment liquid is discharged and cured is located upstream and downstream in the conveyance direction of the image and extends over the entire length of the width of the medium. Thus, even when a local tensile force is applied when the cloth, which is the medium, is conveyed for printing, since the second region extending over the entire length of the width of the medium is cured, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of distortion and wrinkles in the fabric of the medium.
[0016] A fifth aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect that depends on the fourth aspect, wherein the second control also sets a third region connecting both end positions in the width direction of the second region as the region to be cured.
[0017] According to this aspect, the second control sets the third region as the region to be cured in addition to the second region. That is, the second region and the third region form a quadrangle and surround the image and the first region. Thus, even when a local tensile force is applied when the cloth or the like, which is the medium, is conveyed for printing, since the second region and the third region are cured in the form of a quadrangle, it is possible to further suppress the occurrence of distortion or the like in the fabric of the medium. In addition, since the third region forms the quadrangle in a state of being located on each side of the medium, the entire portion of the medium forming the quadrangle is less likely to be distorted even when the local tensile force is applied. For example, even when there is only one image, for example, inside the quadrangle, the occurrence of distortion or the like is less likely to occur.
[0018] The sixth aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect that depends on the second aspect, wherein the first control records a plurality of images that are located apart from each other on the medium, and the second control sets a fourth region that surrounds the plurality of images also as the region to be cured, and the fourth region is located inside, separated from both side edges along the conveyance direction of the medium.
[0019] According to this aspect, by providing the fourth region at a position close to the image and the first region, even when a local tensile force is applied to the medium, it becomes more difficult to deform.
[0020] The seventh aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect that depends on the sixth aspect, wherein the second control sets, as the region to be cured, a second region that is located upstream and downstream in the conveyance direction of the fourth region and extends over the entire length of the width of the medium, and also sets a third region that connects both end positions in the width direction of the second region as the region to be cured.
[0021] According to this aspect, since the image and the first region are surrounded by the fourth region, and a quadrilateral formed by the second region and the third region is provided around the fourth region, even when a local tensile force is applied to the medium, it becomes even more difficult to deform.
[0022] The eighth aspect of the recording apparatus according to the present invention is an aspect that depends on the first aspect or the second aspect, wherein the second control sets a sewing region corresponding to a sewing line as the region to be cured. Note that this aspect can also depend on any one of the third aspect to the seventh aspect.
[0023] According to this aspect, the second control sets a sewing region corresponding to a sewing line as the region to be cured. That is, the sewing line where sewing is performed by a sewing machine or the like is cured by the curing treatment liquid. Thereby, when sewing a thin or soft fabric with a sewing machine or the like, it is possible to reduce the risk of creases occurring in the fabric during fabric feeding or the sewing needle pushing into the fabric without penetrating it, resulting in poor sewing.
[0024] The recording method according to the ninth aspect of the present invention includes a recording unit that records an image on a medium conveyed in a conveyance direction based on image data, and a control unit. The recording unit includes an ink head that discharges pigment ink onto the fabric of the medium, and a curing treatment head that discharges a curing treatment liquid that penetrates the fabric to cure the fabric. The recording method is performed by a recording apparatus, and the control unit is characterized by executing the following (1) and (2). (1) Executing first control to record an image on the medium by discharging the pigment ink with the ink head (2) Executing second control to discharge the curing treatment liquid onto a curing target area of the medium with the curing treatment head
[0025] According to this aspect, the same effects as those of the first aspect can be obtained as a recording method.
[0026] [Embodiment] Hereinafter, embodiments of a recording apparatus according to the present invention will be specifically described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 11. In the following description, as shown in each figure, three axes orthogonal to each other are defined as the X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis, respectively. The directions indicated by the arrows of the three axes (X, Y, Z) are the + directions of the respective directions, and the opposite directions are the - directions. The Z-axis direction corresponds to the vertical direction, that is, the direction in which gravity acts. The +Z direction indicates vertically upward, and the -Z direction indicates vertically downward. The X-axis direction and the Y-axis direction correspond to the horizontal direction. The +Y direction indicates the front direction of the apparatus, and the -Y direction indicates the rear direction of the apparatus. The +X direction indicates the right direction of the apparatus, and the -X direction indicates the left direction of the apparatus.
[0027] [Embodiment 1] The recording apparatus 1 of the present embodiment is an inkjet printer. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the recording apparatus 1 includes a recording unit 7 that records an image 2 (FIG. 2) on a medium 3 conveyed in the conveyance direction F based on image data 5, and a control unit 9. The recording unit 7 includes an ink head 71 that discharges pigment ink 11 onto the fabric 31 of the medium 3, and a curing treatment head 72 that discharges a curing treatment liquid 13 for curing the fabric 31 in a state where it has penetrated the fabric 31. The control unit 9 is configured to execute a first control 91 for recording the image 2 on the medium 3 by discharging the pigment ink with the ink head 71, and a second control 92 for discharging the curing treatment liquid 13 to a curing target region 15 of the medium 3 with the curing treatment head.
[0028] In the present embodiment, the ink head 71 and the curing treatment head 72 have nozzle arrays (not shown), and are both serial type heads that reciprocate in the width direction of the medium 3, which is the direction intersecting the conveyance direction F, that is, the X-axis direction, by a carriage (not shown). The pigment ink 11 and the curing treatment liquid 13 are discharged from the nozzle arrays toward the medium 3. FIG. 1 shows a structure in which the ink head 71 is arranged upstream of the curing treatment head 72 in the conveyance direction F, but the structure is not limited to this. Any structure that can execute the formation of the image 2 by the ink head 71 and the discharge of the curing treatment liquid by the curing treatment head 72 based on the image data 5 may be used. For example, a structure in which the ink head 71 and the curing treatment head 72 are mounted on one carriage may also be used.
[0029] In the present embodiment, the recording apparatus 1 is configured such that the medium 3 is sent out in the conveyance direction F by a feed roller 4, passes through a recording execution region 6 of the recording unit 7 via conveyance rollers 8 and 10, and is wound up by a take-up roller 12. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 14 denotes a heater. The heater 14 is located downstream of the recording unit 7 and heats the medium 3 to a predetermined temperature. By this heating, the curing treatment liquid discharged to the curing target region 15 of the medium 3 is cured. Note that natural curing may be performed without providing the heater 14. The control unit 9 has a control mode that executes a first control 91 for receiving the image data 5 and driving the ink head 71, and a second control 92 for driving the curing processing head. Further, the control unit 9 controls the conveyance drive of the medium 3 by the feed roller 4 and the take-up roller 12. The medium 3 is intermittently conveyed by the feed roller 4 and the take-up roller 12. The pigment ink 11 and the curing treatment liquid 13 are discharged to a predetermined position based on the image data 5 while the medium 3 is in a stopped state. The control unit 9 includes a CPU, a flash ROM, and a RAM. The CPU performs various arithmetic processes according to the program stored in the flash ROM and controls the operation of the entire recording apparatus 1. The flash ROM, which is an example of the storage means, is a non-volatile memory that can be read and written. Various kinds of information are temporarily stored in the RAM, which is an example of the storage means.
[0030] <Medium> In the present embodiment, the medium 3 to be recorded by the recording unit 7 is a thin fabric 31, a soft fabric 31, etc., and there is a risk of problems such as it being not easily or difficult to cut with a cutter after the image 2 is recorded. Specifically, it is a fabric which is a woven fabric made by crossing warp and weft threads, a knit which is a knitted fabric made by forming loops with a single thread and entangling them with adjacent loops, a non-woven fabric made by entangling or sticking fibers together, etc. That is, the medium 3 of the fabric 31 where there is a risk of the above problems occurring is particularly the object to be recorded by the recording unit 7. Also, the medium 3 where local tensile force is applied to the medium 3 and distortion, wrinkles, etc. are likely to occur is also the object from the viewpoint of making it difficult to generate distortion, wrinkles, etc. Also, even when not cutting, if there is a part on the medium 3 to be sewn with a sewing machine or the like and the part is likely to cause poor sewing in terms of strength, it is also the object from the viewpoint of reinforcement.
[0031] <Curing treatment liquid> The curing treatment liquid 13 discharged from the curing treatment head 72 may be any liquid that penetrates into the fabric 31 of a medium 3 such as a fabric and cures the fabric 31 in the penetrated state. The permeability of the curing treatment liquid 13 is greater than that of an ultraviolet curable ink, but when the curing treatment liquid 13 is applied to a medium 3 such as a fabric and cured, and when processing such as cutting is performed on the cured area, wrinkles, deformations, fraying, etc. are suppressed from occurring on the fabric, and it is sufficient if the processing becomes easier to a certain extent. Here, the curing treatment liquid 13 is transparent, but it is not limited to being transparent. In the present embodiment, the curing treatment liquid 13 uses an overcoat liquid described in Japanese Patent Publication No. 6736908, which is patented by the applicant of the present application. This overcoat liquid contains a water-dispersible resin, a water-soluble organic solvent having a plurality of hydroxyl groups in its molecular structure, a crosslinkable component, and water. The water-dispersible resin contains a urethane resin, the crosslinkable component contains a blocked isocyanate compound, the water-soluble organic solvent contains glycerin, and it is applied and used by a spraying method or an inkjet method. Table 1 of the same patent publication describes the specific components and compositions of the overcoat liquid as Examples 1 to 9. The present inventor has confirmed that this overcoat liquid can be used for curing treatment of a medium 3 such as the fabric, knit, or non-woven fabric as the curing treatment liquid 13 of the present invention.
[0032] The pigment ink discharged from the ink head 71 can be a black pigment ink, color pigment inks such as red, blue, and yellow, which are commonly used in inkjet printers for recording an image on a medium 3 such as a fabric. It is not limited to a specific pigment ink.
[0033] <Cutting of the Cured Portion> For the cutting process of the portion hardened by discharging the hardening treatment liquid 13 onto the hardening target area 15, ordinary cutters such as a guillotine cutter, a laser cutter, or a cutting machine can be used. When cutting with an automatic cutter, if the position information of the hardening target area 15, that is, the information of the cutting position, can be utilized from the image data 5, it is used. When the image data cannot be utilized, it can be performed by detecting the cutting position hardened by the hardening treatment liquid 13 with a sensor such as a camera. Manual cutting may be performed without using an automatic cutter.
[0034] As shown in FIG. 2, in the present embodiment, the second control 92 sets the first area 17 surrounding the image 2 formed by the pigment ink 11 as the hardening target area 15 of the medium 3. In the present embodiment, for the sake of simplicity of explanation, the image 2 is described as having a square with a simple outer shape. Here, the cutting line by a cutter or the like is a square along the contour of the image 2. Therefore, the first area 17 is also a square. There is a gap 16 between the image 2 and the first area 17, and the image 2 and the first area 17 are separated. There may be a case where the cutting line does not follow the contour of the image 2. In that case, the first area 17 has a shape different from a square, although not shown in the figure, and the gap 16 is not uniform as shown in FIG. 2. The width of the first area 17 is set according to the purpose of the hardening process such as cutting or sewing. FIG. 3 is different from FIG. 2 only in that there is no gap 16. That is, it is provided in a state where the first area 17 is in contact with the periphery of the image 2.
[0035] FIG. 4 shows a case where the image 2 is not a simple square. Also, a plurality of images 2 are provided separately from each other. Each of the plurality of images 2, 2,... has a different shape. Specifically, each of the plurality of images 2, 2,... is each part for sewing an aloha shirt. The first area 17 is provided in a state of being in contact with the periphery of the image 2 as in FIG. 3. As shown in FIG. 4, when the plurality of images 2 surrounded by the first area 17 are spread over the entire area in the width direction of the medium 3 such as a fabric, the proportion of the first area 17, that is, the hardened area, increases, so the strength of the medium 3 is improved and its handling becomes easier.
[0036] <Explanation of the Effects of Embodiment 1> (1) In this embodiment, the curing treatment liquid 13 discharged from the curing treatment head 72 penetrates into the fabric 31 of the medium 3 and cures the fabric 31 in the penetrated state. That is, the curing treatment liquid 13 cures in a state where it penetrates not only the surface of the medium 3 but also between the fibers inside the medium. Therefore, even if the medium 3 is a thin fabric, a soft fabric, or the like, by discharging the curing treatment liquid 13 to the curing target region 15, which is the portion to be cured, the curing target region 15 will be in a cured state from the surface of the medium 3 to the penetrated interior. Thereby, when performing processing such as cutting the portion cured by the curing treatment liquid 13 with a cutter or the like, or sewing with a sewing machine or the like, due to the effect of the curing, that is, due to the curing extending from the surface to the interior, the occurrence of wrinkles, deformations, fraying, etc. in the fabric is suppressed, and the processing such as cutting and sewing becomes easier.
[0037] (2) Also, in this embodiment, the second control 92 sets the first region 17 surrounding the image 2 formed by the pigment ink 11 as the curing target region 15. Thereby, when cutting the first region 17 surrounding the image 2, it can be easily cut due to the effect of the curing. (3) Also, in this embodiment, the first region 17 is a region surrounded along the contour of the image 2 formed by the pigment ink 11. Thereby, when cutting along the contour of the image 2, it can be easily cut due to the effect of the curing. Also, since the region surrounded along the contour of the image 2 is cured, the strength of the portion of the image 2 surrounded by the first region 17 increases, and its handling becomes easier.
[0038] [Embodiment 2] Next, the recording apparatus 1 according to Embodiment 2 will be described with reference to FIGS. 5 to 7. The same parts as those in Embodiment 1 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description of their configurations and corresponding effects is omitted. As shown in FIG. 6, in the present embodiment, the second control 92 is located upstream and downstream in the conveyance direction F of the image 2 formed by the pigment ink 11 of the medium 3, and the second region 19 extending over the entire width of the medium 3 is also configured to be a region 15 to be cured. That is, both ends of the second region 19 reach the respective side edges 18 and 20 of the medium 3. The image 2 formed by the first control is a pentagon, not a square here, and four are provided at substantially the center in the width direction of the medium 3. FIG. 5 shows a state where the second region 19 is not formed.
[0039] As shown in FIG. 7, in the present embodiment, further, the second control 92 is configured such that the third region 21 connecting both end positions in the width direction of the medium 3 in the second region 19 is also a region 15 to be cured. That is, the third region 21 is located at the respective side edges 18 and 20 of the medium 3. In the present embodiment, in addition to the image 2 and the first region 17, the second region 19 and the third region 21 are provided, but the second region 19 or the second region and the third region 21 may be provided without providing the image 2 and the first region 17.
[0040] <Description of the effects of Embodiment 2> (1) In the present embodiment, the second region 19 where the curing treatment liquid 13 is discharged and cured is located upstream and downstream in the conveyance direction F of the image 2 and extends over the entire width of the medium 3. Thus, even when a local tensile force is applied when the medium 3 such as a cloth is conveyed for printing, since the second region 19 extending over the entire width of the medium 3 is cured, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of distortion and wrinkles in the fabric 31 of the medium 3.
[0041] (2) Further, in the present embodiment, the second control 92 makes the third region 21 also a region 15 to be cured in addition to the second region 19. That is, the second region 19 and the third region 21 form a quadrilateral and surround the image 2 and the first region 17. Thus, even when a local tensile force is applied when the medium 3 such as a cloth is conveyed for printing, since the second region 19 and the third region 21 are cured in the shape of a quadrilateral, it is possible to further suppress the occurrence of distortion and the like in the fabric 31 of the medium 3. In addition, since the third region 21 forms the quadrilateral while being positioned on each side 18, 20 of the medium 3, the entire portion of the medium 3 forming the quadrilateral is less likely to be distorted even when the local tensile force is applied. For example, even when there is only one image 2 inside the quadrilateral, the distortion and the like are less likely to occur.
[0042] [Embodiment 3] Next, the recording apparatus 1 according to Embodiment 3 will be described with reference to FIGS. 8 and 9. The same parts as those in Embodiment 1 and Embodiment 2 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description of their configurations and corresponding effects is omitted. As shown in FIG. 8, in the present embodiment, the first control 91 is configured to record four images 2 that are spaced apart from each other on the medium 3. The second control 92 is configured such that the fourth region 23 surrounding the four images 2 is also a hardening target region 15. The fourth region 23 is located inside and spaced apart from both sides 18, 20 along the conveyance direction F of the four media 3. That is, the fourth region 23 is provided at a position close to the four images 2, 2,....
[0043] As shown in FIG. 9, in the present embodiment, further, the second control 92 also sets the second region 19 located upstream and downstream in the conveyance direction F of the fourth region 23 and extending over the entire length of the width of the medium 3 as the hardening target region 15. Further, the third region 21 connecting both end positions in the width direction of the medium 3 in the second region 19 is also set as the hardening target region 15.
[0044] [Explanation of the effects of Embodiment 3] (1) In the present embodiment, by providing the fourth region 23 at a position close to the image 2 and the first region 17, the medium 2 is even less likely to be distorted even when the local tensile force is applied. (2) Further, in the present embodiment, the image 2 and the first region 17 are surrounded by the fourth region 23, and a quadrilateral formed by the second region 19 and the third region 21 is provided around the fourth region 23. Therefore, the medium 2 is even less likely to be distorted even when the local tensile force is applied.
[0045] [Embodiment 4] Next, the recording apparatus 1 according to Embodiment 4 will be described with reference to FIGS. 10 and 11. The same parts as those in Embodiment 1, Embodiment 2, and Embodiment 3 are denoted by the same reference numerals, and the description of their configurations and corresponding effects is omitted. In the present embodiment, the second control 92 is configured such that the sewing area 25 corresponding to the sewing line sewn with a sewing machine or the like is the hardening target area 15. The sewing area 25 is provided on the image 2 along the contour of the image 2. FIG. 10 shows a case where the first area 17 and the sewing area 25 are provided integrally. That is, the first area 17 is located outside the contour position of the image 2. The sewing area 25 is located inside the contour position of the image 2. And the first area 17 and the sewing area 25 are provided continuously integrally. FIG. 11 shows a case where the sewing area 25 is provided independently of the first area 17. That is, the sewing area 25 is provided inside the contour position of the image 2. The first area 17 is provided outside the contour position of the image 2 with a gap 16 therebetween.
[0046] In the present embodiment, the second control 92 sets the sewing area 25 corresponding to the sewing line as the hardening target area 15. That is, the sewing line sewn with a sewing machine or the like is hardened by the hardening treatment liquid 13. Thereby, when sewing a thin or soft fabric with a sewing machine or the like, it is possible to reduce the risk of creases occurring in the fabric during fabric feeding or the sewing needle pushing the fabric in without penetrating it, resulting in sewing defects.
[0047] 〔Other Embodiments〕 The recording apparatus 1 according to the present invention is basically configured as described in the above embodiments, but it is of course possible to make partial configuration changes, omissions, etc. without departing from the gist of the present invention. In the above embodiment, the case where the sewing area 25 is located on the image 2 is shown, but it may be located outside the contour of the image 2. Also, in the above-described embodiment, the first region 17, the second region 19, the third region 21, the fourth region 23, and the sewing region 25 corresponding to the curing target region 15 are formed by solid lines, but the present invention is not limited to such a configuration. For example, the curing target region 15 may be formed by a broken line. Also, in the above-described embodiment, the second region 19 extends over the entire length of the width of the medium 3, and both ends thereof reach the respective side edges 18 and 20 of the medium 3, but the present invention is not limited to such a configuration. For example, the second region 19 only needs to have at least a length component in the width direction of the medium 3, and both ends thereof do not have to reach the respective side edges 18 and 20 of the medium 3.
