Abstract

To provide a shock absorber capable of excellently adjusting damping force from a low speed region to a high speed region of a stroke speed of a sub-piston.SOLUTION: A shock absorber 10 includes a primary piston 18 and a secondary piston 20. The primary piston 18 includes a main piston body 26 and first damping force generating parts 30a and 30b. The sub-piston 20 includes a sub-piston body 36 and a second damping force generating part 40. The second damping force generating part 40 includes a groove 64 provided in the main surface of the sub-piston body 36, a valve 66 provided so as to cover the groove 64, and a port 68 provided in the groove 64 so as to penetrate the sub-piston body 36. The valve 66 does not contact the secondary piston body 36. In order to adjust the damping force when the stroke speed is in the low speed region, an orifice 76 of the sub-piston 20 is set based on the outer diametrical D1 of the valve 66 and the outer diameter D2 of the groove 64, and in order to adjust the damping force when the stroke speed is in the high speed region, the rigidity of the valve 66 is set.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
