Abstract

This invention provides a modified epoxy resin, resin composition, and its cured product that offer excellent decomposability and mechanical strength, are effectively used in applications such as lamination, molding, casting, and bonding, and have low viscosity. A modified epoxy resin is characterized by being represented by the following general formula (1). Here, X is a monovalent group represented by formula (2-1) or formula (2-2), and formulas (2-1) and (2-2) may be mixed in a molecule. Y is a divalent group and has at least an alicyclic hydrocarbon group that may have heterogeneous elements. n1 is the average number of repetitions and is 0 or more and 500 or less. When n1 is 0, X has at least the group represented by formula (2-2). n2 is the average number of repetitions and is 0 or more and 6 or less.
