Description

VEHICLE WHEEL REMOVAL SYSTEM

[0001] The invention relates to devices for repairing wheeled vehicles and can be used for removing and / or installing a wheel when replacing wheels on a vehicle under road conditions.

[0002] This application is filed with priority to application RU 2023120273 dated 02.08.2023 patent RU 2816379 "SYSTEM FOR REMOVING A VEHICLE WHEEL".

[0003] It is well known [1], [2] that to replace or repair a wheel on a vehicle, the vehicle is usually lifted using a jack, the wheel is hung up (released from contact with the surface), the fasteners (bolts or nuts) securing the wheel to the hub are unscrewed, the wheel is held in the air by hand and removed from the hub. The wheel is then installed on the hub. When installing, it is necessary, holding the wheel in the air by hand, to align the mounting places and holes that allow the fasteners to be installed and the wheel to be fixed. After that, the vehicle is lowered from the jack until the wheel contacts the surface and the fasteners are tightened.

[0004] It is known that vehicles are equipped with wheels of various sizes and weights; for all-terrain vehicles, trucks, and snow and swamp vehicles, the wheel weight can range from 50 to 150 kg, and the diameter from 1000 to 1800 mm. The need to replace or repair a wheel may arise during a trip, in various road conditions, where it is not always possible to use lifting mechanisms, a crane, or a crane beam to lift and hold the wheel. Removing and installing a wheel in a known manner [1], [2] under road conditions is a labor-intensive and sometimes impossible task. To remove / install a wheel, it is necessary to hold the wheel in your hands suspended under the wing, while for installation it is necessary to align the mounting seats and mounting holes, and also tighten the fasteners. This method requires significant physical effort from two or more people.

[0005] A device for changing vehicle wheels is known [3]. The device contains upper and lower grips and a drive kinematically connected to each other. The frame is equipped with an L-shaped lever with an earring, which, depending on the location of the center of mass, is installed in one or another hole to maintain the wheel axis in a horizontal position. Handles rigidly mounted on the frame serve to orient the device in space.

[0006] When installing on a vehicle, the captured wheel is brought to the installation site using a lifting device. The device consists of a crossbar and requires a crane to use it, which does not allow it to be used in road conditions.

[0007] A device for installing a wheel is known [4] which is a steel pin connected by a cardan mechanism to a lever, and the thread on the pin corresponds to the thread of the standard mounting bolt. The lever is inserted into the hole in the wheel disk, pushed toward the hub and tightened by rotating the lever by the handle. The wheel is lifted by a lever passed through the disk, moved along the pin close to the hub; the mounting bolts are tightened; the car is lowered, the mounting bolts are tightened.

[0008] The device cannot be used if the wheel rim does not have a hole for the lever, since it will not be possible to hang the rim on the lever. The device cannot be used if the hub does not have a free hole for the stud, for example, if it is occupied by a bolt. In order to provide a stop for the end of the lever, by means of a stud placed on its end, the hub must be equipped with a hole into which the stud is screwed, however, the hub may not contain holes, since the rim is not always fastened to the hub with bolts, for example, if the rim is fastened to the hub using studs and nuts (the studs do not unscrew from the hub and are firmly seated). In addition, when removing wheels weighing more than 50 kg, the force on the lever can also be significant and the physical strength of one person is not always sufficient to remove and install the wheel. There is a risk of the wheel coming off the stud of the device unintentionally, you need to hold the lever and install the fasteners at the same time. The support point of the lever is located in one or another hole of the hub, where you managed to screw the stud, and does not allow you to position the lever at the level of the center of mass of the wheel, as a result, the wheel rotates on the lever and it must be held in the required position.

[0009] A device for manually installing wheels on motor vehicles is known [5], it contains an S-shaped lever along its length, equipped with a handle at one end and a hook at the opposite end, a pin with a shelf in its end part, in which a mounting slot for the hook is made, and an L-shaped cotter pin.

[0010] The fulcrum of the lever is located in one or another hole of the hub, where the stud was screwed in, and does not allow the lever to be positioned at the level of the center of mass of the wheel, as a result, the wheel rotates on the lever and must be held in the required position. The rim (disk) of the wheel, under the influence of its own weight, tends to take a certain position, which may not coincide with the position required for installing the fasteners. The device [5] cannot be used if the rim (disk) of the wheel does not contain a hole for passing the lever, since it will not be possible to hang the wheel on the lever. The stud must be installed in the hole of the hub, located at a higher mark in relation to the other holes of the hub, while the hole must be located on top, otherwise the wheel will not be lifted by the lever.

[0011] The general disadvantage of known devices [4], [5] is that the fulcrum of the lever is located on the hub, so the lever must be inserted into a certain hole, and the hole must be located in the plane of symmetry of the wheel, otherwise, as a result of the displacement of the center of mass of the wheel relative to the lever, the wheel rotates on the lever during removal and installation. At the same time, for a wheel weighing more than 100 kg, it is necessary to use a longer lever or apply greater force, which complicates the installation of fasteners. The lever does not allow you to fix the wheel in a suspended position and at this time freely manipulate the fasteners, since the lever must be constantly held.To ensure a balanced position of the wheel on the lever, it is necessary to place the lever and the hole, which is the reference point, in a position at the level of the center of mass of the wheel, and this is not always possible, and complicates the installation / removal process due to the need to rotate the wheel on the lever to the desired position.

[0012] The means known from the state of the art for removing and installing wheels in road conditions have disadvantages; they are not suitable for removing and installing wheels of large mass, for example those used on all-terrain vehicles and snow and swamp vehicles of the “Burlak” type.

[0013] The system for removing a vehicle wheel comprises a lever in the form of a winch, designed to create a traction force on the wheel installed in the supports. It comprises two supports located on the vehicle body above the wheel, a winch designed for installation in the supports, a cable designed for winding on the winch. The cable is equipped with grips at the ends, designed to grip the wheel rim. Moreover, the winch is equipped with a fastening element for gripping the cable and a handle, with the ability to fix the position of the winch relative to the support.

[0014] The system is used to remove and / or install a wheel when changing wheels on a vehicle under road conditions. The effort required to remove and install a wheel is reduced, there is no need to set the hub in a given position and aim the lever into the holes in the hub to provide a support point in the right place. The wheel is suspended at the level of the center of mass and does not rotate spontaneously when installed on the hub, there is no need to hold and turn the wheel, fasteners can be freely installed.

[0015] The technical challenge is to ensure the ability to remove and install a wheel of an all-terrain vehicle, snow and swamp vehicle, or truck in road conditions.

[0016] The problem is solved in that the system for removing a wheel of a vehicle containing a lever intended to create a traction force on the wheel installed in a support is distinguished by the fact that it contains two supports located on the body of the vehicle above the wheel, the lever is made in the form of a gate, the gate is intended for installation in the supports. It contains a cable intended for winding on the gate. The cable is equipped at the ends with grips intended for gripping the rim of the wheel, and the gate is equipped with a fastening element for gripping the cable and a handle with the ability to fix the position of the gate relative to the support.

[0017] Provides the ability to remove and install a wheel of an all-terrain vehicle, snow and swamp vehicle, or truck in road conditions. Unlike analogs [4], [5], the lever in the system for removing a vehicle wheel is used to create torque, and the traction force on the wheel is transmitted using a cable wound onto the lever (the lever designed to create torque is called a winch), located at the support points above the wheel. This allows you to reduce the effort required to lift the wheel, position the support points exactly above the hub, ensuring the application of traction at the level of the center of mass of the wheel, which allows you to hang the wheel for free removal and installation of fasteners. In this case, the wheel is in a stable position and does not change it under its own weight. Figure 1

[0022] The technical solution can be implemented in various modifications (variants), where the support points, cable, winch, handle, can have designs known to specialists from the level of technology.

[0023] The drawings presented do not illustrate all possible variants of the system implementation, and are intended to facilitate understanding of what parts the system consists of. Description of implementation

[0024] The system (;;;) comprises a lever in the form of a winch 5, designed to create a traction force on a wheel 4, installed in supports 1 and 2, located on the body 3 of the vehicle, above the wheel 4, a cable 6, designed for winding on the winch 5. The cable 6 is equipped at the ends with grips 7, designed to grip the rim of the wheel 4. The winch 5 is equipped with a fastening element 18 for gripping the cable 6 and a handle 8 with the ability to fix the position of the winch 5 relative to the support 1. Example

[0025] The system for removing a vehicle wheel () comprises two supports 1 and 2 located on the vehicle body 3 above the wheel 4, a winch 5 intended for installation in supports 1 and 2, a cable 6 intended for winding onto the winch 5. The cable 6 is equipped with grips 7 at the ends intended for gripping the rim of the wheel 4. The winch 5 is equipped with a handle 8 intended for rotating the winch 5. The winch 5 is intended to create a traction force on the wheel 4 transmitted through the cable 6. In this case, the winch has the ability to fix the position (lock the rotation).

[0026] It should be noted that when developing any actual implementation option of the system, numerous specific solutions can be implemented to ensure the achievement of the specified technical result and advantages of the system.

[0027] In manufacturing support 1, an eye 9 (;;) or brackets, suspension bearings can be used, in addition, the support can be made as a part of the wing (not shown in the diagrams), which is necessary for localizing the technical solution in specific production conditions. Support 2 can also have various implementation options, it can be made as a part of the body, as a separate part, bracket or eye. For specialists in the considered field of technology, it is obvious that various solutions known from the prior art can be used as supports 1 and 2, providing support for the gate 5, with the possibility of its rotation.

[0028] As shown in, the first support 1 is made in the form of an eye 9. The eye 9 is fastened to the wing 10 using a plate 11 and bolts 12 with nuts 13; for this purpose, a slot is made in the wing 10 through which the bolts 12 are passed.

[0029] The second support 2 is made in the form of a recess () 14 on the body 3 located in the underwing part. The recess 14 is made in the form of a figured groove on the bracket. The collar 5 contains a groove 15 at the end, due to which a flange is formed. The groove contains two sections, one allows the end of the collar 5 to pass, and the second fixes the end of the collar 5 by the flange, allows the collar to rotate around its own longitudinal axis without falling out of the recess 14.

[0030] To lock gate 5, a hole 17 is made in it, intended for installing a stopper 16, which can be a screwdriver or a pin.

[0031] To secure / grab the cable 6 on the winch, a fastening element is provided in the form of a crutch 18, a hook, or similar elements that provide the ability to grab the cable 6 for winding onto the winch 5.

[0032] Description of use

[0033] The system is used for repair of wheeled vehicles, removal and / or installation of wheels, when changing wheels on a vehicle under road conditions.

[0034] On the wing 10 of the vehicle, at the level of the wheel hub, a groove is made for installing the first support 1 above the wheel.

[0035] On the body 3 of the vehicle, in the under-wing part, the second support 2 is installed.

[0036] An eye 9 is installed into the groove on the wing 10 using a plate 11, bolts 12 and nuts 13. The longitudinal axes of the eye 9 and the recess 14 coincide and are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the wheel hub.

[0037] A diagram showing the procedure for using the system to remove a vehicle wheel is shown in

[0038] The winch 5 is inserted into the eye 9 and inserted into the recess 14. Using the jack, the axle / wheel 4 is suspended. The fasteners (bolts or nuts) securing the wheel to the hub are unscrewed. The cable 6 with the grips 7 is fixed to the winch 5, the grips 7 are installed on the rim of the wheel 4 on both sides, at the top along the line of symmetry of the wheel. The cable 6 is put on the crutch 18. The winch 5 is rotated by the handle 8, while the cable 6 is wound (winded) onto the winch 5, and with the grips 7 it pulls the rim of the wheel upward, in the direction of the winch 5. In this way, the weight of the wheel is transferred to the cable 6 and the winch 5 is removed from the hub. The winch 5 is fixed in the achieved position (with the stopper 16 or with a hole passed through the hole 17 in the body of the winch). Remove the wheel from the hub by pulling it towards you.

[0039] To release wheel 4, loosen cable 6, for this purpose turn winch 5 by handle 8 in the opposite direction. Clamps 7 are removed from the rim. To install wheel 4, grasp it by the rim with clamps 7 installed on two opposite sides in the upper part of the rim. Turn winch 5 by handle 8, while cable 6 is wound (winded) on winch 5, and with clamps 7 pulls the wheel rim upward, in the direction of winch 5. In this way, wheel 4 is raised and brought to the hub. Winch 5 is fixed in the achieved position (with a stopper or a hole passed through an opening in the winch body). The weight of the wheel is transferred to cable 6. By pushing, the wheel is put on the hub and fixed with fasteners. The winch 5 is rotated in the opposite direction by the handle 8, loosening the cable 6, and the grips 7 are removed. The cable 6 is removed from the winch 5, the winch 5 is removed from the supports 1 and 2. The jack is lowered.

[0040] This makes it possible to remove and install the wheel of an all-terrain vehicle, snow and swamp vehicle, or truck in road conditions.

[0041] Moreover, this can be done by one person, there is no need to install the hub in a given position, the wheel is suspended at the level of the center of mass and does not rotate spontaneously when installed on the hub, there is no need to hold and turn the wheel, and fasteners can be freely installed.

[0042] The technical solution can be implemented using industrially produced devices and materials, its elements can be manufactured and assembled both by hand and at modern industrial enterprises. Nothing prevents the use of the system for the specified purpose.
