Abstract
Description
Packaging method for nicotine pouches and nicotine pouches manufactured using the same
[0001] The present invention relates to a packaging method for a nicotine pouch and a nicotine pouch manufactured using the same.
[0002] A nicotine pouch is a type of smoking device, typically consisting of an inner filling material and an outer packaging material. Nicotine pouches are used within the user's mouth to deliver nicotine into the user's body. Typically, the user places the pouch between the upper or lower gums and the lip and holds it there for a limited period of time.
[0003] Therefore, the nicotine pouch requires a certain hardness along with flexibility to minimize the user's discomfort during use, and sufficient strength is required for the sealing part to prevent leakage of the internal filling material during manufacturing, transportation, and use.
[0004] Nicotine pouches are generally made of non-woven materials and are manufactured by packaging a certain amount of nicotine powder using a heat sealing or ultrasonic sealing device, using a three-sided or back-sided packaging method, which is a common powder packaging method.
[0005] When using a heat sealing device, sealing is generally performed at a temperature of 100 to 300°C using a packaging material containing thermoplastic fibers or a packaging material containing a binder.
[0006] At this time, depending on the sealing width and sealing method, the internal powder may leak out during transportation and use by the consumer after packaging, and a foreign body sensation may be felt in the mouth due to the sealing part.
[0007] Therefore, there is a need for a packaging method for a nicotine pouch using an appropriate sealing width and sealing method that can provide sufficient sealing strength without causing a foreign body sensation in the oral cavity.
[0008] The present invention is intended to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a method for packaging a nicotine pouch in which the internal filler does not leak through the sealing portion during manufacturing, transportation, and use, and the user does not feel a foreign body sensation in the mouth.
[0009] However, the problems to be solved by the present invention are not limited to those mentioned above, and other problems not mentioned will be clearly understood by those skilled in the art from the description below.
[0010] One aspect of the present invention provides a method for packaging a nicotine pouch, wherein a longitudinal seal and a cross seal of a packaging material are formed, the packaging material includes pulp and thermoplastic resin fiber, the width of the longitudinal seal and the cross seal is 2 mm to 5 mm, and the sealing temperature for forming the longitudinal seal and the cross seal is 110°C to 160°C.
[0011] According to one embodiment, the pulp may comprise soft pulp, and the thermoplastic resin fiber may comprise PP / PE fiber.
[0012] According to one embodiment, the packaging material may comprise 50 to 80 wt% of soft pulp and 20 to 50 wt% of PP / PE.
[0013] According to one embodiment, the packaging material may comprise 55 to 65 wt% of soft pulp and 35 to 45 wt% of PP / PE.
[0014] According to one embodiment, the cross seal may be sealed in a lap seal manner.
[0015] According to one embodiment, the width of the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 2 mm to 3 mm, and the sealing temperature for forming the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 140°C to 160°C.
[0016] According to one embodiment, the width of the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 5 mm, and the sealing temperature for forming the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 110°C to 130°C.
[0017] According to one embodiment, the sealing strength of the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 0.2 N / mm or more.
[0018] Another aspect of the present invention provides a nicotine pouch manufactured by the above packaging method.
[0019] The packaging method of a nicotine pouch according to the present invention can have the effect of preventing powder leakage during manufacturing, transportation, and use by controlling the width of the seal and the sealing temperature, and minimizing the foreign body sensation that a user may feel due to the sealing portion during use.
[0020] The effects of the present invention are not limited to the effects described above, and should be understood to include all effects that can be inferred from the detailed description of the present invention or the composition of the invention described in the claims.
[0021] Figure 1 is a schematic diagram showing the packaging method of a nicotine pouch.
[0022] Figure 2 shows the horizontal and vertical seals of a nicotine pouch.
[0023] Figure 3 shows the results of comparing the sealing shape and sealing strength of the wrap seal and pin seal methods.
[0024] Hereinafter, embodiments are described in detail with reference to the attached drawings. However, the embodiments may be modified in various ways, and the scope of the patent application is not limited or restricted by these embodiments. It should be understood that all modifications, equivalents, or alternatives to the embodiments are included within the scope of the patent application.

[0028]
[0029] One aspect of the present invention provides a method for packaging a nicotine pouch, wherein a longitudinal seal and a cross seal of a packaging material are formed, the packaging material includes pulp and thermoplastic resin fiber, the width of the longitudinal seal and the cross seal is 2 mm to 5 mm, and the sealing temperature for forming the longitudinal seal and the cross seal is 110°C to 160°C.
[0030] If the width of the horizontal seal and vertical seal exceeds the above range, it may cause a foreign body sensation in the user's mouth during use, and if it is too small, the sealing strength may be reduced, causing the internal filler to leak out.
[0031] In addition, if the sealing temperature exceeds the above range, surface hardening and discoloration may occur, and if it falls below the above range, sufficient sealing strength may not be secured, resulting in a problem of internal filler leakage.
[0032]
[0033] Since the sealing area varies depending on the sealing width of the pouch, the sealing temperature required to secure sealing characteristics varies, and the resulting phenomena vary. Specifically, a smaller sealing width can minimize the user's discomfort during use, but there is a risk of the seal bursting due to insufficient sealing strength. In addition, a higher sealing temperature increases the sealing strength, but quality deterioration due to surface hardening and discoloration may be a problem. Therefore, there is a need for optimization of the sealing width and the resulting sealing temperature.
[0034] Therefore, preferably, the width of the horizontal seal and vertical seal may be 2 mm to 3 mm, and the sealing temperature for forming the horizontal seal and vertical seal may be 140°C to 160°C.
[0035] Alternatively, preferably, the width of the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 5 mm, and the sealing temperature for forming the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 110°C to 130°C.
[0036] When the seal width is 2 mm to 3 mm, if the sealing temperature falls below the lower limit, sufficient sealing strength may not be secured, and there is a possibility that the internal filler may leak through the sealing portion. If the sealing temperature exceeds the upper limit, there is a risk of surface hardening and discoloration.
[0037] On the other hand, when the seal width is 5 mm, the area of the sealing portion increases compared to when the seal width is 2 mm to 3 mm, so that sufficient sealing strength can be formed for pouch manufacturing even when sealing is performed at a relatively low temperature.
[0038]
[0039] According to one embodiment, the pulp may comprise one or more of the group consisting of soft pulp, viscose, lyocell, ramie, flax, and bamboo fibers. Preferably, the pulp may comprise soft pulp.
[0040] According to one embodiment, the thermoplastic resin fiber may comprise at least one selected from the group consisting of polypropylene / polyethylene (PP / PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Preferably, the thermoplastic resin fiber may comprise PP / PE fiber.
[0041] In this way, when using soft pulp as pulp and PP / PE as thermoplastic resin fiber, it is possible to manufacture a nonwoven fabric that satisfies the physical specifications as a nicotine pouch packaging material by wet-laid method.
[0042] According to one embodiment, the packaging material may comprise 50 to 80 wt% of soft pulp and 20 to 50 wt% of PP / PE, preferably 55 to 65 wt% of soft pulp and 35 to 45 wt% of PP / PE, and more preferably 60 wt% of soft pulp and 40 wt% of PP / PE.
[0043] If the content of PP / PE is less than the lower limit above, the sealing strength of the pouch may not be sufficient, causing the pouch to burst. If the content of PP / PE exceeds the upper limit above, not only may the web of the packaging material not be formed properly, but the physical properties such as tensile rate and tensile strength for packaging may not be satisfied, making it unsuitable for use as a packaging material for the pouch.
[0044]
[0045] According to one embodiment, the cross seal may be sealed in a lap seal manner.
[0046] The horizontal seal is the part that directly touches the inner side of the lips and gums, and is the most important factor in determining the degree of foreign body sensation when the consumer uses the product. This can be formed using the lap seal method or the fin seal method.
[0047] As shown in Fig. 3, a lap seal is a sealing method in which the inner and outer surfaces of both ends of the packaging material are in contact with each other, and a fin seal is a sealing method in which the inner surfaces of both ends of the packaging material are in contact with each other. In terms of usability and sealing strength, the lap seal method is superior to the fin seal method.
[0048] Referring to Fig. 3, it can be confirmed that the wrap seal method exhibits higher sealing strength than the pin seal method at the same sealing width and sealing temperature.
[0049]
[0050] According to one embodiment, the sealing strength of the horizontal seal and the vertical seal may be 0.2 N / mm or more.
[0051] In order to prevent the internal filler from leaking out through the sealing portion during the manufacture, movement and use of the pouch, the sealing portion must have sufficient sealing strength, which must be at least 0.2 N / mm.
[0052]
[0053] Another aspect of the present invention provides a nicotine pouch manufactured by any one of the above packaging methods.
[0054] A nicotine pouch is a type of smoking article, typically comprised of an inner filling material and an outer packaging material for packaging. The inner filling material may include nicotine, a pH regulator, a binder, a flavoring agent, and the like. A nicotine pouch can be manufactured by packaging the inner filling material according to one embodiment of the present invention.
[0055]
[0056] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail through examples. The following examples are provided for the purpose of illustrating the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
[0057]
[0058] <Experimental Example 1> Confirmation of the optimal sealing temperature at a sealing width of 2 mm
[0059] In order to determine the optimal sealing temperature according to the sealing width, a heat sealing device was used to seal the packaging material by adjusting the sealing width to 2 mm and the sealing temperature to 120 ℃, 150 ℃, 180 ℃, and 210 ℃, and then the sealing strength was measured and the presence of surface hardening and discoloration was checked.
[0060] The sealing strength was calculated as an average value of 10 samples based on the CRM no. 90 test conditions, and the information on the nonwoven fabric samples used is shown in Table 1 below.
[0061] Manufacturer's fiber composition basis weight (g / m) 2 ) Thickness (㎛) Tensile strength (N / ㎜) Elongation (%) Domestically manufactured Soft pulp (60%) + PP / PE (40%) 26.595.01.282.8
[0062] The measured sealing strength and surface changes are shown in Table 2 below.
[0063] Sealing temperature (℃) 120 150 180 210 Sealing strength (N / mm, dry) 0.04 ± 0.02 0.27 ± 0.02 0.34 ± 0.03 0.39 ± 0.03 Surface deformation XXOO
[0064] Referring to Table 2, when the sealing width is 2 mm, sufficient sealing strength is formed at 150°C or higher, but surface hardening or discoloration occurs at 180°C or higher.
[0065]
[0066] <Experimental Example 2> Confirmation of the optimal sealing temperature at a sealing width of 3 mm
[0067] To determine the optimal sealing temperature according to the sealing width, the sealing strength was measured and surface hardening and discoloration were checked in the same manner as in Experimental Example 1, except that the sealing width was set to 3 mm.
[0068] The measured sealing strength and surface changes are shown in Table 3 below.
[0069] Sealing temperature (℃) 120 150 180 210 Sealing strength (N / mm, dry) 0.18 ± 0.02 0.22 ± 0.02 0.26 ± 0.03 0.33 ± 0.03 Surface deformation XXOO
[0070] Referring to Table 3, it can be confirmed that sufficient sealing strength is formed at temperatures above 150°C, similar to when the sealing width is 2 mm. However, in Experimental Example 2, surface hardening and discoloration occurred at temperatures above 180°C.
[0071]
[0072] <Experimental Example 3> Confirmation of the optimal sealing temperature at a sealing width of 5 mm
[0073] To determine the optimal sealing temperature according to the sealing width, the sealing strength was measured and surface hardening and discoloration were checked in the same manner as Experimental Example 1, except that the sealing width was set to 5 mm.
[0074] Sealing temperature (℃) 120 150 180 210 Sealing strength (N / mm, dry) 0.26 ± 0.02 0.26 ± 0.02 0.26 ± 0.03 0.35 ± 0.03 Surface deformation XXOO
[0075] Referring to Table 4, it can be seen that when the sealing width is 5 mm, sufficient sealing strength is formed even at 120°C, and even in this case, it can be confirmed that surface hardening and discoloration occur at temperatures above 180°C.
[0076] Through the results of the above experimental examples 1 to 3, it can be seen that when the sealing width is 2 to 3 mm, the most preferable sealing temperature is 150°C, which can form sufficient sealing strength without causing surface hardening or discoloration, and when the sealing width is 5 mm, the most preferable sealing temperature is 120°C, which can form sufficient sealing strength at the lowest temperature without causing surface hardening or discoloration.
[0077]
[0078] Although the embodiments described above have been described with limited drawings, those skilled in the art will appreciate that various technical modifications and variations can be applied based on the above. For example, appropriate results can still be achieved even if the described techniques are performed in a different order than described, and / or the described components are combined or combined in a different manner than described, or are replaced or substituted with other components or equivalents.
[0079] Therefore, other implementations, other embodiments, and equivalents to the claims also fall within the scope of the claims described below.
