Description

COMPOSITION FOR TREATING KERATIN MATERIALTECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present invention relates to a composition for treating keratin material, and especially relates to a skincare composition.BACKGROUND ART

[0002] Cosmetic actives are usually applied to the skin using compositions into which they have been incorporated. These compositions are typically in the form of creams, milks or gels which are spread onto the skin while massaging with the fingertips in order to promote penetration of the composition, and, in particular, penetration of the actives into the skin.

[0003] With the needs of cosmetic functions increasing, consumers are looking for high potent skincare products. As known in the art, peptides and plant extracts like vitex agnus-castus extract can improve efficacy of the cosmetic products, including anti-aging, whitening, soothing and anti-oxidation, etc. Hence, it is desirable to comprise an amount of as high as possible of peptides and / or plant extracts like vitex agnus-castus extract in the cosmetic products, especially skincare products.

[0004] Currently, most actives, e.g., peptides and vitex agnus-castus extract, are comprised in commercial formulations as raw materials in the form of solution or emulsion, and such commercial formulations often further simultaneously comprise a very high amount, e.g., more than 90 wt. %, of solvents, especially water and polyols, and a relatively lower amount of at least one of surfactants, dispersing agents, preservatives and thickeners, e.g., less than 10 wt. %in total. For some of the commercial formulations, the amount of the peptides or vitex agnus-castus extract is often about 1.5 wt. %or less than 1 wt. %, or even as low as about 0.01 wt. %, relative to the total weight of the formulations. In this way, when preparing the cosmetic products comprising peptides and / or vitex agnus-castus extract, especially the cosmetic products comprising a relatively high amount of peptides and / or vitex agnus-castus extract, a relatively high amount of formulations as raw materials need to be added into the cosmetic products, which makes it very difficult to achieve desirable stability, appearance and / or sensory for the final product, and some formulae even cannot be sufficiently emulsified during preparation and thus cannot obtain a desirable emulsified product.

[0005] Therefore, there is a need for a cosmetic product, especially in the form of an O / W cream, which can comprise peptide and / or vitex agnus-castus extract, especially a  relatively higher amount of peptide and / or vitex agnus-castus extract, and have sufficient emulsifying and desirable stability even over a long period of time and a wide temperature range of storage or use, and can also provide good sensory for the customers.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0006] The inventors have found that such a need can be achieved by the composition according to the present invention.

[0186] EXAMPLES

[0187] Main raw materials used, trade names and supplier thereof were listed in Table 1.

[0188] Table 1

[0189] Comparative Examples 1-6 and Inventive Example 1

[0190] The compositions according to comparative examples (CE. ) 1-6 and inventive example (Ex. ) 1 comprising the ingredients shown in Table 2 were prepared, with all amounts expressed by percentages by weight of active matters with regard to the total weight of each composition.

[0191] Table 2

[0192] Preparation Process

[0193] The compositions were prepared from a process comprising the following steps, taking composition of Inventive Example 1 for example:

[0194] 1) . mixing butylene glycol, glycerin, water, and potassium cetyl phosphate to form a water phase, and mixing glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, apricot kernel oil, dimethicone, and Poloxamer 338 to form an oil phase, and heating the water phase and the oil phase to a temperature of 80℃ respectively;

[0195] 2) . introducing the oil phase into the water phase to form Mixture 1 and emulsifying Mixture 1 for ten minutes;

[0196] 3) . cooling down Mixture 1 to a temperature of 50℃, and then adding the actives of acetyl dipeptide-1 cetyl ester and vitex agnus-castus extract into Mixture 1 to form Mixture 2; and

[0197] 4) . cooling down Mixture 2 to a temperature of 35℃ to form the final composition and stirring it until homogenous.

[0198] Tests of Stability

[0199] Performances for estimating stability, including appearance and texture, of each composition of Inventive Example 1 and Comparative Examples 1-6 were checked at T0 (at the beginning of the test) , T1M (1 month later) and T2M (2 months later) at temperatures of 4℃ and Cycle (a cycle of from -20℃ to 20℃ per day) , respectively.

[0200] The performances were checked from a microscope, including ifthe edge was full, and what the size and homogeneity of oil droplets were, wherein the parameter of the microscope was set as 10*10 times.

[0201] The stability test was deemed as not passed if a) the mixture was not emulsified to be cream; or b) the microscope check results showing big and / or irregular oil droplets were observed; or c) the microscope check results showing the edge was not full; or d) the appearance turned rough during stability test at 4℃ and / or Cycle.

[0202] Tests of Sensory

[0203] For each composition of Inventive Example 1 and Comparative Examples 2 and 4-6, six persons were invited to attend the test of sensory. The dermatologists gave the comments on the sensory for each sample, and the respective comments and results were recorded in below Table 3.

[0204] The results obtained were summarized in Table 3.

[0205] Table 3

[0206] From the above Table 3, it can be seen that only the composition of Inventive Example 1, which comprises at least two non-ionic surfactants and at least one non-ionic polymer of the present invention, both passes the stability test, i.e., obtains desirable stability in the form of an O / W cream even over a long period of time, e.g., two months, and a wide temperature range, e.g., 4 ℃ and Cycle, and provides desirable good sensory. By contrast, the compositions of Comparative Examples, which comprise only one non-ionic surfactant or do not comprise a non-ionic polymer do not pass the stability test and / or cannot obtain desirable good sensory.
