Description

Multifunction stick Technical field

[0001] The present invention relates to a multifunctional stick, being in particular modular and adapted to contain various accessories, preferably removable. The stick of the present invention provides assistance for walking in nature. It also contains the tools and accessories necessary for life in a natural environment, such as a fishing rod, a saw, a bow and arrows, a compass, a lamp and any other suitable utensil. State of the art

[0002] Outdoor leisure activities attract many enthusiasts. In addition to occasional hiking, multi-day treks or total immersion in the wilderness, or even survival training, are increasingly popular. These activities require suitable equipment, often including several distinct accessories. In particular, tools such as a knife, a shovel, or a saw are often necessary to set up a bivouac. Hunting or fishing tools are also recommended for long immersions. These various accessories are bulky and heavy for the hiker. Their sheer number can also hamper the user's movements and requires careful organization of each activity based on the accessories to be used, which takes time and organizational effort. Given the multiple individual accessories, some can easily get lost.

[0003] Retractable or telescopic walking poles are known for being lightweight and compact. However, such poles are an essential addition to a walker's equipment.

[0004] It is therefore necessary to develop solutions that enable the user to be best equipped for their needs, while maintaining light, robust and easy-to-use equipment. Brief summary of the invention

[0005] An object of the present invention is to provide a device free from the limitations mentioned above. An object of the present invention is in particular to provide a multifunctional stick, suitable for walking and used as an accessory and / or tool holder.

[0006] Another aim of the invention is to provide a kit comprising a stick suitable for walking and several accessories and / or accessory holders.

[0007] Another aim of the present invention is to provide a modular or adjustable walking stick, allowing great flexibility in its uses or applications.

[0008] Another aim of the present invention is to provide compact, lightweight, reliable and robust leisure equipment, in particular equipment for hiking or living in a natural environment.

[0009] According to the invention, these aims are achieved in particular by means of the stick and the kit which are the subject of the appended claims.

[0010] This solution has the particular advantage over the prior art of providing leisure equipment, particularly for living in a natural environment, which is more compact and modular than current equipment. Brief description of the figures

[0011] Examples of implementation of the invention are indicated in the description illustrated by the following figures: • Figure 1: Schematic perspective representation of a stick of the present description according to an exemplary embodiment, • Figure 2: Perspective representation of a segment or stick module of the present description according to an exemplary embodiment, • Figures 3a, 3b, 3c: Partial perspective representation of an internal structure of the stick of the present description according to some examples of embodiment, • Figure 4a: Schematic representation of a tip of the stick of the present description according to an exemplary embodiment, • Figure 4b: Schematic representation of a tool and a tip of the stick of the present description according to an exemplary embodiment, • Figure 5: Schematic representation of a tip of the stick of the present description according to an exemplary embodiment. Example(s) of embodiment of the invention

[0012] The multifunctional stick 1 according to the present description is illustrated by figures 1 and 2. The term "stick" designates an elongated object of sufficient length to serve as support for a walker. The total length of the stick is however not limited and depends on the number of modules combined. It varies from a value of the order of 80 cm to a value of the order of 1.80 m, typically of the order of 1 m to 1.50, or of the order of 1.20 m to 1.40 m. An ideal length for an adult can be around 1.35 m + / - 10 cm.

[0013] At least two modules 10a, 10b are connected to each other so as to form a larger stick 1. The connection of the modules 10a, 10b aims to fix them end-to-end along the longitudinal axis A of the stick. In other words, the end of a first module 10a is connected to one end of a second module 10b.

[0014] A module is here understood as an elongated element forming a part, a segment or a section of the stick. The connected modules are not necessarily identical. They may for example vary in their diameter, their length, in their internal or external structure, or in several of these parameters. The stick is here described as being a multifunctional stick which, in addition to a walking aid, serves as an accessory holder and / or a tool handle. As such, the different modules 10a, 10b, can be designed to accommodate certain specific accessories. Depending on the different modules combined, the multifunctional stick 1 will be adapted to different situations.

[0015] The different modules 10a, 10b are connected to each other by a removable connection means 11, allowing them to be assembled and dissociated on demand. Different connection means can be used, provided that they allow a robust assembly of the modules 10a, 10b. According to one embodiment, a fitting of the ends of the modules can be provided. For this purpose, a module can be provided with a female part 11a at one of its ends and a male part 11b at its opposite end (figure 2). The female part of a first module 10a is then adapted to be combined with the male part of a second module 10b. Other configurations can nevertheless be provided, according to which a module can be provided with female parts 11a at each of its ends and another module provided with male parts 11b at each of its ends.

[0016] A female part 11a typically has an outer diameter coinciding with the inner diameter of the corresponding male part 11b so as to fit therein. The diameter of the female part 11a is thus seen as less than the diameter of the male part 11b. The surfaces of the female 11a and male 11b parts are sufficiently adjusted to keep the modules 10a, 10b aligned and avoid any movement around the longitudinal axis A. The length of the contacting surfaces of the female 11a and male 11b parts is also adapted to avoid excessive play. It is for example of the order of 2 to 8 cm, typically 4 to 6 cm or of the order of 5 cm. These values are however not limiting and can be adapted according to requirements. The geometry of the contacting surfaces of the female 11a and male 11b parts can also vary according to requirements. They can for example be circular or oval.Alternatively, they can form a polygonal surface, such as square, or hexagonal or octagonal, or comprising more than 8 sides. In this way, relative rotations of the connected modules are impossible. Non-symmetrical shapes can be envisaged, serving for example as a foolproofing device. Thus, a female part 11a can only fit into a male part 11b according to a single orientation, making it possible to define the relative angular position of the connected modules 10a, 10b. Alternatively, the geometry of the female 11a and male 11b parts is symmetrical.

[0017] Preferably, the female 11a and male 11b parts can be locked together so that the corresponding modules remain integral with each other. According to one embodiment, one or the other of the female 11a and male 11b parts can be slightly conical so as to increase the friction forces depending on the degree of nesting of one in the other. The retention of the modules can however weaken with the wear of the female 11a and male 11b parts. Alternatively or in addition, an elastic coating can be deposited on one or the other of the female 11a and male 11b parts to reinforce the contact and the friction and thus secure the assembly. Alternatively or in addition, a locking device such as a spring blade, or a clip can be provided.

[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment, the female part 11a may be provided with one or more retractable devices 110a such as a ball or a retractable lug. The male part 11b is then provided with one or more housings 110b in which the retractable device(s) of the female part 11a can be housed after fitting into the male part 11b. Preferably, the number of retractable devices of the female part 11a corresponds to the number of housings 110b of the male part 11b. However, the female part 11a may contain, for example, a single retractable device 110a for several possible housings in the male part 11b so as to be able to select several relative angular positions of the modules 10a, 10b. Alternatively, the female 11a and male 11b portions may be threaded so that the female 11a threads into the male 11b portion until tightened. In this case, the relative angular position of connected modules may not be fully reproducible, unless a stop system is provided.

[0019] Figure 1 shows a combination of two different modules 10a, 10b. Figure 2 shows a module 10, which can be inserted between the modules of Figure 1. According to such a configuration, the stick 1 of the present description comprises three modules including a central module 10 and two lateral modules 10a, 10b. Other configurations are possible according to requirements.

[0020] The various modules are designed to remain robust while being lightweight. For this purpose, they comprise a hollow and rigid body 12a, 12b, made for example of a metal or a metal alloy, or of composite materials such as carbon fibers or glass fibers, or a set of several of these materials, and providing a tubular structure. Such a structure may be cylindrical, or of circular section. It may alternatively have an oval section, making it possible to increase the internal volume and to promote storage spaces for accessories. It is not excluded that, depending on the needs, one or more of the modules 10a, 10b have a polygonal section, such as square, hexagonal or octagonal. For reasons of weight and maneuverability, the tubular body 12a, 12b of the modules 10a, 10b is preferably made of composite materials, for example based on carbon fibers or glass fibers. Alternatively, materials based on plant fibers can be considered. The connection means 11 can be metallic for optimal robustness.

[0021] The diameter of the tubular bodies 12a, 12b of a module may be uniform over the entire length of the corresponding module. Alternatively, a variation in the diameter of the tubular body 12a, 12b may be provided over a section of the corresponding module 10a, 10b, for example allowing more storage space to be provided locally.

[0022] The geometry of the tubular body 12a, 12b is preferably uniform over the entire length of the corresponding module 10a, 10b. A local variation in geometry is however not totally excluded. The tubular body may for example have a flat, or locally take a polygonal section while the rest of its section is cylindrical, or vice versa.

[0023] A tubular body is preferably rectilinear so as to form a straight stick. However, it is possible to locally provide a step or a curved shape, for example, a crankshaft or crank shape that can allow the stick to be used as a rotary tool or for other uses.

[0024] The tubular body 12a, 12b of the modules 10a, 10b includes recesses 14a, 14b, 14c for housing accessories. Depending on the number and arrangement of such housings, the stick 1 may be weakened. Increasing the thickness of the tubular bodies 12a, 12b to increase their robustness would be to the detriment of the weight of the stick 1. In addition, the accessories must be correctly fixed to the stick 1, which would require very tight-fitting recesses 14a, 14b, 14c which could make handling the accessories more difficult. In order to increase the robustness and reliability of the stick without affecting its weight, the multifunctional stick according to the present invention The invention comprises a structure 13, 13a, 13b internal to the tubular body 12a, 12b. The internal structure 13, 13a, 13b may have a planar shape, as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2. Figures 3a, 3b, 3c illustrate alternative examples of internal structures 13 which may be included in the tubular body, and which may have a non-planar shape. Figure 3a shows an internal structure 13 of cross-shaped section. Figure 3b shows an internal structure of T-shaped section. Figure 3c shows another example of an angular internal structure comprising a planar central surface adjoined by several lateral reinforcements. The internal structure 13, 13a, 13b is thus in close contact with the internal surface of the tubular body 12a, 12b. It may for example be welded there, or force-fitted, or inserted into a longitudinal groove of the tubular body 12a, 12b.The internal structure 13, 13a, 13b then gives the various modules, and the multifunction stick 1, the necessary strength while keeping its weight as low as possible. According to an advantageous embodiment, the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b, can be perforated over part of its surface. According to one embodiment, the internal structure 13 forms a grid rather than a solid shape. According to one embodiment, the recesses of the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b form inscriptions or logos. The internal structure 13, 13a, 13b is visible to the user through the recesses 14, 14a, 14b of the tubular body 12, 12a, 12b. In the case where the internal structure is perforated, inscriptions designating the accessories to be placed in the corresponding recess can be inscribed therein for easier use of the stick 1.The internal structure may be made of any suitable material such as a metal or metal alloy, a rigid polymer, a composite material, or a combination of these materials.

[0025] According to one embodiment, one or more spacers, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis A, may be provided on the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b so as to reinforce the stick 1. The spacers, arranged in the internal space of the tubular body 12, 12a, 12b, advantageously make it possible to provide compartments, serving for example as storage. According to one embodiment, at least some of the spacers divide the internal space of the tubular body into watertight compartments. In this way, the stick according to the present invention can float. when it falls into the water of a river or lake for example, which helps prevent its loss. In addition, the waterproof compartments can be used to preserve any electrical devices associated with the stick, such as a lamp.

[0026] Each of the modules 10a, 10b preferably comprises an internal structure 13, 13a, 13b as described here, extending over the majority of their length. For example, the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b may extend over the entire length of the corresponding module 10, 10a, 10b. Alternatively, the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b may extend over a value of the order of 60% to 90% of the length of the corresponding module 10, 10a, 10b. The internal structure 13, 13a, 13b may be arranged continuously along the tubular body 10, 10a, 10b or else located at the most fragile and / or most stressed locations. The ends of the modules 10, 10a, 10b can remain free of internal structure 13, 13a, 13b, in particular when they are provided with the connection means 11.

[0027] In addition to the reinforcement provided, the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b makes it possible to immobilize the accessories possibly housed in the recesses of the tubular body 12a, 12b. The internal structure may comprise for this purpose compartments adapted to the storage of specific accessories. The tubular body may be provided with closing means such as a removable or sliding cover 20. According to one embodiment, a tube concentric with the tubular body 12, 12a, 12b, and sliding along the tubular body 12, 12a, 12b, may serve as a closure for a compartment. In addition, a seal may be provided to keep the compartment out of water if necessary.

[0028] According to one embodiment, several modules 10, 10a, 10b may be assembled so as to form a common recess extending over several of the assembled modules. Figure 1 illustrates such a configuration, in which the recess 14c extends to the end of the modules so as to establish continuity after their connection. In other words, one or more recesses may extend over more than 50% or 80% or 90% of the stick 1 once the corresponding modules are connected. Alternatively, one or more recesses may extend over more than 50% or 80% or 90% of the length of the corresponding module. According to such an arrangement, the recess makes it possible to house in the stick an elongated accessory such as a flexible blade whose length exceeds that of the modules 12, 12a, 12b, taken individually. Such a flexible blade may for example form a bow body, integrated into the stick 1. Such a flexible blade may then consist of a single blade fixed to the stick 1 at its center and whose ends remain free. They may be connected by a cable or a rope to form the bow. The user can then grasp the center of the stick and use the flexible blade as a bow. The rope or cable is preferably housed in one of the recesses 14 of the tubular body. The ends of the flexible blade can each be fitted with a metal part or a magnet. The ends of the modules 10, 10a, 10b may be provided with a magnet to hold the flexible blades pressed into the corresponding recess 14c when the bow is not in use. Alternatively, each of the modules 10, 10a, 10b comprises a half blade, one end of which is associated with the corresponding module and the other end of which is removably fixed thereto, for example by means of magnets. The ends associated with the modules are arranged opposite each other when the corresponding modules are connected. Other equivalent arrangements may be envisaged. For example, the tubular body 12, 12a, 12b of two modules may form a handle at their connection, into which a flexible blade may be slid and fixed afterwards.

[0029] According to one embodiment, the different recesses 14, 14a, 14b of the tubular body may be sufficiently close to each other, so that the tubular body separating the contiguous recesses forms a handle 15. Such a handle may be used to hold one or more accessories.

[0030] The tubular body 12, 12a, 12b may further comprise one or more comfort devices on its external surface. For example, a rubber coating may be provided at one end of a module or close to one end of a module, thus being able to form a handle useful to the walker. Such a handle may optionally be accompanied by a wrist strap or a safety lanyard. Other non-removable equipment may be envisaged. For example, a section of the tubular body 12, 12a, 12b may be coated with a reflective surface.

[0031] The modules 10, 10a, 10b, when connected to each other, together form a longitudinal structure having a first end 16a and a second end 16b. The first 16a and second 16b ends of the stick are used to attach additional accessories to the stick 1. For this purpose, they may be provided with a removable end piece 17a, 17b. The removable end pieces 17a, 17b may comprise the same connection means 11 as those already described above for the connection of the modules 12, 12a, 12b. In this case, they may comprise a female part or a male part adapted to connect to the corresponding modules. A locking device like those described above, or a different one, may be provided.A removable tip may be attached to the lower end of the pole 1 and may include a metal spike or a pad of elastic material such as rubber, to reinforce or properly position the end of the pole when walking. Alternatively, the lower end of the pole 1 may be provided with a watertight cap or plug so as to keep the internal space of the tubular body dry. The tips 17a, 17b may serve as a tool holder.

[0032] According to one embodiment, a tip 17b is designed as a fishing rod holder. For this purpose, it comprises a strand 170b provided with a line passage 171b (figure 1) for inserting a fishing line. The stick 1 serves in this case as a fishing rod. According to a particular arrangement, a reel can be added to the corresponding module. A suitable recess can be provided therein so that the reel can be fixed to the corresponding internal structure 13b. Alternatively or in addition, additional strands can be added to the tip 17b to increase the length and / or flexibility of the fishing rod. For this purpose, one or more strands can be inserted into the end of the stick 1 when not in use and be fixed, for example by screwing onto the strand 170b of the end piece 17b. Alternatively, the strand 17b can be telescopic and nested in the internal space of the corresponding tubular body. The internal structure 13, 13a, 13b is then adapted accordingly to provide sufficient space and accommodate the fishing rod strand(s).

[0033] A bit 17c can be used as a saw holder (Figure 4a, 4b). For this purpose, the bit can be provided with a slot or groove 170c into which the bit of a saw can be inserted. A locking system such as that of Figure 4b can be provided therein to hold the saw in place during use. Such a system comprises, for example, a shoulder 171c on the edges of the insertion slot 170c shorter than the length of the insertion slot so as to provide a lateral stop 172c at the bottom of the insertion slot 170c. A saw 200 provided with a widening 210 can then be inserted into the insertion slot 170c above the shoulder 171c so that the widening 210 fits behind the lateral stop 172c. A point screw can then be arranged laterally to press the tool into the insertion slot 170c and keep the widening 210 against the lateral stop 172c.Such a needle screw may, for example, be arranged on the internal structure and actuated from a recess in the tubular body. The needle screw is preferably actuated without tools. It may have an articulated head serving as a key for turning it. As an alternative to the needle screw system, other quick-release clamping systems may be used to hold the tool in the end piece.

[0034] Other tools than a saw can be inserted into such a holder. For example, a shovel with a suitable tip to attach behind the 172c side stop. Accessories such as an ice axe or a hammer can also be provided.

[0035] A tip 17d (figure 5) may be adapted for storing arrows. For this purpose, it may include one or more holes 170d allowing one or more arrows to be slid into the tubular body 12. The surrounding of the hole(s) forms an arrow support 171d adapted to hold the arrows in place. The diameter of the hole is then adapted to that of the arrows so as to ensure sufficient friction to hold the arrows. Alternatively or in addition, a magnet can be provided to cooperate with the metal tip of the arrows to hold them in place.

[0036] According to one embodiment, a given tip 17 may have several functions. For example, the tip used to hold the arrows 170d may include an insertion slot 170c described above and adapted for the attachment of another tool.

[0037] Other end pieces 17 may be envisaged depending on the needs. Different end pieces 17 may be combined with different modules 10, 10a, 10b as required. Alternatively, it may be provided that a given end piece is fixed to the end of a given module in a non-removable manner. A module may for example be designed by construction for a specific application, such as fishing. In this case, the end piece associated with the module will serve as a fishing rod holder and the corresponding module will include suitable accessories, such as line and hooks. In the case of modules forming a bow body, one of the end pieces may be dedicated by construction to the storage of arrows.

[0038] The number of modules, as well as their nature, is not intended to be limited. While two or three modules can advantageously form a multifunctional pole as described here, it is not excluded to connect more than three modules. The resulting pole may be longer than a usual walking stick. Alternatively, the length of the individual modules may be limited to a few tens of centimeters, such as 20 to 50 cm, so that a greater variety of modules can be combined.

[0039] According to one embodiment, a stick according to the present invention comprises a central module 10 and two lateral modules 10a, 10b fixed on either side of the central module. The tubular body of the lateral modules each comprises a longitudinal recess 14c over at least 80% of their length and can be arranged opposite each other. They can furthermore each comprise a flexible blade. The two flexible blades thus arranged form a bow body. The tubular body of the central module 10 then serves as a handle and / or arrow holder for shooting the bow. One of the side modules comprises a tip 17 suitable for walking, such as a rubber cap or a pick. The other tip 17 is used to store arrows and can possibly be used as a saw holder, for example. Alternative configurations can be envisaged.

[0040] According to another embodiment, a stick according to the present invention comprises only two modules 10a, 10b fixed to each other. The length of the two modules is then adapted to the needs. It can be of the order of 40 to 70 cm.

[0041] Various accessories may be removably associated with the stick 1. They are preferably housed in the recesses 14, 14a, 14b, 14c of the tubular body so as to rest on the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b. The internal structure may locally comprise three-dimensional shapes complementary to the corresponding accessories. Preferably, a fastening means suitable for holding the accessories is provided. For example, the internal structure 13, 13a, 13b may be provided with magnets at the recesses 14, 14a, 14b, so as to hold the metal accessories in place. Other fastening means may nevertheless be provided as required. For example, a rough strip of the Velcro® and / or elastic type may be fixed to the tubular body so as to surround the recess and hold the corresponding accessory there. Alternatively, a sliding or hinged cover may be provided.Alternatively, a textile or rubber sleeve covering a recess can be considered.

[0042] The various accessories that the stick described here can include are defined according to needs. They are selected from a compass, a flashlight, fishing line, metal wire, a spirit level, a thermometer, one or more water purification cartridges, arrows, a saw, a shovel, an ice axe, an axe, a hammer, a drill or auger, or any other tool deemed necessary.

[0043] The pole 1 may be provided with a means of attachment for its transport. This arrangement may be useful if it is not used as a walking stick. For example, a strap may be combined with each of its ends so that it can be worn over the shoulder. Alternatively, one or more external magnets may be arranged on the tubular body so as to attach it to a backpack also provided with magnets or a suitable metal part, or any other equivalent equipment. Bulky accessories, such as a shovel or a saw, may be organized separately in a container such as an easily transportable bag. Such a bag may be used as a backpack and also allow the storage and / or transport of the pole.

[0044] The present description further covers a kit comprising a set of several modules 10, 10a, 10b described herein. Such a kit may comprise two side modules 10a, 10b which can be combined with each other or a set of two side modules 10a, 10b and a central module 10. A kit may comprise several central modules of different shapes and natures on which the side modules can be assembled according to requirements. Alternatively or in addition, the kit may comprise more than two side modules, which can be fixed indifferently to a central module. Alternatively, more than two or three side modules can be assembled with each other. The kit further comprises one or more end pieces 17.

[0045] The kit may also include an assortment of accessories from those mentioned above. The accessories may be standard or specifically designed for the multifunction stick 1.

[0046] The stick described here can be made in several versions, for example, a version suitable for children. In this case, the size will be reduced. Alternatively or in addition, the accessories can be adapted to the young audience, for example, being devoid of sharp or dangerous tools. A version without accessories can also be proposed. In this case, the pole according to the present invention has its internal structure giving it both robustness and lightness, as well as its modular character. A limited number of recesses can be proposed in the tubular body, thus providing the user with some storage spaces for his own utensils. The waterproof compartments of such a pole remain a definite advantage compared to other walking poles. According to a particular arrangement, the recesses of the tubular body can be arranged so as to further reduce the weight of the pole. According to another arrangement, a single module can be proposed, with or without accessories, and adapted to be combined with other elements. In this case, a module can be connected at one of its ends to a handle whose diameter is particularly suited to its grip and at the other end to an extension of diameter similar to a traditional walking stick, of the order of 1 to 3 cm. Such an extension can be made of metal. In this way, the central module, with the largest diameter, can be used as an accessory holder without encumbering the walker with an excessively large diameter.
