The food carrier is suitable for use in a steamer tub of a steam treatment drawer.
[0008] US 11 402 105 B2 discloses a warming drawer insert that can be inserted and removed from a warming drawer without tools via a series of flanges positioned along the walls of the warming drawer insert. These flanges also suspend the warming drawer insert within the warming drawer and create an air gap for heated air to flow into the warming drawer through a series of vents along the walls of the warming drawer.
[0009] It is the object of the present invention to at least partially overcome the disadvantages of the prior art and in particular to provide a particularly cost-effective, energy-efficient, easy-to-clean and low-maintenance possibility of generating steam in a steam drawer and directing it into a steam treatment room.
[0010] This object is achieved according to the features of the independent claims. Preferred embodiments can be found in particular in the dependent claims.
[0011] The object is achieved by a steam treatment drawer, having a permanently installed evaporator tray with a closed bottom, a heating device provided (ie, set up and arranged) for heating the bottom of the evaporator tray, a removable cooking tray which can be inserted into the evaporator tray at a distance, a lid covering the cooking tray which, together with the cooking tray, delimits a steam treatment space, wherein when the cooking tray is inserted, a space remains between the evaporator tray and the cooking tray and the space opens into the steam treatment space.
[0012] This steam treatment drawer has the advantage of being simple in design, making it cost-effective to manufacture and low-maintenance. Furthermore, both the cooking tray and the evaporation tray are easy to clean, including descaling. Because the cooking tray is removable, food can be easily inserted and positioned, particularly when the food can be moved from a serving area to the steam drawer. Furthermore, the hot steam in the space between them transfers energy to the cooking tray, causing any condensate that forms in the cooking tray to evaporate. This, in turn, allows for a particularly long time span when adding water.
[0013] The steam treatment drawer corresponds in particular to a steam treatment unit that can be extended and retracted horizontally from a drawer housing of a household cooking appliance. For this purpose, the steam treatment drawer can be connected to the steam treatment drawer, for example, via a pull-out system, e.g., comprising several telescopic rails. The extension and retraction can be manual (e.g., by pulling out or pushing in), power-driven (e.g., by a motor), or power-assisted (e.g., by pulling out or pushing in using a spring).
[0014] The two trays each have an open top, which in the case of the evaporator tray allows the food tray to be inserted from above, and in the case of the cooking trays serves as a loading opening for steam treatment items, in particular food to be cooked. Because the food tray can be inserted into the evaporator tray at a distance, the space between the two trays is formed when the food tray is inserted. In particular, the evaporator tray is deeper, longer and wider than the food tray. A further development is that the inserted food tray rests with its (upper) edge on the evaporator tray, so that advantageously no spacers need to be provided between the food tray and evaporator tray. A further development is that at least one of the trays is made of metal, e.g. stainless steel. It is a further development is that at least one of the trays is made of plastic or glass.
[0015] Essentially, the cooking tray and a lid that directly or indirectly covers the cooking tray define a steam treatment chamber that can be subjected to steam and filled with steam-treated items. A further development is that the steam treatment chamber also has other wall areas - especially to a comparatively small extent - e.g. a border between the cooking tray and the support surface of the lid. A further development is that the closed lid rests on a steam-tight seal. The lid can be made of plastic or glass. A further development is that the lid is transparent at least in some areas. A further development is that the lid is removable by the user. A further development is that the lid is a lid that is pivotally hinged to the steam treatment drawer. A further development is that the lid is arranged in the drawer housing and there, for example,When the drawer is extended or retracted it can slide along it or be raised or lowered.
[0016] The bottom of the evaporator tray can be filled with water, at least in part. The heating device is designed to evaporate the water in the evaporator tray (which may contain aromatics or similar compounds), which then spreads through the intermediate space. The steam is then directed through the intermediate space to the steam treatment chamber.
[0017] In a further development, the heating device has at least one electrically operated resistance heating element arranged beneath the base, e.g., a tubular heater. In a further development, the heating device has at least one electrically operated heating element attached to the outside or underside of the base, e.g., a thick-film or thin-film heating cable. In a further development, the heating device has at least one induction coil which, during operation, generates an alternating magnetic field that can at least locally inductively heat the base of the evaporation tray. For this reason alone, the steam treatment drawer can be regarded as an electrically operated steam treatment drawer. In addition, it can also have further electrical consumers, for example, a user interface, in particular with a display, specifically a touchscreen, etc.
[0018] In one embodiment, the cooking tank has a closed bottom. This has the advantage of preventing condensate from the steam treatment chamber from flowing back to the heatable bottom of the evaporation tank, which promotes cleanliness and hygiene. In one embodiment, the space extends at least from a first intermediate region between the bottoms of the two tanks to a second intermediate region on opposite wall areas of the two tanks, and the second intermediate region opens into the steam treatment chamber. This has the advantage that the generated steam can be introduced into the cooking tank from a comparatively high position. This, in turn, promotes an even distribution of the steam in the steam treatment chamber. Furthermore, even products that completely cover the bottom of the cooking tank can be steam-treated, for example, liquids such as soup or flowing products such as lasagna, etc.
[0019] One design feature is that the food tray has a flange-like, at least partially circumferential upper edge ("top edge"), by means of which it can be placed, especially on the evaporation tray. This is particularly easy to implement, saves space, and provides a stable hold.
[0020] One design is for the evaporation tray to have a flange-like, circumferential upper edge ("support edge") onto which the top edge of the food tray can be placed. This is particularly easy to implement and creates a virtually vapor-tight contact surface between the support edge and the top edge. A further development is for a separate vapor seal to be provided between the support edge and the top edge, which can be arranged, for example, on the top side of the support edge.
[0021] One embodiment provides that the cooking tray has a fully circumferential support edge, the support edge of the evaporator tray is wider than the support edge of the cooking tray, and where the second intermediate area opens into the steam treatment chamber, the support edge of the evaporator tray is lower than the support edge of the cooking tray. This advantageously creates an opening in the second intermediate area that opens into the steam treatment chamber.
[0022] One embodiment provides that the cooking tray has a fully circumferential top edge and at the point where the second intermediate area opens into the steam treatment chamber (and thus into at least one side wall), the cooking tray has at least one opening. This also advantageously allows for the simple creation of at least one opening in the second intermediate area, which opens into the steam treatment chamber. The number, size, shape, and / or position of the openings in the side wall can advantageously be varied.
[0023] One embodiment of the evaporation tray is that it has a particularly bowl-shaped recess in its base ("water absorption recess"), and the heating device is provided for heating the water absorption recess. This provides the advantage that the water can be heated locally and particularly effectively.
[0024] One design is that the evaporation tray has a raised rim extending from one edge of the support rim, and in the area of this upper rim, a circumferential seal is provided to seal the lid. This provides a simple and inexpensive way to achieve the advantage of a steam-tight lid attachment without the need to provide the cooking tray itself with a lid seal.
[0025] One design is that the upper edge of the frame merges into the top of the steam treatment drawer. This advantageously allows for a particularly flat design of the steam treatment drawer.
[0026] In one embodiment, at least one steam outlet opening opens into the steam treatment chamber. This has the advantage that the introduced steam does not create excess pressure in the steam treatment chamber and that the steam does not escape uncontrollably. The steam outlet, which is connected to the environment - possibly via a filter or a water bath - can reduce the excess pressure and allow the excess steam to escape. In a further development, the steam outlet opening is formed in the evaporator tray. The steam outlet opening is advantageously arranged opposite the side wall region having the at least one steam inlet opening and / or arranged above the food tray.
[0027] One embodiment allows one or more food inserts, each having at least one base, to be inserted into the steam cooking drawer. This advantageously enables particularly reliable separation of the food and the condensate flowing back to the bottom of the cooking tray. The food inserts are, in particular, perforated or provided with openings, e.g., holes or slots, to effectively allow steam to reach the food contained therein. In particular, a base of the food insert can also be perforated. Specifically, the food inserts are not intended to conduct steam. The food inserts can be made of plastic, for example. They can be designed, for example, according to the "food supports" described in DE 102021 201 950 A1.
[0028] The object is also achieved by a household cooking appliance comprising at least one drawer housing and a respective steam treatment drawer, as described above, which can be selectively extended and retracted from the associated drawer housing. The household cooking appliance can be designed analogously to the steam treatment drawer, and vice versa, and has the same advantages.
[0029] In a further development, such a household cooking appliance may comprise only the steam treatment drawer. In a further development, such a household cooking appliance may comprise the steam treatment drawer and at least one other cooking appliance, e.g., an oven and / or a microwave. If the other cooking appliance is arranged above the steam treatment drawer, the household cooking appliance may also be referred to as a double-decker or "multi-cavity" appliance.
[0030] The object is further achieved by a method for filling the steam treatment chamber of the steam treatment drawer according to one of the preceding claims with steam, in which water poured into the bottom of the evaporation tray, in particular into its water-receiving recess, is heated by the heating device until evaporation occurs, and the steam thus generated is passed through the intermediate space into the steam treatment chamber. The method can be designed analogously to the steam treatment drawer and / or the household cooking appliance, and vice versa, and has the same advantages.
[0031] The above-described properties, features, and advantages of this invention, as well as the manner in which they are achieved, will become clearer and more readily understood in conjunction with the following schematic description of an embodiment, which is explained in more detail in conjunction with the drawings. Figure 1 shows an oblique view of a steam treatment drawer pulled out of a drawer housing according to a first embodiment without a cooking tray;
[0032] Fig.2 shows in another oblique view the steam treatment drawer pulled out of the drawer housing according to the first embodiment without the cooking tray;
[0033] Fig.3 shows an oblique view of the steam treatment drawer pulled out of the drawer housing with the cooking tray inserted according to the first embodiment;
[0034] Fig.4 shows a sectional oblique view of the extended steam treatment drawer with the inserted cooking tray according to the first embodiment;
[0035] Fig.5 shows an oblique view of a steam treatment drawer pulled out of the drawer housing with a cooking tray inserted according to a second embodiment;
[0036] Fig.6 shows a sectional view in an oblique view of the extended steam treatment drawer with the inserted cooking tray according to the second embodiment; and
[0037] Fig.7 shows a sectional oblique view of the extended steam treatment drawer with inserted cooking tray and cooking inserts according to the first or second embodiment.
[0038] Fig. 1 shows an oblique front view of components of a household cooking appliance 1, namely a steam treatment drawer 3 extending horizontally from a drawer housing 2 without a cooking tray 4 (see Fig. 4 to Fig. 7). For retraction in the y-direction y and extension counter to the y-direction y, the steam treatment drawer 3 is connected to the drawer housing 2 via a pair of telescopic rails 5. Furthermore, the steam treatment drawer 3 can be supplied with electrical energy via the drawer housing 2, e.g., via a power cable (not shown).
[0039] The steam treatment drawer 3 has a first tray ("evaporation tray" 6) that is permanently installed and has an open top. In the center of a closed bottom 7 of the evaporation tray 6, there is a bowl-shaped ("water absorption") recess 8, which is intended to be filled with water W. The recess 8 can be specifically heated by means of a heating device (not shown). For this purpose, electric heaters can be arranged on its underside, for example, or the recess 8 can be inductively heated, etc. By means of the heating device, the water W in the recess 8 can be heated to such an extent that it evaporates.
[0040] At its upper edge, the evaporation tray 6 merges into a laterally extending, flange-like, completely circumferential support edge 9. The support edge 9 is recessed in a section 11 located at a rear region 10r ("rear wall") of the side wall 10. Adjoining an outer edge of the support edge 9 is a circumferentially closed, vertically upright border 12, which at its upper edge merges into a flat upper surface 13 of the steam treatment drawer 3. This can also be expressed as the upper surface 13 of the steam treatment drawer 3 sloping over the support edge 9 as a step into the evaporation tray 6.
[0041] On the top side 13 of the steam treatment drawer 3, adjacent to the frame 12, there is a circumferential seal ("steam seal" 14), onto which a lid 15 can be placed in a steam-tight manner. The lid 15 is a transparent or opaque glass or plastic lid, which is pivotably connected to the top side 13 of the steam treatment drawer 3, for example, via a hinge 16.
[0042] The front side of the steam treatment drawer 3 is formed by a front plate 17 which, when the steam treatment drawer 3 is retracted, can be flush with a front side of the household cooking appliance 1, for example.
[0043] Fig. 2 shows the steam treatment drawer 2 pulled out of the drawer housing 3 without the cooking tray 4, viewed diagonally from the rear. At least one steam outlet opening 18 is also shown, located in a front section of the frame 12 and thus above a front area 10v of the side wall 10.
[0044] Fig. 3 shows, in an oblique view similar to Fig. 1, the steam treatment drawer 3 pulled out from the drawer housing 2 with the food tray 4 now inserted from above into the evaporation tray 6. Fig. 4 shows, as a sectional oblique view, the pulled out steam treatment drawer 3 with the food tray 4 inserted. The food tray 4 has a basic shape similar to the evaporation tray 6, but is smaller in all directions, so that it can be inserted into the evaporator tray 6 at a distance, thus forming a gap 20 between them. The gap 20 can be conceptually divided into two areas, namely a first intermediate area 20a between the bottom 7 of the evaporator tray 6 and a closed bottom 21 of the food tray 4, and a second intermediate area 20b between the side wall 10 of the evaporator tray 6 and a side wall 22 of the food tray 4.The cooking tray 4 has a laterally extending, flange-like, completely circumferential upper support edge 23, with which it rests practically steam-tight on the support edge 9 outside the lowered section 11. The support edge 9 of the evaporator tray 6 is wider than the support edge 23 of the cooking tray 4. The cooking tray 4, together with the attached lid 15 and the border 12, defines a steam treatment chamber 24.
[0045] In order to fill the steam treatment chamber 24 with steam D, the water W located in the recess 8 is evaporated. The steam D thus formed spreads into the intermediate space 20 and heats the food pan 9. Most of the condensate forming in the intermediate space 20 can flow back into the recess 8. However, the majority of the steam D flows from the first intermediate region 20a through the second intermediate region 20b to the lowered section 11. The lowered section 11, together with the narrower attachment edge 23, forms a steam inlet opening 25 leading into the steam treatment chamber 24, through which steam D can escape into the steam treatment chamber 24, as indicated by the dashed arrow. Steam D located in the steam treatment chamber 24 can escape again through the steam outlet opening(s) 18.Any small amounts of steam that may escape between the top edge 23 and the support edge 9 outside the lowered section 11 are harmless.
[0046] Fig. 5 shows, in an oblique view similar to Fig. 3, a steam treatment drawer 26 pulled out from the drawer housing 2 with the food tray 28 inserted from above into its evaporation tray 27. Fig. 6 shows, as a sectional oblique view, the pulled out steam treatment drawer 26 with the food tray 28 inserted. The steam treatment drawer 26 has a basic structure similar to the steam treatment drawer 3, but the support edge 29 of the evaporation tray 27 now has no recessed section, but lies entirely in one plane. Furthermore, the food tray 28 has at least one steam inlet opening 32 on at least one area of its side wall 30 (shown here on the rear area 30r), here in the form of a horizontal row of holes. The at least one steam inlet opening 32 connects the second intermediate area 20b of the intermediate space 20 to the steam treatment chamber 24.The second intermediate area 20b therefore flows into the steam treatment chamber 24.
[0047] Fig. 7 shows a sectional oblique view of the extended steam treatment drawer 3 or 26 with the cooking tray 4 or 28 inserted, as well as a cooking insert 33 inserted into the cooking tray 4 or 28. The cooking insert 33 has a base designed as a perforated plate 34, on which food can be placed outside the steam treatment drawer 3, 26, and the cooking insert 33 can then be inserted into the cooking tray 4, 28 using upright handles 35. This can improve handling of the food. In addition, two opposite edges 36 of the perforated plate 34 are bent downwards, so that the remaining area of the perforated plate 34 is spaced from the base 21 of the cooking tray 4, 28. This provides the advantage that any condensate that may form in the steam treatment chamber 24 and flow to the floor 21 during a steam treatment process does not come into contact with the food being cooked.
[0048] Of course, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment shown.
[0049] In general, "a", "an", etc., can be understood as a singular or a plural, in particular in the sense of "at least one" or "one or more", etc., unless this is explicitly excluded, e.g. by the expression "exactly one", etc.
