Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

[0002] Invention name: Hand-held grinding device.

[0003] The invention relates to construction and finishing works, in particular to tools for rough and final processing of surfaces with dust extraction, and can be used for processing plastered surfaces of building structures.

[0004] The following technical solutions are known from the prior art.

[0005] A hand-held grinding tool comprising a base, a fixed plate-type grinding support with suction holes, a grinding pad, air ducts, and a manipulator (USD802032S, publication date 2017-11-07). The hand-held grinding tool comprises a handle with a holder and a base, on the sole of which a removable abrasive element is fixed, and is made in the form of a solid cast monolithic profile with a fixed removable abrasive element.

[0006] The handle holder is connected to the base by means of a post made concave and located on the longitudinal axis of symmetry of the base along its entire length.

[0007] The tool manufacturing process is simplified while maintaining high operational and mechanical characteristics (patent RU 222320 U1, publication date 12 / 19 / 2023).

[0008] The closest technical solution is a grinding device consisting of a base with a hollow chamber and an opening at the top. A base plate and side air intakes are located at the bottom and sides of the base, communicating with the chamber.

[0009] A pair of spaced hollow brackets extend upward from a rotating element positioned within the upper opening and communicates with the chamber through the rotating element. A T-shaped hollow air connector has a crosspiece positioned between the brackets and communicating with them. A pair of wing nuts at the ends of the base secure a porous sanding mesh wrapped around the bottom of the base.

[0010] A vacuum cleaner can be connected to the air connector to remove grinding dust generated during the grinding process through the grinding screen (patent US5527212 A, publication date 06 / 18 / 1996).

[0011] The disadvantage of this technical solution is the inability to remove the hinged air duct for maintenance and cleaning. This leaves the structure constantly exposed to dust. The location of the common air chamber in

[0012] 1

[0013] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) The cavity of the support pad reduces the air flow velocity. Also, with this cavity design, air intake from the abrasive surface will be uneven, as the main air flow will pass through the central holes, and the suction force in the outer holes will be significantly weaker (air intake intensity will be greatest in the central part and least at the periphery of the plate, since the distance from the periphery to the hinge-air duct will be several times greater than the distance from the center). Additional air intake holes are located at the end of the support plate and are perpendicular to the workpiece. The sandpaper is mechanically attached with screws. There is no protective damping bead around the perimeter of the support plate. During operation, the device may impact perpendicular surfaces and damage already processed surfaces.

[0014] The technical problem solved by the claimed invention is to increase the efficiency of a hand-held grinding device.

[0015] The technical result consists in increasing the speed of removal of ground material, eliminating dust pollution of the surrounding space due to the release of dust and waste particles from the grinding device, increasing the working area due to the use of a telescopic extension, providing the ability to regulate the suction speed of the ground material and eliminating the effect of the device sticking to the surface being treated.

[0016] The said technical result is achieved in a hand-held grinding device comprising a base with a central exhaust opening, a grinding pad, a hinge-air duct consisting of a T-shaped hollow air duct and a hollow air duct mounted thereon, wherein the hinge-air duct is made with the possibility of rotation, additionally comprises a plate-shaped grinding support with suction openings secured to the base, a manipulator made in the form of a telescopic extension containing an adapter sleeve made with the possibility of connecting a vacuum cleaner hose, a valve with an opening for air intake and a rotary valve mounted thereon made with the possibility of changing the suction force of the ground material, wherein the hollow air duct is connected to the manipulator by means of a connecting fastening unit, the plate-shaped grinding support is secured to the base to form an internal cavity, eliminating the ejection of ground material bypassing the central exhaust opening, while radial passage channels are made in the base, communicating with the suction openings and the central exhaust opening,

[0017] 2

[0018] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) An additional feature is that the plate grinding support is made in the form of a support disk.

[0019] An additional feature is that a protective rim is attached to the base around the perimeter using a pressure ring.

[0020] An additional feature is that the hollow duct is Y-shaped.

[0021] An additional feature is that the air duct hinge is designed to rotate at an angle of at least 90° in each direction.

[0022] The claimed invention is explained with the help of graphic materials, where Fig. 1 is a side view of a hand-held grinding device (axes A-B), Fig. 2 is a hand-held grinding device (section A-A), Fig. 3 is a general view of a hand-held grinding device, Fig. 4 is a bottom view, Fig. 5 is the first part of the connecting unit, and Fig. 6 is the second part of the connecting unit.

[0023] The manual grinding device comprises a base 1 with a support pipe 2 and a central hole 3 connected through a hollow hinge-air duct 4 with a manipulator 5, so that the base can rotate relative to the manipulator around the axis "B" and tilt relative to the axis "A" at an angle of at least 90° in each direction.

[0024] A plate-type grinding support 6 with suction holes 7 is fixed to the base 1 from below, to which a grinding pad 9 is fixed via a hook-type fastener 8. In the base 1, radial passage channels 10 are formed, communicating with suction holes 7 and a central exhaust hole 3. A hinge-air duct 4 is installed on the support pipe 2, consisting of a T-shaped hollow air duct 11 and a hollow Y-shaped air duct 12 installed on it, which is connected to the manipulator 5 via a connecting unit 13. The connecting unit consists of two disassemblable parts. The first part (Fig. 5) is fixed to the manipulator and is a hollow cylinder containing an opening in the side surface and two coaxial projections made on the outer side of the side surface of the cylinder. The second part (Fig. 6) is installed on the hollow air duct 11 and is a hollow cylinder, the internal diameter of which is larger than the internal diameter of the first part. The inner surface of the cylinder of the second part contains coaxial recesses corresponding to the projections of the first part of the connecting unit, and the outer side surface contains a hole and a recess. The second part of the connecting unit additionally contains a movable enclosing part (locking element) containing projections.

[0025] 3

[0026] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) the first of which corresponds to the openings of the first and second parts of the connecting element, and the second to the recess on the outer surface of the second part of the connecting element.

[0027] Thus, by aligning the protrusions and recesses of the first and second parts of the connecting unit, we connect the parts and secure them with a locking element, installing its first protrusion into the openings of the first and second parts of the connecting element, ensuring the laminar air flow is maintained. The second protrusion of the locking element is designed to further secure the connecting unit in operation and prevent the parts from separating unintentionally during operation.

[0028] The air duct hinge 4 is attached to the base 2 by means of plates 14 so as to ensure free rotation of the base relative to the manipulator. The manual manipulator 5 is designed as a telescopic extension having a handle 15 made of rubber material at the upper end section and an adapter sleeve 16 for connecting a vacuum cleaner hose 17, a valve with an air intake hole 18, on which a rotary valve 19 is put on. A protective rim 21 is attached to the base 1 along the perimeter by means of a clamping ring 20. Between the perimeter of the plate grinding support 6 and the base 1 there is a cavity 22, which ensures the possibility of air flow. The plate grinding support 6 is designed as a support disk.

[0029] The operation of a hand-held grinding device is explained using a specific example of implementation for grinding a plastered wall.

[0030] Base 1 is pressed against the plastered surface using hand manipulator 5 and after turning on the vacuum cleaner, you can begin sanding the surface being treated.

[0031] In this case, all dust and various particles generated by grinding are carried away by the air flow through the system of suction holes 7 of the plate grinding support 6, the grinding pad 9, the radially located passage channels 10, the cavity 22 of the base 1, the hinge-air duct 4, gets inside the hand manipulator 5 and is then discharged into the hose of the vacuum cleaner (not shown in the drawing). If the effect of sticking of the base 1 to the surface being processed occurs due to an insufficient amount of air entering through the suction holes 7 and the cavity 21, it is necessary to open the air intake valve 19. The design of the device allows for rocking movements for convenient manipulation of the base 1 through the hand manipulator 5. Thus, all the dust from grinding goes away

[0033] SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) into the vacuum cleaner, leaving virtually no traces and without clogging the sanding surface of the base 1.

[0034] The proposed device has a simple, reliable and durable design.

[0035] The proposed device allows working without the use of protective equipment against dust and emitted particles during grinding operations.

[0036] The proposed device has a wide range of applications. It can be used for sanding walls, ceilings, and other building surfaces.
