Embodiment Construction

[0021] Figures 1 to 3 A representative embodiment of an auxiliary device for intraocular injection is shown. The device comprises a skirt 1 adapted to rest on the surface of the eye. The distal part of the skirt 1 may comprise an opening for receiving an eye and the proximal part of the skirt 1 may comprise a cap 2 . The aperture of the skirt 1 may comprise a rim with a circular, oval or elliptical cross-section to make placement on the eye easier. Additionally, the edges may be adapted to abut against opposing eyelids of the eye to hold the eyelids apart when the device is on the eye. Those skilled in the art are aware that the auxiliary device may be fabricated from a translucent or transparent material (which may include magnifying properties) to define the field of view around the injection site.

[0022] In an exemplary embodiment, the device may include or utilize a conjunctival displacement device 3 . The conjunctival displacement device 3 may comprise a first end ...

Abstract

Described is an aid device for an intraocular injection comprising a skirt (1) having an aperture to receive an eye, and a cover (2) coupled to the skirt (1). The cover (2) has one or more guide holes (4) adapted to receive a needle.

Description

Background technique [0001] Intraocular injection devices are useful for administering therapeutic substances to the eye, eg, of a mammal having an ocular disorder or disease. [0002] Many vision-threatening eye disorders or diseases require delivery of agents (drugs, biologics, etc.) and / or implantable devices to the posterior segment of the eye by intraocular delivery (more specifically, intravitreal delivery). One such technique for intraocular injection is achieved by intraocular injection into the vitreous. Conventional devices for intraocular injection may include prefilled syringes of the medicament. [0003] Where a treatment regimen calls for a series of injections, previous injection points may not be counted when administering subsequent injections. That is, injections may be delivered to the same injection site more than once, which can inhibit the healing process. [0004] In addition, intraocular injections must take into account the surrounding ocular struct...
