Abstract

Describes the control over interaction with the application launcher. Interaction with the application or multiple representations of content in the application launcher is controlled by the computing device. The plurality of representations are selectable for navigating to a user interface corresponding to a corresponding application or content. Controlling includes detecting which types of interactions with respect to the application launcher are used by the user. In response to detecting that a gesture-type interaction is used, a management mode is entered that initiates customization or commands of the representation using gestures outside of which the customization or commands cannot be initiated. In response to detecting that a cursor or keyboard type of interaction is used, the customization of the representation or the command is enabled using a cursor control device or keyboard, respectively, without entering the management mode.
