Abstract

A directional positioning system for use in a facility having rooms, corridors, and other areas may include a plurality of portable units carried or worn by a selected user in the facility; a plurality of fixing units installed at each of a plurality of positions within the facility; and a management unit. The at least one portable unit may include at least one button that sends a signal when depressed for an emergency situation. The at least one stationary unit may include a display for indicating a direction of movement during an emergency situation. The management unit may be configured to be monitored by a security person and may be configured to receive any signal transmitted from any one of the plurality of portable units or any one of the plurality of fixed units. The plurality of portable units, the plurality of fixed units, and the management unit may form a mesh network.
