Description

Technical Field

[0001] This invention relates to cosmetic compositions. Background Technology

[0002] As cosmetics containing pigment particles, they are known to include color cosmetics such as primers, foundations, powders, blushes, eyeshadows, lipsticks, eyeliners, or eyebrow pencils, as well as skin-protecting cosmetics such as whitening cosmetics or UV-protective cosmetics.

[0003] Such cosmetics often contain a mixture of pigment particles and oils. However, untreated pigment particles, especially those containing metallic elements, can sometimes degrade other components of the cosmetic. Therefore, surface-treated pigment particles are often used.

[0004] For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a cosmetic powder material comprising a cosmetic powder surface-treated with an ester compound of fatty acids having 8 to 20 carbon atoms and glycerol.

[0005] Furthermore, Patent Document 2 discloses a cosmetic powder that has been surface-treated with an ester compound of isostearic acid and diglycerides.

[0010] The problem that the invention aims to solve

[0011] When surface-treated pigment particles are dispersed in oils, such as when blended into cosmetics like foundation, poor dispersibility can easily lead to uneven color due to the surface-treated pigment particles. Therefore, excellent dispersibility of surface-treated pigment particles in oils is required.

[0012] On the other hand, we should also consider the problem of pigment particles in foundations and other cosmetics being re-adhered from the skin to masks, clothing, etc. (the so-called "secondary adhesion problem") when they are applied to the skin.

[0013] Therefore, it is necessary to have both the ability to disperse surface-treated pigment particles in oil and the ability to prevent secondary adhesion.

[0014] The present invention aims to improve the above situation and its object is to provide a cosmetic composition that is a cosmetic composition in which pigment particles are mixed in an oil, which improves both the dispersibility of the pigment particles and the effect of no secondary adhesion.

[0041] The effects of the invention

[0042] According to the present invention, a cosmetic composition is provided which is a cosmetic composition in which pigment particles are mixed in an oil, thereby improving the dispersibility of the pigment particles and improving the effect of no secondary adhesion. Detailed Implementation

[0043] The embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments, and various modifications can be made within the scope of the original intent of the invention.

[0044] Cosmetic Compositions

[0045] The cosmetic composition of the present invention (hereinafter also referred to as "the composition of the present invention") is a cosmetic composition comprising the following components: (A) Pigment particles that have been surface-treated with an ester compound of fatty acids with 8 to 20 carbon atoms and glycerol (hereinafter referred to as "the ester compound of the present invention"); (B) An oil fraction containing at least one of hydrocarbon oils and polar oils; and (C) At least one of the following: a dispersant with an HLB value of 4.5 or less and an ammonia-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersant.

[0046] The composition of the present invention can have both the effect of dispersing pigment particles in oil and preventing secondary adhesion.

[0047] It should be noted that, in this invention, the term "no secondary adhesion effect" refers to the opposite of the aforementioned "secondary adhesion problem," meaning that even when skin using cosmetics containing pigment particles comes into contact with masks or clothing, the pigment particles are unlikely to adhere to the masks or clothing, or preferably, they do not adhere at all. Furthermore, the effect of no secondary adhesion can be evaluated, for example, by the method shown in the embodiments described later.

[0048] The inventors have discovered that, in cosmetic compositions containing surface-treated pigment particles, when adjusting the composition to improve the effect of preventing secondary adhesion, there is a tendency for the dispersibility of the surface-treated pigment particles in the oil to become relatively poor. In other words, it is not easy to achieve both good dispersibility of the pigment particles in the oil and the effect of preventing secondary adhesion in a cosmetic composition containing pigment particles.

[0049] Therefore, through further in-depth research by the inventors, it has been found that rather than unreasonably increasing the dispersibility of pigment particles in the oil, a sufficiently good dispersibility can ensure the effect of no secondary adhesion. More specifically, in the composition of the present invention, by mixing a specific dispersant with pigment particles that have been surface-treated with the ester compound involved in the present invention in a specific oil, it is possible to achieve both the effect of dispersibility in the oil and the effect of no secondary adhesion of the pigment particles.

[0050] Here, "quite good dispersibility" refers to the degree to which uneven color distribution does not occur when a composition containing pigment particles surface-treated with the ester compound involved in this invention is blended into a cosmetic such as a foundation. Furthermore, "quite good dispersibility" can be judged comprehensively by considering both the dispersibility immediately after preparation and the dispersibility over time. More specifically, in evaluating dispersibility, if the dispersibility is good both immediately after preparation and over time, it can be judged as "quite good dispersibility." Conversely, if, for example, the dispersibility is good immediately after preparation but poor over time, it is not evaluated as "quite good dispersibility."

[0051] However, through in-depth research by the inventors, it has been found that while the correspondence between such "fairly good dispersibility" and the effect of no secondary adhesion can be applied to pigment particles that have been surface-treated with the ester compound involved in this invention, it cannot be applied to pigment particles that have been surface-treated with other surface-treatment agents (e.g., Comparative Examples 4 to 6).

[0052] It should be noted that in Patent Documents 1 and 2, it was found that surface-treated pigment particles are surface-treated with the ester compound involved in this invention to improve the dispersibility of the surface-treated pigment particles in oil. However, there was no intention to improve the effect of preventing secondary adhesion in cosmetic compositions such as foundation containing pigment particles. Of course, Patent Documents 1 and 2 did not aim to achieve both the dispersibility of pigment particles in oil and the effect of preventing secondary adhesion.

[0053] <Constituents>

[0054] [Ingredients (A)]

[0055] The composition of the present invention comprises pigment particles surface-treated with the ester compound involved in the present invention (component (A)), an oil component comprising at least one of hydrocarbon oil and polar oil (component (B)), and at least one of a dispersant having an HLB value of 4.5 or less and an amino-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersant (component (C)). [0075] Furthermore, from the viewpoint of dispersing pigment particles that have been surface-treated by the ester compound involved in this invention in an oil fraction, the oil fraction can be, for example, 150 parts by mass or more, 200 parts by mass or more, 250 parts by mass or more, 300 parts by mass or more, 350 parts by mass or more, 400 parts by mass or more, 450 parts by mass or more, 500 parts by mass or more, 550 parts by mass or more, 600 parts by mass or more, 650 parts by mass or more, 700 parts by mass or more, 750 parts by mass or more, 800 parts by mass or more, 850 parts by mass or more, 900 parts by mass or more, 950 parts by mass or more, or 1000 parts by mass or more. Alternatively, it can be 2000 parts by mass or less, 1800 parts by mass or less, 1500 parts by mass or less, 1200 parts by mass or less, 1000 parts by mass or less, 800 parts by mass or less, or 500 parts by mass or less.

[0076] In this invention, the hydrocarbon oil is not particularly limited; volatile hydrocarbon oils, non-volatile hydrocarbon oils, or mixtures thereof can be used. From the viewpoint of further improving the dispersibility of the surface-treated pigment particles, the hydrocarbon oil is preferably a volatile hydrocarbon oil. That is, the oil component preferably comprises a volatile hydrocarbon oil.

[0077] It should be noted that, in this invention, the term "volatility" of oil refers to oil with a boiling point below 260°C at atmospheric pressure (1 atmosphere). Conversely, in this invention, the term "non-volatility" of oil refers to oil with a boiling point above 260°C at atmospheric pressure (1 atmosphere).

[0078] In this invention, examples of volatile hydrocarbon oils include, but are not limited to, decane, dodecane, isododecane, isohexadecane, undecane, tridecane, alkanes with 9 to 12 carbon atoms, and mixtures of two or more thereof.

[0080] In the composition of the present invention, when the oil component includes hydrocarbon oil, the content of hydrocarbon oil is not particularly limited. For example, relative to the total oil component, it can be more than 0% by mass, more than 5.0% by mass, more than 10% by mass, more than 20% by mass, more than 30% by mass, more than 40% by mass, more than 50% by mass, or more than 55% by mass. [0081] In this invention, "polar oil" refers to a highly polar oil, excluding silicone oil, that can be used in cosmetics. For example, it refers to a substance with an IOB value of 0.10 or higher, 0.11 or higher, 0.12 or higher, or 0.13 or higher. Furthermore, the polar oil involved in this invention may have an IOB value of 0.50 or lower, 0.45 or lower, or 0.40 or lower. It should be noted that the IOB value is an abbreviation for Inorganic / Organic Balance, a value representing the ratio of inorganic to organic content, and serves as an indicator of the degree of polarity of an organic compound. Specifically, the IOB value is expressed as IOB value = inorganic value / organic value. Regarding the "inorganic value" and "organic value" respectively, for example, by setting the "inorganic value" and "organic value" corresponding to various atoms or functional groups in a way that sets the "organic value" of 20 for one carbon atom in the molecule and the "inorganic value" of 100 for one hydroxyl group, the "inorganic value" and "organic value" of all atoms and functional groups in the organic compound are accumulated, and the IOB value of the organic compound can be calculated (see, for example, Yoshio Koda, "Organic Concept Map - Basics and Applications -", pp. 11-17, Sankyo Publishing, 1984).

[0082] In the compositions of the present invention, volatile polar oils, non-volatile polar oils, or mixtures thereof can be used as polar oils.

[0083] In this invention, the polar oil may contain, for example, ester oil, ultraviolet absorber, or mixtures thereof, but from the viewpoint of obtaining a non-sticky feel, the polar oil preferably does not contain ultraviolet absorber.

[0088] [Component C]

[0089] (Dispersant)

[0090] In the compositions of the present invention, the dispersant is at least one of a dispersant with an HLB value of 4.5 or less and an amino-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersant (hereinafter also simply referred to as "the dispersant of the present invention"). That is, the dispersant of the present invention can be a dispersant with an HLB value of 4.5 or less, or an amino-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersant. By using the dispersant of the present invention, pigment particles that have been surface-treated with the ester compound of the present invention can be dispersed in the oil containing at least one of hydrocarbon oil and polar oil, thereby further imparting considerably good dispersibility.

[0091] Here, the so-called "HLB (Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance) value" generally represents the affinity of a surfactant for water and oil, and is a parameter known as the hydrophilic-lipophilic balance, for example, it can be defined by the Griffith method. However, in the case of surfactants with an oxypropylene structure (including dispersants), it can be defined by the Kawakami method.

[0092] More specifically, the HLB value of the dispersant involved in this invention can be, for example, 4.5 or less, 4.4 or less, 4.3 or less, 4.2 or less, 4.1 or less, 4.0 or less, 3.9 or less, 3.8 or less, 3.7 or less, 3.6 or less, 3.5 or less, 3.4 or less, 3.3 or less, 3.2 or less, 3.1 or less, 3.0 or less, 2.9 or less, 2.8 or less, 2.7 or less, 2.6 or less, 2.5 or less, 2.4 or less, 2.3 or less, 2.2 or less, 2.1 or less, 2.0 or less, 1.9 or less, 1.5 or less, or 1.0 or less. Alternatively, it can be 0.3 or more, 0.4 or more, 0.5 or more, 0.6 or more, 0.7 or more, 0.8 or more, 0.9 or more, 1.0 or more, 1.5 or more, 1.8 or more, 2.0 or more, 2.3 or more, 2.5 or more, 2.8 or more, or 3.0 or more.

[0093] Furthermore, amino-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersants are also called aminoethylaminopropylmethylsiloxane / dimethylsiloxane copolymer dispersants, and preferably use, for example, compounds represented by the following formula (1):

[0094] Here, the functional group equivalent of the compound of formula (1) can be 1000 or more, 1500 or more, or 2000 or more. In addition, it can be 3000 or less, 2500 or less, 2000 or less, or 1800 or less. It should be noted that the so-called "functional group equivalent" refers to the value of dividing the molecular weight of the compound of formula (1) by the number of amino groups contained in the molecule.

[0095] Furthermore, in formula (1), X is an alkyl group with 1 to 18 carbon atoms, R and R' are alkyl groups with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, m is 20 to 2000, and n is 1 to 100.

[0096] It should be noted that, in this invention, the HLB value of the ammonia-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersant is not particularly limited. For example, it can be the same as the range of HLB values (below 4.5) of the dispersant mentioned above, or it can be an HLB value outside of that range.

[0097] In the compositions of this invention, the content of the dispersant involved in this invention is not particularly limited. For example, relative to the total of 100 parts by weight of the surface-treated pigment particles (component (A)), the oil comprising at least one of hydrocarbon oil and polar oil (component (B)), and the dispersant (component (C)) of the present invention, the amount can be 0.5 parts by weight or more, 1.0 parts by weight or more, 1.5 parts by weight or more, 2.0 parts by weight or more, 2.5 parts by weight or more, 3.0 parts by weight or more, 3.5 parts by weight or more, 4.0 parts by weight or more, 4.5 parts by weight or more, 5.0 parts by weight or more, 5.5 parts by weight or more, 6.0 parts by weight or more, 6.5 parts by weight or more, 7.0 parts by weight or more, 7.5 parts by weight or more, 8.0 parts by weight or more, 8.5 parts by weight or more, 9.0 parts by weight or more, 9.5 parts by weight or more, 10 parts by weight or more, or 11 parts by weight or more. Alternatively, the amount can be 30 parts by weight or less, 25 parts by weight or less, 20 parts by weight or less, 15 parts by weight or less, or 12 parts by weight or less.

[0098] Furthermore, in the composition of the present invention, relative to 100 parts by mass of pigment particles that have been surface-treated with the ester compound of the present invention, the dispersant of the present invention may, for example, be 5.0 parts by mass or more, 8.0 parts by mass or more, 10 parts by mass or more, 11 parts by mass or more, 12 parts by mass or more, 13 parts by mass or more, 14 parts by mass or more, 15 parts by mass or more, 16 parts by mass or more, 17 parts by mass or more, 18 parts by mass or more, 19 parts by mass or more, 20 parts by mass or more, 25 parts by mass or more, 30 parts by mass or more, or 35 parts by mass or more. Alternatively, it may be 50 parts by mass or less, 45 parts by mass or less, 40 parts by mass or less, 35 parts by mass or less, 30 parts by mass or less, 25 parts by mass or less, or 20 parts by mass or less.

[0099] As a specific example of the dispersant involved in this invention, there is no particular limitation as long as it is a dispersant with an HLB value of 4.5 or less or an amino-terminated polydimethylsiloxane dispersant. More specifically, the dispersant with an HLB value of 4.5 or less involved in this invention may include, for example, at least one selected from isostearic acid (HLB value: 4.3), polyhydroxystearic acid (HLB value: 4.0), polyricinoleic acid polyglycerol-6 (HLB value: 3.3), bis-butyl polydimethylsiloxane polyglycerol-3 (HLB value: 0.48), PEG-10 polydimethylsiloxane (HLB value: 2.0), and cetyl PEG / PPG-10 / 1 polydimethylsiloxane (HLB value: 3.5). It should be noted that when using two or more dispersants as the dispersant involved in this invention, it is preferable that the HLB value of each dispersant is 4.5 or less.

[0131] Example

[0132] The following examples illustrate the invention in further detail, but the invention is not limited to these examples. It should be noted that, unless otherwise specified, the content is expressed as a percentage by mass (%).

[0133] Examples and Comparative Examples

[0134] The oil-in-water emulsion cosmetics prepared according to the formulation examples and comparative examples shown in Table 1 below were evaluated for their dispersibility immediately after preparation, dispersibility over time, and the effect of no secondary adhesion according to the following criteria. The results are shown in Table 1.

[0135] Dispersion after initial modulation

[0136] The dispersion of each freshly prepared cosmetic material obtained in the Examples and Comparative Examples was evaluated by visual inspection. It should be noted that the evaluation criteria are as follows: “A”: No color unevenness is visible on the liquid surface; “B”: Color unevenness is almost invisible on the liquid surface; "C": Uneven color was observed at approximately half of the liquid surface; “D”: Uneven color was observed on more than half of the liquid surface.

[0137] It should be noted that the less or no "color unevenness" on the liquid surface, the better the dispersibility. The same applies to the following "dispersibility over time".

[0138] Dispersion over time

[0139] Rolling tests were conducted on each cosmetic material obtained in the Examples and Comparative Examples to evaluate its dispersibility over time.

[0140] More specifically, for the rolling test, the prepared cosmetic materials were filled into a cylindrical container and rotated in a rolling tester at 45 rpm for 4 hours at room temperature. Changes in the state of the cosmetic materials were observed. The evaluation criteria are as follows: "A": No change is visible in the appearance of the cosmetic; "B": Although a slight color change was observed in the cosmetic, there were no obstacles to its use; "C": The degree to which the color change observed in the cosmetic indicates an obstacle to its use; “D”: Significant color change / agglomeration is observed in the cosmetic, indicating a level of difficulty in application.

[0141] The effect of no secondary adhesion

[0142] Each cosmetic material obtained in the examples and comparative examples was applied to artificial leather at a dose of 5 mg and left to stand at 37°C for 5 minutes. Next, the coated area was tapped twice using a tapping tester to transfer the material to filter paper. The amount of material transferred to the filter paper was visually evaluated according to the following criteria.

[0143] “A”: No transfer to the filter paper is visible at all; “B”: Almost no transfer to the filter paper is visible; “C”: A slight transfer to the filter paper was observed; “D”: A significant amount of transfer to the filter paper was observed.

[0144] [Table 1]

[0145] [Table 2]

[0146] As clearly shown in Table 1, the cosmetics of Examples 1-6 exhibit good dispersibility (both immediately after preparation and after time) and a high degree of non-re-adhesion. This indicates that the cosmetics of Examples 1-5 can achieve both the dispersibility of surface-treated pigment particles in oil and the effect of non-re-adhesion.

[0147] In contrast, although the cosmetics in Comparative Examples 1 to 3 used a substance that had been surface-treated with tetraisostearate polyglycerol-2 ester (an ester compound of fatty acids with 8 to 20 carbon atoms and glycerol) as pigment particles in the same manner as in Examples 1 to 5, they could not simultaneously achieve the dispersibility of surface-treated pigment particles in oil and the effect of no secondary adhesion.

[0148] More specifically, it can be seen that although the cosmetic material of Comparative Example 1 exhibited good dispersibility immediately after preparation, its dispersibility deteriorated over time, and its ability to prevent secondary adhesion was also poor. This result is presumably because the cosmetic material of Comparative Example 1 used a dispersant with an HLB value of 4.8.

[0149] Furthermore, Comparative Example 2 exhibited the same tendency as Comparative Example 1. It can be seen that while the cosmetic material of Comparative Example 2 showed good dispersibility immediately after preparation, its dispersibility deteriorated over time, and its ability to prevent secondary adhesion was also poor. This result is presumably because the cosmetic material of Comparative Example 2 used a dispersant with an HLB value of 5.0.

[0150] On the other hand, it can be seen that the cosmetic material in Comparative Example 3, without the use of a dispersant, resulted in a high degree of non-secondary adhesion, but poor dispersibility both immediately after preparation and over time.

[0151] Furthermore, it can be seen that the cosmetics in Comparative Examples 4 and 5, although mixed with the same oil and the same dispersant as in Example 1, were mixed with pigment particles that had been surface-treated with a different surface treatment agent than in Example 1. As a result, although the dispersibility immediately after preparation and the dispersibility over time were good, the effect of no secondary adhesion was poor.

[0152] Furthermore, it can be seen that the cosmetic material of Comparative Example 6, although it was mixed with the same oil and the same dispersant as in Example 1, was mixed with pigment particles that had been surface-treated with a different surface treatment agent than in Example 1. As a result, although the dispersibility immediately after preparation and the dispersibility over time were poor, the effect of no secondary adhesion was slightly better.

[0153] Furthermore, the cosmetic material of Comparative Example 7, although it was mixed with the same oil as in Example 1, was mixed with pigment particles that had been surface-treated with a surface treatment agent and different dispersants than in Example 1. As a result, the dispersibility after preparation and the dispersibility after time were poor, and the effect of no secondary adhesion could not be evaluated.
