Description

Rubber filler, rubber composite material containing same, and preparation method and application thereof

[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

[0002] This application claims the benefit of Chinese patent application No. 202310700409.3 filed on June 13, 2023, the contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. Technical Field

[0003] The present invention relates to the technical field of rubber materials, and in particular to a rubber filler, a rubber composite material containing the same, and a preparation method and application thereof. Background Art

[0004] Green tires (or fuel-efficient tires) are designed to save fuel and reduce exhaust emissions. Compared to conventional radial tires, green tires significantly reduce energy consumption. Solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) is more environmentally friendly than general-purpose emulsion-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (ESBR). Furthermore, the micromolecular structure can be controlled and adjusted as needed during the synthesis process, improving both the tire's rolling resistance coefficient and wet grip index. The application of SBR in the tire industry is expected to make rapid progress in the coming years. Butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber, and butyl rubber are also produced using the solution polymerization process and are all used in the tire industry.

[0005] Currently, carbon black is the most widely used filler, but as environmental protection requirements increase, silica will gradually replace carbon black as the most widely used filler. A silica / solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (SPBR) system is a common formulation for high-performance, green tire treads. However, silica's small particle size and high surface polarity result in poor compatibility with rubber, making it prone to agglomeration and difficult to disperse. Therefore, silica requires surface modification. Common filler surface modifiers used in the prior art include titanate coupling agents and silane coupling agents.

[0006] CN101798473A discloses the use of a polysulfide silane coupling agent to modify silica and then prepare a silica / carbon black composite filler. However, increasing the amount of the silane coupling agent will cause a decrease in the vulcanization kinetics, requiring the addition of a vulcanizing agent and a vulcanization accelerator.

[0007] CN101220177A discloses a method for preparing a silica / solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber nanocomposite material by modifying silica with an amino-based silane coupling agent. Nano-silica and a silane coupling agent are dispersed in ethanol, subjected to a condensation reaction at high temperature, and the modified nano-silica powder is then added to a solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber solution. After stirring and dispersion, the solvent is removed and dried to obtain a silica / solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber nanocomposite material prepared by a co-coagulation method. However, small-molecule surface modifiers have drawbacks such as poor processing performance, the generation of small molecules during the modification process, poor storage stability, and a reduced tire lifespan. Furthermore, they fail to address the problem of poor silica-rubber bonding.

[0008] Summary of the Invention

[0009] The present invention aims to overcome the problems of prior art, such as the tendency of silica to agglomerate and poor silica-rubber bonding, by providing a rubber composite material, its preparation method, and its application. The rubber composite material of the present invention uses polydivinylbenzene microspheres loaded with dopamine-modified silica as a filler. The polydivinylbenzene microspheres serve as a carrier, effectively improving the dispersibility of silica. The polydivinylbenzene microspheres also act as physical entanglement crosslinking points, enhancing the physical and mechanical properties of the material through vulcanization crosslinking with the blended rubber. The rubber composite material can be used to manufacture green tires.

[0010] In order to achieve the above-mentioned object, the first aspect of the present invention provides a rubber filler, which comprises: polydivinylbenzene microspheres and polydopamine-modified silica attached to the polydivinylbenzene microspheres; wherein the mass ratio of the polydivinylbenzene microspheres to the polydopamine-modified silica is 1:0.5-20.

[0011] A second aspect of the present invention provides a method for preparing a rubber filler, the method comprising:

[0012] (1) in a first buffer solution, reacting silica with dopamine to obtain polydopamine-modified silica;

[0013] (2) in a second buffer solution, subjecting the polydivinylbenzene microspheres to a second reaction with the polydopamine-modified silica obtained in step (1) to obtain polydivinylbenzene microspheres loaded with polydopamine-modified silica; wherein the mass ratio of the polydivinylbenzene microspheres to the polydopamine-modified silica is 1:0.5-20.

[0014] A third aspect of the present invention provides a rubber composite material, comprising: a solution-polymerized raw rubber, a first filler, and a second filler, wherein the first filler is the rubber filler of the first aspect and the rubber filler prepared by the preparation method of the second aspect, and the second filler is polydopamine-modified silica; wherein the total addition amount of the first rubber filler and the second rubber filler is 10-60wt% of the dry basis mass of the solution-polymerized raw rubber.

[0015] A fourth aspect of the present invention provides a method for preparing a rubber composite material, the preparation method comprising: mixing a solution-polymerized rubber raw rubber with a first filler and a second filler, and then vulcanizing the mixture to obtain a rubber composite material; wherein the first filler is the rubber filler of the first aspect and the rubber filler obtained by the preparation method of the second aspect, and the second filler is polydopamine-modified silica; and the total amount of the first rubber filler and the second rubber filler added is 10-60 wt% of the dry basis mass of the solution-polymerized rubber raw rubber.

[0016] A fifth aspect of the present invention provides use of the aforementioned rubber composite material or the rubber composite material prepared by the aforementioned preparation method in a tire.

[0017] Through the above technical solution, the beneficial technical effects achieved by the present invention are as follows:

[0018] (1) The rubber filler of the present invention is polydivinylbenzene microspheres loaded with polydopamine-modified silica. The use of polydopamine to modify silica can prevent silica from agglomerating itself and improve the dispersibility of silica. At the same time, using polydivinylbenzene microspheres as a carrier can more effectively improve the dispersibility of silica.

[0019] (2) The rubber filler of the present invention can be used to prepare a rubber composite material. The polydivinylbenzene microspheres can also serve as physical entanglement crosslinking points. When a vulcanizing agent is added for vulcanization, the microsphere filler and the blended rubber can effectively enhance the physical and mechanical properties of the material through vulcanization crosslinking. At the same time, the catecholamine structure in the polydopamine has a high affinity and can be tightly bonded to the rubber, thereby improving the mechanical strength of the silica / rubber. The rubber composite material obtained by the present invention is suitable for manufacturing green tires.

[0020] (3) The preparation method of the present invention has few steps and is simple to operate, which solves the problem that white carbon black is easy to agglomerate and has poor bonding strength between white carbon black and rubber. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[0152] The results in Table 7 show that the examples have significantly better results than the comparative examples. The present invention uses polydivinylbenzene microspheres loaded with polydopamine-modified silica as a filler to replace a portion of the polydopamine-modified silica. The use of the polydivinylbenzene microspheres as a carrier reduces agglomeration of the modified silica, improves the dispersion of the modified silica, and more effectively enhances the dispersibility and stability of the silica. Furthermore, the modified polydivinylbenzene microspheres also serve as entanglement crosslinking points. Due to the polar functional groups on their surfaces, they can generate interaction forces with silica. Furthermore, the modified polydivinylbenzene microspheres enhance the physical and mechanical properties of the material through vulcanization crosslinking.

Within the technical concept of the present invention, various simple variations of the technical solution of the present invention may be made, including combining the various technical features in any other appropriate manner. These simple variations and combinations should also be regarded as disclosed in the present invention and fall within the scope of protection of the present invention.
