Abstract
Description
[0001] This application is a divisional application of an invention application with an application date of July 6, 2017, application number 201780042080.9 (international application number PCT / EP2017 / 066886), and invention name “Lubricant composition for gas engines”. [Technical field]
[0002] The present invention relates to the field of lubricants for gas engines, preferably stationary gas engines. The invention more particularly relates to the use of a lubricant composition comprising at least one mineral base oil and at least one ester selected from polyol esters for lubricating a gas engine, preferably a stationary gas engine.
[0003] The invention also relates to a method of lubricating a gas engine, preferably a stationary gas engine. [Background technology]
[0004] Lubricants developed for gas engines, preferably stationary gas engines, have been known for many years. The first lubricants dedicated to such applications contain base oils of group I according to the API classification. These lubricants provide very good results at high temperatures, in particular they do not form any or only very little precipitates, but have limited resistance to oxidation, in particular to nitridation. Nitriding is oxidation by contact with nitrogen oxides (NOx).
[0005] Lubricants then contain API Group II base oils to improve the oxidation resistance. However, and especially in the case of very high power gas engines, the use of these lubricants can lead to the formation of high temperature deposits (or varnish). The same is true for lubricants based on Group III and Group IV base oils according to the API classification.
[0006] There is therefore a need for lubricant compositions for gas engines, preferably stationary gas engines, which have good detergency and thus form no or only little deposits, especially at high temperatures, while exhibiting satisfactory or even improved resistance to oxidation, especially nitridation.
[0007] It has now been found that the combination of at least one mineral base oil and at least one ester selected from polyol esters makes it possible to provide a lubricant composition specifically for lubricating gas engines, preferably stationary gas engines, providing antioxidant properties, in particular satisfactory or improved anti-nitridation properties, especially causing little or no deposits, especially at high temperatures.
[0008] The present invention thus provides a lubricant composition making it possible to solve all or part of the problems of lubricant compositions intended for lubricating gas engines, preferably stationary gas engines. [Summary of the invention]
