AI Technical Summary
Traditional double glazing systems have a visible sash frame on both sides, which is unsightly and requires complex bonding techniques for concealment, necessitating certified workshops.
A housing is integrated between the glazing panels to receive the frame, allowing it to be concealed, and a frame assembly is secured using elastic materials and pressure screws, eliminating the need for complex bonding and certified installations.
The solution effectively hides the frame on one or both sides, enhances security, and simplifies installation without requiring certified bonding, while maintaining structural integrity and weatherproofing.
Description
Field of invention
[0001] The invention belongs to the field of glazing, in particular that of double glazing. Prior art
[0002] Double glazing consists of two translucent panels that are substantially parallel to each other and fixed to each other at a distance from each other by a spacer. Double glazing is designed to be held in place by a window frame. The panels can be made of different materials, such as glass, synthetic glass, smooth or frosted, transparent or semi-transparent, or even opaque.
[0003] Traditionally, the sash frame is a joinery assembly in which the double glazing is recessed. One disadvantage of this recessed installation is that the sash frame is visible on both sides of the double glazing.
[0004] To hide the opening frame on one side of the glazing, we know the technique of bonded exterior glazing or VEC. The glazing is bonded against a suitable frame. The bonding operations must be carried out with the greatest care and can only be carried out by a workshop holding a certificate of conformity issued by a certified organization.
[0005] The invention proposes a new type of glazing, which when placed in an opening, makes it possible to hide the opening frame on one side or possibly on both sides, as well as possibly the opening joinery.
[0006] Another aim of the invention is to produce an opening with a frame concealed on at least one side and which is less restrictive in terms of security and / or safety regulations.
[0007] EP0745750A1 discloses a glazed opening comprising a frame and glazing. Statement of the invention
[0008] At least one of the aforementioned aims is achieved with a glazed opening according to claim 1.
[0009] The housing has the function of mechanically holding the frame around the glazing, and / or the function of concealing the frame.
[0010] Advantageously, the housing can be arranged to receive the frame between said two panels.
[0011] In one embodiment, the housing exists all around the glazing spacer.
[0012] In another embodiment, the housing exists only on a portion of the perimeter of the spacer. Preferably, this portion is chosen to be sufficient to mechanically hold the frame around the glazing. For example, the housing may exist along two opposite sides of the glazing. Where the housing does not exist, only one of the two panels may be projecting, or neither panel is projecting.
[0013] Synthetic glass can typically be made of solid polycarbonate or polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
[0014] In one embodiment, both panels are made of synthetic glass.
[0015] In another embodiment, one of the two panels is made of synthetic glass and the other of the two panels is made of another material, preferably another synthetic glass or glass or aluminum.
[0016] Preferably, the spacer is made of aluminum or a warm edge spacer. A warm edge spacer is referred to as a "warm edge" in the literature. It is also referred to as an insulating spacer.
[0017] Preferably, all or part of the perimeter of an outer face of the spacer is coated with an elastic material. Alternatively, or in combination, all or part of the perimeter of an outer face of the spacer may be coated with adhesive, for example double-sided adhesive.
[0018] According to one embodiment, one of the panels may overhang more than the other along at least one edge of the glazing.
[0019] Preferably, the opening further comprises means for guiding the locking blocks relative to the woodwork in a direction parallel to the axis of the screw.
[0020] According to a particularity, the joinery is leaned against the exterior panel of the opening and surrounds the interior panel of the opening. Description of the figures
[0021] Other features and advantages of the invention will appear on reading the detailed description of implementations and embodiments which are in no way limiting, with regard to the appended figures in which: there FIGURE 1 is a partial sectional view of a glazing according to a first embodiment not forming part of the invention, in the region of an edge; FIGURE 2 is a partial sectional view of a glazing according to a second embodiment not forming part of the invention, in the region of an edge; FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of a tilting glazing according to the second embodiment not forming part of the invention; FIGURE 4 is a partial sectional view of a first embodiment of an opening not forming part of the invention, in the region of an edge of the opening; FIGURE 5illustrates in side view an opening oscillating around a horizontal axis, with different overhangs for the two panels; the FIGURE 6 is a partial sectional view of a second embodiment of an opening according to the invention, in the region of a lower edge; FIGURE 7 is a partial exploded perspective view of the second embodiment. Description of the invention
[0022] These embodiments being in no way limiting, it will be possible in particular to produce variants of the invention comprising only a selection of characteristics described below, as described or generalized, isolated from the other characteristics described, if this selection of characteristics is sufficient to confer a technical advantage or to differentiate the invention compared to the state of the art.
[0023] There FIGURE 1illustrates a glazing 100 according to a first embodiment not forming part of the invention. The glazing 100 comprises two panels 200 and 300 of solid polycarbonate, substantially parallel to each other, fixed to each other, at a distance from each other, by a peripheral spacer 400, comprising warm edge type glazing interlayers. The fixing of the two panels 200 and 300 to the spacer 400 is typically carried out by gluing, for example by means of double-sided tape.
[0024] There FIGURE 2 illustrates a glazing 1 according to a second embodiment not forming part of the invention. The glazing 1 comprises two panels 2 and 3 of solid polycarbonate, substantially parallel to each other, fixed to each other, at a distance from each other, by a peripheral spacer 4, comprising glazing interlayers of the warm edge type. The fixing of the two panels 2 and 3 to the spacer 4 is typically carried out by gluing.
[0025] The two panels 2 and 3 extend beyond the spacer 4 over at least part of the periphery of the glazing, defining between them, around the spacer 4, a housing 5 arranged to receive an opening frame 8 between the two panels 2 and 3, so that each lateral face of the frame 8 is at least largely covered by a respective one of the panels 2 and 3.
[0026] The outer face of the spacer 4 is coated with an elastic material 41.
[0027] THE FIGURES 3 and 4 illustrate a glazed opening 6 according to a first embodiment not forming part of the invention.
[0028] The glazed opening 6 comprises a frame 8 arranged to be inserted into the housing 5 between the two panels 2 and 3 of the glazing 1.
[0029] The frame 8 is inserted all around the spacer 4 of the glazing 1.
[0030] The frame 8 is made up of sections of profile 7 assembled at the corners by screws 71 ( FIGURE 3 ).
[0031] The profile 7 defines longitudinal conduits 12, and / or longitudinal channels 13 arranged to receive the screws 71. By providing conduits or channels 12, 13 spaced differently from the median plane 97 of the profile 7, it is possible to place crossed screws 71 at the corners without them interfering with each other.
[0032] The profile 7 comprises a recess 9 adapted to receive a bar 91, in a retracted position relative to a plane 92 of the edge of the opening 6. The bar 91 is typically part of a mount 17 making it possible to connect the opening 6 in an articulated manner to a frame. The mount 17 comprises, in addition to the pivoting bar 91, a frame bar 94 and an articulation 96 between the bars 91 and 94.
[0033] The profile 7 is preferably metallic, even more preferably made of aluminum alloy.
[0034] The profile 7 comprises an internal cavity 15 provided in particular for the installation of expandable threaded inserts 16 of known type making it possible to secure an external element to the profile 7.
[0035] In the example shown, the bar 91 is fixed to the frame 8 using screws 93 screwed into the inserts 16.
[0036] The frame 8 is formed in situ on the glazing 1, by inserting the profile sections 7 into the housing 5 between the panels 2 and 3, then assembling the profile sections 7 together at the corners of the glazing 1, where the sections are cut at a 45° bevel or straight cut.
[0037] The profile sections 7 of the frame 8 are sized so as to compress an elastic material 20 interposed between the frame 8 and the spacer 4.
[0038] The profile 7 has on its face facing the spacer 4, projections 19 intended to constitute pressure points on the elastic material 20. In this way, it is always possible to perfectly assemble the frame 8 and the elastic material 20 takes up the play between the frame 8 and the glazing 1, so that even with less demanding tolerances the frame 8 and the glazing 1 are perfectly secured.
[0039] In the example shown, the elastic material 20 is at least partly constituted by a profiled shim which prevents any direct contact between the frame 8 and the glazing 1. The profile of the shim thus has a general U shape which follows the contour of the housing 5.
[0040] Alternatively, or in a space visible to the FIGURE 4 which can be left free between the wedge and the profile sections 7, the elastic material 20 can comprise an elastic mass deposited at the bottom of the housing 5.
[0041] Preferably, the frame 8 comprises means for protecting the edges 2A and 3A of the translucent panels 2 and 3. A first means comprises lateral wings 10 of the profile 7. Another means comprises lateral wings 11 of the wedge. In the example, these two means are used in combination, with the wings 11 of the wedge interposed between the edges 2A and 3A of the panels and the lateral wings 10 of the profile 7.
[0042] In the example shown in the FIGURE 5 , which will only be described for its differences from that of the FIGURES 3 and 4 , the opening 6 is tiltable around a horizontal axis by the articulation 96 which can for example be produced as described with reference to the FIGURE 2 .
[0043] The direction of tilting is such that the bottom of the outer panel 2 pivots outwards. The lower edge of the outer panel 2 is therefore leading in the opening movement, as is the upper edge of the inner panel 3.
[0044] The two leading edges for the opening movement protrude further from the spacer 4 than the other two edges which are led during the opening movement.
[0045] The leading edges extend beyond the body of the frame 8, while the driven edges are set back from the body of the frame 8. Thus, the joint line between two superimposed openings forms a zigzag which is generally ascending from the outside to the inside of the building. This promotes waterproofing against rainwater.
[0046] In a set of several superimposed openings, the lower opening (bottom of the FIGURE 5 ) may have a particular lower edge, for example of the type shown in FIGURE 4 , to cooperate with a frame 28. The same applies to the upper edge of the upper opening.
[0047] There FIGURES 6 and 7illustrate a lower part of a glazed opening 21 according to a second embodiment of the invention, which will only be described for its differences with that of FIGURES 2 to 5 .
[0048] The glazed opening 21 comprises a frame 8 arranged to be inserted into the housing 5 between the two panels 2 and 3 of the glazing 1 according to the invention. The frame 8 is inserted all around the spacer 4 of the glazing 1.
[0049] The glazed opening 21 further comprises a joinery 23 which is placed around the frame 8, and which can be part of a French window or glazed door frame for example. The joinery 23 is placed against the projecting part of the panel 2, which projects not only from the spacer 4, but also from the frame 8. The panel 2 is typically the one located on the outside of the building.
[0050] However, the joinery 23 surrounds the panel 3, made much less protruding than the panel 2 in relation to the frame 8.
[0051] The glazed opening 21 further comprises a device for holding the opening frame 8 under pressure inside the joinery 23 by means of blocking blocks 22 arranged between the joinery 23 and the frame 8. The blocks 22 cooperate by their shape with the frame 8 so as to prevent the blocks 22 from moving with a component perpendicular to the plane of the frame 8.
[0052] The holding device comprises a pressure screw 24 which is axially immobilized, but free to rotate, relative to the joinery 23. The screw 24 is threadedly engaged with the locking block 22. For its axial immobilization, the screw 24 is threadedly engaged with a self-locking nut 25 arranged so that a wall of the joinery 23 is placed between the screw head 24 and the nut 25, substantially without axial play except that necessary for the free rotation of the screw 24. By rotating the screw 24 in the tightening direction, the locking block 22 is moved towards the frame
[0053] Due to the pressure screw holding devices 24 acting on the frame 8 held captive between the two panels 2 and 3, the glazing 1 is held not simply by gluing, but by a screwed assembly. There is therefore no longer any need to secure it with a mandatory additional element of a type such as used according to the VEC technique.
[0054] The glazed opening 21 further comprises means for axially guiding the locking blocks 22 relative to the opening joinery 23. These guiding means may comprise, for each locking block 22, two rods 31 parallel to the direction of the pressure screw 24, secured to the block 22 and sliding in bores 32 of the joinery 23.
[0055] The glazed opening 21 also comprises adhesive strips 26 arranged between the profile 7 and the exterior panel 3 to allow good sealing of the glazed opening 21.
[0056] The glazed opening 21 comprises in the lower part a housing 27 forming a rail to accommodate a corner bracket in order to constitute the joinery 23 by profiles assembled mitered or straight at the corners of the opening.
[0057] The blocked glazing opening just described has an exterior appearance "without joinery" without requiring a certificate of conformity issued by a certified body, required for glued assemblies.
[0058] Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples which have just been described and numerous adjustments can be made to these examples without departing from the scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims. Nomenclature
