Description

Title of the invention: Luggage rack for vehicle and associated vehicle

[0001] The present invention relates to a luggage rack for a vehicle, more particularly a passenger transport vehicle, in particular a railway vehicle.

[0002] The invention further relates to a vehicle comprising such a luggage rack.

[0003] In passenger transport vehicles, such as railway vehicles, it is known to arrange luggage racks above the passenger seats of the vehicle to form a support for luggage.

[0004] The arrangement of such luggage racks offers the advantage of using the space available in height, above the seats, for storing luggage.

[0005] However, due to their arrangement height, such luggage racks may be difficult to access for some travelers, such as short travelers or people with reduced mobility.

[0006] Furthermore, for fragile people, such as the elderly for example, loading or unloading luggage at arm's length in such a luggage rack can present a difficulty.

[0007] An aim of the invention is to propose a luggage rack for a passenger transport vehicle which is space-saving, ergonomic and easily accessible for the greatest number of passengers, in particular people with reduced mobility and the elderly.

[0008] To this end, the invention relates to a luggage rack comprising:

[0009] - a support element movable between a first position and a second position, the support element being capable of supporting at least one piece of luggage in each of the first position and the second position; and

[0010] - a locking system having a locking configuration and a confi unlocking configuration, the locking system in the locking configuration being capable of locking the support element in each of the first position and the second position, the locking system in the unlocking configuration being capable of allowing the movement of the support element between the first position and the second position.

[0011] Such a luggage rack is therefore capable of supporting luggage in each of the first position and the second position.

[0012] The passenger can therefore choose the position of the luggage rack that seems most suitable to him, depending on his abilities.

[0013] The passenger is free, for example, to load his luggage when the support element is in its second position and then return to its first position to save space.

[0014] The locking system ensures passenger safety by preventing unwanted movement of the support element, which could cause luggage to fall and injure passengers.

[0015] According to particular embodiments, the luggage rack comprises one or more of the following characteristics, taken in isolation or in all technically possible combinations:

[0016] - the vehicle comprises a floor, the first position of the support element being a high position, the second position being a low position, the distance between the support element in the first position and the floor of the vehicle being greater than the distance between the support element in the second position and the floor of the vehicle, the distance being measured perpendicular to the floor of the vehicle;

[0017] - the distance between the support element in its first position and the floor of the vehicle is greater than or equal to 1500 mm;

[0018] - the vehicle comprises at least one partition, the luggage rack comprising an arm of connection fixed at a first end to the support element and at a second end to the partition of the vehicle or to an element of said partition;

[0019] - the connecting arm is in pivot connection with the partition at its second end;

[0020] - the luggage rack comprises a holding unit movable between a retracted position and a deployed position, the holding unit extending between a first end and a second end, the distance between the first end and the second end of the holding unit in the retracted position being less than the distance between the first end and the second end of the holding unit in the deployed position, the holding unit being in the retracted position when the support member is in the first position, and the holding unit being in the deployed position when the support member is in the second position;

[0021] - the holding unit comprises a flexible canvas and a roller suitable for allowing the movement of the canvas between the deployed position and the retracted position;

[0022] - the locking system is capable of automatically switching to the configuration of locking during vehicle movement phases;

[0023] - the locking system is chosen from an electromagnet and a lock pneumatic.

[0024] The present description also relates to a railway vehicle, comprising:

[0025] - at least one host region, the host region preferably being an area reception for a wheelchair user or a priority seat for people with reduced mobility, and

[0026] - at least one luggage rack as described above, said luggage rack being installed above the host region.

[0027] The invention will be better understood upon reading the following description, given solely by way of example, and made with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

[0028] - [Fig.l] [Fig.l] is a schematic sectional representation of part of a vehicle comprising a luggage rack according to a first embodiment; and

[0029] - [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is a schematic sectional representation of part of a vehicle comprising a luggage rack according to a second embodiment.

[0030] [Fig.l] illustrates a sectional view of a portion of the interior of a vehicle 10 comprising at least one luggage rack 12 according to the invention.

[0031] The vehicle 10 is a vehicle intended for the transport of passengers.

[0032] The vehicle 10 is for example a railway vehicle such as a metro, a tram or a train.

[0033] Alternatively, the vehicle 10 is a bus or a boat.

[0034] In the remainder of the description, the terms “on”, “under”, “above”, “below”, “upper”, “lower” are defined with respect to a vertical direction V-V' which is a direction of elevation of the vehicle 10 when the vehicle 10 travels in a horizontal direction of travel, for example on horizontal rails or on a horizontal road.

[0035] The vehicle 10 comprises a body 14 defining at least one passenger compartment 16 defining a passenger reception space.

[0036] The body 14 comprises at least one floor 18, at least one partition 20 extending perpendicular to the floor 18 and at least one ceiling 22.

[0037] The floor 18 extends substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction V-V' of the vehicle 10 and defines a lower horizontal limit of the passenger compartment 16.

[0038] The ceiling 22 extends substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction V-V' of the vehicle 10 and defines an upper horizontal limit of the passenger compartment 16.

[0039] The partition 20 extends substantially parallel to the vertical direction V-V' of the vehicle 10 and connects the floor 18 and the ceiling 22.

[0040] The passenger compartment 16 is for example delimited laterally by two partitions 20.

[0041] In the case where the vehicle 10 is a multi-story vehicle, for example a duplex vehicle, the body 14 defines at least one lower passenger compartment and one upper passenger compartment.

[0042] The floor 18 of the upper passenger compartment defines the ceiling 22 of the lower passenger compartment.

[0043] In the remainder of the description, for the sake of clarity, we will always refer to the same passenger compartment 16 of the vehicle 10 delimited by a floor 18, at least one partition 20 and a ceiling 22. The person skilled in the art will understand that said passenger compartment 16 may be a passenger compartment of a single-story vehicle or of a multi-story vehicle.

[0044] The vehicle 10 comprises at least one reception region 24 defined in the passenger compartment 16.

[0045] As illustrated in [Fig.l], the reception region 24 is for example an area reception for a wheelchair user.

[0046] Said reception area for a wheelchair user is for example delimited by floor markings 18 and is configured to accommodate a wheelchair user.

[0047] A securing device, comprising for example attachment straps or notches, is advantageously installed, in a known manner, in said reception area so as to accommodate a user in a wheelchair in complete safety.

[0048] Alternatively, the reception region 24 is a priority seat for people with reduced mobility.

[0049] Advantageously, such a priority seat for people with reduced mobility is adapted for people with reduced mobility, for example with an ergonomic seat shape, an enlarged seat size, as well as more space around the seat in order to increase its accessibility.

[0050] The reception region 24 is preferably easily accessible and is for example close to the exit doors of the passenger compartment 16.

[0051] Alternatively, the reception region 24 is not specifically adapted for a wheelchair user or a person with reduced mobility.

[0052] The luggage rack 12 comprises a support element 26, a locking system 28 and advantageously a connecting arm 30.

[0053] According to the invention, the support element 26 is movable between a first position and a second position.

[0054] In a preferred embodiment illustrated in [Fig.l], the first position of the support member 26 (dotted in [Fig.l]) is a high position and the second position of the support member 26 is a low position.

[0055] In other words, the distance H1 between the support element 26 in the first position and the floor 18 of the vehicle is greater than the distance H2 between the support element 26 in the second position and the floor 18 of the vehicle.

[0056] The distance is measured perpendicular to the floor 18 of the vehicle, and more particularly in the vertical direction V-V'.

[0057] The two positions of the support element 26 in the passenger compartment 16 are preferably defined with the aim of complying with the safety standards concerning the passenger space, in particular the requirements defined in the regulation TSI PMR:2015 by decision of 18 November 2014 (technical specifications for interoperability relating to the accessibility of the Union's railway system for disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility).

[0058] The passenger space to be respected is defined as the volume to be left free for the passenger around the seat or the passenger reception area.

[0059] The traveler space 32 to be respected in a reception area for a user in wheelchair is shown schematically in dotted lines in [Fig.l] as an example.

[0060] This traveler space 32 defines for example a free height to be respected in said reception area greater than 1500mm.

[0061] The support element 26 is positioned in each of the first position and the second position so as to be located outside of said travel space 32.

[0062] In the embodiment illustrated in [Fig.l], the distance H1 between the support element 26 in the first position and the floor 18 of the vehicle is for example chosen to be greater than or equal to 1500mm.

[0063] According to the invention, the support element 26 is capable of supporting at least one item of luggage in each of the first and second positions.

[0064] For this purpose, the support element 26 has, for example, a bucket shape defining a support base 34 on which luggage can rest.

[0065] The support bottom 34 defines the lowest point of the support element 26.

[0066] Said support base 34 extends substantially parallel to the floor 18 of the vehicle. in each of the first and second positions of the support member 26.

[0067] The connecting arm 30 is fixed at a first end 36 to the support element 26 and at a second end 38 to the partition 20 or to an element of said partition 20.

[0068] The connecting arm 30 is in fixed connection with the support element 26 at the first end 36.

[0069] In other words, the connecting arm 30 is integral with the support element 26.

[0070] The connecting arm 30 is in pivot connection with the partition 20 at its second end 38.

[0071] At its second end 38, the connecting arm 30 is movable in rotation along an axis of rotation R-R'.

[0072] The axis of rotation R-R' of the connecting arm 30 extends along the partition 20 substantially perpendicular to the vertical direction V-V' of the vehicle 10.

[0073] As illustrated in [Fig.l], the rotation of the connecting arm 30 along its rotation axis R-R' causes the support element 26 to move between its first position and its second position.

[0074] The locking system 28 has a locking configuration and an unlocking configuration.

[0075] In the locking configuration, the locking system 28 is capable of locking the support element 26 in each of the first and second positions.

[0076] In other words, when the locking system 28 is in the locking configuration, the support element 26 is fixed in one of its first or second positions. The mobility of the support element 26 between its first and second positions is blocked.

[0077] For example, the locking system 28 is configured to block the pivot connection between the connecting arm 30 and the partition 20.

[0078] In the unlocking configuration, the locking system 28 is capable of allowing the movement of the support element 26 between the first and second positions.

[0079] The support element 26 is movable between the first and second position only when the locking system 28 is in the unlocking configuration.

[0080] Advantageously, for safety reasons, the locking system 28 is capable of automatically switching to the locking configuration during the vehicle's movement phases.

[0081] When the vehicle 10 is in the circulation phase, the support element 26 is then fixed in one of its first or second positions.

[0082] Such locking during the vehicle's movement phases makes it possible to prevent movements of the support element 26, which could cause luggage to fall, for example during a braking phase, which could injure a passenger.

[0083] The locking system 28 is advantageously chosen from an electromagnet or a pneumatic lock.

[0084] Advantageously, the luggage rack 12 also comprises a holding unit 40 movable between a retracted position and a deployed position.

[0085] As illustrated in [Fig.l], the holding unit 40 extends substantially in the vertical direction V-V' of the vehicle 10

[0086] More particularly, the holding unit 40 extends between a first end 42 and a second end 44.

[0087] The first end 42 of the holding unit 40 is an upper end of the holding unit 40 and is rigidly fixed to the body 14 of the vehicle, such as for example the ceiling 22 or an element of the partition 20, as illustrated in [Fig.l].

[0088] The second end 44 of the holding unit 40 is a lower end of the holding unit 40 and is rigidly fixed to the support element 26.

[0089] The distance DI between the first end 42 and the second end 44 of the holding unit 40 in the retracted position is less than the distance D2 between the first end 42 and the second end 44 of the holding unit 40 in the deployed position. The distance is measured perpendicular to the floor 18 of the vehicle, and more particularly in the vertical direction V-V'.

[0090] As illustrated in [Fig.l], when the support member 26 is in the first position, the holding unit 40 is in the retracted position.

[0091] When the support element 26 is in the second position, the holding unit 40 is in the deployed position.

[0092] The holding unit 40 advantageously defines a side wall of the element of support 26 and extends on the side of the support member 26 closest to the partition 20.

[0093] Such a holding unit 40 makes it possible to avoid any pinching or damage to luggage received in the support element 26 when the latter is moved between the first and second positions.

[0094] The holding unit 40 comprises for example a flexible fabric 46 and a winder 48 around which the flexible fabric 46 is able to be wound.

[0095] The reel 48 is rigidly fixed to the body 14 and defines, for example, the first end 42 of the holding unit 40.

[0096] The flexible fabric 46 defines two variable portions, a first portion wound around the reel 48 and a second portion extending between the reel 48 and a free end fixed to the support element 26, thus defining the second end 44 of the holding unit 40.

[0097] The reel 48 is capable of allowing the movement of the canvas 46 between the deployed position and the retracted position.

[0098] The first portion of the flexible fabric 46 wound around the reel 48 is larger in the retracted position than in the deployed position.

[0099] Winding or unwinding the flexible fabric 46 around the reel 48 allows the fabric 46 to move between the deployed position and the retracted position.

[0100] Alternatively, the winder 48 is rigidly fixed to the support element 26 and defines the second end 44 of the holding unit 40. The free end of the flexible fabric 46 thus defines the first end 42 of the holding unit 40.

[0101] The luggage rack 12 further advantageously comprises means for assisting the movement of the support element 26.

[0102] The luggage rack 12 comprises, for example, motorization or automation means for assisting in the movement of the support element 26 via call buttons, for example.

[0103] The luggage rack 12 optionally comprises, for example, mechanical means for assisting in the movement of the support element 26 using handles, angle drives or cables, for example.

[0104] A use of such a luggage rack 12 will now be described.

[0105] A luggage rack 12 is installed above a reception region 24, for example a reception area for a wheelchair user, defined in a passenger compartment 16 of a vehicle 10.

[0106] The vehicle 10 being stationary, the locking system 28 is in the unlocking configuration.

[0107] The support element 26 is for example in its first position, and more particularly in its high position.

[0108] A passenger can store his luggage in the support element 26.

[0109] If the high position of the support element 26 is too high for the passenger and the passenger cannot easily store his luggage in the support element 26, the passenger can easily move the support element 26 to its second position, for example its low position.

[0110] For this purpose, the passenger pulls, for example, on a handle or directly the support element 26 downwards, causing the connecting arm 30 to rotate around its axis of rotation R-R' and therefore a movement of the support element 26 towards its second position.

[0111] Alternatively, the movement of the support element 26 is automated and the passenger presses, for example, a call button causing the rotation of the connecting arm 30 and the movement of the support element 26.

[0112] The passenger can thus store his luggage more easily in the luggage rack 12.

[0113] In order to save space and if the passenger does not wish to access his luggage during the circulation phases, the passenger can go through the reverse process to return the support element 26 to its first position.

[0114] The passenger 26 can also leave the luggage rack 12 in its second position for simplified access to his luggage during the journey, which is advantageous for example for a user in a wheelchair.

[0115] When the vehicle is started, the locking system 28 advantageously automatically switches to the locking configuration, thus locking the support element 26 in its position.

[0116] Such a luggage rack 12 facilitates the loading or unloading of luggage, by providing a loading / unloading position accessible to the greatest number of people.

[0117] The support element 26 of such a luggage rack 12 is also easily movable between a first space-saving position and a second more ergonomic and easily accessible position.

[0118] The locking system 28 guarantees the safety of passengers by preventing unwanted movement of the support element 26, which could cause luggage to fall and injure passengers.

[0119] According to another embodiment of the invention illustrated in [Fig.2], the luggage rack 12 does not comprise a connecting arm 30 in pivot connection with the partition 20 and causing the support element 26 to move between its first and second position.

[0120] In this embodiment, the holding unit 40 comprises a first fixed rigid portion 50 and a second rigid portion 52 movable in translation between the deployed position and the retracted position.

[0121] The second portion 52 is movable in a translation direction substantially parallel to the vertical direction V-V'.

[0122] The first portion 50 is rigidly fixed to the partition 20 or an element of the partition 20 and the second portion 52 is integral with the support element 26.

[0123] A translation of the second portion 52 towards its deployed position, for example as illustrated in [Fig.2] downwards, causes the support element 26 to move towards its second position.

[0124] A translation of the second portion 52 towards its retracted position, for example as illustrated in [Fig.2] upwards, causes the support element 26 to move towards its first position.
