Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for storing and dispensing wrapping paper
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for storing and distributing wrapping paper in which the wrapping paper and accessories for using said paper to wrap objects, in particular gifts, are stored.
[0002] Such a device was notably described in application FR-A-3 043 988 and proposes a case that holds all the parts and tools necessary for making a gift package. This case has several compartments for storing the roll of paper, the ribbon and its cutting tool, and accessories such as adhesive labels. The case includes a cutting edge for cutting the paper.
[0003] US-A-2005 / 0127083 also describes a box containing rolls of wrapping paper. These paper rolls are held in place within the box so as to extend parallel to one another while being able to rotate to allow unwinding. The box further has a cutting blade on one edge to allow cutting a portion of the paper.
[0004] Such boxes therefore make it possible to contain in the same place the different elements needed to make packaging and in particular gift packaging, facilitating both their storage and their use.
[0005] However, it has been observed that the cutting blade, generally consisting of a toothed blade, on the edge of the casing can cause tears during cutting which do not allow a clean cut of the paper, which results in a waste of paper.
[0006] The invention therefore aims to overcome the aforementioned disadvantages of the prior art by providing a box in which all the necessary packaging elements can be stored and which allows for a clean paper cut without the risk of tearing the paper incorrectly.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates to a device for storing and dispensing wrapping paper comprising a box having at least one compartment configured to hold a roll of paper, characterized in that the box has a tab projecting from its outer surface and provided with a slot in which is housed a cutting device that can slide along said slot, the box also having an opening adjacent to and along the tab, through which the paper can be unrolled out of the box, the cutting device being slidable along the slot of the tongue to cut the paper intended to extend against said tongue.
[0008] Advantageously, the free end of the paper is inserted through the opening, which acts as a guide, allowing the desired length of paper to be unrolled. Once the desired length is obtained, the paper, resting against the tab, can be easily cut by moving the cutting device within the tab's slot.
[0009] According to one embodiment, the box or container comprises at least one wall from which the tab extends in projection, with the opening provided in the wall along said tab.
[0010] According to another embodiment, the box includes a movable or removable lid, the tab being provided in projection at the end of a wall of the box cooperating with said lid, the opening being provided between said tab and the lid in the closed position of the lid.
[0011] The insertion of the roll of wrapping paper can thus be done through the lid extending at least along the compartment for said roll of paper, or through an end of the box having an opening through which the roll can be introduced into the compartment by one end.
[0012] The box has a cross-section that may be parallelepiped, polygonal, circular, or ovoid, for example. The tab preferably projects perpendicularly from a flat face of the box, or radially from it when the box is curved. It is also possible for the tab to project from an angle between two faces of a polygon, such as a pentagon. In the case where the box has a round or ovoid cross-section, a complementary base is provided for it, or a flat portion is formed in the cross-section to serve as a base.
[0013] Preferably, the box has a parallelepiped shape, comprising a bottom wall, two side walls, two end walls and a movable or removable top wall forming a lid, the tab extending in projection perpendicularly to a wall of the box.
[0014] According to a first embodiment, the tab extends outward from a side wall, preferably extending perpendicularly to the side wall, with the opening provided along said tab, so that the paper enclosed in the compartment of the box can be unrolled through said opening, extending over the tab, and then cut by the cutting device housed sliding in the slot of the tab.
[0015] According to another embodiment, the tongue extends outward at the upper end of a side wall, forming a rim, the opening being provided between said tongue and the upper wall forming the lid.
[0016] Preferably, the box according to the invention includes several compartments to receive, for example, a roll of curling ribbon, a roll of adhesive tape, and other decorative elements such as ready-made curling bows, adhesive labels, etc.
[0017] Preferably, the cutting device includes at least one cutting blade, extending through the slot in the tab to come into contact with the paper placed on the tab.
[0018] According to a preferred embodiment, the cutting device comprises a gripping part, a support part configured to carry at least one cutting blade at one end of the cutting device and a sliding guide part for the cutting device along the slot of the tongue, the support part and the sliding guide part having an elongated shape whose longitudinal axis extends along the axis of the slot.
[0019] The gripping portion and the support portion are arranged to be positioned above the tongue, with the cutting blade(s) carried by the support portion extending beyond the slot, while the sliding guide portion of the cutting device extends below the tongue. This sliding guide portion has a section whose width corresponds to the width of the tongue's slot, this section being extended by a wider portion that retains the sliding guide portion on the tongue.
[0020] The support portion and the sliding guide portion have an elongated shape whose longitudinal axis extends along the axis of the slot. Preferably, a cutting blade is thus housed at each end of the cutting device, thereby allowing cutting in both directions of the cutting device's movement within the slot of the tongue.
[0021] The end(s) of the support portion have, on the face of said support portion intended to rest on the tab, an angle forming a beveled end which, during sliding, allows the wrapping paper to be engaged under the support portion. A cutting blade preferably has a triangular shape and is housed between the sliding guide portion and the support portion, with its blade positioned in line with the beveled end. The beveled end of the support portion thus allows the paper to be folded against the tab and guided towards the cutting blade, facilitating a tear-free cut, as the paper is lowered against the slot.
[0022] The slot in the tongue advantageously has an end of appropriate dimensions to allow the cutting device to be engaged in the slot.
[0023] Preferably, this box is made of a transparent material, allowing the wrapping paper and accessories inside to be seen. It is therefore possible to offer a storage and dispensing device for wrapping paper according to the invention for sale, thus giving buyers the option of having a ready-to-use set consisting of wrapping paper and various accessories that can be easily selected.

[0037] As can be seen in [Fig.1], the device for storing and distributing wrapping paper according to the invention comprises a box 1, preferably of parallelepiped shape.
[0038] This box 1 includes a container consisting of a bottom wall 11, two side walls 12, two end walls 13 and a removable top wall forming a lid 14.
[0039] Box 1 has at least one compartment 15 configured to accommodate a roll of RP paper.
[0040] The box 1 also includes a compartment 17 for holding a roll of ribbon RB, a compartment 18 for holding a roll of adhesive tape RA. These compartments 15, 17, 18 are defined by internal walls 16 forming partitions.
[0041] The box has on a side wall 12, a tab 2 projecting from said wall 12, preferably perpendicular to said wall 12. This tab 2 has a slot 21 in which is housed a cutting device 3 that can be slid along said slot 21.
[0042] This cutting device 3 comprises a gripping part 31, a support part 32 configured to carry at least one cutting blade 33, preferably two cutting blades 33, one at each end of the cutting device 3, and a sliding guide part 34 of the cutting device 3 along the slot 21 of the tongue 2. The support part 32 and the sliding guide part 34 have an elongated shape whose longitudinal axis extends along the axis of the slot 21.
[0043] Preferably, a cutting blade 33 is thus housed at each end of the cutting device 3 and thus allows cutting in both directions of drive of the cutting device 3 in the slot 21 of the tongue 2.
[0044] The gripping part 31 and the support part 32 are arranged to be positioned above the tongue 2, the cutting blade(s) 33 carried by the support part 32 extending outwards through the slot 21.
[0045] The sliding guide portion 34 of the cutting device 3 extends below the tongue 2. This sliding guide portion 34 has a portion 341 whose width corresponds to the width of the slot 21 of the tongue 2, this portion 314 being extended by a wider portion 342 allowing the sliding guide portion 34 to be retained on the tongue 2. The sliding guide portion 34 of the cutting device 3 extends below the tongue 2. This sliding guide portion 34 has a portion whose width corresponds to the width of the slot in the tongue, this portion being extended by a wider portion allowing the sliding guide portion to be retained on the tongue.
[0046] One or both ends of the support part 32 have on the face of said support part 32 intended to rest on the tab 2 an angle forming a beveled end 321 allowing, during sliding, the engagement of the packaging paper under the support part 32.
[0047] A cutting blade 33 preferably having a triangular shape is housed between the sliding guide part 34 and the support part 32, with its blade 33 arranged in line with the beveled end 321. The beveled end 321 of the support part 32 thus allows the paper to be folded against the tab 2 and guided towards the cutting blade 33, promoting a tear-free cut, the paper being lowered against the slot 21.
[0048] The cutting blades 33 have a triangular shape and are housed between the sliding guide part 34 and the support part 32 which may have a notch in which the cutting blade 33 is housed, as can be seen in [Fig.3] or 4.
[0049] The cutting device 3 is thus slidable along the slot 21 of the tongue 2 in both directions and has cutting blades 33 extending obliquely which allows the paper to be cut without tearing it, see [Fig.3] or 5.
[0050] The box 1 further includes an elongated distribution opening 4 provided in the wall 12 and along the tab 2, through which the paper contained in the box 1 can be unrolled out of said box 1.
[0051] The opening 4 also allows the ribbon RB to pass through so that the cutting device 3 can be used to cut it. The tab 2 and the opening 4 thus preferably extend over a large part of the length of the box 1. The outer edge of the tab 2 may be provided with teeth 22 formed at the level of the compartment 18 containing the adhesive tape RA and allowing the adhesive tape RA, which can also be unwound through the opening 4, to be cut.
[0052] When the desired length of paper has been unrolled, the paper which is resting against the tab 2 can be cut using the cutting device 3 which is slid along the slot 21 of the tab 2.
[0053] As can be seen in figures 5 and 6, in this second embodiment, the box 100 comprises a container consisting of a bottom wall 110, two side walls 120, two end walls 130 and a removable top wall forming a lid 140.
[0054] The box 100 has at least one compartment 150 configured to accommodate a roll of RP paper.
[0055] The box 100 has, on the upper part of a side wall 120, a tab 20 projecting from the wall 120 and perpendicular to it. The opening 40 in the box 100 is formed between the end of the wall 120 and the lid 140 in the closed position. The lid 140 can be arranged to form this opening 40 in the closed position of the box 100. A cutting device 3 is also used and is mounted to slide in the slot of the tab 20.
[0056] The paper can thus be unrolled and, for example, pinched between the tab 20 and the lid 140 of this box 100, which allows it to be cut safely using the cutting device 3.
[0057] As can be seen in Figures 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12, the device may comprise a box of different shapes, notably having an ovoid cross-section (see Fig. 8), a circular cross-section (see Fig. 10), a hexagonal cross-section (see Fig. 9), a pentagonal cross-section (see Fig. 11), or even a triangular cross-section (see Fig. 12).
