BIOMASS PRODUCTION OF MICROORGANISMS

Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a biomass of microorganisms of the genus Schizochytrium or Aurantiochytrium comprising the steps of: a) inoculating, in a bioreactor, a culture medium comprising a brine, preferably a 6% dry extract brine, and nitrogen, preferably at a concentration of between 5 and 15 g / L of culture medium, with an inoculum of microorganisms of the genus Schizochytrium or Aurantiochytrium, said brine being a co-product of the demineralization treatment of whey, b) culturing the microorganisms in said culture medium under conditions, in particular of temperature, pH, agitation and / or oxygen supply, appropriate for the growth of said microorganisms, preferably under non-axenic conditions, and c) collecting the biomass obtained at the end of step b).
