Spectator rail for improved safety

Abstract

The present invention provides a spectator rail being a section of fence of defined dimensions, comprising one or more boards, the panels being in use secured between one or more posts secured, in use into a footing, the spectator rail being, in use, between 1 and 1.75 metres in height and is configured so that under excessive lateral load, such as in a surge of moving to a large crowd the section is designed to controllably collapse to release pressure on the crowd and in particular on persons abutting the rail. The configuration of the laterally deformable section between the posts is that the section between the post can be readily replaced.
