Abstract

To reduce chipping while obtaining a desired shape by chamfering.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a glass article 10T includes: obtaining, by cutting off a glass preform, a glass material 10S having a first main surface 10A, a second main surface 10B, and an end surface 10C connecting the first main surface 10A and the second main surface 10B, the end surface 10C having an arithmetical average height Sa of 0.1 μm or more and less than 1.0 μm; and forming a chamfered part 10D2 by grinding the end surface 10C whose arithmetical average height Sa is 0.1 μm or more and less than 1.0 μm by a whetstone W having abrasive grains whose median diameter D50 is 8-24 μm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
