Abstract
The present invention aims to provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst having excellent exhaust gas purification performance, and provides an exhaust gas purifying catalyst (1) comprising a substrate (10), a first catalyst layer (20) provided on the upstream side of the substrate (10), and a second catalyst layer (30) provided on the downstream side of the substrate (10), in which the first catalyst layer (20) contains a precious metal element and a Ce-Zr-based composite oxide, and the second catalyst layer (30) contains a precious metal element and Al2O3, the mass content of Al in the first catalyst layer (20) calculated as Al2O3 is 12 mass% or less, and the ratio of the mass content of Al in the first catalyst layer (20) calculated as Al2O3 to the mass content of Al in the second catalyst layer (30) calculated as Al2O3 is 0 or more and 0.65 or less.
