Abstract
Description
Chain clamp protection material
[0001] This technology relates to a protective material that protects a chain clamp from flying paint or abrasives.
[0002] Painting and blasting work at high altitudes requires scaffolding as a work platform. Two common methods for setting up scaffolding are assembling it from the ground up, and hanging it from an existing structure. When using hanging scaffolding, a chain is fastened to the flange of an existing steel beam using a hanging scaffolding clamp, a single pipe is hung horizontally from the bottom end of the hanging chain, and the scaffolding is then laid on top of it.
[0003] During painting work, paint drips and splashes are unavoidable, so measures such as laying protective sheets on scaffolding are taken. The same applies to blasting work, where abrasives and paint residues fly around. There are special protective materials on the market that are wrapped around and covered with protective material for single-wall pipes. Masker, a long-standing protective material of this type, is inexpensive and easy to obtain, so it is widely used to protect a variety of materials, including single-wall pipes.
[0004] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2020-33478
[0005] Although masking is simple, it lacks durability and weather resistance, making it unsuitable for long-term construction work. Furthermore, masking that has become coated with paint or other substances must be disposed of as industrial waste. Furthermore, skilled techniques are required to neatly cover components with complex shapes, such as clamps and chains, in a short space of time. If an inexperienced person carries out the covering, the masking will not only become useless as it tears and peels over time, but also significantly impair the appearance of the construction site.
[0006] In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present invention provides the following means.
[0007] A first aspect of the present invention is a protective material that covers a chain clamp for suspended scaffolding to protect it from flying paint and abrasives, and comprises a clamp covering part that covers the upper part of the clamp located above the flange that secures the chain clamp, a chain covering part that covers the lower part of the clamp located below the flange and the chain suspended from the clamp, and a connecting part that connects the clamp covering part and the chain covering part, the clamp covering part being formed as a bag-like body that is attached so as to cover the upper part of the clamp, and the chain covering part being formed as a band-like body that is attached so as to be wrapped around the lower part of the clamp and the chain.
[0008] A second aspect of the present invention is the first aspect, wherein the clamp covering portion is formed in a bag-like shape with an opening provided at the bottom.
[0009] A third aspect of the present invention is the first or second aspect, in which an elastic material is arranged in the connecting portion, and when a tensile force is applied to the connecting portion, the clamp covering portion and the chain covering portion are displaced relative to each other.
[0010] According to the first aspect of the present invention, it is possible to apply protective covering to the top and bottom of the flange of a chain clamp for suspended scaffolding in a manner suitable for each shape, making it easy to attach and detach without any strain, and effectively covering the entire chain clamp when attached.
[0011] According to the second aspect of the present invention, the clamp covering part can be attached simply by placing it on top, and by attaching it while pulling the chain covering part downward after placing the clamp covering part, the opening of the clamp covering part comes into close contact with the top surface of the flange, thereby completely covering the top of the clamp.
[0012] According to the third aspect of the present invention, it is possible to change the relative positions of the clamp covering portion and the chain covering portion in accordance with the thickness of the flange, thereby eliminating the difficulty of installation due to differences in flange thickness and the problem of gaps appearing due to deformation after installation.
[0013] A diagram showing the chain clamp attached to the flange. A diagram showing the protective material laid out on a flat surface. A diagram showing the chain clamp covered with protective material.
[0014] An embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings. Figure 1 shows a state in which a chain clamp is attached to a flange, Figure 2 shows a state in which the protective material is laid out flat, and Figure 3 shows a state in which the chain clamp is covered with the protective material.
[0015] [Structure of Chain Clamp] Figure 1 shows the state of the chain clamp attached to a flange. The chain clamp 10 is composed of a clamp portion 14 that vertically clamps the flange 12 of the steel beam, a U-shaped metal fitting 16 pivotally supported at the bottom of the clamp portion 14, and a chain 18 hooked onto the U-shaped metal fitting 16. The upper portion 14a of the clamp portion 14, to which the tightening screw 20 is attached, is located above the flange 12, and the lower portion 14b, to which the U-shaped metal fitting 16 is attached, is located below the flange 12. Because there are a wide variety of flanges 12 with different thicknesses, the gripping thickness of the clamp portion 14 can be adjusted (generally 6 mm to 40 mm) using the tightening screw.
[0016] [Structure of the protective material] The protective material 20 is composed of a clamp covering part 22, a chain covering part 24, and a connecting part 26 that connects the clamp covering part 22 and the chain covering part 24. The protective material 20 is made of a resin such as polypropylene processed into a sheet shape, the clamp covering part 22 and the chain covering part 24 are made of a polypropylene sheet, and the connecting part 26 is made of a polypropylene sheet and rubber enclosed in the polypropylene sheet.
[0017] The connecting portion 26 is required to expand and contract in accordance with the thickness of the flange 12, so there must be a certain amount of slack in the portion enclosing the rubber. The length is adjusted so that it can accommodate the maximum thickness of the flange 12 (approximately 40 mm) when the slack is fully extended. The rubber serves to ensure that the protective material 20 covers the chain clamp 10 as tightly as possible by tightly adhering the clamp covering portion 22 to the upper surface of the flange 12 and the chain covering portion 24 to the lower surface of the flange 12. Therefore, the length is adjusted so that it can accommodate the minimum thickness of the flange 12 (approximately 6 mm).
[0018] The clamp covering portion 22, the chain covering portion 24, and the connecting portion 26 are connected to one another by means of thermocompression, adhesive, stitching, etc. The connecting portion 26 may be made of a polypropylene sheet that is continuous with the clamp covering portion 22, or may be made of a polypropylene sheet that is continuous with the chain covering portion 22.
[0019] The clamp covering part 22 is formed in a bag shape with an opening 28 at the bottom. With the opening 28 open, the clamp covering part 22 is attached to the clamp upper part 14a from top to bottom to cover the part of the chain clamp 10 located above the flange 12.
[0020] The chain covering portion 24 is formed in a strip shape. It is attached by wrapping it around the clamp lower portion 14b and the chain 18 at the same time, thereby covering the portion of the chain clamp 10 located below the flange 12. Hook-and-loop fasteners 30 are attached to both the left and right ends of the chain covering portion 24, and after wrapping it around the clamp lower portion 14b and the chain 18, the hook-and-loop fasteners 30 are used to secure the polypropylene sheet so that it does not open.
[0021] [How to Use the Protective Material] First, a method for attaching the protective material 20 to the chain clamp 10 will be described, and then a method for removing the attached protective material 20 from the chain clamp 10 will be described.
[0022] When attaching the protective material 20, first open the opening 28 provided below the clamp covering part 22 and attach it so that it covers the upper clamp part 14a from above, then attach it so that it wraps around the lower clamp part 14b and chain 18 while pulling the chain covering part 24 downward according to the thickness of the flange 12, and finally secure it using the hook-and-loop fastener 30. An experienced worker can attach the protective material 20 to the chain clamp 10 in a few to 10-odd seconds.
[0023] Next, the method for removing the protective material 20 from the chain clamp 10 is the reverse of the procedure for installation. First, the hook-and-loop fastener 30 is peeled off to release the chain covering 24 from the state in which it is wrapped around the lower clamp part 14b and the chain 18, and then the clamp covering 22 is lifted and released from the covering on the upper clamp part 14a. At this time, the chain covering 24 may get caught on the flange 12 and prevent the clamp covering 22 from lifting, so pulling the chain covering 24 toward you will make it easier to lift the clamp covering 22. As with installation, an experienced worker can remove the protective material 20 from the chain clamp 10 in a few to 10-odd seconds.
[0024] Since the protective material 20 removed from the chain clamp 10 has paint or the like attached thereto, the protective material 20 can be reused by wiping off the paint or the like using a dedicated solvent or the like.
