Abstract
Description
Lyocell material, filters for smoking articles, smoking articles and methods for manufacturing them
[0001] The present application relates to lyocell material, filters containing the same, smoking articles, and methods for manufacturing the same.
[0002] Until now, cellulose acetate fibers have been primarily used as cigarette filter materials. While cellulose acetate is known to be biodegradable, cellulose acetate-based smoking filter materials retain their original form for one to two years after being buried in the soil, and complete biodegradation takes considerable time. Considering the amount of tobacco products collected and landfilled as waste after smoking, as well as the amount and toxicity of tobacco products discarded into the environment, there is a need to further improve the biodegradability of smoking filter materials. Accordingly, lyocell, a more environmentally friendly material, has recently been chosen as a replacement for cellulose acetate.
[0003] There is a need to develop a filter material that can replace conventional cellulose acetate materials while also having superior hardness, superior quality, user satisfaction, and improved productivity.
[0004] Meanwhile, lyocell has been proposed as an alternative to cellulose acetate. However, lyocell is known to differ from cellulose acetate in terms of spreading characteristics.
[0005] One purpose of the present application is to provide a lyocell material that can replace commercially available cellulose acetate for use as a filter for smoking articles.
[0006] Another object of the present application is to provide a lyocell material for a smoking article filter, which is environmentally friendly in its manufacturing process and has excellent biodegradability when disposed of.
[0007] Another object of the present application is to provide a lyocell material for a smoking article filter having controlled electrostatic properties.
[0008] Another object of the present application is to provide a lyocell filter for smoking articles.
[0009] Another object of the present application is to provide a smoking article (e.g., a cigarette) comprising a lyocell filter.
[0010] Another object of the present application is to improve the processability related to the manufacture of the lyocell material, filter and smoking article.
[0011] The above and other objectives of the present application can all be achieved by the invention of the present application, which is described in detail below.
[0012] According to specific examples of the present application, a lyocell material, a filter including the same, and a smoking article may be provided.
[0013] The inventor of the present invention discovered that the spreading characteristics and processability of lyocell material can be controlled by adjusting the electrostatic properties of the material. Furthermore, by controlling the spreading characteristics, the process equipment and process conditions used in the process of manufacturing a filter from cellulose acetate material can be substantially identically applied to the process of manufacturing a filter from lyocell material, and this led to the completion of the present invention.
[0014] In this application, the term "spreading properties" refers to the spreading properties of a lyocell material. The spreading of the lyocell material may occur in one or more stages.
[0015] Specifically, the unfolding of the lyocell material can occur in the longitudinal direction of the lyocell material (i.e., a direction parallel to the elongation direction of the lyocell multifilament), the width direction of the lyocell material (i.e., a direction in which the thickness of the lyocell material is thicker excluding the length direction), and / or the thickness direction of the lyocell material (i.e., a direction perpendicular to both the length direction and the width direction).
[0016] The expansion of the lyocell material can be performed by applying an external force to the lyocell material. The external force can be applied in the longitudinal direction, the width direction, and / or the thickness direction of the lyocell material, and the application of the external force can be performed by a mechanical device.
[0017] For example, the lyocell material may be spread across the width of the lyocell material by means of one or more air spreaders. Alternatively, the lyocell material may be spread along the length of the lyocell material by means of one or more air spreaders.
[0018] Alternatively, the lyocell material may be sequentially spread in the width direction of the lyocell material and in the length direction of the lyocell material through two or more air spreaders. Alternatively, the lyocell material may be sequentially spread in the length direction of the lyocell material and in the width direction of the lyocell material through two or more air spreaders. Alternatively, the lyocell material may be simultaneously spread in the width direction of the lyocell material and in the length direction of the lyocell material through one air spreader.
[0019] Through unfolding, the lyocell material can be evenly unfolded, sufficient swelling can occur from the evenly unfolded lyocell material, and the swelling can increase entanglement between monofilaments and / or lyocell multifilaments. The sufficiently unfolded lyocell material can be included in a filter for a smoking article and function as a filter.
[0020] For example, the lyocell material can be gathered by one or more TTJs (Tow Transfer Jets) so that the lyocell material, which has been spread in the lengthwise and widthwise directions, is filled into the filter paper. Specifically, the TTJs can suck the lyocell material so that the spread lyocell material can converge, and the lyocell material can be spread into the filter paper through the one or more TTJs.
[0021]
[0022] Meanwhile, if the spread of the lyocell material is not uniform, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material may be evaluated as being insufficient. Specifically, if the spread of the lyocell material is uneven in the width direction, uneven in the thickness direction, or uneven in the width direction and thickness direction, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material may be evaluated as being insufficient.
[0023] For example, if the spreading properties of the lyocell material are insufficient and clumping of the emulsion contained in the lyocell material is observed with the naked eye, or if the spreading properties of the lyocell material are insufficient and clumping of the multifilament contained in the lyocell material is observed with the naked eye, the spreading properties of the lyocell material may be evaluated as being insufficient.
[0024] More specifically, if the change in the width direction of the lyocell material is more than three times during the spreading process by the air spreader, and the change in the width of the lyocell material is constant during the subsequent process, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material can be evaluated as good.
[0025] Conversely, if the change in the width direction of the lyocell material during the spreading process by the air spreader is less than three times, or the width direction length in which gaps are confirmed between the lyocell materials is 20% or more compared to the width direction length of the lyocell material, or the width change of the lyocell material is 50% or more during the subsequent process, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material may be evaluated as poor.
[0026] For example, visual observation of the lyocell material for evaluation of spreading characteristics can be performed during the spreading step and / or the transport step.
[0027] For example, if swelling does not occur in the portion of the lyocell material to which the external force is applied even though an external force is applied, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material may be evaluated as being insufficient.
[0028] Additionally, if lyocell material breaks and / or lyocell multifilament breaks during the spreading process of the lyocell material, the spreading characteristics may be evaluated as poor. The breakage of the lyocell multifilament may cause plies to form on the surface of the lyocell material. The breakage of the lyocell material and / or lyocell multifilament may be confirmed with the naked eye.
[0029] In order to be used in a filter for a smoking article, lyocell material lacking spreading properties may be subjected to fracture and / or flutter during further processing. For example, to cause the lyocell material to swell, an external force may be applied to the lyocell material in the longitudinal, transverse, and thickness directions by a spreading device, and the external force may cause fracture and / or flutter in the lyocell material.
[0030] More specifically, while being transported in the longitudinal direction, an external force may be applied to the lyocell material in the width and thickness directions, and some of the lyocell multifilaments included in the lyocell material may be broken in the process of unfolding due to the external force, and further, the breakage of the lyocell multifilaments may lead to the breakage of the lyocell material. As a result, the transport of the lyocell material may be interrupted, the production of filters for smoking articles may be restricted, or the performance of filters for smoking articles may be deteriorated.
[0031] Specifically, according to an example of the present application, a lyocell material can be provided, comprising: crimped lyocell multifilaments; and an emulsion coated on the lyocell multifilaments, wherein the emulsion comprises (a) an esterified product of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0032] According to another specific example of the present application, a filter for a smoking article comprising a lyocell material, wherein the lyocell material comprises crimped lyocell multifilaments; and an emulsion coated on the lyocell multifilaments, wherein the emulsion comprises (a) an esterified product of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0033] According to another specific example of the present application, a smoking article comprising the lyocell material or filter may be provided.
[0034] According to another specific example of the present application, a method for manufacturing the lyocell material, a filter comprising the same, and a smoking article may be provided.
[0035] In this specification, "smoking article" may refer to an article capable of generating an aerosol, such as a cigarette or cigar. In this regard, the smoking article may include an aerosol-generating material or an aerosol-forming substrate. Furthermore, the smoking article may include a solid material based on tobacco raw materials, such as tobacco leaf, tobacco ash, or reconstituted tobacco. Additionally, the smoking material may include volatile compounds.
[0036] Unless otherwise specifically defined herein, if the characteristics of lyocell materials, filters for smoking articles, and related components or compositions thereof are affected by temperature, the temperature at which the characteristics are confirmed or measured may be room temperature. In this case, room temperature refers to a temperature in a non-thermally or non-heated state, and may be, for example, a temperature of 10 to 35°C, specifically 15 to 35°C, 20 to 30°C, or about 25°C.
[0037] Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail.
[0038]
[0039] In one example of the present application, the present application relates to lyocell material. Although not particularly limited, the lyocell material may be used in a filter for a smoking article.
[0040] In one exemplary embodiment, a lyocell material for a smoking article filter comprises crimped lyocell multifilaments; and an emulsion coated on at least a portion of the lyocell multifilaments, wherein the electrostatic value measured from the lyocell material is from about 0.01 kV to about 1.4 kV.
[0041] For example, for lyocell materials for smoking article filters, the electrostatic value may be from about 0.05 kV to about 1.2 kV.
[0042] For example, for lyocell material for smoking article filters, the electrostatic value may be from about 0.05 kV to about 1.0 kV.
[0043] For example, for lyocell material for smoking article filters, the electrostatic value may be from about 0.08 kV to about 1.05 kV.
[0044] For example, for lyocell material for smoking article filters, the electrostatic value may be from about 0.10 kV to about 1.05 kV.
[0045] For example, in the case of lyocell material for smoking article filters, the electrostatic value can be measured by the friction method.

[0054] In the exemplary lyocell material for a smoking article filter, friction between the lyocell material and the wear wheel can be generated by rotation of the lyocell material.
[0055] In the exemplary lyocell material for a smoking article filter, friction between the lyocell material and the wear wheel can be generated by the rotation of the wear wheel.
[0056] In an exemplary lyocell material for a smoking article filter, the lyocell material or the wear wheel may rotate at about 40 cycles / min to about 80 cycles / min. Additionally, the lyocell material or the wear wheel may rotate at about 60 cycles / min. Additionally, the electrostatic meter may be spaced from about 5 cm from the lyocell material. Furthermore, the long axis of the electrostatic meter and an imaginary plane parallel to the rotational direction of the lyocell material may intersect or be perpendicular to each other.

[0065] In an exemplary lyocell material for a smoking article filter, the crimped lyocell multifilament may have a total fineness of 15,000 to 45,000 denier and 20 to 50 crimps per inch.

[0080]
[0081] The electrostatic values measured from the lyocell material according to an exemplary embodiment may be from about 0.01 kV to about 1.4 kV, and may be from 0.05 kV to 1.2 kV. Specifically, the electrostatic values measured from the lyocell material are 0.08 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.10 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.12 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.13 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.14 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.15 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.16 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.17 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.18 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.19 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.20 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.21 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.22 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.23 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.24 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.25 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.26 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.27 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.28 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.29 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.30 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.31 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.32 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.33 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.34 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.35 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.36 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.37 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.38 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.39 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.40 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.41 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.42 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.43 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.44 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.45 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.46 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.47 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.48 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.49 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.50 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.61 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.62 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.63 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.It may be 64 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.65 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.66 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.67 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.68 kV to 1.05 kV, 0.69 kV to 1.05 kV, or 0.70 kV to 1.05 kV.
[0082] For example, the lower limit of the electrostatic value is 0.05 kV or more, 0.06 kV or more, 0.07 kV or more, 0.08 kV or more, 0.09 kV or more, 0.10 kV or more, 0.11 kV or more, 0.12 kV or more, 0.13 kV or more, 0.14 kV or more, 0.15 kV or more, 0.16 kV or more, 0.17 kV or more, 0.18 kV or more, 0.19 kV or more, 0.20 kV or more, 0.21 kV or more, 0.22 kV or more, 0.23 kV or more, 0.24 kV or more, 0.25 kV or more, 0.26 kV or more, 0.27 kV or more, 0.28 kV or more, 0.29 kV or more, 0.30 kV Above, 0.31 kV or more, 0.32 kV or more, 0.33 kV or more, 0.34 kV or more, 0.35 kV or more, 0.36 kV or more, 0.37 kV or more, 0.38 kV or more, 0.39 kV or more, 0.40 kV or more, 0.41 kV or more, 0.42 kV or more, 0.43 kV or more, 0.44 kV or more, 0.45 kV or more, 0.46 kV or more, 0.47 kV or more, 0.48 kV or more, 0.49 kV or more, 0.50 kV or more, 0.51 kV or more, 0.52 kV or more, 0.53 kV or more, 0.54 kV or more, 0.55 kV or more, 0.56 kV or more, 0.57 kV or more, 0.58 kV or more, 0.59 kV or more, 0.60 kV or more, 0.61 kV or more, 0.62 kV or more, 0.63 kV or more, 0.64 kV or more, 0.65 kV or more, 0.66 kV or more, 0.67 kV or more, 0.68 kV or more, 0.69 kV or more, 0.70 kV or more, 0.71 kV or more, 0.72 kV or more, 0.73 kV or more, 0.74 kV or more, 0.75 kV or more, 0.76 kV or more, 0.77 kV or more, 0.78 kV or more, 0.79 kV or more, 0.80 kV or more, 0.81 kV or more, 0.82 kV or more, 0.83 kV or more, 0.84 kV or more, 0.85 kV and above, 0.86 kV or more, 0.87 kV or more, 0.88 kV or more, 0.89 kV or more, 0.90 kV or more, 0.91 kV or more, 0.92 kV or more, 0.93 kV or more, 0.94 kV or more, 0.95 kV or more, 0.96 kV or more, 0.97 kV or more, 0.98 kV or more, or 0.99 kV or more, and the upper limit of the electrostatic value may be 1.35 kV or less, 1.30 kV or less, 1.25 kV or less, 1.20 kV or less, 1.15 kV or less, 1.14 kV or less, 1.13 kV or less, 1.12 kV or less, 1.11 kV or less, 1.10 kV or less, 1.09 kV or less, 1.08 kV or less, It may be 1.07 kV or less, 1.06 kV or less, 1.05 kV or less, 1.04 kV or less, 1.03 kV or less, 1.02 kV or less, 1.01 kV or less, 1.00 kV or less, 0.95 kV or less, 0.90 kV or less, 0.85 kV or less, 0.80 kV or less, 0.75 kV or less, 0.70 kV or less, 0.65 kV or less, 0.60 kV or less, 0.55 kV or less, or 0.50 kV or less.
[0083] If the electrostatic value does not meet the above numerical range, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material deteriorate. Specifically, when an external force (e.g., tensile force) is applied to the lyocell material to spread the lyocell material, the lyocell material may not spread to a uniform thickness and / or width. As a result, the lyocell material may fly off during the manufacturing process of a filter including the lyocell material, and plies may be formed.
[0084] Additionally, if the electrostatic value does not meet the above numerical range, a stronger external force may be required to evenly spread the lyocell material, and the lyocell material may break during the spreading process. As a result, the manufacturing process of the filter containing the lyocell material may be interrupted, resulting in an increase in process costs.
[0085] Meanwhile, if the electrostatic value does not meet the above numerical range, the lyocell material may not be spread out evenly in the width direction. In this case, the uniformity of the filter including the lyocell material may be reduced, and the filtering performance of the filter may be reduced due to the uneven arrangement of the lyocell material. Meanwhile, the lyocell material according to the exemplary embodiment includes an emulsion, and the emulsion may have hydrophobic properties. In addition, detailed information regarding the emulsion follows the description in the present specification. Typically, when a hydrophilic emulsion is used, unlike when a hydrophobic emulsion is used, the generation of static electricity in the lyocell material increases.
[0086] Meanwhile, if the electrostatic value is below the lower limit, more preferably below 0.08 kV, the frictional properties of the lyocell multifilament may be insufficient. As a result, the emulsion may not be sufficiently dispersed in the lyocell multifilament, and lumps may be observed between the emulsions. In addition, during the process of applying crimps to the lyocell multifilament, sufficient friction may not occur between the crimping device and the lyocell multifilament. In addition, a sufficient number of crimps may not be applied to the lyocell multifilament, and the uniformity of the applied crimps may be significantly insufficient.
[0087] However, as demonstrated by exemplary embodiments, by including an emulsion in the lyocell material so that certain conditions are satisfied, the generation of static electricity due to the external environment or external force can be suppressed. For example, by including an emulsion so that the total emulsion content (OPU) satisfies a certain range, the generation of static electricity from the lyocell material can be suppressed even under high-temperature conditions.
[0088] As a result, the manufacturing process of a filter using a lyocell material according to an exemplary embodiment is less subject to environmental constraints related to static electricity generation, and the reproducibility of the manufacturing process of the filter can be improved.
[0089]
[0090] More specifically, the lyocell material comprises crimped lyocell multifilaments; and an emulsion coated on the lyocell multifilaments. The emulsion comprises (a) an ester of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol; and (b) an ester of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms. The emulsion can be applied to part or all of the monofilaments or multifilaments forming the lyocell material. In addition, the emulsion can penetrate between the filaments.
[0091] An emulsion comprising at least the above components (a) and (b) may have hydrophobic properties. Accordingly, the use of the emulsion may control the electrostatic properties of the lyocell surface. As a result, a lyocell material treated with the emulsion has excellent spreading properties.
[0092] In a specific example of the present application, the lyocell material may contain a predetermined amount of the emulsion. In this case, the emulsion content may refer to OPU (wt%), which will be described later. For example, the lyocell material may contain the emulsion in an amount of 0.1 wt% or more, based on 100 wt% of the total lyocell material. Specifically, the lower limit of the content of the emulsion is 0.5 wt% or more, 0.6 wt% or more, 0.7 wt% or more, 0.8 wt% or more, 0.9 wt% or more, 1.0 wt% or more, 1.1 wt% or more, 1.2 wt% or more, 1.3 wt% or more, 1.4 wt% or more, 1.5 wt% or more, 1.6 wt% or more, 1.7 wt% or more, 1.8 wt% or more, 1.9 wt% or more, 2.0 wt% or more, 2.1 wt% or more, 2.2 wt% or more, 2.3 wt% or more, 2.4 wt% or more, 2.5 wt% or more, 2.6 wt% or more, 2.7 wt% or more, 2.8 wt% or more, 2.9 wt% or more, 3.0 wt% or more, 3.1 wt% or more, 3.2 wt% or more, 3.3 wt% or more, 3.4 wt% or more, 3.5 wt% or more, 3.6 wt% or more, 3.7 wt% or more, 3.8 wt% or more, 3.9 wt% or more, 4.0 wt% or more, 4.1 wt% or more, 4.2 wt% or more, 4.3 wt% or more, 4.4 wt% or more, 4.5 wt% or more, 4.6 wt% or more, 4.7 wt% or more, 4.8 wt% or more, 4.9 wt% or more, 5.0 wt% or more, 5.1 wt% or more, 5.2 wt% or more, 5.3 wt% or more, 5.4 wt% or more, 5.5 wt% or more, 5.6 wt% or more, 5.7 wt% or more, 5.8 wt% or more, 5.9 wt% or more, 6.0 wt% or more, 6.1 wt% or more, 6.2 wt% or more, 6.3 wt% or more, 6.4 wt% Above, 6.5 wt% or more, 6.6 wt% or more, 6.7 wt% or more, 6.8 wt% or more, 6.9 wt% or more, 7.0 wt% or more, 7.1 wt% or more, 7.2 wt% or more, 7.It may be 3 wt% or more, 7.4 wt% or more, or 7.5 wt% or more. And, the upper limit is, for example, 20.0 wt% or less, 18.0 wt% or less, 17.0 wt% or less, 16.0 wt% or less, 15.0 wt% or less, 14.5 wt% or less, 14.0 wt% or less, 13.5 wt% or less, 13.0 wt% or less, 12.5 wt% or less, 12.0 wt% or less, 11.5 wt% or less, 11.0 wt% or less, 10.5 wt% or less, 10 wt% or less, 9.5 wt% or less, 9.0 wt% or less, 8.5 wt% or less, 8.0 wt% or less, 7.8 wt% or less, 7.6 wt%, 7.5 wt% or less, 7.4 wt% or less, 7.3 wt% or less, 7.2 wt% or less, 7.1 wt% or less, 7.0 wt% or less, 6.9 wt% Below, 6.8 wt% or less, 6.7 wt% or less, 6.6 wt% or less, 6.5 wt% or less, 6.4 wt% or less, 6.3 wt% or less, 6.2 wt% or less, 6.1 wt% or less, 6.0 wt% or less, 5.9 wt% or less, 5.8 wt% or less, 5.7 wt% or less, 5.6 wt% or less, 5.5 wt% or less, 5.4 wt% or less, 5.3 wt% or less, 5.2 wt% or less, 5.1 wt% or less, 5.0 wt% or less, 4.9 wt% or less, 4.8 wt% or less, 4.7 wt% or less, 4.6 wt% or less, 4.5 wt% or less, 4.4 wt% or less, 4.3 wt% or less, 4.2 wt% or less, 4.1 wt% or less, 4.0 wt% or less, 3.9 wt% or less, 3.8 % by weight or less, 3.7% by weight or less, 3.6% by weight or less, 3.5% by weight or less, 3.4% by weight or less, 3.3% by weight or less, 3.2% by weight or less, 3.1% by weight or less, 3.0% by weight or less, 2.9% by weight or less, 2.8% by weight or less, 2.7% by weight or less, 2.6% by weight or less, 2.5% by weight or less, 2.4% by weight or less, 2.3% by weight or less, 2.2% by weight or less, 2.1% by weight or less, 2.0% by weight or less, 1.It may be 9 wt% or less, 1.8 wt% or less, 1.7 wt% or less, 1.6 wt% or less, 1.5 wt% or less, 1.4 wt% or less, 1.3 wt% or less, 1.2 wt% or less, 1.1 wt% or less, 1.0 wt% or less, 0.9 wt% or less, 0.8 wt% or less, or 0.7 wt% or less.
[0093] As a method for measuring the content (OPU) of the above-mentioned emulsion, for example, an extrusion method can be used. For example, a sample (e.g., 2 to 5 g, specifically, about 2.5 g) is collected (the weight of the collected sample is referred to as the sample weight) and the sample is placed in a syringe-shaped container. The material of the container is not particularly limited, but may be SUS (stainless steel). Next, a solvent (e.g., methanol) is placed in the container into which the sample has been placed (the amount of the solvent placed may be 10 ml or less (e.g., about 8 ml)). The solvent may be placed in a dropping manner when the sample is placed, and the dropping speed is controlled uniformly. Then, the solvent placed in the container as described above is allowed to fall from one end of the syringe-shaped container onto a plate. At this time, the plate is pre-weighed (the weighed weight is referred to as plate weight A), and the plate is installed so that the solvent dropped on the plate can fly away (i.e., evaporate) at a temperature of 120 to 130°C (e.g., 125°C). The above-described solvent injection and solvent dropping are performed three times, and a pressure (e.g., 10 kgf / cm) is applied to the sample using a syringe-shaped container. 2 Below 5 kgf / cm 2 Less than or equal to 2-4 kgf / cm 2) and press the sample once. This sufficiently squeezes out the solvent and emulsion present in the sample. Squeeze the sample by applying pressure until no solvent comes out. Afterwards, store the plate in a desiccator for 5 to 10 minutes, and measure the weight of the plate containing the sample (plate weight B). Then, calculate the emulsion content according to the formula below.
[0094] Food
[0095] Content of emulsion by extrusion (OPU, % or wt%)
[0096] = {(Plate Weight B - Plate Weight A) / (Sample Weight)} x 100
[0097] In addition, the lyocell material that serves as the basis for the above-described emulsion content may be at least an emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament. For example, the lyocell material may be a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment (described below) has been applied, a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment and a secondary emulsion treatment (described below) have been applied, or a lyocell multifilament to which a binder, described below, has been applied in addition to the emulsion treatment described above. In addition, the lyocell multifilament to which an emulsion and / or binder treatment has been applied as described above may be crimped.
[0098] In relation to the emulsion of the present application, component (a) is a compound that can function as a type of lubricant or oil, and is harmless to the human body enough to be used in food. Component (a) provides lubrication to the fibers fed into the crimper. If the lubrication is insufficient, the lyocell may clump together and fail to exit the crimper. If the lubrication is excessively high, crimping may not occur properly. The content of component (a) can be controlled, as described below, taking these functions into account.
[0099] With respect to the above component (a), the type of fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms forming it is not particularly limited. Any fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms that can provide an ester compound that is harmless to the human body and can be used in food can be used.
[0100] For example, fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms may be saturated fatty acids and / or unsaturated fatty acids.
[0101] Saturated fatty acids include, for example, palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 14 COOH), margaric acid (heptadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 15 COOH), stearic acid (octadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 16 COOH), nonadecylic acid (nonadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 17 COOH) or arachidic acid (eicosanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 18 Examples include COOH). However, the types of saturated fatty acids available are not limited to these.
[0102] Unsaturated fatty acids include, for example, palmitoleic acid (CH3(CH2)5CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), oleic acid (CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), and linoleic acid (C 18 H 32 O2) or arachidonic acid (C 20 H 32 O2) etc. However, the types of saturated fatty acids available are not limited to these.
[0103] The upper limit of the carbon number of the fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms is not particularly limited, but may be, for example, 40 or less, 36 or less, 32 or less, 28 or less, 24 or less, or 20 or less.
[0104] With respect to the above component (a), the type of aliphatic monohydric alcohol forming it is not particularly limited. Any aliphatic monohydric alcohol capable of providing an ester compound that is harmless to the human body and suitable for use in food may be used.
[0105] For example, it can be a saturated fatty alcohol or an unsaturated fatty alcohol, and they can have a linear or branched form.
[0106] In one example, the carbon number of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol may be 1 to 40. Specifically, the carbon number of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol may be, for example, 4 or more, 8 or more, 12 or more, 16 or more, or 20 or more.
[0107] Examples of the above-mentioned aliphatic monohydric alcohols include, but are not limited to, methanol, ethanol, butanol, lauryl alcohol, isotridecanol, or stearyl alcohol.
[0108] In a specific example of the present application, an ester of isotridecanol and stearic acid (e.g., isotridecyl stearate) may be used as the component (a). However, the type of component (a) that can be used is not limited thereto.
[0109] As described below, the content of the above-mentioned (a) component included in the emulsion can be adjusted in consideration of the function of the emulsion or the function of the (a) component.
[0110] The above (b) component, i.e., sorbitan and an ester of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms, is a compound that can function as a type of emulsifier and is a component that is harmless to the human body enough to be used in food.
[0111] Since this component (b) has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties due to the polyhydric alcohol (i.e., sorbitan), it enables the component (a), which provides lubrication to the fiber, to be well dispersed in water as described below. In addition, components (a) and (b) used together not only increase the dispersibility of the emulsion as described above, but also lower the melting point, thereby ensuring the usability, handling, and stability of the emulsion. The content of the component (b) can be controlled as described below, taking these functions into consideration.
[0112] With respect to the above component (b), the type of fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms forming it is not particularly limited. Any fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms that can provide an ester compound that is harmless to the human body and can be used in food may be used.
[0113] For example, fatty acids having 16 or more carbon atoms may be saturated fatty acids and / or unsaturated fatty acids.
[0114] Saturated fatty acids include, for example, palmitic acid (hexadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 14 COOH), margaric acid (heptadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 15 COOH), stearic acid (octadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 16 COOH), nonadecylic acid (nonadecanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 17 COOH) or arachidic acid (eicosanoic acid, CH3(CH2) 18 Examples include COOH). However, the types of saturated fatty acids available are not limited to these.
[0115] Unsaturated fatty acids include, for example, palmitoleic acid (CH3(CH2)5CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), oleic acid (CH3(CH2)7CH=CH(CH2)7COOH), and linoleic acid (C 18 H 32 O2) or arachidonic acid (C 20 H 32O2) etc. However, the types of saturated fatty acids available are not limited to these.
[0116] The upper limit of the carbon number of the fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms is not particularly limited, but may be, for example, 40 or less, 36 or less, 32 or less, 28 or less, 24 or less, or 20 or less.
[0117] In a specific example of the present application, an ester of sorbitan and oleic acid (e.g., sorbitan monooleate) may be used as the component (b). However, the types of usable component (b) are not limited thereto.
[0118] (b) The content of the component can be adjusted in consideration of the function of the component (b) and the function of the emulsion as described above.
[0119] In one example, the emulsion may comprise 100 parts by weight of the esterified product of (a) a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (b) 20 to 60 parts by weight of the esterified product of (sorbitan) and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0120] Specifically, the emulsion of the present application may contain the component (b) in an amount of 25 parts by weight or more, 30 parts by weight or more, 35 parts by weight or more, 40 parts by weight or more, 45 parts by weight or more, or 50 parts by weight or more, relative to 100 parts by weight of the component (a). In addition, the upper limit of the content of the component (b) relative to 100 parts by weight of the component (a) may be, for example, 55 parts by weight or less, 50 parts by weight or less, 45 parts by weight or less, 40 parts by weight or less, 35 parts by weight or less, 30 parts by weight or less, or 25 parts by weight or less. When the above content range is satisfied, the surface of the emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament or lyocell tow can have hydrophobicity, and as a result, the electrostatic characteristics measured from the surface of the lyocell tow can be controlled.
[0121] In one example, the emulsion may further comprise an alkylene oxide adduct to component (b) as component (c). This component (c) may function as a type of emulsifier. The compound may also be selected from those that are harmless to the human body and suitable for use in food products.
[0122] With respect to the above component (c), the type of alkylene oxide is not particularly limited, but for example, the number of carbon atoms in the alkylene oxide may be 2 to 4. Specifically, with respect to the above component (c), ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, and / or butylene oxide may be used, but is not limited thereto.
[0123] The number of moles of alkylene oxide added is not particularly limited. For example, it may be 1 to 100, 5 to 80, 10 to 60, or 15 to 40.
[0124] In a specific example of the present application, the component (c) may be a PEO adduct of sorbitan and an esterified product of oleic acid (e.g., polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate). However, the types of usable component (c) are not limited thereto.
[0125] For example, the above-mentioned component (c) can be used to further reduce the electrostatic properties of lyocell fibers during the manufacturing process of filters for smoking articles. Specifically, the alkylene oxide-derived units allow moisture to be adsorbed onto the fiber surface, thereby suppressing the generation of static electricity. Furthermore, component (c) also helps the emulsion disperse effectively in water.
[0126] (c) The content of the component can be adjusted in consideration of the function of the component (c) and the function of the emulsion as described above.
[0127] In one example, the emulsion may include 10 to 50 parts by weight of an alkylene oxide adduct for the (c) esterification (b) relative to 100 parts by weight of the (a) esterification of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol.
[0128] Specifically, the emulsion of the present application may contain 15 parts by weight or more, 20 parts by weight or more, 25 parts by weight or more, 30 parts by weight or more, 35 parts by weight or more, 40 parts by weight or more, or 45 parts by weight or more of the component (c) relative to 100 parts by weight of the component (a). In addition, the upper limit of the content of the component (c) relative to 100 parts by weight of the component (a) may be, for example, 45 parts by weight or less, 40 parts by weight or less, 35 parts by weight or less, 30 parts by weight or less, 25 parts by weight or less, 20 parts by weight or less, or 15 parts by weight or less.
[0129] In one example, the emulsion may comprise (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms in excess of (c) an alkylene oxide adduct to the esterified product (b).
[0130] In one example, the emulsion may include 40 to 80 wt% of (a) an esterified product of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. Specifically, the content of the (a) component may be 45 wt% or more, 50 wt% or more, 55 wt% or more, 60 wt% or more, 65 wt% or more, 70 wt% or more, or 75 wt% or more, based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. And, the upper limit of the content may be, for example, 75 wt% or less, 70 wt% or less, 65 wt% or less, 60 wt% or less, 55 wt% or less, 50 wt% or less, or 45 wt% or less.
[0131] In one example, the emulsion may contain the most excess of component (a) among components (a) to (c).
[0132] In one example, the emulsion may comprise 15 to 55 wt% of (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms, based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. Specifically, the content of the (b) component may be 20 wt% or more, 25 wt% or more, 30 wt% or more, 35 wt% or more, 40 wt% or more, 45 wt% or more, or 50 wt% or more, based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. And the upper limit of the content may be, for example, 50 wt% or less, 45 wt% or less, 40 wt% or less, 35 wt% or less, 30 wt% or less, or 25 wt% or less.
[0133] In one example, the emulsion may contain 10 to 30 wt% of the component (c), i.e., the alkylene oxide adduct for (b), based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. Specifically, the content of the component (c) may be 15 wt% or more, 20 wt% or more, or 25 wt% or more, based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. And the upper limit of the content may be, for example, 25 wt% or less, 20 wt% or less, or 15 wt% or less.
[0134] In one example, the emulsion may include at least 15 wt% of (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms; and (c) an alkylene oxide adduct to (b), based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. Specifically, the total content of the components (b) and (c) may be 20 wt% or more, 25 wt% or more, 30 wt% or more, 35 wt% or more, 40 wt% or more, 45 wt% or more, or 50 wt% or more, based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the emulsion. And the upper limit of the content may be, for example, 55 wt% or less, 50 wt% or less, 45 wt% or less, 40 wt% or less, 35 wt% or less, 30 wt% or less, or 25 wt% or less.
[0135] In one example, the emulsion may further comprise (d) water. As described below, water used in small amounts aids emulsification.
[0136] The content of water is not particularly limited, but may be included as the remainder after excluding the total content of components (a) to (c) from 100 wt% of the entire emulsion. The content of water included in the emulsion (i.e., the remainder after excluding the total content of the remaining components excluding water) may be, for example, 10 wt% or less, 9 wt% or less, 8 wt% or less, 7 wt% or less, 6 wt% or less, 5 wt% or less, 4 wt% or less, 3 wt% or less, 2 wt% or less, or 1 wt% or less. And, the lower limit may be, for example, 0 wt% or more, 0.1 wt% or more, 0.5 wt% or more, or 1 wt% or more.
[0137] The lyocell material of the present application may be crimped tow having a fineness appropriate for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article and ensuring its function. For example, the total fineness of the tow is a factor related to the amount of filaments that can be inserted into the filter paper. If the total fineness is too low, a sufficient amount of filaments cannot be filled into the filter paper, resulting in low suction resistance properties. Furthermore, if the total fineness is too high, the amount filled into the filter paper may be excessive, causing the filter paper to burst or making it difficult to control the amount of tow filled to achieve the suction resistance required for the filter.
[0138] In one example, the single denier of the filaments forming the lyocell multifilament may be 1.5 to 8.0 denier. In this case, the single denier of the filament refers to the fineness of one single monofilament separated from the multifilament.
[0139] Specifically, the single denier of the filament may be, for example, 7.5 denier or less, 7.0 denier or less, 6.5 denier or less, 6.0 denier or less, 5.5 denier or less, 5.0 denier or less, 4.5 denier or less, 3.5 denier or less, or 3.0 denier or less. And, the lower limit may be, for example, 2.0 denier or more, 2.5 denier or more, 3.0 denier or more, 3.5 denier or more, 4.0 denier or more, 4.5 denier or more, 5.0 denier or more, 5.5 denier or more, or 6.0 denier or more. Satisfying the above range may be more advantageous in securing stable physical properties (e.g., hardness or implementation of suction resistance, etc.) and fairness of the filter for smoking articles.
[0140] In one example, the crimped lyocell multifilament may be a crimped tow having a total fineness of 15,000 to 45,000 denier. For example, the lower limit of the total fineness is, for example, 16,000 or more, 16,500 or more, 17,000 or more, 17,500 or more, 18,000 or more, 18,500 or more, 19,000 or more, 19,500 or more, 20,000 or more, 20,500 or more, 21,000 or more, 21,500 or more, 22,000 or more, 22,500 or more, 23,000 or more, 23,500 or more, 24,000 or more, 24,500 or more, 25,000 or more, 25,500 or more, 26,000 or more, 26,500 or more, 27,000 or more, 27,500 or more, 28,000 or more, 28,500 or more, 29,000 or more, 29,500 or more, 30,000 or more, 30,500 or more, 31,000 or more, 31,500 or more, 32,000 or more, 32,500 or more, 33,000 or more, 33,500 or more, 34,000 or more, 34,500 or more, 35,000 or more, 35,500 or more, 36,000 or more, 36,500 or more, 37,000 or more, 37,500 or more, 38,000 or more 38,500 or more, 39,000 or more, 39,500 or more, 40,000 or more 40,500 or more, 41,000 or more, 41,500 or more, It could be 42,000 or more, 42,500 or more, 43,000 or more, 43,500 or more, or 44,000 or more. And, the upper limit is, for example, 44,500 or less, 44,000 or less, 43,500 or less, 43,000 or less, 42,500 or less, 42,000 or less, 41,500 or less, 41,000 or less, 40,500 or less, 40,000 or less, 39,500 or less, 39,000 or less, 38,500 or less, 38,000 or less, 37,500 or less, 37,000 or less, 36,500 or less, 36,000 or less, 35,500 or less, 35,000 or less, 34,500 or less, 34,000 or less, 33,500 or less, 33,000 or less, 32,500 or less, 32,000 or less, 31,500 or less, 31,000 or less, 30,500 or less, 30,000 or less, 29,500 or less, 29,000 or less, 28,500 or less, 28,000 or less, 27,500 or less, 27,000 or less, 26,500 or less, 26,000 or less, 25,500 or less, 25,000 or less, 24,500 or less, 24,000 or less, 23,500 or less, 23,000 or less, 22,500 or less, 22,000 or less, 21,500 or less, 21,000 or less, 20,500 or less, 20,000 or less, 19,500 or less, 19,000 or less, 18,500 or less, It can be 18,000 or less, 17,500 or less, 17,000 or less, 16,500 or less, 16,000 or less, or 15,500 or less. If the total fineness of the tow is outside the above range, the process for manufacturing a filter for smoking articles is not good (continuous process is not possible due to cutting), and when manufacturing a filter for smoking articles, the amount of tow filled in the filter paper is too little or too much, making it difficult to secure sufficient filter properties (e.g., hardness or suction resistance, etc.).
[0141] The method for measuring fineness is not particularly limited, but for example, take a 2 m sample of the tow to be measured, leave it in a room that is kept at a constant temperature and humidity of 20℃ and 65%, and stabilize it for 24 hours. Fix one end of the stabilized tow, and attach a weight with a load of 2 kg to the other end. After maintaining (stabilizing) the tow in a state of being extended by the load for 5 seconds, cut it into 90 cm to obtain a sample, and measure the weight of the sample (total fineness). The fineness is converted into the measured weight Х 10000 according to the denier conversion method. The single fineness is calculated by dividing the total fineness by the number of filament strands.
[0142] The total fineness of the tow as described above can be determined by the single filament fineness and the number of crimps. Since the single filament fineness and the number of crimps are controlled as described above in the present application method, the total fineness of the tow as described above can be secured, which is suitable for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article and ensuring its function.
[0143] In one example, the crimped lyocell multifilament may have 20 to 50 crimps per inch. For example, the number of crimps may be 25 ea / inch or more, 30 ea / inch or more, 35 ea / inch or more, 40 ea / inch or more, or 45 ea / inch or more, and the upper limit may be, for example, 45 ea / inch or less, 40 ea / inch or less, 35 ea / inch or less, 30 ea / inch or less, or 25 ea / inch or less. The number of crimps and their uniformity may be controlled through pressure and temperature conditions, etc., related to the crimping step described below.
[0144] Although not particularly limited, the number of crimps can be measured, for example, according to KS K 0326. Specifically, take a 20-thread tow sample with intact crimps, attach a previously prepared glossy paper piece (25 mm spacing) with 4 to 5% celluloid amyl acetate adhesive, one single fiber at a time, so that the length is extended by 25±5% of the attachment length, and then leave it to dry the adhesive. Then, using a crimp tester, apply an initial load equivalent to 1.96 / 1000 cN (= 2 mgf) per 1 De to each thread, and measure the number of crimps within 25 mm. At this time, the number of crimps can be expressed as the upper and lower limits of the number of crimps measured for 20 threads. Alternatively, the number of crimps can be expressed as the arithmetic mean value for the number of crimps measured for 20 threads.
[0145] Although not particularly limited, the lyocell material manufactured as described above can be used in a filter for smoking articles.
[0146] In one example, the lyocell material may further comprise a binder. The binder may be present, for example, on the surface of the crimped lyocell multifilaments or between the crimped lyocell multifilaments (or monofilaments). The binder can increase the hardness of the filter for a smoking article manufactured from tow, thereby preventing problems such as filter jamming during the filter manufacturing process or the manufacturing process of a smoking article (e.g., cigarette).
[0147] The type of binder available is not particularly limited, and any known binder may be used as long as it does not impede the purpose of the present invention. For example, a binder that provides sufficient compatibility with the emulsion used in the present application, improves the hardness of the filter, and provides excellent bonding strength may be used.
[0148] In one example, the binder may include a polyester-based binder, a cellulose-based binder, and / or a vinyl-based binder.
[0149] Although not particularly limited, a polyester binder including at least one selected from the group consisting of alkylene, arylene, and heteroarylene having 5 to 12 carbon atoms may be used as the polyester binder.
[0150] Examples of cellulose-based binders that can be used include, but are not limited to, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC), ethylcellulose (EC), and / or methylcellulose (MC), carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), etc.
[0151] Examples of vinyl binders that can be used include, but are not limited to, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), and / or ethylene vinyl acetate (EVAc).
[0152] The method of applying (coating) the above binder to the lyocell material is described below.
[0153]
[0154] In another example of the present application, the present application relates to a method for producing lyocell material. Through this method, the lyocell material for a smoking article filter described above can be produced.
[0155] In addition, since the emulsion of the present application has high compatibility with a binder, it can implement properties (e.g., hardness or suction resistance) required in various smoking articles (e.g., cigarettes).
[0156] Specifically, the method for manufacturing the lyocell material includes the steps of emulsifying lyocell multifilaments; and the step of imparting crimp to the lyocell multifilaments. In addition, the emulsion includes at least (a) an esterified product of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0157] The above-described emulsion treatment can be performed, for example, by spraying the emulsion of the above-described composition onto lyocell filaments or immersing the lyocell filaments in the emulsion. The method of the present application including the emulsion treatment can be performed so that the content of the emulsion in the lyocell material (e.g., OPU (wt%)) satisfies a predetermined range described below.
[0158] Additionally, the crimping step may be performed, for example, by applying steam and / or pressure to the lyocell multifilament.
[0159] The description of the milk components is the same as described above, so it is omitted.
[0160] Hereinafter, a method for manufacturing lyocell material according to the present application, including a milk treatment step and a crimping step, will be described in more detail. The method of the present application may be performed by including one or more of the steps described below.
[0161] Lyocell dope spinning stage (a)
[0162] This step is a step of spinning a lyocell spinning dope containing lyocell cellulose (or cellulose pulp) and N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO).
[0163] Commercially available cellulose acetate filters are identified as a major source of microplastics. However, the amine oxide solvents used in the production of lyocell fibers are recyclable and biodegrade upon disposal, and lyocell materials do not generate any pollutants during the production process. Furthermore, lyocell tow biodegrades and is removed within a relatively short period of time, making lyocell a more environmentally friendly material than cellulose acetate.
[0164] In one example, the content of cellulose in the spinning dope may be 5 to 15 wt% based on 100 wt% of the total weight of the dope. If the content of cellulose is too low, it is difficult to implement the characteristics of lyocell fibers, and if the content exceeds the above range, it is difficult to dissolve in a solvent. Considering this, the content of cellulose in the spinning dope may be 6 wt% or more, 7 wt% or more, 8 wt% or more, 9 wt% or more, or 10 wt% or more, and the upper limit thereof may be, for example, 14 wt% or less, 13 wt% or less, 12 wt% or less, 11 wt% or less, 10 wt% or less, or 9 wt% or less.
[0165] In one example, the radiation dope may include an N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) aqueous solution. The aqueous solution may include, for example, 80 to 95 wt% of N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide and 5 to 20 wt% of water, taking into account the degree of dissolution of cellulose and the process temperature.
[0166] In one example, the cellulose or cellulose pulp may have an alpha-cellulose content of 85 to 97 wt% relative to 100 wt% of total cellulose.
[0167] Additionally, in a specific example of the present application, the degree of polymerization (DPw) of the cellulose may be 600 to 1700.
[0168] In the above-mentioned radiation step, the shape of the detention device for discharging the radiation dope is not particularly limited. For example, a donut-shaped radiation detention device may be used.
[0169] The nozzle temperature of the spinneret, specifically the spin temperature, can be appropriately selected by those skilled in the art. Considering that the viscosity of the spinneret may vary depending on the spin temperature, which may impede ejection, the spin temperature may be, for example, between 100°C and 120°C or lower, or between 100°C and 110°C or lower.
[0170] In one example, the step of spinning the above-described spinning dope may be performed under controlled spinning conditions so that the single denier of the filament can be 1.5 denier to 8.0 denier or less. For example, one or more spinning conditions among the discharge amount and spinning speed of the above-described spinning dope may be appropriately controlled so that the single denier of the filament forming the lyocell material can satisfy 1.5 to 8.0 denier. In this case, the single denier of the filament refers to the single denier of a single monofilament separated from a multifilament.
[0171] Specifically, the single denier of the filament may be, for example, 7.5 denier or less, 7.0 denier or less, 6.5 denier or less, 6.0 denier or less, 5.5 denier or less, 5.0 denier or less, or 4.5 denier or less. Satisfying the above range may be more advantageous in implementing stable suction resistance and ensuring fairness of a filter for smoking articles.
[0172] The radiation dope discharged through the radiation detention can go through the coagulation step described below.
[0173] Coagulation and multifilament production step (b)
[0174] In this step, the radiated lyocell radiant dope is coagulated, and lyocell multifilament can be obtained.
[0175] The above coagulation may be carried out in a manner in which the radiation dope comes into contact with air and / or a coagulating liquid.
[0176] In one example, the solidification may include a first solidification step of supplying cooling air to the radiated lyocell dope; and a second solidification step of introducing the first-solidified radiated dope into a solidification solution to solidify it.
[0177] According to the above-described solidification method, the lyocell dope discharged from the spinneret can be primarily solidified in the space (air gap section) between the spinneret and the solidification tank. For example, cooling air can be supplied from the inside of the spinneret to the outside of the spinneret from an air-cooling unit located inside the spinneret to the inside of the spinneret. Alternatively, primary solidification can be achieved by a so-called air quenching method or method known in the relevant field.
[0178] In one example, the upper temperature limit of the cooling air used for primary solidification may be, for example, 15°C or lower. Specifically, the cooling air may be air having a temperature of 14°C or lower, 13°C or lower, 12°C or lower, 11°C or lower, or 10°C or lower. If the temperature exceeds the temperature, the solidification of the radiation dope by the air is not sufficient, and the radiation-related processability is poor.
[0179] The lower limit of the cooling air temperature may be determined by considering factors such as the spinning processability and / or the cross-sectional uniformity of the filament. For example, if the temperature of the cooling air is below 4°C, the surface of the spinneret cools, the surface of the filament becomes uneven, and the spinning processability also deteriorates. Considering this, the cooling air temperature may be 5°C or higher, 6°C or higher, 7°C or higher, 8°C or higher, or 9°C or higher.
[0180] The degree to which the cooling air is supplied can be controlled taking into account sufficient coagulation, spinning processability, and the influence on the physical properties of the filament. For example, 70 to 300 Nm 3 / h can be supplied to the radiation dope derived from the air volume. More specifically, the air volume is 100 Nm 3 / h or more or 150 Nm 3 / h or more, and the upper limit of the airflow is, for example, 250 Nm 3 / h or less or 200 Nm 3 / h can be less than or equal to.
[0181] After the primary coagulation as described above, the cooled spinning dope can be supplied to a coagulation tank or bath containing a coagulating solution (secondary coagulation). For proper coagulation, the temperature of the coagulating solution can be, for example, 30°C or lower or 25°C or lower. Furthermore, the temperature of the coagulating solution can be 10°C or higher, 15°C or higher, or 20°C or higher. Maintaining the temperature above allows for an appropriate coagulation rate to be maintained.
[0182] The type of coagulant for the secondary coagulation described above is not particularly limited. For example, the coagulant may contain one or more of water and N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO).
[0183] Although not particularly limited, when the coagulant contains water and NMMO, the water content in the coagulant may be 60 to 90 wt% and the NMMO content may be 10 to 40 wt%. Alternatively, the coagulant may contain 70 to 80 wt% of water and 20 to 30 wt% of NMMO. The concentration of the coagulant may be controlled to be maintained during the manufacturing process using a sensor or the like.
[0184] Washing stage (c)
[0185] If necessary, the multifilaments may be washed after the coagulation and multifilament stages described above. This washing may remove any remaining NMMO and / or other impurities within the filaments.
[0186] There are no specific restrictions on how the washing process is performed. For example, washing can be accomplished by introducing the coagulated lyocell multifilament into the washing tank using a traction roller. Alternatively, washing can be accomplished by spraying the washing solution as the traction roller moves the lyocell multifilament to the next stage.
[0187] The components of the washing liquid are not particularly limited. For example, the washing liquid may contain water and may also contain known additives.
[0188] In addition, considering reuse after washing, etc., the washing liquid may be used at a temperature adjusted to 100°C or lower.
[0189] Milk processing stage (d)
[0190] This step involves applying the emulsion containing the aforementioned ingredients to the surface of the filament. This emulsion treatment reduces friction on the filament and facilitates crimp formation in the crimp application step described below. If the emulsion treatment is performed two or more times, as described below, it may be referred to as the first emulsion treatment or the second emulsion treatment, depending on the order of application.
[0191] Although not specifically limited, the emulsion treatment may be performed by immersing the multifilament in a bath filled with emulsion so that the multifilament is completely submerged in the emulsion. Alternatively, the emulsion treatment may be performed by spraying the emulsion liquid while the multifilament is being moved to the next stage by a traction roller.
[0192] In order to ensure that the amount of emulsion applied to the multifilament after the emulsion treatment as described above is constant, an additional process may be performed in which a roll, etc. positioned before and / or after the emulsion treatment step squeezes out the emulsion from the surface of the multifilament.
[0193] In one example, the emulsion treatment may be performed so that the oil content (OPU: oil pick up ratio (wt%)) satisfies 2.0 wt% or more based on at least 100 wt% of the emulsion-treated multifilament. At this time, the multifilament that has been treated with at least an emulsion may be, for example, a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment has been applied, a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment and a secondary emulsion treatment (see the description below) have been applied, or a lyocell multifilament to which a binder, which will be described later, has been applied together with the emulsion treatment as described above. In addition, the lyocell multifilament to which the emulsion and / or binder treatment as described above has been applied may have crimping.
[0194] Specifically, the content of the emulsion in the multifilament treated with the emulsion may be 0.5 wt% or more, 0.6 wt% or more, 0.62 wt% or more, 1.0 wt% or more, 1.5 wt% or more, 2.0 wt% or more, 2.5 wt% or more, 3.0 wt% or more, specifically 3.5 wt% or more, 4.0 wt% or more, 4.2 wt% or more, 4.5 wt% or more, 5.0 wt% or more, 5.5 wt% or more, 6.0 wt% or more, 6.5 wt% or more, 7.0 wt% or more, 7.5 wt% or more, 8.0 wt% or more, 8.5 wt% or more, 9.0 wt% or more, or 9.5 wt% or more. And, the upper limit can be, for example, 20.0 wt% or less, 18.0 wt% or less, 17.0 wt% or less, 16.0 wt% or less, 15.0 wt% or less, 14.5 wt% or less, 14.0 wt% or less, 13.5 wt% or less, 13.0 wt% or less, 12.5 wt% or less, 12.0 wt% or less, 11.5 wt% or less, 11.0 wt% or less, 10.5 wt% or less, 10 wt% or less, 9.5 wt% or less, 9.0 wt% or less, 8.5 wt% or less, 8.0 wt% or less, 7.8 wt% or less, 7.6 wt% or less, 7.5 wt% or less, 7.0 wt% or less, or 6.5 wt% or less. At this time, the above content may mean the dry weight after the solvent (e.g., water) or liquid component that may be included in the emulsion has evaporated.
[0195] Based on 100 wt% of the multifilament treated with the emulsion, the content of the emulsion (OPU: oil pick up ratio (wt%)) may be 0.6 wt% to 7.5 wt%, may be 0.62 wt% to 7.5 wt%, may be preferably 4.5 wt% to 7.0 wt%, and may be more preferably 4.9% to 6.0 wt%.
[0196] When the emulsion of the above-described composition is processed within the above content range, the hydrophilic properties of the lyocell material can be supplemented, and the electrostatic properties measured from the lyocell material can be controlled as described below.
[0197] In some cases, drying of the emulsion may be performed after the emulsion treatment as described above.
[0198] In a specific example of the present application, one or more of the steps described above may be controlled so that the single denier of the filaments forming the lyocell multifilament can be from 1.5 to 8.0 denier. The single denier of the filaments refers to the fineness of one single monofilament separated from the multifilament.
[0199] Specifically, the single denier of the filament may be, for example, 7.5 denier or less, 7.0 denier or less, 6.5 denier or less, 6.0 denier or less, 5.5 denier or less, 5.0 denier or less, or 4.5 denier or less. Satisfying the above range may be more advantageous in implementing stable suction resistance and ensuring fairness of a filter for smoking articles.
[0200] Although not specifically limited, the step controlled to ensure the above-described single-fiber range may be the above-described spinning step. Alternatively, the above-described spinning, coagulation, washing, and emulsion treatment steps may all be controlled to ensure the above-described single-fiber range.
[0201] Crimping step (e)
[0202] The crimping step is a step in which pressure is applied to the emulsion-treated lyocell multifilament by steam and / or a roller to obtain a crimped tow, and may be referred to as a crimping step.
[0203] Crimping can impart waves to multifilaments and give the fibers bulky characteristics. Crimping can be performed using any known crimping device, such as a stuffer box and / or a steam box. The available crimping devices are not particularly limited, as long as they can apply steam pressure and roll pressure, as described below.
[0204] In one example, the crimping step may be performed by first supplying steam to the lyocell multifilament to preheat and swell the multifilament, and then pressing the multifilament with a press roller to form wrinkles in the multifilament. In this case, a steam box may be used for supplying the steam, and the steam box may be located upstream of the crimping device.
[0205] In one example, the crimping step may be performed in such a way that multifilament pressurization and steam application by a press roller are performed simultaneously.
[0206] In one example, the crimping step may be performed by first supplying steam to the lyocell multifilament to preheat and swell the multifilament, and then simultaneously applying pressure and steam to the multifilament by a press roller.
[0207] In one example, the crimping step applies 0.1 to 2.0 kgf / cm to the multifilament before feeding it into the crimping device (specifically, the press roller). 2 It can be performed while applying steam. In the specific example of the present application, 0.2 kgf / cm2 Above, 0.3 kgf / cm 2 Above, 0.4 kgf / cm 2 Above, 0.5 kgf / cm 2 or more than 0.6 kgf / cm 2 The above steam can be provided by a steam box. Also, 1.5 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.4 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.3 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.2 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.1 kgf / cm 2 Less than or equal to 1.0 kgf / cm 2 The following steam may be provided. If the steam supply or pressure falls below the above-mentioned range, the crimp may not form smoothly. Furthermore, if it exceeds the above-mentioned range, the flexibility of the filament may increase, resulting in excessive crimping within the crimping device, preventing the filament from passing through the crimping device.
[0208] In one example, the crimping step applies 1.5 to 4.0 kgf / cm to the multifilament fed into the crimping device using a roller. 2 It can be performed while applying a pressure of 1.6 kgf / cm. In a specific example of the present application, 2 Above, 1.7 kgf / cm 2 Above, 1.8 kgf / cm 2 Above, 1.9 kgf / cm 2 Above, 2.0 kgf / cm 2 Above, 2.1 kgf / cm 2 Above, 2.2 kgf / cm 2 Above, 2.3 kgf / cm 2 Above, 2.4 kgf / cm 2 or more than 2.5 kgf / cm 2 The above pressure can be applied to the multifilament through the press roller. Also, 3.9 kgf / cm 2 Below, 3.8 kgf / cm2 Below, 3.7 kgf / cm 2 Below, 3.6 kgf / cm 2 Below 3.5 kgf / cm 2 Below, 3.4 kgf / cm 2 Below, 3.3 kgf / cm 2 Below, 3.2 kgf / cm 2 Below, 3.1 kgf / cm 2 Below 3.0 kgf / cm 2 Below, 2.9 kgf / cm 2 Below, 2.8 kgf / cm 2 Below, 2.7 kgf / cm 2 Below, 2.6 kgf / cm 2 Less than or equal to 2.5 kgf / cm 2 The following pressures may be applied. The pressure of the roller is within the above range. If the pressure is less than the above range, the desired number of crimps may not be sufficiently formed. Furthermore, if the roller pressure exceeds the above range, the pressing force may be too strong, preventing the filament from being smoothly fed into the crimping device or passing through the stuffer box. Wrinkles may form in the multifilament due to the press roller providing the above pressure.
[0209] In one example, the crimping step may employ a doctor blade that applies a predetermined pressure to the multifilament. The doctor blade controls the residence time of the filaments fed into the crimper stuffer box, thereby contributing to the number of crimps (which affects the quality of the tow and filter performance). Such a doctor blade may be positioned, for example, in the path of the multifilaments as they are pressed by the rollers described above and then discharged from the roller pressure point.
[0210] In a specific example of the present application, the crimping step applies 0.1 to 2.0 kgf / cm to the multifilament that has passed through the roller of the crimping device using a doctor blade. 2can be performed while applying pressure of . More specifically, the pressure applied by the doctor blade is 0.2 kgf / cm 2 Above, 0.3 kgf / cm 2 Above, 0.4 kgf / cm 2 or more than 0.5 kgf / cm 2 It can be ideal. Also, the upper limit of the above pressure is, for example, 1.5 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.4 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.3 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.2 kgf / cm 2 Below, 1.1 kgf / cm 2 Less than or equal to 1.0 kgf / cm 2 It could be as follows:
[0211] In one example, the crimping step may be performed at a temperature ranging from 120 to 250°C. If the temperature is too low, the shape stabilization effect of the crimp is not good, and if the temperature is too high, the concentration of the oil content in the stuffer box may increase, making crimp formation difficult. Therefore, considering the steam pressure described above, etc., the temperature may be appropriately controlled in a range of 130°C or higher, 140°C or higher, or 150°C or higher, and 200°C or lower, 180°C or lower, or 160°C or lower.
[0212] Binder processing step (f)
[0213] In one example, the method may further comprise a step of coating a binder on the lyocell multifilaments obtained by the emulsified lyocell multifilaments or the crimping step (i.e., crimped tow).
[0214] When manufacturing filters for tobacco products, a binder is used. This binder increases the hardness of the tobacco filter, preventing problems such as filter jamming during the filter manufacturing process or cigarette manufacturing.
[0215] There are no specific restrictions on the method for coating the lyocell crimped tow with binder. For example, the emulsion treatment may be performed by immersing the crimped tow in a binder (or binder solution) bath so that the multifilaments are completely immersed in the binder. Alternatively, the binder coating may be performed by spraying (or spraying) the binder (or binder solution) through a nozzle.
[0216] The types and components of available binders are as described above, so they are omitted.
[0217] In one example, the binder (or binder solution) may further include a solvent in addition to the above-described components. The solvent may include, but is not limited to, water, ethanol, propylene glycol, and / or glycerin, for example. When the binder (or binder solution) includes a solvent, the solvent content may be, for example, about 20 to 80 wt% or about 40 to 60 wt% based on 100 wt% of the total binder (or binder solution).
[0218] The above binder treatment may be performed at a level that can achieve the purpose of the above-described binder treatment. For example, the binder treatment may be performed so that the binder content satisfies a range of 20 wt% or less, for example, 8 to 15 wt%, based on 100 wt% of the emulsion and binder-treated multifilament. In this case, the content may refer to the dry weight after the solvent or liquid component that may be included in the binder has evaporated.
[0219] After the binder is coated on the crimp tow, drying of the binder may be performed. The drying temperature is not particularly limited, but drying may be performed at room temperature (approximately 10 to 35°C), for example.
[0220] Other steps (g)
[0221] After crimping, additional appropriate post-processing may be performed.
[0222] In one example, a secondary emulsion treatment (g1) may be additionally performed. The secondary emulsion treatment may prevent static electricity from forming on the tow and provide flexibility to the tow. The secondary emulsion treatment may be performed in the same manner as or in accordance with the emulsion treatment step (d) described above.
[0223] Specifically, secondary emulsion treatment can be performed by applying an emulsion to lyocell tow that has undergone a crimper process. This can be advantageous in various processes performed during the manufacturing of filters for smoking articles. For example, secondary emulsion treatment not only ensures that the fibers and filter can be easily spread in air during the spreading process, but also prevents fiber breakage during the drawing process by holding the lyocell together with the emulsion chains. To realize these advantages, it is necessary to use a fatty acid-derived component having a carbon number greater than a predetermined number, as described above.
[0224] The secondary emulsion treatment described above may be performed before or after the binder treatment. Alternatively, the secondary emulsion treatment may be performed regardless of whether the binder treatment is performed.
[0225] Even in cases where the secondary emulsion treatment as described above is performed, the secondary emulsion treatment process can be performed so that the content of the emulsion or OPU content in the material satisfies the range described above.
[0226] In one example, a drying process (g2) may be additionally performed. This drying process may be performed, for example, at a temperature ranging from 100 to 130°C. The drying process method or method is not particularly limited, and any known technique may be utilized. For example, this may be accomplished by applying hot air to the tow, passing the tow through a temperature-controlled room for a set period of time, or leaving the tow in that room.
[0227] According to a specific example of the present application, a tow having 20 to 50 crimps per inch can be provided by a method including the crimping process as described above. For example, the number of crimps can be 25 ea / inch or more, 30 ea / inch or more, 35 ea / inch or more, 40 ea / inch or more, or 45 ea / inch or more, and the upper limit can be, for example, 45 ea / inch or less, 40 ea / inch or less, 35 ea / inch or less, 30 ea / inch or less, or 25 ea / inch or less. The number of crimps and their uniformity can be controlled through the pressure and temperature conditions, etc., related to the crimping step described above.
[0228] The manufacturing method of the present application can provide tow with a fineness appropriate for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article and ensuring its function. The total fineness of the tow is a factor related to the amount of filament that can be inserted into the filter paper. If the total fineness is too low, a sufficient amount of filament is not filled into the filter paper, resulting in low suction resistance properties. Furthermore, if the total fineness is too high, the amount filled into the filter paper becomes too large, causing the filter paper to burst or making it difficult to control the amount of tow filled to achieve the suction resistance required for the filter. In this regard, according to a specific example of the present application, crimped tow having a total fineness of 15,000 to 45,000 denier can be provided. For example, the lower limit of the total fineness may be, for example, 16,000 or more, 17,000 or more, 18,000 or more, 19,000 or more, or 20,000 or more, and the upper limit may be, for example, 40,000 or less, 35,000 or less, 30,000 or less, or 25,000 or less. More specific values are as described above. If the total fineness of the tow is out of the above range, the process for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article is not good (continuous process is not possible due to cutting), and when manufacturing a filter for a smoking article, the amount of tow filled in the filter paper is too little or too much, making it difficult to secure sufficient filter properties (e.g., suction resistance).
[0229] The total fineness of the tow as described above can be determined by the single filament fineness and the number of crimps. Since the single filament fineness and the number of crimps are controlled as described above in the present application method, the total fineness of the tow as described above can be secured, which is suitable for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article and ensuring its function.
[0230] Although not particularly limited, the lyocell material manufactured by the above method can be used in a filter for a smoking article.
[0231]
[0232] In another example of the present application, the present application relates to a filter for a smoking article. The filter for the smoking article comprises a lyocell material, and the lyocell material may be the same as described above.
[0233] Specifically, the filter for a smoking article of the present application is a filter for a smoking article comprising a lyocell material, wherein the lyocell material comprises crimped lyocell multifilaments; and an emulsion coated on the lyocell multifilaments. In addition, the emulsion comprises at least (a) an esterified product of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0234] In addition, the lyocell material includes the emulsion in an amount of 0.1 wt% or more relative to 100 wt% of the total lyocell material. In addition, the description of the emulsion components and content according to the specific example of the present application is the same as described above.
[0235] In one example, the single denier of the filaments forming the lyocell multifilament may be 1.5 to 8.0 denier. The specific values are the same as those described above.
[0236] In one example, the crimped lyocell multifilament may be a crimped tow having a total fineness of 15,000 to 45,000 denier. The specific values are the same as described above.
[0237] In one example, the crimped lyocell multifilament may have 20 to 50 crimps per inch. The specific figures are the same as those described above.
[0238] In one example, the above-described smoking article filter may further include a binder on the surface of the crimped lyocell multifilament or between the crimped lyocell multifilaments. The binder increases the hardness of the tow-made smoking article filter, thereby preventing problems such as filter jamming during the filter manufacturing process or cigarette manufacturing process. The description of the types, components, and contents of usable binders is the same as described above.
[0239] In one example, the filter for the smoking article may further comprise a wrapping paper (which may be referred to as a wrapping paper, a filter paper, or a filter wrapping paper). For example, the wrapping paper may be a porous paper or a non-porous paper that wraps the lyocell tow (i.e., at least emulsified and crimped tow) described above and is capable of maintaining the filter shape (e.g., a cylinder or a cylindrical shape).
[0240] In one example, when a porous paper is used, the paper may have a porosity of 10 to 50,000 CU (Coresta Unit). Specifically, the lower limit of the porosity of the paper may be, for example, 1000 CU or more, 5000 CU or more, 10000 CU or more, 15000 CU or more, 20000 CU or more, 25000 CU or more, 30000 CU or more, 35000 CU or more, 40000 CU or more, or 45000 CU or more, and the upper limit may be, for example, 45000 CU or less, 40000 CU or less, 35000 CU or less, 30000 CU or less, 25000 CU or less, or 20000 CU or less. In a specific example of the present application, the paper may have a porosity within a range of 22,000 to 26,000 CU or 23,000 to 25,000 CU.
[0241] In one example, the weight of the above paper is 15 to 60 g / cm 2 It can be. Specifically, the lower limit of the basis weight of the above-mentioned paper is, for example, 20 g / cm2 Above, 25 g / cm 2 Above, 30 g / cm 2 Above, 35 g / cm 2 Above, 40 g / cm 2 Above, 45 g / cm 2 Above, 50 g / cm 2 or more than 55 g / cm 2 It can be ideal, and the upper limit is, for example, 55 g / cm 2 Below 50 g / cm 2 Below 45 g / cm 2 Below 40 g / cm 2 Below 35 g / cm 2 Below 30 g / cm 2 Below 25 g / cm 2 Less than or equal to 20 g / cm 2 It may be less than or equal to 16 g / cm. In a specific example of the present application, the paper has a thickness of 16 g / cm. 2 Above, 17 g / cm 2 Above, 18 g / cm 2 Above, 19 g / cm 2 Above, 20 g / cm 2 or more than 21 g / cm 2 Above, and 25 g / cm 2 Below, 24 g / cm 2 Below, 23 g / cm 2 Below, 22 g / cm 2 Less than or equal to 21 g / cm 2 It can have the following weights:

[0243] For example, the filter may have a rod shape. More specifically, the filter for the smoking article may have a cylindrical shape.
[0244] Additionally, the filter may have a length of, for example, 10 to 50 mm. Specifically, the length of the filter may have a lower limit of 15 mm or more, 20 mm or more, 25 mm or more, 30 mm or more, 35 mm or more, 40 mm or more, or 45 mm or more, and an upper limit of 45 mm or less, 40 mm or less, 35 mm or less, 30 mm or less, 25 mm or less, 20 mm or less, or 15 mm or less.
[0245] In a specific example of the present application, the filter having the above length may have a circular cross-section, and the circumference of the circular cross-section may be 10 to 40 mm. [0256]
[0257] In another example of the present application, the present application relates to a method for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article. The method may be a method for manufacturing a lyocell smoking article filter as described above, including the method for manufacturing the lyocell material described above.
[0258] Specifically, the method for manufacturing a filter for a smoking article according to the present application may include the steps of: subjecting lyocell multifilament to a lubricant treatment; applying crimp to the lyocell multifilament; and using the crimped lyocell multifilament to manufacture a filter.
[0259] And, in the above method, the emulsion treated on the multifilament includes (a) an esterified product of a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (b) an esterified product of sorbitan and a fatty acid having 16 or more carbon atoms.
[0260] In addition, according to a specific example of the present application, the lyocell multifilament included in the filter for the smoking article includes the emulsion in an amount of 0.1 wt% or more based on 100 wt% of the total lyocell multifilament. At this time, the lyocell multifilament included in the filter for the smoking article is a multifilament that has been treated with at least an emulsion, and for example, the lyocell material may be a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment has been applied, a lyocell multifilament to which a primary emulsion treatment and a secondary emulsion treatment have been applied, or a lyocell multifilament to which a binder described below has been applied in addition to the emulsion treatment as described above. In addition, the lyocell multifilament to which the emulsion and / or binder treatment has been applied as described above may be crimped. Specific figures regarding the content of the emulsion are as described above.
[0261] Regarding the manufacturing method for a filter for smoking articles, the remaining steps, excluding the filter manufacturing step, are identical to those described for the lyocell material described above, and therefore, their description is omitted. Any descriptions that overlap with those described above are also omitted.
[0262] The steps for manufacturing a filter can be appropriately performed by those skilled in the art according to known methods. For example, a filter can be manufactured by forming a tow-filled paper into a rod shape. Alternatively, a filter can be manufactured by cutting a rod-shaped tow-filled filter paper into an appropriate length. The description of the paper is as described above.
[0263] Although not specifically restricted, prior to filling the filter paper with tow, additional treatment with an opening agent or plasticizer may be performed on the tow.

[0265] In another specific example of the present application, the present application relates to a smoking article comprising lyocell material. The lyocell material has the same composition and / or characteristics as described above, and a detailed description thereof is omitted.
[0266]
[0267] In another specific example of the present application, the present application relates to a smoking article comprising a filter for a smoking article. The filter for the smoking article has the same configuration and / or characteristics as described above, and a detailed description thereof is omitted.
[0268]
[0269] In another example of the present application, the present application relates to an emulsion that can be applied (e.g., coated) to lyocell tow. The emulsion of the present application can overcome the hydrophilicity of the surface of lyocell material for a smoking article filter, and can control the electrostatic properties of the surface of the lyocell material.

[0271] A detailed description of each ingredient included in the milk is omitted as it is the same as described above.
[0272]
[0273] Friction method
[0274] In the exemplary lyocell material for a smoking article filter, the electrostatic value can be measured by the friction method. The friction method can be a method for measuring static electricity generated from the lyocell material by friction. Based on the electrostatic value measured by the friction method, the properties of the lyocell material, such as spreading properties, can be predicted, and whether the lyocell material can be used suitably for the manufacture of a filter can be predicted.
[0275] For example, the friction process can be performed immediately after the lyocell material is manufactured, or after the lyocell material has undergone a pretreatment process. Specifically, the friction process can be performed after the lyocell material has dried for a certain period of time. Additionally, the friction process can be performed after the lyocell material has been exposed to certain temperature and humidity conditions for a certain period of time.
[0276] For example, lyocell materials can be dried for more than one hour at temperatures above 100°C. Additionally, lyocell materials can be exposed for more than one hour at temperatures above 20°C. Lyocell materials can be exposed for more than one hour at humidity levels above 35%RH.
[0277] Therefore, in one example, the friction method may be a method for measuring static electricity generated from dried lyocell material. Furthermore, the friction method may be a method for measuring static electricity generated under temperature conditions of approximately 21°C. Furthermore, the friction method may be a method for measuring static electricity generated under humidity conditions of approximately 35% RH.
[0278] Meanwhile, friction for generating static electricity can occur under conditions where at least a portion of the lyocell material is pressurized. Furthermore, in a non-limiting example, the pressurization of the lyocell material can be accomplished by the load of the wear wheel. For example, the load applied to at least a portion of the lyocell material can be about 200 g to about 300 g, and specifically, about 250 g.
[0279] For example, the wear wheel may be an elastic wear wheel. Furthermore, the number of wear particles per unit area of the wear wheel may be about 1,400 to about 1,500. As an example of the wear wheel, Taber's CS10 may be considered.
[0280] Meanwhile, friction between the lyocell material and the wear wheel may be generated by rotation of the lyocell material or may be generated by rotation of the wear wheel. In addition, the lyocell material or the wear wheel may be rotated at about 40 cycles / min to about 80 cycles / min. Specifically, the lyocell material or the wear wheel may be rotated at about 60 cycles / min. Friction may be generated between the lyocell material and the wear wheel by rotation of the lyocell material and / or rotation of the wear wheel. In addition, static electricity may be induced and measured on the surface of the lyocell material by friction.
[0281] Meanwhile, the static electricity generated immediately after the lyocell material or wear wheel has rotated about 5 to about 50 times can be measured. Specifically, the static electricity can be measured immediately after the lyocell material or wear wheel has rotated about 10 to about 30 times.
[0282] Meanwhile, the static electricity of the lyocell material is measured by a static electricity meter, and the static electricity meter can be spaced apart from the lyocell material. Specifically, the static electricity meter can be placed on one surface of the lyocell material. Furthermore, the long axis of the static electricity meter and the virtual plane parallel to the rotational direction of the lyocell material can intersect each other. More specifically, the long axis of the static electricity meter and the virtual plane parallel to the rotational direction of the lyocell material can be perpendicular to each other.
[0283] Meanwhile, the electrostatic meter may be spaced apart from the lyocell material by about 0.1 cm to about 10 cm, and specifically, by about 5 cm.
[0284] Meanwhile, as an example of a static electricity meter, SIMCO-ION's FMX-004 can be considered.
[0285]
[0286] According to the present application, a lyocell material for a smoking article filter that can replace commercially available cellulose acetate (CA) and a filter for a smoking article comprising the same are provided. Specifically, the present application not only provides a lyocell material with excellent manufacturing processability and uniformity, but also has the effect of improving filtering performance and the physical properties of smoking articles (e.g., cigarettes).
[0287]
[0288] The following specific examples of the invention will further illustrate its functions and effects. However, these examples are presented as illustrative examples and do not limit the scope of the invention in any way.
[0289]
[0290] Lyocell material was manufactured using the same process as described in the manufacturing example below. Conditions not specifically mentioned were within the scope of the above description.
[0291] Manufacturing example
[0292] Cellulose pulp having an alpha-cellulose content of 93.9% and a degree of polymerization (DPw) of 820 was mixed with an NMMO / H2O solvent having a propyl gallate content of 0.01 wt% to prepare a spinning dope for producing tow having a concentration of 11 wt%. Then, the spinning dope was spun while maintaining the spinning temperature at 110°C in the spinning nozzle and appropriately adjusting the discharge amount and spinning speed.
[0293] The spinning dope on the filament discharged from the spinning nozzle was supplied to the coagulation liquid (the coagulation liquid having a concentration of 75 wt% water and 25 wt% NMMO and a temperature of approximately 25°C) in the coagulation tank through the air gap section. At this time, the cooling air in the air gap section primarily coagulated the spinning dope at a temperature of 8°C and an air flow rate of 200 N㎥ / h. In addition, the concentration of the coagulation liquid was continuously monitored using a sensor and a refractometer.
[0294] Then, the coagulated lyocell filament was washed. Specifically, the filament was introduced into a traction roller, and the NMMO remaining in the filament was removed with a washing solution sprayed from a washing device. Then, the washed filament was immersed in a bath designed to have a predetermined emulsion concentration.
[0295] The filament was processed at a pressure of 2 kgf / cm2 by a nip roll installed in the bath discharge section and fed into a crimp machine for crimping. Specifically, the steam pressure was supplied to the steam box at 0.5 kgf / cm2, the pressure of the crimp roller was set to 2.5 kgf / cm2, and the pressure of the doctor blade was set to 0.5 kgf / cm2 to manufacture the tow.
[0296] To prevent static electricity and provide flexibility to the manufactured tow, a secondary emulsion treatment was performed, and immediately after the treatment, the tow product was dried by passing it through a continuous drying device set at 120°C.
[0297] The manufactured tow has a single denier of 3.0 to 3.5, a total denier of 36,000 to 40,000, and a crimp count of 25 to 35 ea / inch.
[0298] For reference, the types (components) and / or degrees of emulsion treatment (OPU) of the emulsion treated in each example and comparative example are different from each other as follows.
[0299] Example 1
[0300] As in the above manufacturing example, emulsion-treated lyocell tow was used. However, the emulsion used in the manufacture of the tow contained about 60 wt% of isotridecyl stearate, about 22 wt% of sorbitan monooleate, about 16 wt% of polyoxyethylene sorbitan monooleate, and the remainder of water, and OPU was 0.62 wt%.
[0301] Example 2
[0302] The same lyocell tow as in Example 1 was used, except that the OPU was 4.20 wt%.
[0303] Example 3
[0304] The same lyocell tow as in Example 1 was used, except that the OPU was 4.90 wt%.
[0305] Example 4
[0306] The same lyocell tow as in Example 1 was used, except that the OPU was 6.00 wt%.
[0307] Comparative Example 1
[0308] The same lyocell tow as in Example 1 was used, except that the OPU was 7.60 wt%.
[0309]
[0310] Experiment 1: Evaluation of electrostatic properties of pretreated lyocell tow
[0311] Lyocell tows manufactured according to Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 were each left for 24 hours under temperature conditions of 21°C and humidity conditions of 35%RH. Afterwards, each Lyocell tow was mounted on a Taber wear tester, and a CS10 from Taber was used as the wear wheel.
[0312] The load applied to the lyocell tow was 250 g, the rotation speed of the lyocell tow was 60 cycles / min, and the lyocell tow was rotated 10 or 30 times.
[0313] A static electricity meter (FMX-004 from SIMCO-ION) was placed on one side of the lyocell tow, and the lyocell tow and the static electricity meter were separated by approximately 5 cm. The static electricity measured by the static electricity meter is as shown in Table 1 below.
[0314] Meanwhile, the manufacturing process of the filter was simulated, and the lyocell tow of each evaluation example according to Table 1 was spread by the 1st to 3rd air spreaders, and the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material were evaluated during the process in which the spread lyocell tow was conveyed by the conveying roll. The spreading characteristics of the lyocell material were performed by visual observation, and specifically, when the lyocell tow was spread unevenly in terms of thickness and / or width, resulting in clumping of the emulsion or clumping of the lyocell multifilament, the spreading characteristics were evaluated as average or poor.
[0315] Additionally, if the spread of the lyocell material was insufficient to the extent that further processing was impossible, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material were evaluated as poor.

[0318]
[0319] Referring to Table 1 above, it was confirmed that the electrostatic value measured by the friction method at 25℃, 35%RH from the lyocell material of Comparative Example 1 was only 0.08 kV. In addition, the lyocell material of Comparative Example 1 with an electrostatic value of 0.08 kV was evaluated as having poor spreading characteristics. Specifically, according to Evaluation Examples 9 and 10, it was visually observed that a gap of 20% or more was formed between the lyocell materials of Comparative Example 1 during the spreading process by the air spreader. In addition, in the case of the lyocell material of Comparative Example 1, it was confirmed that the lyocell material was not gathered below the diameter radius of the filter paper during the spreading process by TTJ.
[0320]
[0321] Experiment 2: Evaluation of electrostatic properties of dried lyocell tow
[0322] The lyocell tows manufactured according to Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Example 1 were each dried at about 105°C for about 1 hour. Thereafter, each lyocell tow was mounted on a Taber abrasion tester, and a CS10 from Taber was used as the abrasion wheel.
[0323] The load applied to the lyocell tow was 250 g, the rotation speed of the lyocell tow was 60 cycles / min, and the lyocell tow was rotated 10 or 30 times.
[0324] A static electricity meter (FMX-004 from SIMCO-ION) was placed on one side of the lyocell tow, and the lyocell tow and the static electricity meter were separated by approximately 5 cm. The static electricity measured by the static electricity meter is as shown in Table 2 below.
[0325] Meanwhile, the manufacturing process of the filter was simulated to spread the lyocell tow of each evaluation example according to Table 2, and the spreading characteristics of the spread lyocell tow were evaluated. If the lyocell tow was spread unevenly in terms of thickness and / or width, or if plies were observed during the process of manufacturing the filter from the lyocell tow, the spreading characteristics were evaluated as poor.

[0328]
[0329] Referring to Table 2 above, the electrostatic value measured by the friction method from the lyocell material of Comparative Example 1 dried at 105°C for about 1 hour was confirmed to be 1.14 kV. In addition, the lyocell material of Comparative Example 1 with an electrostatic value of 1.14 kV was evaluated as having particularly poor spreading characteristics.
[0330] Specifically, according to Evaluation Example 20, it was visually observed that a gap of 20% or more was formed between the lyocell materials of Comparative Example 1 during the unfolding process by the air spreader. In addition, according to Evaluation Example 20, in the case of the lyocell material of Comparative Example 1, it was confirmed that the lyocell materials were not gathered below the diameter radius of the filter paper during the unfolding process by TTJ, and that excessive gaps were formed between the lyocell materials.
[0331] In addition, according to Table 2, the results of evaluating the electrostatic value and spreading characteristics according to the increase in the number of rotations showed that the electrostatic characteristics of the lyocell material according to Examples 3 and 4 were the most stable.
[0332] From the above Tables 1 and 2, it is confirmed that when the electrostatic value measured from the lyocell material is 0.08 kV or less or 1.14 kV or more, the spreading characteristics of the lyocell material are deteriorated. Meanwhile, it is confirmed that the lyocell materials according to Examples 1 to 4 show less change in electrostatic value due to friction compared to the lyocell material according to Comparative Example 1, and that the spreading characteristics are maintained at good or normal even in harsh environments.
