Narrowing the spacing between adjacent carbonization furnace inclined blades to prevent organic matter from remaining between adjacent carbonization furnace inclined blades increases the number of carbonization furnace inclined blades and the blade volume, which impairs the flow of superheated steam and removes heat from the superheated steam, resulting in poor carbonization treatment efficiency. This embodiment reduces adhesion of organic matter to the carbonization furnace inclined blades and allows the superheated steam to flow efficiently.
[0011] In the third embodiment of the present invention, in the carbonization treatment apparatus according to the first embodiment, a plurality of inclined vanes for the carbonization furnace are arranged at a predetermined pitch in the longitudinal direction of the carbonization furnace rotation shaft, and adjacent inclined vanes for the carbonization furnace are arranged in different radial directions relative to the carbonization furnace rotation shaft. [0012] In the fourth embodiment of the present invention, the blade length in the longitudinal direction of the carbonization furnace rotation shaft of the inclined blades for the carbonization furnace in the carbonization treatment apparatus according to the third embodiment is longer than the predetermined pitch. According to this embodiment, the front end of the adjacent inclined blade for the carbonization furnace located downstream is located upstream of the rear end of the inclined blade for the carbonization furnace located upstream, so that organic matter does not remain between adjacent inclined blades for the carbonization furnace.

According to this embodiment, the flow of superheated steam is promoted, sufficient contact between the superheated steam and the organic matter is achieved, and drying and carbonization processes using the superheated steam can be performed effectively.
[0037] A carbonization treatment apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a conceptual diagram of a carbonization treatment apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention. The carbonization treatment apparatus according to this embodiment includes a carbonization treatment unit 10 that carbonizes organic matter using superheated steam, a drying treatment unit 20 that dries the organic matter supplied to the carbonization treatment unit 10, and a superheated steam generator 30 that generates superheated steam. The drying treatment unit 20 is disposed above the carbonization treatment unit 10. The carbonization treatment unit 10 and the drying treatment unit 20 are each disposed horizontally, but by tilting them between 1 and 5 degrees so that the downstream side of the superheated steam is higher, natural exhaust of the superheated steam can be further promoted.
[0038] The carbonization processing section 10 has a cylindrical carbonization furnace 11 having at least an inner bottom surface formed into an arcuate surface, a carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12 arranged inside the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11, a carbonization furnace electric motor 13 that rotates the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12, and a carbonization furnace tilted blade 14 that is rotated by the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12. The drying processing section 20 has a cylindrical drying furnace 21 having at least an inner bottom surface formed into an arcuate surface, a drying furnace rotating shaft 22 arranged inside the cylindrical drying furnace 21, a drying furnace electric motor 23 that rotates the drying furnace rotating shaft 22, and a drying furnace tilted blade 24 that is rotated by the drying furnace electric motor 23.
[0039] One end of the drying furnace in the drying processing unit 20 includes a steam exhaust unit 26 that exhausts superheated steam and an organic matter supply unit 25 that supplies organic matter into the drying furnace. The steam exhaust unit 26 includes a draft space 26a connected to one end of the drying furnace, a steam exhaust stack 26b connected to the top of the draft space 26a, and a valve 26c that changes the passage area of the steam exhaust stack 26b. The valve 26c adjusts the amount of superheated steam naturally exhausted from the steam exhaust stack 26b so as not to exhaust superheated steam from the organic matter supply unit 25. The draft space 26a can also enhance the flow of natural exhaust. In this way, by adjusting the amount of naturally exhausted superheated steam with the valve 26c and not exhausting superheated steam from the supply unit, condensation of the organic matter supplied from the organic matter supply unit 25 can be prevented.
[0040] Organic matter supplied from one end of the cylindrical drying furnace 21 into the interior of the drying furnace is discharged from the other end of the drying furnace by the rotating tilted blades for the drying furnace 24, and organic matter discharged from the other end of the drying furnace is supplied from one end of the carbonization furnace of the carbonization processing unit 10 into the interior of the carbonization furnace, and organic matter supplied from one end of the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11 into the interior of the carbonization furnace is discharged from the other end of the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11 by the rotating tilted blades for the carbonization furnace 14. An outlet 15 is formed at the bottom of the other end of the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11.
[0041] Superheated steam at 300°C or higher generated by the superheated steam generator 30 is supplied to the carbonization treatment unit 10. The superheated steam supplied to the carbonization treatment unit 10 is supplied from one end of the carbonization furnace to the cylindrical drying furnace 21. The superheated steam supplied into the carbonization furnace is discharged from one end of the carbonization furnace at 120°C or higher. The superheated steam supplied from the other end of the cylindrical drying furnace 21 into the drying furnace is naturally exhausted from the steam exhaust unit 26 at one end of the drying furnace. As shown in Figure 1, no fan or the like is provided to forcibly exhaust the superheated steam.
[0042] As shown in this embodiment, the organic matter can be efficiently carbonized by flowing superheated steam in the direction in which the organic matter is supplied inside the carbonization furnace of the carbonization processing unit 10 and inside the drying furnace of the drying processing unit 20.
[0043] In the carbonization treatment apparatus shown in this embodiment, it is preferable to perform treatment by setting the rotation speed of the drying furnace motor 23 to be faster than that of the carbonization furnace motor 13. Because the weight loss rate of organic matter is greater in the drying treatment unit 20 than in the carbonization treatment unit 10, treatment efficiency can be improved by setting the rotation speed of the drying furnace motor 23 to be faster than that of the carbonization furnace motor 13. Note that the carbonization treatment efficiency can be improved by setting the moisture content of the organic matter supplied into the carbonization furnace to 10% or less, more preferably 6% or less.
[0044] 2 is a conceptual diagram of a carbonization treatment apparatus according to another embodiment of the present invention. The carbonization treatment apparatus according to this embodiment includes a carbonization treatment section 10 that carbonizes organic matter using superheated steam, a drying treatment section 20 that dries the organic matter supplied to the carbonization treatment section 10, and a superheated steam generator 30 that generates superheated steam. In this carbonization treatment apparatus, the drying treatment section 20 includes a first drying treatment section 20X and a second drying treatment section 20Y. The first drying treatment section 20X is disposed above the second drying treatment section 20Y, and the second drying treatment section 20Y is disposed above the carbonization treatment section 10. The carbonization treatment section 10, the first drying treatment section 20X, and the second drying treatment section 20Y are each disposed horizontally, but by tilting them by 1 to 5 degrees so that the downstream side of the superheated steam is higher, natural exhaust of the superheated steam can be further promoted.
[0045] The carbonization processing unit 10 includes a cylindrical carbonization furnace 11 having at least an inner bottom surface formed into an arcuate surface, a carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12 arranged inside the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11, a carbonization furnace motor 13 that rotates the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12, and a carbonization furnace tilted blade 14 that is rotated by the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12. The first drying processing unit 20X includes a first cylindrical drying furnace 21X having at least an inner bottom surface formed into an arcuate surface, a first drying furnace rotating shaft 22X arranged inside the first drying furnace of the first cylindrical drying furnace 21X, a first drying furnace motor 23X that rotates the first drying furnace rotating shaft 22X, and a first drying furnace tilted blade 24X that is rotated by the first drying furnace motor 23X. The second drying processing section 20Y includes a second cylindrical drying furnace 21Y having at least the inner bottom surface formed into an arcuate surface, a second drying furnace rotating shaft 22Y arranged inside the second drying furnace of the second cylindrical drying furnace 21Y, a second drying furnace electric motor 23Y that drives the second drying furnace rotating shaft 22Y, and a second drying furnace inclined blade 24Y that rotates by the second drying furnace electric motor 23Y.
[0046] One end of the first drying furnace of the first drying processing unit 20X includes a steam exhaust section 26 that exhausts superheated steam and an organic matter supply section 25 that supplies organic matter into the first drying furnace. The steam exhaust section 26 includes a draft space 26a connected to one end of the first drying furnace, a steam exhaust stack 26b connected to the top of the draft space 26a, and a valve 26c that changes the passage area of the steam exhaust stack 26b. The valve 26c adjusts the amount of superheated steam naturally exhausted from the steam exhaust stack 26b so as not to exhaust superheated steam from the organic matter supply section 25. The draft space 26a can also enhance the flow of natural exhaust. In this way, by adjusting the amount of naturally exhausted superheated steam with the valve 26c and not exhausting superheated steam from the supply section, condensation of the organic matter supplied from the organic matter supply section 25 can be prevented.
[0047] Organic matter supplied from one end of the first cylindrical drying furnace 21X to the interior of the first drying furnace is discharged from the other end of the first cylindrical drying furnace 21X by the rotating tilted blades for the first drying furnace 24X. Organic matter discharged from the other end of the first drying furnace is supplied from one end of the second drying furnace to the interior of the second drying furnace. Organic matter supplied to the interior of the second drying furnace is discharged from the other end of the second cylindrical drying furnace 21Y by the rotating tilted blades for the second drying furnace 24Y. Organic matter discharged from the other end of the second drying furnace is supplied from one end of the carbonization unit 10 to the interior of the carbonization furnace. Organic matter supplied from one end of the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11 to the interior of the carbonization furnace is discharged from the other end of the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11 by the rotating tilted blades for the carbonization furnace 14. An outlet 15 is formed at the bottom of the other end of the cylindrical carbonization furnace 11.
[0048] Superheated steam at 300°C or higher generated by the superheated steam generator 30 is supplied to the carbonization treatment unit 10. The superheated steam supplied to the carbonization treatment unit 10 is supplied from one end of the carbonization furnace to the second cylindrical drying furnace 21Y. The superheated steam supplied into the carbonization furnace is discharged from one end of the carbonization furnace at 120°C or higher. The superheated steam supplied from the other end of the second cylindrical drying furnace 21Y to the inside of the second drying furnace is supplied from the other end of the first drying furnace to the inside of the first drying furnace. The superheated steam supplied into the inside of the first drying furnace is naturally exhausted from the steam exhaust unit 26 at one end of the first drying furnace. As shown in Figure 2, no fan or the like is provided to forcibly exhaust the superheated steam.
[0049] As shown in this embodiment, the organic matter can be efficiently carbonized by flowing superheated steam in the direction in which the organic matter is supplied inside the carbonization furnace of the carbonization processing unit 10, inside the first drying furnace of the first drying processing unit 20X, and inside the second drying furnace of the second drying processing unit 20Y.
[0050] In the carbonization treatment apparatus shown in this embodiment, it is preferable to perform treatment by setting the rotation speed of the second drying oven motor 23Y faster than that of the carbonization oven motor 13, and setting the rotation speed of the first drying oven motor 23X faster than that of the second drying oven motor 23Y. Because the weight loss rate of organic matter is greater in the second drying processor 20Y than in the carbonization processor 10, and greater in the first drying processor 20X than that of the second drying processor 20Y, treatment efficiency can be improved by setting the rotation speed of the second drying oven motor 23Y faster than that of the carbonization oven motor 13, and by setting the rotation speed of the first drying oven motor 23X faster than that of the second drying oven motor 23Y.
[0051] In the carbonization treatment device shown in this embodiment, it is preferable that the organic matter supplied to the inside of the first drying furnace is powdered dried sludge obtained by drying dewatered sludge, which can improve the efficiency of the carbonization treatment.
[0052] Furthermore, in the carbonization treatment apparatus shown in this embodiment, it is preferable to perform treatment with the inside of the carbonization furnace set to 300° C. or higher, the inside of the second drying furnace set to 170° C. or higher, and the inside of the first drying furnace set to 120° C. or higher. In this way, by setting the inside of the carbonization furnace to 300° C. or higher, the carbonization treatment can be carried out reliably, by setting the inside of the second drying furnace to 170° C. or higher, the drying efficiency can be improved by taking advantage of the properties of superheated steam, and by setting the inside of the first drying furnace to 120° C. or higher, the drying efficiency can be improved.
[0053] In the carbonization treatment apparatus shown in this embodiment, the volume ratio of the organic matter remaining in the first drying furnace to the total volume of the first drying furnace is set to 25% or less, thereby promoting the flow of superheated steam and ensuring sufficient contact between the superheated steam and the organic matter, thereby enabling effective drying and carbonization using superheated steam. It is preferable to set the volume ratio of the organic matter remaining in the first drying furnace to the total volume of the first drying furnace to 5% or less, the volume ratio of the organic matter remaining in the second drying furnace to the total volume of the second drying furnace to 10% or less, and the volume ratio of the organic matter remaining in the carbonization furnace to the total volume of the carbonization furnace to 10% or less. The efficiency of the carbonization treatment can be improved by setting the moisture content of the organic matter supplied to the carbonization furnace to 10% or less, preferably 6% or less.
[0054] Figure 3 shows the inclined blades for the carbonization furnace described in Figures 1 and 2, with Figure 3(a) being a top view of the main parts of the carbonization processing section, and Figure 3(b) being a side cross-sectional view of the carbonization processing section. The inclined blades for the drying furnace 24 described in Figure 1 and the inclined blades for the first drying furnace 24X and the inclined blades for the second drying furnace 24Y described in Figure 2 have the same configuration as the inclined blades for the carbonization furnace 14 described in Figure 3, so their description will be omitted. The inclined blades for the drying furnace 24, the inclined blades for the first drying furnace 24X, and the inclined blades for the second drying furnace 24Y correspond to the inclined blades for the carbonization furnace 14, 14A, 14B, and 14C, respectively, and the blade connecting piece for the carbonization furnace corresponds to the blade connecting piece for the carbonization furnace 16. In Figure 3, arrow M indicates the rotation direction of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12, and arrow L indicates the movement direction of the organic matter.
[0055] The inclined vanes 14 for the carbonization furnace have an inclination angle α ranging from 30 to 60 degrees with respect to the axial direction 12s of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12. The inclination angle α of the inclined vanes 14 for the carbonization furnace is preferably in the range of 40 to 50 degrees, and is set to 45 degrees in this embodiment. If the inclination angle α is less than 30 degrees, organic matter tends to adhere to the inclined vanes 14 for the carbonization furnace. If the inclination angle α exceeds 60 degrees, organic matter will remain between adjacent inclined vanes 14. If the spacing between adjacent inclined vanes 14 is narrowed to prevent organic matter from remaining between adjacent inclined vanes 14, the number of inclined vanes 14 increases, which increases the vane volume. This impairs the flow of superheated steam and reduces the heat of the superheated steam, resulting in reduced carbonization efficiency. By setting the inclination angle α of the inclined blades 14 for the carbonization furnace in the range of 30 degrees to 60 degrees, or even in the range of 40 degrees to 50 degrees, it is possible to reduce adhesion of organic matter to the inclined blades 14 for the carbonization furnace and to allow superheated steam to flow efficiently.
[0056] 3(a), the multiple inclined vanes 14 for the carbonization furnace are arranged at a predetermined pitch T in the longitudinal direction of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12, and adjacent inclined vanes 14 for the carbonization furnace are arranged in different radial directions 12r with respect to the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12. By arranging the multiple inclined vanes 14 for the carbonization furnace in this manner, organic matter can be efficiently moved with a small number of inclined vanes 14, and superheated steam can be efficiently circulated.
[0057] The longitudinal blade length 14H of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12 of the carbonization furnace inclined blades 14 is longer than the predetermined pitch T. By making the longitudinal blade length 14H longer than the predetermined pitch T, the front end 14Bf of the adjacent carbonization furnace inclined blade 14B located downstream is located upstream of the rear end 14Ar of the carbonization furnace inclined blade 14A located upstream, so that organic matter does not remain between adjacent carbonization furnace inclined blades 14.
[0058] When the carbonization furnace inclined blades 14 are arranged in the order of carbonization furnace inclined blades 14A, 14B, and 14C from the upstream side in the direction of movement of the organic matter, the carbonization furnace inclined blade 14B is disposed in a radial direction 12r that is offset by 120 degrees from the carbonization furnace inclined blade 14A in the counter-rotation direction of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12, and the carbonization furnace inclined blade 14C is disposed in a radial direction 12r that is offset by 120 degrees from the carbonization furnace inclined blade 14B in the counter-rotation direction of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12. In this way, by sequentially offsetting the respective carbonization furnace inclined blades 14 by 120 degrees in the counter-rotation direction of the carbonization furnace rotating shaft 12, organic matter can be efficiently moved with a small number of carbonization furnace inclined blades 14 and superheated steam can be efficiently flowed.
[0059] Figure 4 is a perspective view showing the inclined vane for the carbonization furnace, taken from a different direction than Figures 4(a) and 4(b). The inclined vane for the carbonization furnace 14 is attached to the tip of the vane connecting piece 16 for the carbonization furnace, which extends from the rotating shaft 12 for the carbonization furnace in the radial direction 12r of the rotating shaft 12 for the carbonization furnace. The radial vane length 14j of the inclined vane for the carbonization furnace 14 is smaller than the radial connecting piece length 16j of the vane connecting piece 16 for the carbonization furnace, and the vane width 14k of the inclined vane for the carbonization furnace 14 is larger than the connecting piece width 16k of the vane connecting piece 16 for the carbonization furnace. This allows for efficient movement of organic matter and efficient flow of superheated steam.
[0060] According to the present invention, organic matter can be carbonized using superheated steam as a heat source.
