Description

[0001] Hydrodynamic liquid separator with the ability to pass cleaning and diagnostic means (SOD)

[0002] Field of technology to which the invention relates

[0003] The present invention relates to the field of oil and gas production and development / development of gas and gas condensate fields, and hydrocarbon preparation. It can find application in thermal power engineering for drying industrial gases / vapors, as well as for separating and removing the liquid phase from the flow of reservoir products / industrial gases / vapors in pipelines due to the Joule-Thompson effect and gravitational separation.

[0004] When oil or gas is produced from a wellbore, some fluid is usually produced simultaneously with the hydrocarbon stream (reservoir fluid). Reservoir fluid may include, for example, formation water, injected water, solids contained in the formation, and chemicals / waste added to the well or during the oil / water separation process.

[0005] During the transportation of reservoir products, cooling, condensation and precipitation of droplet liquid occur due to the Joule-Thompson effect on the narrowing part of the flow channel of the separation device, as well as accumulation of liquid under the action of gravity forces at the lower points of the gas-gathering manifold profile. The accumulation of liquid, in turn, can lead to the formation of local hydraulic resistance, liquid plugs, unstable operation of the gas-gathering manifold, vibrations, as well as the formation of hydrates and the development of corrosion. The above problems can lead to complications in the operation of equipment with the risk of unscheduled shutdowns of production at the field.

[0006] In order to eliminate the "plug mode" and increase the operating factor, as well as eliminate the risk of hydrate precipitation, a concept for the development of gas condensate fields (GCF) using separation devices for separating the liquid phase from reservoir gas, installed on the gas collection manifold in places with a high probability of condensation and accumulation of the liquid phase, is proposed. The installation locations of the separation modules are determined on the basis of the calculations carried out. State of the art

[0007] Document RU 2700524 C1, 17.09.2019 describes a device for separating liquid plugs, comprising a horizontally oriented receiving shell and a cylindrical trap tank, which communicate with a storage tank located underneath them, wherein a separating cone is located in the receiving shell, equipped with an inlet nozzle, the cavity of which in its lower part is communicated with the storage tank by means of a connecting pipe, and a wedge is located on top of the separating cone between its front surface and the ceiling part of the receiving shell, while at the outlet of the receiving shell inside the cylindrical trap tank there is a gas receiving pipe equipped with an outlet nozzle, and the trap tank is connected by means of drain wells to the storage tank, in the lower part of which a drain pipe is located.

[0008] The invention makes it possible to separate both liquid plugs and finely dispersed gas-liquid flow, as well as to increase the efficiency of gas purification from liquid and condensate flowing along a section of a pipeline in both continuous and stratified flows.

[0009] However, this device does not allow the passage of cleaning and diagnostic agent (CDA) through the pipeline.

[0010] A device for draining liquid from a gas pipeline is known from patent RU 42765 U1, 20.12.2004, comprising an inlet pipe containing a Venturi nozzle, a liquid collection tank with gas and liquid outlet pipes, a liquid drainage pipe installed in the tank, a manifold equipped with a Venturi nozzle, to the neck area of which a gas outlet pipe is connected, connected to the liquid collection tank. A cyclone-type separator is additionally installed in the device, connected to the inlet pipe and the manifold, wherein the liquid outlet pipe from the cyclone-type separator is installed in the liquid collection tank, and the liquid drainage pipe is connected to the manifold before entering the Venturi nozzle. The invention makes it possible to increase the efficiency of separating liquid from gas, to ensure reliable separation of large volumes of a gas-liquid mixture with a simple design of the liquid drainage device.

[0011] However, this device does not allow the passage of cleaning agents through the pipeline.

[0012] A device for separating liquid from gas is known from patent SU 1722540 A1, 30.03.1992, in which the flow channel is formed by a prechamber and slit-shaped openings arranged in rows along helical lines and a Venturi tube. Separation is carried out during the passage of a gas-liquid flow in a cylindrical prechamber. Rotational motion occurs due to the fact that part of the gas together with the liquid from the flow exits into the openings, creating a torque for the entire flow. The invention ensures effective separation of liquid from gas under conditions of the slug flow regime of the gas-liquid flow.

[0013] However, this device does not allow the passage of cleaning agents through the pipeline.

[0014] A device for separating a fluid from a fluid mixture, in particular for downhole separation of multiphase fluids produced by an oil well, is known from patent US 20020153326 A1, 24.10.2002. The device comprises a pipe for flowing the mixture, equipped with a Venturi flow meter, which is located after the ascending oil / water flow to increase mixing of the separated water / oil emulsion. It also comprises a cylindrical settling chamber surrounding the pipe, and an outlet pipe connected to the lower part of said chamber, wherein the pipe comprises a zone with small holes allowing the liquid to flow from the pipe into the settling chamber. The invention allows separating the fluid from the fluid mixture and ensuring separation of the liquid regardless of the mixture flow rate and the flow regime in the production pipe.

[0015] However, this device does not allow the passage of cleaning agents through the pipeline.

[0016] An in-line separator is known from patent US 20090065431 A1, 12.03.2009, which extends in a wellbore for extracting a hydrocarbon fluid. The in-line separator comprises an inlet branch pipe for receiving a flow of a multiphase fluid of oil / gas and water or any other incoming multiphase flow, a screw-shaped swirler or a tubular pipeline provided with a spiral-shaped insert for imparting a vortex motion to the flow of the multiphase fluid. An extraction section intended for extracting a relatively heavy phase, i.e. water, from the flow of the multiphase fluid. The extraction section includes a spiral tubular section made as a continuation of the swirler and a straight inner tube, provided with a plurality of through holes and communicating via a fluid medium with an annular space formed between the inner tube and the outer tube, and an outlet pipe for water. The separator can be used, for example, for liquid-liquid separation, liquid-gas separation, liquid-solid separation, gas-solid separation, and separation of one or more liquid and solid phases with different densities.

[0017] However, this device does not allow the passage of cleaning agents through the pipeline.

[0018] The closest to the present invention is the device according to patent UZ 2599 C, 28.02.2005, disclosing a separator for extracting condensable fluids from a gas, which is a channel in the form of a tubular body 1 with open ends. At one end of the body there is an inlet for a fluid, and near the other end of the body there is a first outlet for a fluid containing a liquid, and a second outlet for a fluid essentially free of liquid. The inlet is an acceleration section containing a Laval-type device having a longitudinal section of a shape narrowing-expanding in the direction of flow movement, with the help of which a supersonic speed is imparted to the flow of a fluid supplied to the body through the said inlet. The body also contains a primary cylindrical part and a diffuser, wherein the primary cylindrical part is located between the inlets and the diffuser. The body 1 also includes a secondary cylindrical part having a flow area greater than the primary cylindrical part and located downstream of the diffuser, in the form of a continuation of the diffuser. The secondary cylindrical part has longitudinal outlet slots for liquid located at a suitable distance from the outlet of the diffuser. The outlet chamber contains the secondary cylindrical part and has an outlet opening for the flow of concentrated liquids.

[0019] However, this device does not allow the passage of cleaning agents through the pipeline.

[0020] Multiphase gas-liquid mixtures (GLM) transported through pipelines contain contaminants, which in turn can cause contamination and failure of equipment installed on the pipeline.

[0021] Thus, it is necessary to develop a device, a separator, for separating the liquid phase from the extracted gas and liquid mixtures in pipelines, and also to provide for the possibility of passing cleaning and diagnostic means (CDM) through the pipeline on which this separator is installed.

[0022] Disclosure of the essence of the invention

[0023] The technical result achieved is the creation of a hydrodynamic liquid separator (separation device) for separating the liquid phase from the transported gas and liquid mixture and the possibility of passing cleaning and diagnostic means (CDM) through a pipeline through the separation device.

[0024] To achieve the specified technical result, a separation element with the following set of essential features is proposed:

[0025] A separation device for separating a liquid phase from formation gas, comprising a cylindrical housing with drainage channels, a separation element (consisting of sliding segments) and a perforated section are sequentially arranged inside the housing, the separation element is divided into segments, wherein the inner part of the separation element has a cavity, the inner flow section of which is a Venturi tube, slots are formed between the segments for removing condensed liquid, springs are located on the outer side of the segments with support on the housing, the separation element is designed with the possibility of changing the internal flow section due to the movement of the segments in the direction of the inner part of the housing when passing a cleaning and diagnostic agent through the inner section of the separation element in the process of removing deposited contaminants from the separation element.

[0026] Transportation of gas-liquid mixture (GLM) is carried out through a gas-gathering manifold under the action of reservoir energy with partial separation of moisture / liquid phase (condensate and water) in separation modules. The separated liquid phase will be diverted to the lower (drainage) part of the separation module and then transported by pump modules through a separate single-phase pipeline with subsequent collection in a separate receiving tank. Installation of a separation device for separating the liquid phase from reservoir gas allows to reduce the content of heavy components (C5+ and H2O) in the gas-liquid mixture by approximately 25%. When installing one separation device on a GSC, as a result of supercooling on the GLM separation device, according to preliminary estimates, about 97.6% of the precipitated liquid phase is removed from the reservoir product flow at this location of the separation device, which reduces the likelihood of hydraulic plugs and hydrates in the gas pipeline.

[0027] The design of the separation module consists of a base / frame, a separation part and a drainage part, connectors and shut-off valves. The separation part consists of a separation element, which is a cylinder located in the body and divided into segments (Fig. 1, pos. 1), by means of which the internal flow section of the flow part of the separator and the perforated section (Fig. 2, pos. 2) with drainage channels are changed. The number of built-in segments depends on the diameter of the gas collection manifold, taking into account the throughput of the separator. The minimum number of segments in the separator is three. The longitudinal section of the segment is a series connection of the confuser of the cylindrical section and the diffuser (Fig. 1 and Fig. 2). With a decrease in the flow section of the separator, a throttling effect occurs, which leads to cooling of the GLM and condensation / dropout of the liquid phase in the separation module. The liquid phase that has fallen out of the main gas flow is discharged under the action of gravity through the drainage channels (Fig. 2, pos. 3) into the drainage part of the separator (Fig. 2, pos. 4), which is located below. A liquid level sensor is located in the drainage part of the separator; when the specified maximum filling volume of the separator drainage tank is reached, the pump is automatically switched on to pump out the liquid into a separate pipeline with a diameter of 2”, connected through a specially provided shut-off valve (Fig. 2, pos. 5). The diameter of the pipeline depends on the liquid flow rate and is determined based on the results of preliminary hydraulic calculations.

[0028] A hydrodynamic liquid separator is installed at certain points in the pipeline where the dew point temperature is higher than the temperature of the gas-liquid mixture. To separate the liquid phase from the multiphase GLM flow, it is necessary to artificially supercool the GLM flow using a Venturi tube used as a throttling element in the flow part of the separation module. Additional supercooling ensures the precipitation of condensed moisture in this place. The separation part of the hydrodynamic liquid separator consists of built-in elements that change the internal flow section of the separator flow part, a perforated section with drainage channels. With a decrease in the flow section of the separator, a throttling effect occurs, which leads to cooling of the GLM and condensation / precipitation of the liquid phase in the separation module. When the gas-liquid mixture passes through a narrowing channel, the GLM velocity in the narrow section increases, and the pressure level drops. The Joule-Thompson effect is observed, as a result of which, when the gas-liquid mixture expands, its cooling is observed. Guaranteed cooling leads to the precipitation of droplet liquid, which, after passing through a narrow section, must be collected and removed.

[0029] The design of the separation module consists of a base / frame, a separation part and a drainage part, connectors and shut-off valves. The separation part consists of a housing with drainage channels and contains a series-connected flow part, which is a hollow cylinder divided into at least three segments, by means of which the internal flow section of the flow part of the separator is changed, which is a Venturi tube, and a perforated section. The design of the hydrodynamic liquid separator allows changing the flow section due to the movement of the segments of the narrowing part in the radial direction by means of spring mechanisms. With a decrease in the flow section of the separator, a throttling effect occurs, which leads to cooling of the GLM and condensation / dropout of the liquid phase in the separation module. The liquid phase that has fallen out of the main gas flow is discharged under the action of gravity through the drainage channels into the drainage part of the separator, which is located below. A liquid level sensor is located in the drainage part of the separator; when the specified maximum filling volume of the separator drainage tank is reached, the pump is automatically switched on to pump out the liquid into a separate liquid collection pipeline.

[0030] The design of the hydrodynamic liquid separator allows changing the flow cross-section by moving the segments of the tapering part in the radial direction using spring mechanisms.

[0031] The hydrodynamic liquid separator can be installed either in a pipeline break or in a pipeline break with the addition of a parallel pipeline (bypass) at the inlet and outlet of the hydrodynamic liquid separator.

[0032] The gas-liquid mixture flowing through the pipeline enters the separation section housing of the hydrodynamic liquid separator into the flow section, which is a hollow cylinder divided lengthwise into segments with spring mechanisms (the minimum number of springs per segment is 4 springs). The mixture flows through the internal flow section of the hollow cylinder, which is a Venturi tube (confuser angle is 25-63°; diffuser angle is 6-10°; Lr / Dr = 0.15 is the ratio of the “neck” length to the “neck” diameter). When the gas-liquid mixture passes through a narrowing channel, the GLM velocity in the narrow section increases, and the pressure level drops. The Joule-Thompson effect is observed, as a result of which, when the GLM expands, it cools down, which leads to the precipitation of droplet liquid, which must be collected and removed after passing the narrow section. In this case, the droplet liquid and gases also pass through the gaps between the segments, which helps to maximize the extraction of liquid from the gas-liquid flow. After passing the flow part, the gas-liquid mixture enters the perforated section of the separation device for condensation / precipitation of the liquid phase. From the separation part, the condensed / precipitated liquid phase enters under the action of gravity through drainage channels into the drainage tank, which is located below. In the drainage part of the separator, there is a liquid level sensor; when the specified maximum filling volume of the separator drainage tank is reached, the pump is automatically turned on to pump out the liquid into a separate liquid collection pipeline.

[0033] When the internal flow section of the hollow cylinder of the flow part of the separator is contaminated and the gaps for draining the dripping liquid between the segments are contaminated, the separator provides for the possibility of passing cleaning and diagnostic means through it. The design of the hydrodynamic liquid separator allows changing the flow section due to the movement of the segments in the radial direction. In particular, a piston is pushed into the pipeline under pressure, which pushes apart the internal flow section of the hollow cylinder, the section expands in the body of the separation part due to the compression of the springs installed on the outer side of each of the segments, while the gaps between the segments increase and all contaminants are pushed out under pressure into the body of the separation part, from where they are removed through drainage channels into the drainage tank.

[0034] According to one of the preferred variants, the springs are positioned in the separation device with support on the bottom of an annular chamber pre-formed on the inner surface of the housing, and the chamber is formed with the possibility of placing a segment in it with support on the annular chamber.

[0035] According to another preferred embodiment of the separation device, the springs are positioned with support directly on the inside of the housing.

[0036] Also, the proposed technical solution for the hydrodynamic separator object is characterized by the following set of essential features:

[0037] A hydrodynamic liquid separator consisting of a base / frame, a liquid separation module described above with the ability to pass cleaning and diagnostic means through the internal section of the separator, a drainage section, connectors and shut-off valves.

[0038] According to one preferred embodiment, the drainage section is equipped with liquid level sensors and a pump connected to the level sensors and connected to a pipeline for pumping out liquid.

[0039] According to another preferred embodiment, the pump is additionally connected to the separation module.

[0040] According to another preferred embodiment, the hydrodynamic separator is designed with the possibility of installation both in a pipeline break and in a pipeline break with the addition of a parallel bypass pipeline at the inlet and outlet of the hydrodynamic liquid separator.

[0041] The proposed method of separation is characterized by the following set of essential features:

[0042] A method for separating a gas-liquid mixture in which the gas-liquid mixture is passed through a separation device for separating the liquid phase from the formation gas described above, and the separated liquid is separated, while the deposited contaminants in the separation process are removed by a cleaning and diagnostic agent passed through the internal section of the separator.

[0082] Implementation of the invention

[0083] The gas-collecting manifold (GCM) is designed to transport a gas-liquid mixture. The length of the GCM is 600 km. The temperature of the GLM at the inlet to the GCM is 332K, the ambient temperature (To) is 271K, the value of the inlet pressure of the GCM is 24.0 MPa, the volumetric flow rate of the GLM in the GCM is 50*10 6 l / min. The graph of temperature change along the length of the pipeline for a section up to 15 km from the side of the entrance to the GSK without taking into account the thermal insulation of the GSK is shown in Fig. 5.

[0084] Fig. 6 shows a graph defining the boundary of hydrate formation in a gas-liquid mixture. The boundary is the intersection point of the graphs of the proper hydrate formation curve for a natural gas mixture (red parabola) and the proper hydrate formation curve for pure methane (blue parabola). The area below and to the right of the red curve is the area of no hydrates. The area above and to the left of the red curve is the area of water release and hydrate formation. The points connected by the dotted red line are the calculated points of operation of the GSC. Some of these points are located in the area of no hydrates, and some in the area where hydrates begin to form. Thus, hydrate formation is possible during operation of the GSC and transportation of GLM through it. Using this graph in Fig. 6, a point with a temperature value of 285.993°K (12.993°C) was determined, upon reaching which the hydrate formation process will occur. This point is marked on the graph as a vertical line. The point with the temperature of the onset of hydrate formation corresponds to the pipeline coordinate equal to 1431.95 m - this is the point with the highest probability of the formation of a "hydrate plug". Thus, the first separation module must be installed at a distance of 1431.95 m from the entrance to the GSK.

[0085] The movement of gas in the gas compressor station is non-isothermal (the gas cools down due to heat transfer through the walls of the gas pipeline with the environment). In fact, the movement of gas in the gas compressor station is always non-isothermal. After some cooling at the inlet section, the temperature of the gas entering the gas compressor station is 10-20°C lower than from the well, which is significantly higher than the ambient temperature (To). In practice, the gas temperature becomes close to the ambient temperature only in small-diameter gas pipelines (Dy<500 mm) at a distance of 20-40 km from the compressor station or throttling point, and for larger diameter gas pipelines it is always higher than To.

[0086] The influence of gas temperature change is evident in the vast majority of cases. The larger the diameter of the gas pipeline, the lower the intensity of heat exchange between the gas flow and the environment. The final gas temperature is determined by the method of successive approximations, due to which the thermal-hydraulic calculation of the gas pipeline becomes an iterative process.

[0087] In addition, it should be taken into account that the gas transported through the pipeline is a real gas, which is subject to the Joule-Thompson effect, which takes into account the absorption of heat during gas expansion.

[0088] Fig. 10 shows a graph of the change in the temperature of the onset of hydrate formation along the pipeline, taking into account the gas composition and the change in pressure along the pipeline. Curve No. 1 (blue) displays the change in pressure along the gas pipeline. Curve No. 2 (red) displays the change in the temperature of hydrate formation. Curve No. 3 (green) displays the change in moisture content along the pipeline. Curve No. 4 (yellow) displays the change in dew point temperature. Curve No. 5 (orange) displays the change in gas temperature along the pipeline.

[0089] There is no condensed moisture in the gas pipeline in the section up to 1437 m, since the gas dew point temperature is lower than its temperature. In the next section, condensed moisture will form, since the dew point temperature is higher than the gas temperature and there will be a risk of hydrate formation up to the section located at a distance of 1689 m, where the gas temperature becomes higher than the dew point temperature. Thus, the first installation point of the separation device for separating the liquid phase from the formation gas should be at the 1437 m mark. In the section from 1689 m to the 2316 m mark, condensed liquid will not form, since the gas temperature is higher than the dew point temperature. At the 2316 m mark, the gas temperature drops below the dew point temperature, i.e. moisture precipitation begins at this point. Thus, at this point, it is necessary to install the second module of the separation device for separating the liquid phase from the formation gas. Further along the gas pipeline, the amount of moisture will be minimal.

[0090] Fig. 11 shows the graph on an enlarged scale - the area between the entry point to the GSK and 3 km.

[0091] Fig. 12 shows a diagram of the distribution of droplet moisture across the separator cross-section.

[0092] As can be seen from Fig. 12, the greatest amount of moisture will be released at a distance of approximately 4.5 m from the narrow section. This can be explained by the fact that at the outlet of the narrow section, adiabatic expansion of the gas and a decrease in its temperature occur. Since in this place the temperature of the GLM is lower than the dew point temperature and is additionally supercooled in the separation device, the probability of the condensation process and the precipitation of liquid droplets increases.

[0093] Fig. 14 shows the dependence of the liquid phase content in the GLM flow; there is a decrease in the mass fraction of liquid in the GLM as a result of its release in pure form, i.e. the moisture content in the mixture drops, and it is released, according to Fig. 6.

[0094] Table 1. Results of preliminary hydraulic calculation

[0095] Thus, based on the given example, the liquid phase flow rate will be 50 m 3 / day (34.7 l / min), which will need to be diverted by liquid transfer pumps into the tank.

[0096] The design of the separation device for separating the liquid phase from the formation gas allows the cleaning and diagnostics system (CDS) to pass through it. The CDS is selected depending on the required work performed on the GSK. The CDS ensures cleaning of the GSK from deposits inside it, and also performs the role of collecting liquid in the GSK. With its subsequent disposal in a tank located at the outlet of the GSK. After the work on the GSK is carried out by the CDS system, the GSK pipeline is freed from impurities (clay, sand, mechanical impurities, etc.) and liquid accumulated throughout the GSK section, and is ready for operation. Fig. 15 shows a version of the separation device, where the narrowing of the flow part is ensured by springs that are located with support on the inner surface of the annular chamber of the housing, and the chamber is formed with the possibility of placing a segment in it with support on the annular chamber.During transportation of formation products, cooling, condensation and precipitation of droplet liquid occur due to the manifestation of the Joule-Thompson effect on the narrowing part of the flow channel of the separation device (Fig. 15), as well as accumulation of liquid under the action of gravitational forces at the lower points of the profile of the gas-gathering manifold. The discharge of the released liquid occurs through the perforated section of the separation device. The narrowing of the flow part of the separation device is ensured by the shape of the sliding segments (Fig. 15, pos.) installed on the supports (Fig. 15, pos. 305) and located in the annular chamber (Fig. 15, pos. 304) of the separation device body. When the SDS passes (in the direction of movement of the GLS), expansion of the narrow part of the flow channel of the separation device occurs due to rotation of the segments (Fig. 15, pos. 303) on the support (Fig. 15, pos. 305).After the SOD passes through the segment installation zone, the segments return to their original state under the action of the spring (Fig. 15, pos. 301) of the spring mechanism (Fig. 15, pos. 302).
