An apparatus is provided for assisting in creating a fistula between a first blood vessel having a first diameter and a second blood vessel. The apparatus includes a catheter with a resizable portion disposed near the distal end of the catheter. The catheter is traversed through the first vessel to a position adjacent to a location intended for a fistula connecting the first vessel to the second vessel. The resizable portion in a nominal configuration has a diameter which is less than the first diameter, allowing traversal through the first vessel. The resizable portion is manipulable to an active configuration having a diameter substantially equal to the first diameter, stabilizing the catheter within the first vessel. The resizable portion may be at least partially radiopaque, and may cover all but a free arc of the outer surface, allowing an unobstructed path for a piercing tool to pass.

The invention is directed to techniques for coupling a first network and a second network including a method for processing messages to be transferred from a first network to a second network. The method comprising the steps of receiving a message to be transferred between a client device coupled to the first network and a server device coupled to the second network. A first data communications device determines that the message is associated with a connection that is related to a second data communications device also coupling the first network and the second network, wherein the first data communications device and the second data communications device share a network address on the first network. The first data communications device processes the message to maintain the connection to the client device on the first network and to at least one server device on the second network.

The catheter apparatus may be used to assist in creating a fistula between two adjacent blood vessels. The apparatus includes a catheter for inserting into a first blood vessel which lies adjacent to a second blood vessel, the catheter having a plurality of openings through which a physician may navigate a piercing tool. The physician maneuvers the tip of the catheter to a position within the first blood vessel adjacent to a portion of the first blood vessel wall in which the physician intends to create an opening. The physician may then rotate the piercing tool within the catheter and extend the piercing tool through one opening at a time, without rotating the catheter, until the physician chooses an opening that is properly aimed at the second blood vessel. A stent assembly is provided for preserving and/or dilating a fistula between a first blood vessel and a second blood vessel. The system comprises an expandable stent having a proximal end, a distal end and a stabilizing device adjacent its distal end. The stabilizing portion may have nominal and active configurations. Control state circuitry maintains a record of the chosen cache line in which said data of a predetermined data type has been written, so that upon receipt of a request for that data it can then be provided from the instruction cache.

The present invention provides a storage device that enables identification data to be readily rewritten and ensures normal completion of a data writing operation in a short time period. In the storage device of the invention, an ID comparator determines whether or not identification data transmitted from a host computer coincides with identification data stored in a memory array. In the case of coincidence, the ID comparator sends an access enable signal EN to an operation code decoder. The operation code decoder analyzes a write/read command, switches over a direction of data transfer with regard to the memory array based on a result of the analysis, and requires an I/O controller to change a high impedance setting of a signal line connecting with a data terminal DT. This series of processing allows access to an address in the memory array specified by a count on an address counter.

The host computer may further be configured to communicate with the verification computer to acquire personalized data on the user, and to communicate with the non-user computer to provide personalized information on the user in response to entry of a PIN, where the type of personalized information provided is based on the verification type linked to the PIN.

A method (1000) to automatically detect and rectify a tray block in a disk drive (100) is disclosed. The method comprises detecting an occurrence of a tray block in a disk drive (100) upon receiving a tray-out command or a tray-in command by determining whether the tray (108) is in an intermediate position for a predetermined time period, the intermediate 5 position being a position between a first position within a casing of the disk drive (100) and a second position projecting completely outwards from the casing, the tray arranged to receive a record carrier (110) when in the second position and being supported for movement between the first position and the second position. The detected tray block is rectified by cleaning a brush-commutator interface of a tray motor (102), the tray motor being arranged to 10 move the tray (108) between the first position and the second position. The technique is useful for CD, DVD and BD recorders and for players which have the design of tray open/close mechanism.

In one embodiment, a method of providing gaming services comprises providing one or more player game values to a first remote game player and a second remote game player, and receiving one or more mechanically-generated contingent game values by a processor, the one or more mechanically-generated contingent game values representing a number of game values needed to ensure game completion for each of the two or more remote game players. The method further comprises revealing one or more of the one or more mechanically-generated contingent game values to the first remote game player and the second remote game player over a communication network, and determining a final game result for the first and second remote game players based on at least the one or more mechanically-generated contingent game values revealed to the players and the player game values.

The invention relates to a locking mechanism for plug-in connectors with a mating connector. Such a locking mechanism has two types of locking means, a primary locking element that is suitable for locking the mating connector and a secondary locking element that is suitable for mutually locking with the primary locking element. In doing so, the secondary locking element locks the primary one in the locked state of the locking mechanism and the primary locking element locks the secondary one in the unlocked state. By contacting the mating connector, the mechanism is automatically locked and is unlocked by actuating the secondary locking element which is implemented as an actuator.
