Abstract

The invention provides a method for extracting main texture simply and quickly, which comprises: 1) changing the color expression of an image from an RGB color space to an HIS color space; 2) dividing an image by using uniform grids of different sizes to obtain images of various resolutions; 3) drawing color distribution column diagrams for images of each resolution according to the H, I and S components of the HIS color space respectively; 4) if the distribution under different resolution of a column diagram corresponding to a component tends to be more consistent, selecting the component as the evidence for extracting the main texture; 5) under the selected component, selecting the pixels corresponding to the colors near the peak value of the column diagram under each resolution to form main texture candidates; and 6) counting the pixels which belong to the main texture candidates under a majority of resolutions, wherein the pixels form the main texture, and thus the extraction of the main texture is accomplished. The method can extract the main texture more quickly and can be used for generating texture images with higher quality.
