Abstract

The invention relates to the technical field of internet and discloses a browser and a method for isolating webpage plugins. The method comprises the steps of: acquiring types of plugins in a webpage to be loaded in a webpage loading process; establishing a plugin process independent of a browser process for the plugins of the same type in the webpage; establishing a thread for the plugins of each same type in the webpage in the independent plugin process so as to run the plugins in the webpage; and when a browser tab page of the plugins in the webpage is closed, closing the thread of the plugins in the webpage and releasing the memory space occupied by the thread. According to the invention, by means of running the webpage plugins of different types in different processes independent of the browser process, the problem of tab (or tab page) crash or even entire browser crash caused by plugin crash is solved, and the beneficial effect of enabling the browser to run more stably is achieved.
