The method comprises the following steps: when an updating instruction of a target application is received, acquiring a first data volume needed during target application updating and a remaining storage space capacity of electronic equipment according to the updating instruction; judging whether the first data volume is greater than the remaining storage space capacity or not; if so, determining an application to be uninstalled from a preset application set according to the first data volume, the remaining storage space capacity and history use frequencies of applications; uninstalling the application to be uninstalled; and when the remaining storage space capacity is greater than the first data volume, updating the target application. The embodiment of the invention also discloses an application updating device, a storage medium and electronic equipment. Compared with the prior art, the application updating method and device in the embodiment of the invention have the advantages that the updating of the target application can become more intelligent; the steps of an updating operation performed on an application under the condition that the remaining storage space capacity is insufficient are simplified; and the application updating success rate is increased.
