The traffic event sensing method comprises the steps of: determining a reference road section corresponding to a target road section in response to a traffic event sensing instruction; acquiring traffic state information corresponding to the reference road section; and when detecting that a traffic state of the reference road section is abnormal according to the traffic state information corresponding to the reference road section, determining that a traffic event occurs on the target road section. Accordingly, whether the traffic state of the reference road section is abnormal or not can be detected based on the traffic state information of the reference road section, and then whether a traffic event occurs on the target road section or not can be analyzed according to the traffic state on the reference road section. Thus, the traffic event on each road section in the road scene can be more comprehensively perceived and is not limited by the coverage degree of video acquisition equipment any more, so that the perception efficiency of the traffic event canbe effectively improved.
