[0049] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. Before the description, it should be understood that the terms used in the specification and the appended claims should not be interpreted as limited to the general meaning and dictionary meaning, but should be interpreted based on the meaning and concept corresponding to the technical aspects of the present disclosure on the basis of the principle that the inventor allows appropriate definition of the terms for the best interpretation.

[0050] Therefore, the descriptions presented herein are merely preferred examples for illustrative purposes, and are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure, so it should be appreciated that other equivalent substitutions and modifications may be made thereto without departing from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0051] Figure 1 is a diagram showing an example of a battery cell 600 . Figure 2 It is along Figure 1 A cross-sectional view of a portion of the element is shown taken along line AA'. Figure 3 2 is a diagram showing a welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figures 1 to 3, a welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include an anvil 100, a welding head 200, and a processor (not shown). A battery cell 600 may refer to a secondary battery. A battery cell 600 may be a soft-pack type battery cell. A battery cell 600 may include a plurality of electrode assemblies 630. The electrode assembly 630 may be configured such that an electrode active material is coated on an electrode current collector. A portion of the electrode current collector may extend and form an electrode tab 610. The electrode tab 610 may be disposed in each electrode assembly 630. A plurality of electrode tabs 610 may be combined by welding. A plurality of electrode tabs 610 may be combined with an electrode lead 620. The battery cell 600 may include a housing 640 surrounding the electrode assembly 630, the electrode tab 610, and the electrode lead 620. The housing 640 may surround at least a portion of the electrode lead 620. The electrode tab 610 may be referred to as a metal foil 610 or a metal material 610. After performing ultrasonic welding, the electrode tab 610 may be combined by laser welding.

[0052] The welding machine may be configured to weld a plurality of metal materials 610. The plurality of metal materials 610 may be a plurality of electrode tabs 610 overlapping each other or a plurality of electrode tabs 610 stacked on each other. The welding machine may weld the plurality of electrode tabs 610 by using ultrasonic welding.

[0053] The anvil 100 may be configured so that a plurality of metal materials 610 are placed thereon. For example, the anvil 100 may have a large top surface, and the metal material may be placed on the large top surface. In addition, the anvil 100 may be configured to stably support the plurality of metal materials 610 even during welding.

[0054] The horn 200 may be located on the anvil 100. The horn 200 may include a plurality of protrusions 220, 230 protruding toward the anvil 100. The plurality of protrusions 220, 230 may contact the plurality of metal materials 610 and may transmit ultrasonic vibrations.

[0055] The processor may be configured to operate and control the welding machine. The processor may vibrate the welding head 200 to form a hole 611 through the plurality of metal materials 610.

[0056] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, the welding machine can weld the plurality of metal materials 610 and can form holes passing through the plurality of metal materials 610. Therefore, the user or the processor can determine whether the plurality of metal materials 610 are well welded by checking whether holes passing through the plurality of metal materials 610 are formed. For example, when the holes passing through the plurality of metal materials 610 are not identified, it can be determined that the welding of the plurality of metal materials 610 is not successful.

[0057] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, a user or a processor can clearly and easily determine whether welding of the plurality of metal materials 610 has been successful.

[0058] Figure 4 2 is a diagram showing an example of transmitting vibration by a welding head 200 of a welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 3 and Figure 4 , the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may be configured so that the plurality of protrusions 220, 230 vibrate in a circular trajectory. Figure 4 One protrusion 230 vibrates in a circular trajectory, but the other protrusion 220 can also vibrate in a circular trajectory. In addition, the circular vibration of the protrusions 220 and 230 can be controlled by a processor.

[0059] Conventional welding machines are configured to form a straight welding line. However, according to this configuration of the present disclosure, since the plurality of welding protrusions 220, 230 are configured to form a circular trajectory, the number of welding spots or dents can be reduced compared to a straight welding line. Therefore, the spacing between the plurality of protrusions 220, 230 can be increased, and the degree of freedom of changing the shape of each protrusion 220, 230 can be increased.

[0060] Figure 5 and Figure 6 is a diagram showing a process of forming holes in a plurality of metal materials 610 by a welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figures 3 to 6 The plurality of protrusions 220 , 230 of the welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may include a welding protrusion 220 for welding the plurality of metal materials 610 and a first penetration protrusion 230 for forming a hole 611 passing through the plurality of metal materials 610 .

[0061] When ultrasonic vibration is generated from the welding head 200, the welding protrusion 220 may weld the plurality of metal materials 610. At this time, the first penetration protrusion 230 may form a hole 611 passing through the plurality of metal materials 610. At least one welding protrusion 220 and at least one first penetration protrusion 230 may be provided. The first penetration protrusion 230 may be provided adjacent to the welding protrusion 220.

[0062] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, since welding and hole formation are performed at the same time, the reliability of determining whether welding is successful based on whether a hole is formed or the size of the hole can be improved.

[0063] Reference Figures 3 to 6 , the protrusion length h2 of the first penetration protrusion 230 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may be longer than the protrusion length h1 of the welding protrusion 220 .

[0064] The body 210 of the horn 200 may face the anvil 100. The welding protrusion 220 and the first penetration protrusion 230 may be formed on the body 210 of the horn 200. The body 210 of the horn 200 may have one surface facing the anvil 100, and the one surface may be a flat surface. When performing welding, the body 210 of the horn 200 and the anvil 100 may be configured to maintain a constant distance. When performing welding, the welding protrusion 220 and the first penetration protrusion 230 may contact the plurality of metal materials 610.

[0065] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, when welding is performed, the first penetration protrusion 230 may press down the plurality of metal materials 610. Due to the first penetration protrusion 230, at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 may be pushed downward. Alternatively, due to the first penetration protrusion 230, a hole 611 passing through the plurality of metal materials 610 may be formed.

[0066] Reference Figures 3 to 6 , the anvil 100 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may include a receiving portion 111 facing the first penetration protrusion 230 .

[0067] The receiving portion 111 may be formed in the upper surface of the body 110 of the anvil 100. When welding is performed, the distance between the receiving portion 111 and the first penetration protrusion 230 may be reduced. When welding is performed, at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 pushed by the first penetration protrusion 230 may be received in the receiving portion 111.

[0068] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, when welding is performed, the accommodation portion 111 may accommodate at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 , thereby making it easy to form the hole 611 .

[0069] Reference Figures 3 to 6 The anvil 100 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a cutting blade 120 formed around the accommodation portion 111 .

[0070] The cutting blade 120 may be formed inwardly along the circumference of the receiving portion 111. The cutting blade 120 may cut at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610. Figure 5 and Figure 6 , when welding is performed, at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 may be pushed downward by the first penetration protrusion 230. In this case, the pushing portion 612 may be cut by the cutting blade 120. When the first penetration protrusion 230 vibrates in a circular trajectory, a cutting line may be formed along the circular trajectory. Therefore, at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 may be separated into circular slices 612, and a hole 611 having a circular shape and passing through the plurality of metal materials 610 may be formed. The portion separated from the plurality of metal materials 610 may be referred to as a slice 612 or a cut piece 612.

[0071] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, when welding is performed, at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 can be cut. Therefore, it is possible to easily determine whether welding has been successful, and the reliability of the determination can be improved.

[0072] Figure 7 is a diagram showing welding performed by a welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 7 , the anvil 100 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may be configured such that at least a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 is accommodated in the accommodation portion 111. The accommodation portion 111 may be formed at a position facing the first penetration protrusion 230. A portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 pushed by the first penetration protrusion 230 may be accommodated in the accommodation portion 111. The slices 612 cut by the cutting blade 120 may fall by gravity and may be accommodated in the accommodation portion 111.

[0073] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, since the cut pieces 612 generated during welding are accommodated in the accommodation portion 111, the cut pieces 612 can be separated from other parts of the welding machine. Therefore, welding defects or errors caused by the cut pieces 612 can be prevented.

[0074] Figure 8 2 is a diagram showing a welding machine according to another embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 8 The welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a weight measuring unit 400. The weight measuring unit 400 may be located in the receiving portion 111 of the anvil 100. The processor may be configured to detect the weight measured by the weight measuring unit 400. For example, the weight measuring unit 400 may be a scale 400.

[0075] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, the slice 612 generated during welding can be placed on the scale 400. Therefore, the weight measuring unit 400 can detect the weight of the slice 612. Therefore, when welding is performed multiple times, the processor can detect the generation or addition of the slice 612 by detecting the increase in weight measured by the weight measuring unit 400.

[0076] Furthermore, according to such a configuration of the present disclosure, when it is detected that no change in the weight of the scale is detected while welding is performed a plurality of times, the processor can detect that a welding defect has occurred.

[0077] Fig. 9 is a diagram showing a welding machine according to yet another embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig. 9, the welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a suction unit 500. The receiving portion 111 of the anvil 100 may pass through the body 110. The suction unit 500 may be connected or communicated with one end of the receiving portion 111. The slice 612 generated while performing welding may be extracted by the suction unit 500 through the receiving portion 110.

[0078] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, since the slice 612 generated during welding is extracted by the suction unit 500, the slice 612 can be separated from other parts of the welding machine. In addition, since the slice 612 is not accumulated inside the accommodating portion 111, there is no need to empty the inside of the accommodating portion 111.

[0079] Fig.10 is a diagram showing an example of inspecting welding quality by a welding machine according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig.10 The welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a visual sensor 300 configured to detect the hole 611. The visual sensor 300 may detect the hole 611 formed in the plurality of metal materials 610 through the first penetrating protrusion 230. The visual sensor 300 may detect whether the hole 611 is penetrated. Fig.10 As shown in (a) of FIG. 5 , the processor may determine that a welding defect exists when the hole 611 does not penetrate the plurality of metal materials 610. Fig.10 As shown in (b), the processor can determine that welding has been successful when the hole 611 penetrates the plurality of metal materials 610.

[0080] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, it is possible to quickly and accurately determine whether welding has been successful.

[0081] Fig.11 is a diagram showing a welding machine according to yet another embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig.11 According to another embodiment of the present disclosure, the cutting blade 120a of the welding machine can be configured to be replaceable. The cutting blade 120a can be detachably coupled or fastened to the receiving portion 111 of the anvil 100. The cutting blade 120a can be formed to have an internal space. The slices 612 generated during welding can be accommodated or gathered in the internal space of the cutting blade 120a.

[0082] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, the durability of the welding machine can be improved. The cutting blade 120a may wear faster than other parts of the welding machine. When the cutting blade 120a is worn, the slice 612 may not be produced smoothly, and the reliability of determining whether the welding has been successful may be reduced. However, since the cutting blade 120a can be replaced, the maintenance of the welding machine can be facilitated.

[0083] Fig.12is a diagram showing a welding machine according to still another embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig.13 It is shown by Fig.12 Diagram of a welding machine performing welding. Fig.14 is a diagram showing a welding machine according to yet another embodiment of the present disclosure. Figure 12 to Figure 14 The anvil 100 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may include the second penetration protrusion 130 which protrudes toward the welding head 200 and faces the first penetration protrusion 230 .

[0084] When welding is performed, the plurality of metal materials 610 located between the first penetration protrusion 230 and the second penetration protrusion 130 may be pushed outward. When the first penetration protrusion 230 and the second penetration protrusion 130 contact or meet each other, a hole 611 penetrating the plurality of metal materials 610 may be formed. In this case, the pushed portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 may move around the first penetration protrusion 230.

[0085] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, it is possible to form the hole 611 penetrating through the plurality of metal materials 610. Furthermore, even when the hole 611 penetrating through the plurality of metal materials 610 is formed, the slice 612 is not generated.

[0086] Fig.15 2 is a diagram showing a first penetration protrusion 230 of a welding machine according to yet another embodiment of the present disclosure. Figures 12 to 15 , the welding head 200 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a groove 211 formed around the first penetration protrusion 230. The groove 211 may be formed in the body 210 of the welding head 200. The groove 211 may be formed upward. The groove 211 may be formed around the first penetration protrusion 230 or adjacent to the first penetration protrusion 230. In addition, the groove 211 may extend along the circumference of the first penetration protrusion 230. The groove 211 may be formed in a circle around the first penetration protrusion 230.

[0087] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 pushed by the first penetration protrusion 230 and the second penetration protrusion 130 can move along the surface of the first penetration protrusion 230 and can be accommodated in the groove 211. Since the plurality of metal materials 610 are accommodated in the groove 211, the plurality of metal materials 610 can be separated from other parts of the welding machine. Therefore, due to the plurality of metal materials 610 being pushed, welding defects or errors can be prevented.

[0088] Reference Figures 12 to 15, the welding head 200 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may be configured to form a protrusion 613 around the hole 611 of the plurality of metal materials 610. A portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 pushed by the first penetration protrusion 230 and the second penetration protrusion 130 may be accommodated in the groove 211. Therefore, the protrusion 613 may be formed along the circumference of the hole 611 penetrating the plurality of metal materials 610. That is, the groove 211 may be used to form the protrusion 613.

[0089] According to such a configuration of the present disclosure, the processor can determine whether welding has been successful by detecting the protrusion 613. Since the processor detects the protrusion 613 and the hole 611 penetrating the plurality of metal materials 610, the accuracy of determining the welding quality can be improved.

[0090] Reference Figures 12 to 15 The welding head 200 of the welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a stopper 212. The stopper 212 may be formed on the body 210 and may protrude downward from the body 210. The stopper 212 may be formed along the circumference of the groove 211. The stopper 212 may extend to surround the groove 211. The stopper 212 may be formed in a circular shape surrounding the groove 211 or the first penetrating protrusion 230.

[0091] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, a portion of the plurality of metal materials 610 pushed by the first penetration protrusion 230 and the second penetration protrusion 130 can move along the surface of the first penetration protrusion 230 and can be accommodated in the groove 211. The stopper 212 can limit the wide spread of the plurality of metal materials 610. In addition, the stopper 212 can guide the plurality of metal materials 610 to be stably accommodated in the groove 211. Since the plurality of metal materials 610 are accommodated in the groove 211, the plurality of metal materials 610 can be separated from other parts of the welding machine. Therefore, due to the plurality of metal materials 610 being pushed, welding defects or failures can be prevented.

[0092] Fig.16 is a diagram showing a welding machine according to yet another embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig.16 The second penetration protrusion 130a of the welding machine according to another embodiment of the present disclosure may be configured to be replaceable. The second penetration protrusion 130a may be detachably coupled or fastened to the receiving portion 111 of the anvil 100.

[0093] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, the durability of the welding machine can be improved. Since the second penetration protrusion 130a contacts or rubs against the first penetration protrusion 230, the second penetration protrusion 130a may wear faster than other parts of the welding machine. When the second penetration protrusion 130a is worn, the hole 611 may not be formed smoothly, and the reliability of determining whether the welding has been successful may be reduced. However, since the second penetration protrusion 130a can be replaced, the maintenance of the welding machine can be facilitated.

[0094] Fig.17 is a diagram showing an example of inspecting welding quality by a welding machine according to yet another embodiment of the present disclosure. Fig.17 The welding machine according to the embodiment of the present disclosure may further include a visual sensor 300 configured to detect the hole 611. The visual sensor 300 may detect the hole 611 formed in the plurality of metal materials 610 through the first penetrating protrusion 230 and the second penetrating protrusion 130. The visual sensor 300 may detect whether the hole 611 is penetrated. Fig.17 As shown in (a) of FIG. 5 , the processor may determine that a welding defect exists when the hole 611 does not penetrate the plurality of metal materials 610. Fig.17 As shown in (b), the processor can determine that welding has been successful when the hole 611 penetrates the plurality of metal materials 610.

[0095] According to this configuration of the present disclosure, it is possible to quickly and accurately determine whether welding has been successful.

[0096] The battery cell 600 according to an aspect of the present disclosure may include a plurality of metal materials 610 welded by the welding machine of the present disclosure. Specifically, the plurality of metal materials 610 welded by the welding machine of the present disclosure may be a plurality of electrode tabs 610.
