AI Technical Summary
Existing thermal insulation compositions, such as those using cellulose wadding or glass wool, face challenges in mechanical durability and thickness maintenance, particularly when applied to low floors and ERP panels, where they may not provide sufficient support or long-term stability.
A dry or wet composition combining bulk cellulose wadding with a lower quantity of mineral wool, along with a biosourced binder, which allows for projectable insulation while achieving mechanical stability and sufficient thickness, meeting the requirements of standard NF-EN16575.
The composition provides a mechanically stable and long-lasting thermal insulation coating with a thickness of at least 10 cm, suitable for low floors and ERP panels, while maintaining biosourced credentials.

Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: COMPOSITION FOR INSULATION AND FIRE PROTECTION, FOR EXAMPLE OF LOW FLOORS AND SLAB UNDERFACES IN ERP AND RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS. Technical field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a thermally insulating dry or powdery composition, as well as to a moistened composition based on such a thermally insulating dry composition. The present invention finally also relates to Technical background
[0002] It is known to those skilled in the art to use cellulose wadding (in thermal insulation compositions. It is an insulating material derived from the recycling of newspaper (manufacturing waste, unsold items from publishing companies, or old newspapers from household and business consumption). The newspapers are ground and reduced to flakes, then treated with additives (boron salt or ammonium salt for example) for example to provide flame retardant, fungicidal and repellent properties. Typically, in this type of composition, the proportion of wadding is 85% recycled newspapers and that of additives 15%.
[0003] According to the European terminology standard NF-EN16575, such compositions are considered bio-sourced compositions (more than 70% bio-sourced material). However, the coatings obtained by spraying onto walls from these compositions have the disadvantage of not having sufficient mechanical strength, particularly over time (the coating falls off after a few minutes). In addition, cellulose wadding cannot currently be laid on the underside of a floor in sufficient thickness.
[0004] If, instead of cellulose wadding, glass wool is used, which is an excellent thermal and sound insulator, the result is a coating with good mechanical strength, which does not collapse over time. Even if the European Commission confirms that glass wool products do not contain carcinogenic substances and that glass wool fibers do not cause cancer, this material has the disadvantage of causing irritation when in contact with the skin. In addition, when handling loose glass wool in the form of small particles, these, when inhaled, can settle in the user's body and, in the long term, cause damage to their respiratory tract. Summary of the invention
[0005] In order to overcome this drawback, while complying with the requirements of STANDARD NF-EN16575, the Applicant has developed a composition in which a loose-sourced insulation such as cellulose wadding is combined with a smaller quantity of mineral wool, so that the composition remains sprayable while still making it possible to obtain a coating with sufficient support.
[0006] The subject of the invention is therefore a dry thermal insulation composition comprising a bulk biosourced insulation, mineral wool, and a biosourced binder.
[0007] For the purposes of the present application, mineral wool means glass or rock wool.
[0008] Such a composition according to the invention constitutes a product which can be sprayed, meeting the requirements of standard NF-EN16575. Mineral wool is currently sprayable but does not benefit from the biosourced label.
[0009] As a bulk bio-sourced insulation that can be used in the context of the present invention, mention may in particular be made of cellulose wadding and / or natural fibers.
[0010] For the purposes of the present application, natural fibers are understood to mean wood, cotton, hemp fibers (without this list being limiting), and their mixtures.
[0011] Preferably, the dry thermal insulation composition according to the invention may comprise, for 12 parts by weight of said composition: 1 to 3 parts by weight of cellulose wadding and / or natural fibers, 2 to 9 parts by weight of glass or rock wool, and 2 to 7 parts by weight of biosource binder.
[0012] Advantageously, the bio-sourced binder may be a cellulose glue.
[0013] The dry thermal insulation composition according to the invention can be sprayed by blowing, in particular into unused attics, using a carding machine (without water).
[0014] The present invention therefore relates to the use of the dry thermal insulation composition according to the invention for application by blowing, in particular in unused attics, using a carding machine, as well as the coating thus obtained.
[0015] The present invention also relates to a wet thermal insulation composition capable of being sprayed, in particular by pneumatic spraying, said wet composition comprising: for 1 kg of said dry thermal insulation composition according to the invention, 0.3 l to 1 liter of water, and preferably 0.5 liter of water.
[0016] The present invention also relates to the use of the wet thermal insulation composition according to the invention for application by projection, in particular pneumatic, on the underside of a floor (whether vertical or horizontal).
[0017] Finally, the present invention also relates to the coating thus obtained. Thanks to the particular composition of the dry composition (or the wet composition), the coating thus formed has a thickness of at least 10 cm or even 13 cm. cm at least, which is maintained sustainably.
[0018] The dry and wet thermal insulation compositions according to the invention are intended to be used for the insulation and fire protection of low floors and slab undersides for establishments open to the public (commonly designated by the acronym ERP) and residential buildings. Brief description of the figures
[0019] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear during the reading of the detailed description which follows for the understanding of which reference will be made to the appended drawings in which:
[0020] [Fig.l] - [Fig.l] is a photograph showing the wet composition of thermal insulation according to the invention (comprising in particular a mixture of gray cellulose wadding and glass wool (white) in a pneumatic projection machine, just before its projection onto a wall;
[0021] [Fig.2] - [Fig.2] is a photograph showing a coating obtained by pneumatic projection of the wet composition according to the invention (in gray in the photograph), and right next to this coating according to the invention, a coating obtained by pneumatic projection of a wet composition composed solely of glass wool (in white in the photograph). Detailed description of the invention
[0022] [Fig.l] shows the wet thermal insulation composition according to the invention (comprising in particular a mixture of grey cellulose wadding and glass wool (white) in a pneumatic spraying machine, in particular that marketed by the company ISOL INTERNATIONAL (registered trademark) under the brand name FINISH (registered trademark), which is particularly suitable for spraying the wet composition according to the invention.
[0023] [Fig. 2] shows that the coating according to the invention, which is therefore a coating that can be described as biosourced within the meaning of the standard, does not present any difference in terms of mechanical strength compared to a coating obtained from a composition composed essentially of glass wool.
