Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for qualifying a plurality of specimens comprising a wire and at least one crimped element, and corresponding method Field of invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for qualifying a plurality of specimens, each of the specimens comprising a wire and at least one element crimped onto the wire.
[0002] The invention also relates to a test method implementing such a device. State of the art
[0003] In this context, a specimen corresponds to a type of wire associated on the one hand with a type of element crimped on a wire, such as a terminal, a ferrule, a coaxial or triaxial contact, and on the other hand with a crimping tool, such as pliers with given jaws.
[0004] The qualification of crimping is of particular importance in industry. In the field of pressurized water nuclear reactors, it is, for example, governed by the RCC-E standard (Rules for the Design and Construction of Electrical Equipment for Nuclear Islands) of 2019. The RCC-E 2019 refers to the following sequence of electrical tests and is carried out in accordance with the requirements of § 5.3.2.3.2 of the IEC 60352-2 standard: • Contact resistance, • Cyclic current charge, • Contact resistance
[0005] This standard provides for two electrical resistance measurements per specimen, one between the crimped element and the wire, and the other between two points of the wire, in order in particular to evaluate the contact resistance between the crimped element and the wire. If the specimen is double, that is to say if it comprises two elements crimped respectively at the two ends of the wire, the number of resistance measurements is therefore four.
[0006] The standard further requires, for each specimen, to carry out the resistance measurements a first time, then to pass a higher charging current through the specimen, and then to carry out the resistance measurements a second time. In addition, the implementation of the 2019 RCC-E standard requires precision and repeatability of the tests.
[0007] In the nuclear field, the number of possible specimens can be in the hundreds. Qualification tests for crimping specimens are therefore complex and tedious. There is currently no satisfactory solution for carrying them out. simpler and faster way.
[0008] An aim of the invention is therefore to facilitate the qualification of crimping specimens. Summary of the invention

[Fig.5] represents for example the HMI (human-machine interface) strip of the test means. Description of an assembly according to the invention
[0040] With reference to Figures 1 and 2, an assembly 10 according to the invention is described.
[0041] The assembly 10 comprises a device 12 ([Fig.l]) for qualifying a plurality of specimens 14 (visible in FIGS. 2 and 3), and one or more measuring devices 16 (FIGS. 1, 2 and 5) external to the device, in the example of portable voltmeters.
[0042] As a variant (not shown), the measuring devices 16 are integrated into the device 12, and are then internal to the device.
[0043] By “qualification device” is meant a device which facilitates this qualification, but which does not necessarily include all the elements involved in this qualification, such as for example the measuring devices 14. Specimens to be tested
[0044] The specimens 14 (figures 2 and 3) comprise a wire 18 and at least one element 20, such as a terminal, a ferrule, a coaxial or triaxial contact, the element 20 being crimped onto the wire. In the example, the specimens 14 are “double”, that is to say they comprise two elements 20, 22 located at two ends of the wire. The specimens 14 possibly differ from each other by the type of wire 18, element(s) 20, 22 or by the crimping method, in particular the crimping tool used, such as pliers.
[0045] The qualification of the specimens 14 consists of carrying out certain electrical tests to determine whether these specimens satisfy certain criteria, for example those defined by the RCC-E standard of 2019.
[0046] The specimens 14 to be tested are located in a plurality of locations 24 defined by the device 12, for example parallel to each other. The specimens 14 for example all extend in the same longitudinal direction L. The specimens 14 for example form a row 26 in a transverse direction T perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L.
[0047] The longitudinal direction L and the transverse direction T are for example substantially horizontal when the device 12 rests on a horizontal surface S such as the floor of a laboratory (not shown).
[0048] Each of the wires 18 has, for example, four stripped intermediate portions 18A, 18B, 18C, 18D, each advantageously extending a little more than 10 mm longitudinally. The four intermediate portions 18A to 18D and the elements 20, 22 are intended to form contact points for the tests.
[0049] Due to their bare intermediate portions, the specimens 14 are not intended for use after their qualification. The qualification serves to indicate that connecting wires (not shown) corresponding to a given specimen 14 having successfully passed the qualification are suitable for service. Device
[0050] The device 12 comprises a test area 28 (Figures 1 and 2) forming the locations 24 respectively intended to receive the specimens 14 to be tested, the specimens being intended to remain in the locations during the test. The device 12 comprises a programmable current source 30, and an electrical circuit 32 adapted to electrically connect the locations 24 to the current source 30. Advantageously, the device 12 comprises a control panel 34 (Figures 1 and 5) to facilitate the use of the device.
[0051] In the example, the device 12 comprises a chassis 36, advantageously equipped with wheels 38, on which the test zone 28, the current source 30, and the control panel 34 are fixed, for example in the form of compartments 40 advantageously superimposed in a vertical direction V. The device 12 thus forms a mobile test bench, which can advantageously be moved in a building (not shown) or between two buildings.
[0052] According to variants not shown, the compartments 40 are arranged in arrangements other than vertical superposition.
[0053] Still in the example, the device 12 comprises a cover 42 adapted to cover the test zone 28, so as to prevent untimely mechanical or electrical contact between an object or a user (not shown) and the specimens 14 or the locations 24 during qualification.
[0054] Advantageously, the device 12 comprises a ventilation plate 44 located between the control panel 34 and the test zone 28. In the example, the device 12 comprises a socket rack 46 and an electrical distribution compartment 48 located between the current source 30 and the control panel 34, as well as a storage drawer 50, for example located under the current source.
[0055] The cover 42 is for example transparent, and is advantageously made of poly(methyl methacrylate). The cover 42 advantageously comprises lateral openings 52 allowing air circulation in the test zone 28.
[0056] The cover 42 is for example rotatably mounted on the chassis 36 and jacks (not shown) make it possible to keep the cover 42 open when the specimens 14 are placed. Test area and locations
[0057] In the example, the test area 28 is located at an upper end 54 of the device 12, so that an operator can easily place the specimens 14 to be tested there, then remove them after the test.
[0058] In the example, the test zone 28 forms a rectangular and substantially horizontal plateau.
[0059] Alternatively, the test zone 28 has a different shape, and / or a possible inclination.
[0060] The test zone 28 comprises for example a support 56 made of electrically insulating material, for example polyoxymethylene.
[0061] In the example, the locations 24 are structurally identical to each other.
[0062] Each of the locations 24 comprises two end electrical contacts 58A, 58B belonging to the electrical circuit 32 and adapted to be in contact with two ends 61A, 61B of one of the specimens 14, these ends being formed in the example by the two elements 20, 22. Each of the locations 24 comprises for example four intermediate electrical contacts 58C, 58D, 58E, 58F adapted to be in contact with the intermediate portions 18A, 18B, 18C, 18D of one of the specimens 14. Each of the locations 24 advantageously comprises three fixing members 60A, 60B, 60C adapted to hold the wire 18 of one of the specimens 14, advantageously in a predetermined position relative to the test zone 28.
[0063] According to a variant not shown, for example if the specimens 14 are “simple” specimens, with a single crimped element, the ends 61A, 61B of the specimens in contact with the end contacts are formed by the single element and by a stripped portion of wire. In this case, there is for example only one intermediate contact, and one or two fixing members.
[0064] In the example, the intermediate electrical contacts 58C, 58F are spaced from the end contacts 58A, 58B by 50 mm in the longitudinal direction L, and the intermediate electrical contacts 58D, 58E are spaced 100 mm from the intermediate electrical contacts 58C, 58D. The two central intermediate electrical contacts 58D, 58E are separated by a distance of at least 150 mm.
[0065] The fixing members 60A, 60B, 60C are advantageously clamps adapted to close on the wire, for example of the PANDUIT FCM1-S6-C14 type Electrical contacts in the locations
[0066] Advantageously, the end electrical contacts 58A, 58B and the intermediate electrical contacts 58C, 58D, 58E and 58F are structurally identical to each other.
[0067] As visible in [Fig. 4], the end electrical contacts 58A, 58B and the intermediate electrical contacts 58C, 58D, 58E and 58F comprise for example at least two bars 62, adapted to be located on either side of one of the specimens 14 in a tightening direction SI for example substantially vertical. The end electrical contacts and the intermediate electrical contacts include a system 64 for bringing the two bars 62 closer to each other in the tightening direction SI, for example two bolts 64A, 64B.
[0068] The bars 62 are for example made of tinned copper, and advantageously extend in the transverse direction T.
[0069] The bars 62 are for example tightened on the wire 18 or the elements 20, 22 with a tightening torque of 1 Nm. Power source
[0070] The current source 30 is adapted to deliver a current I adjustable in intensity in the electrical circuit 32, for example in a range of 0.5 to 40 A, and advantageously according to one or more predetermined time patterns which will be explained later. down.
[0071] Advantageously, the current source 30 is intrinsically mobile between a first power supply configuration, in which the current source is adapted to deliver a current in a first direction i1 in the electrical circuit 32, and a second power supply configuration, in which the current source is intended to deliver a current in a second direction i2 opposite to the first direction.
[0072] Alternatively, an inverter circuit (not shown) connecting the current source 30 to the electrical circuit 32 makes it possible to obtain this functionality.
[0073] The current source 30 is for example of the EA-PSI 9080-60A 2U type. Electrical circuit
[0074] The electrical circuit 32 is partly diagrammatically shown in [Fig. 2] showing the test area 28, and also more fully in [Fig. 5] showing the control panel 34, which includes a visual representation 65 of the electrical circuit 32. For convenience, the same reference numerals are used to designate parts of the electrical circuit 32 in [Fig. 2] and corresponding parts of the visual representation 65 of the electrical circuit 32 in [Fig. 5].
[0075] The electrical circuit 32 comprises a plurality of contactors C2 to C20 (numbered in ascending order from left to right in [Fig.2]) adapted to be open or closed and to define, in combination with each other, a plurality of configurations of the electrical circuit comprising configurations of a first type, and advantageously a configuration of a second type.
[0076] In the configurations of the first type, only one of the locations 24 is selectively electrically connected to the current source 30. The other locations 24 are disconnected from the current source 30, and only one of the specimens 14 is intended to be traversed by a current. This makes it possible to test each of the specimens 14 individually, for example by resistance measurements between the contact points.
[0077] In the configuration of the second type, all the locations 24 are connected in series to the current source 30, and all the specimens 14 are intended to be traversed in series by a current, for example according to advantageously preprogrammed cycles. This makes it possible to simulate use of the specimens 14, with periods of heating by Joule effect when a current passes, and periods of cooling when the current is zero.
[0078] For example, the electrical circuit 32 comprises a first main branch 32A and a second main branch 32B electrically connected to two terminals 66A, 66B of the current source 30 respectively, the locations 24 being connected, in parallel with each other, to the first main branch 32A and to the second main branch 32B.
[0079] The plurality of contactors C2 to C20 comprises for example a first group of contactors C2, C4, C6 ... C19 located respectively between the locations 24 and the second main branch 32B. As will be seen, the first group of contactors makes it possible to obtain the configurations of the first type.
[0080] The plurality of contactors C2 to C20 advantageously comprises a second group of contactors C3, C5, C7 ... C19 located in the first main branch 32A and in the second main branch 32B. The contactors of the second group are adapted, when they are all open and the contactors of the first group are all closed, to define an “S” shaped path 68 via all the locations 24, and alternately the first main branch 32A and the second main branch 32B. This path 68 is adapted to pass in series a current, coming from one of the two terminals 66A, 66B of the current source, in all the specimens, from a first 14A of the specimens 14 to a last 14B of the specimens 14. The electrical circuit 32 then also comprises a return branch 32C ([Fig. 5]) intended to electrically connect the last 14B of the specimens 14 to the other of the two terminals 66A, 66B of the current source 32, and a selector C21 ([Fig.5]) to selectively connect the second main branch 32B or the return branch 32C to the other of the two terminals 66A, 66B.
[0081] The configuration of the second type is thus obtained when the contactors C3, C5 ... C19 of the second group are open, the contactors C2, C4 ... C20 of the first group are closed, and the return branch 32C is connected to the other of the two terminals 66A, 66B.
[0082] Those skilled in the art will understand that the above is only an example of architecture for the electrical circuit 32. The invention is not limited to this particular architecture. Control Panel
[0083] The control panel 34 is for example located on a front side face 70 of the device 12 ([Fig.l]). By “front” is meant the side where the operator is intended to stand when carrying out the tests.
[0084] As visible in [Fig.5], in correspondence with the visual representation of the electrical circuit 32, the control panel 34 comprises a plurality of switches SW2 to SW20 adapted to respectively control the contactors C2 to C20 and to switch the electrical circuit 32 from any one configuration of said plurality of configurations to any other.
[0085] The control panel 34 comprises, for example, a plurality of female plugs 72 respectively connected to the electrical contacts 58A to 58F of the locations 24, in order to allow the connection of the measuring devices 16.
[0086] The control panel 34 advantageously comprises a suitable switch SW 1 to selectively switch the power source 30 between the first power configuration and the second configuration (under i1 or i2 of the current).
[0087] The control panel 34 also includes a switch SW21 for actuating the selector C21 (which selects the second main branch 32B or the return branch 32C). How the whole thing works
[0088] The operation of the assembly 10 will now be described, in particular to illustrate a qualification method according to the invention.
[0089] First, the specimens 14 to be tested are placed in the locations 24 of the test zone 28 (Figures 2 and 3). In the example, for each of the specimens 14, the two elements 20, 22 are wedged respectively in the end contacts 58A, 58B. The intermediate portions 18A to 18D are wedged in the electrical contacts 58C to 58F. The fixing members 60A to 60C advantageously hold the wire 18 in a predetermined position relative to the test zone 28. The wire 18 is advantageously straight.
[0090] To wedge the specimens 14, they are placed between the two bars 62 of each of the electrical contacts 58A to 58F and the upper bar 62 is brought closer to the lower bar 62 using the bolts 64A, 64B. The specimens 14 remain in the locations 24 for the entire duration of the tests during which the specimens are subjected to certain electrical currents and electrical measurements starting on the specimens 14 are carried out.
[0091] Then, in a first phase, the electrical circuit 32 is placed in one of the configurations of the first type, which amounts to choosing one of the locations 24. In the example, the switches SW3, SW5 ... SW19 are acted upon to close all the contactors C3, C5 ... C19 of the second group and only one of the contactors C2, C4 ... C20 of the first group corresponding to the specimen 14 considered is selectively closed. The selector C21 is placed in a position such that the second main branch 32B is connected to the terminal 66B of the current source 30.
[0092] The measuring devices 16 are connected to the plugs 72 of the control panel 34 corresponding to the location 24 of the specimen 14 considered. The locations are for example numbered SP1 to SP10 on the control panel 34.
[0093] Alternatively, in the absence of the control panel 34, the measuring devices 16 are connected for example directly to the location 24.
[0094] A current is passed through the specimen 14 concerned, for example in the direction 11. The current has for example an intensity of 1.0 A / mm2 of cross-section of the wire 18. Four voltages U1, U2, U3, U4 are then measured as shown in [Fig.5]. Knowing the intensity of the current, the electrical resistances between the electrical contact extremal 58A and the intermediate electrical contact 58C, and between the intermediate electrical contact 58C and the intermediate electrical contact 58D, and, symmetrically on the other side of specimen 14, between the extremal electrical contact 58B and the intermediate electrical contact 58F, and between the intermediate electrical contact 58F and the intermediate electrical contact 58E. This makes it possible in particular to obtain the contact resistance at the level of the elements 20, 22, as required for example by the RCC-E standard of 2019.
[0095] If the measuring devices 16 are internal to the device 12, the measured voltages U1 to U4 are displayed for example on the control panel 34.
[0096] The above operations are advantageously also carried out by passing the current in the second direction i2 for each of the specimens 14.
[0097] These operations are carried out for example successively on all the specimens 14 to be tested.
[0098] Then, in a second phase, the electrical circuit 32 is advantageously placed in the configuration of the second type. In the example, the switches SW3, SW5 ... SW 19 are acted upon to open all the contactors C3, C5 ... C19 of the second group and all the contactors of the first group C2, C4 ... C20 are closed. The selector C21 is placed in a position such that the return branch 32C is connected to the terminal 66B of the current source 30. A current is passed through the "S" path 68 in all the specimens 14 in series. This current is for example 4.0 A / mm2 of wire section 18 advantageously for 45 minutes, then zero for 15 min for example. This current profile is repeated for 20 hours in order to simulate use of the specimens 14.
[0099] If the electrical circuit 30 does not have a configuration of the second type, each of the specimens 14 can be successively subjected to the above current profile using the configurations of the first type. The advantage of the configuration of the second type is to do this simultaneously.
[0100] Then, in a third phase, the operations of the first phase are advantageously repeated, to check that there is not too significant a change in the contact resistances obtained.
[0101] Thanks to the characteristics of the device 12 described above, in particular the plurality of configurations of the electrical circuit 32, the qualification of the specimens 14 is facilitated. The device 12 makes it possible to qualify, for example, ten double specimens 14, which amounts to processing twenty single specimens. The device 12 ensures good reproducibility of the results, while offering good ergonomics and safety for the user.
[0102] The configuration of the second type allows in particular a significant saving of time, by simultaneously subjecting all the specimens 14 to a current profile (called "cycling").
