[0001] SHOOTING DATA DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FOOTBALL
[0002] GAME
[0003] Technical Area
[0004] This invention relates to a system and method for the sport of football (soccer), which detects the relevant data of player movements with the ball, shooting of the ball, and the way the ball goes to the goal area.
[0005] Previous Technique
[0006] Football is the most popular sport worldwide. Football techniques may generally be categorized under two headings; body techniques with and without the ball. Technical skills with the ball consist of ball control, passes, crosses, dribbling, tackling, headers, shots, comer kicks, free kicks and throw-ins. Data of the player and the team derived from matches and trainings are vital for the evaluation of the game, the team and the player performance. The most important of these data are the data of shooting by the player and the data of the accuracy of the shot due to the fact that they have a direct effect on the score.
[0007] In the current landscape of sports analytics, there are numerous systems for measuring football player data in a match or training session. There is also a plethora of methods for measuring team and individual performances in football. These include the voice observation method, the paper and pencil method, the video analysis method, the computer-controlled video analysis method, video editing, the video tracking technique, and sensor technology. The common thread among the programs mentioned here is that they enable the measurement of team performance in team training and matches, as well as individual performance. When measuring individual performance, different criteria are evaluated, including tactical knowledge and discipline, area and perimeter control, physical endurance, running distance, double tackle winning rate, accurate passing rate, accurate shooting rate, positioning and scoring rate. Some of these criteria are automatically determined through the program, while in the shooting training system, it is also possible to automatically determine by whom, at what distance, at what speed and with which foot the shot is taken, without support personnel.
[0008] The programs in the current technique are used for shooting training purposes. However, they lack the ability to receive instant automatic data and do not provide the level of detail required for accurate shooting analysis. Furthermore, the programs in the current technique necessitate the involvement of additional personnel.
