Abstract
Description
A normal temperature dyeing method and dyed product obtained thereby Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a dyeing method for textiles, and more particularly to a normal temperature dyeing method and a dyed product obtained thereby. Background Art
[0002] Textiles are indispensable to human life. China's textile industry accounts for 5% of GDP and provides over 80 million jobs, making it crucial to the national economy. For both aesthetics and practical applications, textiles are often dyed in a variety of colors before being sold and used. Printing and dyeing are a crucial component of the textile industry. However, textile printing and dyeing is energy-intensive and highly polluting, consuming over 70 million tons of standard coal annually. China also emits 2.1 to 2.3 billion tons of printing and dyeing wastewater annually, accounting for 11% of national wastewater emissions.
[0003] The printing and dyeing industry is a high-energy, high-pollution industry because of the principles of traditional printing and dyeing technology. Traditional printing and dyeing technology mainly uses three principles to dye textiles: 1. Dyeing textiles through the addition reaction of dyes and textiles. The typical process is to use reactive dyes to dye cotton. Because cotton is composed of cellulose, the hydroxyl groups on cellulose can react with the reactive groups on the reactive dyes (such as chloronitrile groups), thereby binding the reactive dyes to the cotton and dyeing the cotton. This reaction mechanism determines that it is a high-temperature reaction process, usually requiring several hours of reaction at 90 degrees Celsius. Salt, alkali and other additives need to be added. The final reaction efficiency can only reach about 70%. Therefore, salt, alkali and other additives and a large amount of unreacted dye will eventually enter the wastewater. Therefore, the reaction mechanism of reactive dyes makes the dyeing process energy-intensive and highly polluting. 2. Dyeing through electrostatic attraction between the dye and the textile. A typical process involves dyeing silk, wool, nylon, and other textiles using acid dyes. Because the surfaces of textiles like silk, wool, and nylon are positively charged, while the acid dyes are negatively charged, electrostatic attraction allows the acid dyes to be attached to the textiles, dyeing them. However, electrostatic attraction is slow, requires heating, and is inefficient, ultimately leading to unattached dye entering the wastewater. 3. Dyeing through physical adsorption of dye molecules into textile fibers. A typical process involves dyeing polyester using disperse dyes. Because polyester is chemically stable and difficult to react, the polyester fibers must be expanded at temperatures above 120°C before the disperse dye, with its smaller particles, is introduced into the fibers to achieve color. This dyeing process requires high temperatures, and a large amount of unattached dye enters the wastewater. In summary, the reaction mechanism of traditional dyeing and printing processes results in high energy consumption and high pollution. Therefore, to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction in the printing and dyeing industry, it is necessary to innovate from the fundamental perspective of reaction mechanism, and use a new reaction mechanism to color textiles, thereby achieving energy conservation and emission reduction and industrial upgrading in the printing and dyeing industry.
[0004] Summary of the Invention
[0005] In order to solve the dilemma of high energy consumption and high pollution in traditional textile printing and dyeing processes, the present invention provides a room temperature dyeing method and a dyed product obtained thereby.
[0006] According to the room-temperature dyeing method of the present invention, it includes providing a textile, an organic dye containing a carbon-carbon double bond functional group, an organic monomer containing a carbon-carbon double bond functional group, and an organic crosslinking agent containing at least two carbon-carbon double bond functional groups, generating active free radicals on the textile by ionizing radiation, and the active free radicals on the textile subsequently triggering graft polymerization and crosslinking of the carbon-carbon double bond functional groups on the organic dye, the organic monomer, and the organic crosslinking agent, thereby fixing the organic dye to the textile through covalent bonds to achieve textile coloring.
[0007] The basic principle of the present invention is to use ionizing radiation to induce the free radical addition polymerization reaction of carbon-carbon double bond functional groups generated on the textile, thereby covalently bonding the grafted chain of the organic dye containing the carbon-carbon double bond functional group to the textile, so that the organic dye is bound to the textile and the textile is colored. Because the molecular weight of organic dyes is generally relatively large, the graft polymerization reaction of organic dyes containing carbon-carbon double bond functional groups alone will have a large steric hindrance, affecting the growth of the grafted chain and the utilization rate of the dye. Therefore, it is necessary to add an organic monomer containing carbon-carbon double bond functional groups that can form a linear polymer chain to co-graft with the organic dye, so that the organic dye is strung together to form a grafted chain with the linear polymer chain. At the same time, the present invention also adds an organic crosslinking agent containing at least two carbon-carbon double bond functional groups to form a crosslinked network structure of the grafted chain, which can significantly improve the efficiency of the graft polymerization reaction, the utilization rate of the organic dye, and the bonding strength of the organic dye to the textile.
[0008] In particular, the energy of ionizing radiation is 5 to 6 orders of magnitude higher than the bond energy of conventional chemical bonds. Therefore, through the attack of ionizing radiation, active free radicals can be generated on the surface of almost all types of organic polymer materials (so the present invention is applicable to all types of textile fabrics). The active free radicals are then used to initiate the addition polymerization of organic monomers containing carbon-carbon double bonds. Organic monomers with different functional groups (such as chromophores that can give textiles color) can be firmly bound to the material surface through covalent bonds. This process can be operated at room temperature, and the energy conversion efficiency is much higher than that of reactions initiated by heating. By adding an organic cross-linking agent containing at least two carbon-carbon double bond functional groups, the reaction efficiency can even be increased to 100%, and almost no waste emissions are generated.

[0113] Effect Example 1
[0114] The dyeing effects of the samples in Examples 1 to 4 are shown in FIG1 : the four samples in the first row are white, light gray, dark gray, and black textiles prepared in Example 1; the four samples in the second row are light-to-dark red textiles prepared in Example 2; the four samples in the third row are light-to-dark yellow textiles prepared in Example 3; and the four samples in the fourth row are light-to-dark blue textiles prepared in Example 4.
[0115] From this, we can conclude that by adjusting the concentration ratio of red, yellow, and blue dyes, a range of textiles dyed from light to dark in the four basic colors of black, red, yellow, and blue can be produced. In other words, by adjusting the dye concentration and irradiation conditions, textiles can be dyed in different shades, from light gray to dark black, from light red to dark red, from light yellow to dark yellow, and from light blue to dark blue, with uniform color.
[0116] The dyeing results prove that the room-temperature dyeing method for textiles provided by the present invention can achieve a relatively comprehensive color spectrum dyeing of a single color (including black and the three primary colors of red, yellow and blue) from light to dark on textiles.
[0117] Effect Example 2
[0118] In the above-mentioned Examples 5 to 7, the dyeing effects of red-yellow, red-blue, and yellow-blue mixed dyes in different proportions on textiles are shown in Figure 2: the five samples in the first row are textiles ranging from reddish brown to orange obtained by adjusting different proportions of red and yellow dyes in Example 5 (the proportion of red component gradually decreases and the proportion of yellow component gradually increases from left to right), the five samples in the second row are textiles ranging from ochre to bluish purple obtained by adjusting different proportions of red and blue dyes in Example 6 (the proportion of red component gradually decreases and the proportion of blue component gradually increases from left to right), and the five samples in the third row are textiles ranging from lake green to peacock blue obtained by adjusting different proportions of yellow and blue dyes in Example 7 (the proportion of yellow component gradually decreases and the proportion of blue component gradually increases from left to right).
[0119] From this, it can be concluded that, based on the principle of three-primary color mixing, by adjusting the ratios of the three primary dyes, the method of the present invention can produce textiles with a relatively complete color spectrum. In other words, according to the room-temperature dyeing method of the present invention, textiles can be dyed with mixed dyes of red-yellow, red-blue, and yellow-blue in different ratios, resulting in uniform colors that conform to the color gradation spectrum obtained by adjusting the ratios of the three primary colors in the three-primary color system.
[0120] The dyeing results prove that the room-temperature dyeing method for textiles provided by the present invention can obtain a rich and comprehensive color spectrum by adjusting the ratio of dyes of different colors, thereby realizing the printing and dyeing of textiles in different colors.
[0121] Effect Example 3
[0122] The dyed samples in Examples 1 to 4 were tested for color fastness to washing in accordance with the national standard GB / T 3921-2008 “Textiles — Tests for Color Fastness — Color Fastness to Washing”. The results are shown in Table 1 below.
[0123] Table 1 Test results of color fastness to washing of textiles of different colors
[0124] According to national standards, the color fastness to washing of textiles is classified into different grades, ranging from 1 to 5, with grade 1 being the worst and grade 5 being the best. Generally, textiles entering the market are required to have a color fastness to washing of grade 3 or higher. As shown in Table 2, the color fastness to washing of the 16 samples of different colors prepared in Examples 1 to 4 all exceeded grade 3, indicating that the dyed textiles prepared by the room-temperature dyeing method for textiles provided by the present invention have good color fastness to washing.
[0125] The dyed samples in Examples 1 to 4 were tested for color fastness to rubbing in accordance with the national standard GB / T 3920-2008 “Textiles—Tests for Color Fastness—Color Fastness to Rubbing”. The results of the dry rubbing color fastness test are shown in Table 2, and the results of the wet rubbing color fastness test are shown in Table 3.
[0126] Table 2 Test results of color fastness to dry rubbing of textiles of different colors
[0127] Table 3 Test results of color fastness to wet rubbing of textiles of different colors
[0128] According to national standards, the color fastness to washing of textiles is classified into different grades from 1 to 5, with grade 1 being the worst and grade 5 being the best. Generally, textiles entering the market are required to have both dry rubbing color fastness and wet rubbing color fastness of 3 or higher. As shown in Tables 2 and 3, the 16 samples of different colors prepared in Examples 1 to 4 all achieved dry rubbing color fastness and wet rubbing color fastness of 3 or higher, indicating that the dyed textiles prepared by the room-temperature dyeing method provided by the present invention have good color fastness to rubbing.
[0129] Effect Example 4
[0130] The COD value of the wastewater obtained during the sample preparation process of Examples 1 to 4 was tested using a multi-parameter water quality meter. The results are shown in Table 4.
[0131] Table 4 Test results of COD (ppm) of wastewater generated during dyeing process
[0132] As shown in Table 4, the COD values of the wastewater generated during the 16 different color samples prepared in Examples 1 to 4 were all below 150 ppm, which is below the internationally accepted ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Substances) standard for wastewater discharge. This demonstrates that the ambient temperature textile dyeing method provided by the present invention produces minimal wastewater pollution during the dyeing process, allowing for direct discharge.
[0133] It can be seen from the above-mentioned effect examples that the room-temperature dyeing method of textiles provided by the present invention can not only achieve dyeing of a rich color spectrum of textiles, but also achieve uniform colors and high color fastness. In addition, dyeing can be achieved at room temperature, and the wastewater pollution generated during the dyeing process is extremely small, thereby having a significant energy-saving and emission-reduction effect.
[0134] Because textile products are directly exposed to consumers, consumers have intuitive perceptions and corresponding requirements for textile color, feel, smell, color fastness, and other aspects. The room-temperature dyeing method of the present invention achieves irradiation processing of textiles without compromising the basic clothing properties of the textiles, and ensures that the final product meets consumers' intuitive perceptions and demands for textiles in various aspects. It can achieve room-temperature operation and low pollution emissions of textile dyeing without affecting the basic clothing properties of the textiles, such as the feel, and has practical application value.
[0135] The above description is merely a preferred embodiment of the present invention and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention. Various modifications are possible. In other words, any simple, equivalent changes and modifications made in accordance with the claims and description of the present invention are within the scope of protection of the patent claims. Anything not fully described in this invention constitutes conventional technology.
