Abstract
Description
MECHANISM FOR PROVIDING SAFETY TO A VEHICLEFIELD OF THE INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a safety mechanism for vehicles, and more specifically, to a mechanism that provides safety to a vehicle by reducing the shock experienced during an accident.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Background description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
[0003] Vehicle accidents often result in significant damage and injury due to the high impact forces involved. Conventional safety systems, such as airbags and seat belts, aim to protect the occupants of the vehicle. However, there is a need for improved safety mechanisms that can further reduce the impact forces and minimize the damage caused by accidents.
[0004] With the increasing number of automobiles and the rapid increase of the number of drivers, traffic accidents frequently occur. Besides being related to the driving technique of the driver, the factors causing the traffic accidents also include personal factors of the driver such as overspeed driving, inattention, blind area driving, line merging, fatigue driving, misoperation (mistaken taking an accelerator as a brake), and low-visibility driving in rainy days, foggy days and night. Therefore, the traffic safety is more and more emphasized.
[0005] In order to improve driving safety, some vehicles are additionally provided with safety auxiliary devices such as an automatic braking system, however, such safety auxiliary systems mostly need to intervene and change self systems such as an engine, a braking system and an electrical system of an original vehicle in aresearch process, so that the safety auxiliary systems can only be assembled by an automobile manufacturer before leaving a factory along with the vehicle, and are high in cost and poor in reliability.
[0006] For safety of passengers, the vehicles are provided with air-bags which protects a passenger during the accident, as illustarted in Fig. 1. Although, the airbags play a vital role in protecting the passengers, the air bags do not protect the vehicle from damage. The air bag does not reduce the momentum of the vehcile and impact of the vehcile during the accident. Specifically, the air bags do not absord the shock produced by the vehicle due to collision with other object. Impact on the passengers depends upon kinetic energy of the vehicle, i.e. reduced kinetic energy produces less harm to the passenger. The air bags do not reduce the kinetic energy of the vehicle during the accident.
[0007] Thus, there is a need of a mechanism of the vehcile which may overcome above-mentioned shortcomings of conventional approaches.SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Embodiments of the present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[0035] The present invention provides a mechanism for enhancing the safety of a vehicle by reducing the shock experienced during an accident. The mechanism comprises a plurality of heavy-duty pistons installed within the chassis of the vehicle. These heavy-duty pistons are designed to be pushed out upon detection of an accident, thereby reducing the impact forces.
[0036] A highly pressurized air cylinder is connected to the plurality of heavy-duty pistons. The air cylinder is configured to push the heavy-duty pistons upon detection of an accident, further enhancing the safety of the vehicle. One or more sensors are communicatively coupled with the air cylinder and are configured to detect the occurrence of an accident.
[0037] In one embodiment, the heavy-duty pistons are mounted beneath both sides of the vehicle's bonnet. This positioning ensures effective distribution of the impact forces and enhances the overall safety of the vehicle.
[0038] The sensors control the highly pressurized air cylinder to release the air at high pressure upon detecting an accident. This rapid release of pressurized air facilitates the quick deployment of the heavy-duty pistons, thereby reducing the shock experienced by the vehicle.
[0039] Upon detection of an accident, the heavy-duty pistons push out from the body of the vehicle. This action results in pushing the vehicle back, thereby reducing the impact of the accident and minimizing damage.
[0040] The initial position of the heavy-duty pistons is maintained using an elastic hook or a valve. This ensures that the heavy-duty pistons are ready for deployment when needed, while also providing stability during normal driving conditions.
[0041] The pressure required for the heavy-duty pistons is provided either through a compressor of the vehicle or an external pressure source installed in the vehicle. The dimension and pressure of the heavy-duty pistons can vary based on the type of vehicle and the average speed of the vehicle, providing flexibility and adaptability to different vehicle models.
[0042] The heavy-duty pistons can be activated at a force of at least 50 km / h, ensuring their deployment during high-impact accidents while remaining inactive during low-impact events.
[0043] To secure the heavy-duty pistons in the deployed position, an electromagnetic lock is employed. This lock ensures that the heavy-duty pistons remain extended and effectively reduce the momentum and kinetic energy during an accident.
[0044] Fig. 2 illustrates operation of a mechanism in case of occurrence of an accident, in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention. As illustrated in Fig- 2, a vehicle 202 may be moving on a road. During travelling, an accident may be occurred to the vehicle 202 with an object 204. For example, the vehicle 202 may collide with the object 204 while travelling. The object 204 may be any rigid material, such as another vehicle, a tree, and a road divider.
[0045] Automotive airbag apparatuses are now being widely used in modem automobiles as additional protection systems. For example, airbag apparatuses are used as a protection system for the driver of a motor vehicle, and are for this purpose preferably arranged in the steering wheel directly in front of the driver of the motor vehicle. Furthermore, airbag apparatuses are also used as a protection system for the passenger, and are preferably arranged in such a case in the dashboard in front of the passenger seat near the glove compartment. It is also a known practice to attach airbag apparatuses in the lower region of the dashboard in front of the driver's seat and the passenger seat, thereby protecting the knees and lower legs of the driver and passenger in the event of an accident.
[0046] As further supplemental protection systems, airbag apparatuses are also used for lateral protection of passengers of a motor vehicle to protect the head and thorax of a passenger in the event of a side impact or vehicle rollover. For this purpose, airbag apparatuses are mounted, for example, in the outwardly-facing side region of the backrest of the driver's seat and / or the passenger seat, or they are arranged in the roof area of the interior above the side windows to protect the passengers of the motor vehicle with an airbag cushion inflated like a curtain in the event of an accident.
[0047] These known airbag apparatuses are available in various sizes and embodiments, and are adapted to the specific, intended mounting location and / or intended use in the interior of the vehicle.
[0048] Although, the airbags play a vital role in protecting the passengers, the air bags do not protect the vehicle from damage.
[0049] Present invention discloses a mechanism 206 for providing safety to the vehicle 202 during the accident. The mechanism 206 may be described in details in Fig. 3. As illustrated in Fig. 3, the mechanism 206 may comprise a plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 installed within chassis of the vehicle 202. The plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may be provided beneath a bonnet of the vehicle 202. The plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may be fitted parallel to earth in the direction of the vehicle 202. The plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may be configured to pushed out for reducing the shock experienced due to the accident.
[0050] The mechanism 206 may further comprise a highly pressurized air cylinder 304 connected to the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302. The highly pressurized air cylinder 304 pushes the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 upon detection of the accident. The highly pressurized air cylinder 304 may be push plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 at very high speed (in milli seconds). When the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 is pushed out, the vehicle 202 may be pushed back with a force during the accident. As a result, the shock produced due to the accident is reduced with very high level. The plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may be attached with a hard bar 308 with both sides in the shape of bumper externally. In another implementation, other type of rod may be utilized which give shape to the vehicle 202 as a bumper externally but on the same time of impact, the bumper type or another type of hard bar 308 comes out, attached with both side bumper and give back push to the vehicle 202 during the accident. As a result, the shock may be reduced.
[0051] The mechanism 206 may further comprise one or more sensors 306 communicatively coupled with the highly pressurized air cylinder 304. The one or more sensors 306 may detect occurrence of the accident of the vehicle 202.
[0052] During the accident, the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may provide an elastic effect to the vehicle 202 during the accident. After collision, the hard bar 308 may be positioned into reset position using an elastic hook or a valve. In such way, the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may be situated into its initial position. The air pressure in the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may come from compressor of the vehicle 202. In another implementation, the air pressure in the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may come from another air pressure source installed in the vehicle 202. The plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may be activated at a force of at least 50 km / h from the object 204.
[0053] The dimension and the pre-defined pressure of the plurality of heavy-duty pistons 302 may depend upon a type of the vehicle 202 and / or a maximum speed of the vehicle.
[0054] In an embodiment, the mechanism 206 may be installed in front and / or back portion of the vehicle 202. The mechanism 206 may be fitted under the front bonnet and the back bonnet of the vehicle 202. The mechanism 206 may be installed by cutting a portion (for example, 1’ from the front and the back). The Mechanism 206 may not be visible from the outside.
[0055] As according to an embodiment of the invention, the process how the system works include Start: The flow diagram begins with the start symbol, indicating the start of the mechanism for providing safety to a vehicle.Sensors: One or more sensors are placed within the vehicle and are connected to the highly pressurized air cylinder.Accident Detection: The sensors detect the occurrence of an accident.Air Cylinder Control: Upon detecting an accident, the sensors communicate with the highly pressurized air cylinder to release the air at high pressure.Heavy-Duty Pistons Deployment: The released pressurized air from the air cylinder pushes the heavy-duty pistons to deploy.Piston Activation: The heavy-duty pistons are activated when the force of the accident reaches a threshold (e.g., 50 km / h).Vehicle Impact: The deployed heavy-duty pistons push out from the body of the vehicle, reducing the impact forces and pushing the vehicle back to minimize damage.Piston Locking: An electromagnetic lock is used to secure the heavy-duty pistons in the deployed position, ensuring they remain extended during the accident.End: The flow diagram ends, indicating the completion of the mechanism for providing safety to the vehicle.
[0056] In another embodiment, the mechanism 206 may be installed at center of the front bonnet as well as the back bonnet of the vehicle 202. The mechanism 206 may comprise one or more rods installed on top and / or bottom of the front bonnet and the back bonnet of the vehicle 202 so that when the vehicle 202 collides with a heavy vehicle, the one or more rods may open to reduce the shock experienced due to the accident.
[0057] In conclusion, the mechanism described herein provides an enhanced safety system for vehicles by reducing the shock experienced during accidents. The use of heavy-duty pistons, highly pressurized air cylinders, and sensors enables the quick deployment of safety measures, resulting in reduced impact forces, minimized damage, and increased occupant safety.
[0058] The present invention provides several advantages over existing safety mechanisms for vehicles:
[0059] Enhanced Safety: The mechanism significantly enhances the safety of vehicles by reducing the shock experienced during accidents. By deploying heavy- duty pistons, the impact forces are effectively reduced, minimizing damage to the vehicle and potential injuries to the occupants.
[0060] Quick Deployment: The mechanism utilizes highly pressurized air cylinders and sensors to enable rapid deployment of the heavy-duty pistons upon detecting an accident. This quick response time ensures that the safety measures are activated promptly, providing immediate protection to the vehicle and its occupants.
[0061] Impact Force Reduction: The heavy-duty pistons, when pushed out from the vehicle's body, effectively push the vehicle back during an accident. This action helps to reduce the impact forces and the resulting damage, contributing to improved safety and potentially saving lives.
[0062] Flexible Adaptability: The mechanism can be adapted to different vehicle models and driving conditions. The dimension and pressure of the heavy-duty pistons can be customized based on the type of vehicle and average speed. This flexibility allows for optimal safety performance across a range of vehicle types and driving scenarios.
[0063] Secure Deployment: The use of an electromagnetic lock ensures that the heavy-duty pistons remain extended and locked in position during an accident. This secure deployment guarantees that the safety mechanism remains effective throughout the duration of the incident, reducing the momentum and kinetic energy involved.
[0064] Stability in Normal Driving: The initial position of the heavy-duty pistons is maintained using an elastic hook or a valve. This design feature ensures that theheavy-duty pistons remain stable and ready for deployment during an accident while not interfering with normal driving conditions.
[0065] Supplementary Safety System: The mechanism described in the invention acts as a supplementary safety system that complements existing safety features such as airbags and seat belts. By reducing the shock and impact forces experienced during accidents, it provides an additional layer of protection to enhance occupant safety.
[0066] Whether or not a certain feature or element was limited to being used only once, either way, it may still be referred to as “one or more features” or “one or more elements” or “at least one feature” or “at least one element.” Furthermore, the use of the terms “one or more” or “at least one” feature or element do not preclude there being none of that feature or element, unless otherwise specified by limiting language such as “there needs to be one or more . . . ” or “one or more element is required.” Unless otherwise defined, all terms, and especially any technical and / or scientific terms, used herein may be taken to have the same meaning as commonly understood by one having ordinary skills in the art.
[0067] The figures and the forgoing description give examples of embodiments. Those skilled in the art will appreciate that one or more of the described elements may well be combined into a single functional element.
