[0066] The disclosure will now be described more specifically with reference to the following embodiments. It is to be noted that the following descriptions of some embodiments are presented herein for purpose of illustration and description only. It is not intended to be exhaustive or to be limited to the precise form disclosed.

[0067] FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram illustrating the structure of a related light emitting substrate. FIG. 2 is a schematic diagram illustrating a light emitting element bonded to a related light emitting substrate. Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the light emitting substrate in some embodiments includes one or more pads SP configured to be soldered with one or more contact pads of a light emitting element. The one or more pads SP are connected to one or more signal lines. In one example, the one or more signal lines include a first signal line SL1 and a second signal line SL2. Referring to FIG. 2, a light emitting element LED is bonded to the one or more pads SP. In the related display panel and the fabrication process of the related display panel, an orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on a base substrate completely covers an orthographic projection of the one or more pads SP on the base substrate. Thus, the soldering status of the light emitting element LED after reflow soldering cannot be observed through automated optical inspection. In the related display panel and the fabrication process of the related display panel, there is a risk that the light emitting element LED may have solder voids or insufficient wetting due to insufficient solder or poor wetting properties. This leads to issues such as light emitting element malfunction caused by poor soldering in later use or reliability processes, impacting production yield and customer satisfaction.

[0068] Accordingly, the present disclosure provides, inter alia, a light emitting substrate and a method of fabricating a light emitting substrate that substantially obviate one or more of the problems due to limitations and disadvantages of the related art. In one aspect, the present disclosure provides a light emitting substrate. In some embodiments, the light emitting substrate includes a base substrate; one or more pads on the base substrate; one or more insulating layers on a side of the one or more pads away from the base substrate, wherein, in a  region having the one or more pads, the one or more insulating layers are absent, forming one or more vias through the one or more insulating layers; one or more solders on a side of the one or more pads away from the base substrate; and a light emitting element bonded to the one or more pads through at least the one or more solders at least partially in the one or more vias. Optionally, a respective pad of the one or more pads comprises a first main body and a respective first portion connected to the first main body. Optionally, an orthographic projection of the light emitting element on the base substrate substantially covers an orthographic projection of the first main body on the base substrate. Optionally, an orthographic projection of the respective first portion on the base substrate is substantially non-overlapping with the orthographic projection of the light emitting element on the base substrate.

[0069] FIG. 3 illustrates an optical inspection of a light emitting element bonded to a light emitting substrate in some embodiments according to the present disclosure. FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view along an A-A’ line in FIG. 3. FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view along a B-B’ line in FIG. 3. Referring to FIG. 3 to FIG. 5, in the optical inspection of the light emitting element bonded to the light emitting substrate, a white oil WO is applied on the surface of the light emitting substrate with a window in which the white oil WO is absent. A lens LEN is placed on top of the white oil WO and over the window, allowing optical inspection of the bonding between the light emitting element LED and the light emitting substrate.

[0070] In one particular example, edges of the white oil WO surrounding the window is spaced apart from the light emitting element LED by a distance greater than 50 μm to allow sufficient process production margin, for example, to avoid the white oil WO contaminating the one or more pads SP, and to prevent the white oil WO from interfering with the bonding of the light emitting element LED to the light emitting substrate.

[0071] In some embodiments, the light emitting substrate includes a base substrate BS; a buffer layer BUF on the base substrate BS; one or more signal lines (e.g., a first signal line SL1 and a second signal line SL2) and one or more pads SP on a side of the buffer layer BUF away from the base substrate BS, the one or more pads SP connected to one or more signal lines; a passivation layer PVX on a side of the one or more signal lines away from the base substrate BS, and an overcoat layer OC on a side of the passivation layer PVX away from the base substrate BS.

[0073] In some embodiments, one or more solders SD are disposed on a side of the one or more pads SP away from the base substrate BS. A respective solder of the one or more solders SD is in direct contact with a respective pad of the one or more pads SP.

[0074] In some embodiments, a light emitting element LED is bonded to the one or more pads SP through the one or more solders SD. The light emitting element LED is in direct contact with the one or more solders SD. In one example, one or more contact pads of the light emitting element LED is bonded to the one or more pads SP through the one or more solders SD at least partially in the one or more vias. In another example, the one or more contact pads of the light emitting element LED includes an N-contact pad and a P-contact pad. A respective contact pad of the one or more contact pads is in direct contact with a respective solder of the one or more solders SD.

[0075] In some embodiments, an orthographic projection of the one or more pads SP on a base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with an orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS. Optionally, an orthographic projection of a respective pad of the one or more pads SP on the base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with the orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS.

[0076] In some embodiments, an orthographic projection of one or more first portions of the one or more pads SP on the base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with (e.g., completely non-overlapping with) an orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS. Optionally, an orthographic projection of a respective first portion of a respective pad of the one or more pads SP on the base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with (e.g., completely non-overlapping with) the orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS.

[0077] In some embodiments, an orthographic projection of the one or more solders SD on a base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with the orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS. Optionally, an orthographic projection of a respective solder of the one or more solders SD on the base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with the orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS.

[0078] In some embodiments, an orthographic projection of one or more second portions of the one or more solders SD on the base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with (e.g., completely non-overlapping with) the orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS. Optionally, an orthographic projection of a respective second portion of a respective solder of the one or more solders SD on the base substrate BS is  at least partially non-overlapping with (e.g., completely non-overlapping with) the orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS.

[0079] The inventors of the present disclosure discover that, because the orthographic projection of the one or more first portions of the one or more pads SP on the base substrate BS is at least partially non-overlapping with (e.g., completely non-overlapping with) an orthographic projection of the light emitting element LED on the base substrate BS, the one or more second portions of the one or more solders SD extend to a region corresponding to the one or more first portions of the one or more pads SP during the process of bonding the light emitting element LED to the one or more pads SP. During the optical inspection of the bonding between the light emitting element LED and the light emitting substrate, if no solder is detected on the one or more first portions of the one or more pads SP, it indicates the bonding between the light emitting element LED and the light emitting substrate may be defective. The optical inspection system may intervene and prevent the defective product from proceeding downstream, thus avoiding waste of labor and material. The inventors of the present disclosure discover that by having this unique structure, production efficiency can be significantly enhanced.

[0116] The inventors of the present disclosure discover that a respective pad having a respective first portion having a half circle shape has several advantages. First, the solder paste has better flowability when applied on the respective pad having the respective first portion having the half circle shape, making it easier to monitor the soldering status to determine if there is insufficient solder. Second, it is easier to control the formation of a half-circle-shaped opening in the one or more insulating layers in order to form the respective pad, and it is less likely to produce etching residues. Similarly, a respective pad having a respective first portion having a third quarter circle shape has similar advantages.

[0117] In some embodiments, the respective pad has a substantially (e.g., at least 80%, at least 85%, at least 90%, at least 95%, at least 99%, or 100%) mirror symmetry with respect to a plane perpendicular to a surface of the base substrate and intersecting the respective first portion and the first main body. For example, the respective first portion is connected to a central point of a side of the first main body. This structure is conducive for automated optical inspection as the camera is positioned directly above the light emitting element for convenient photographic monitoring.

[0118] In alternative embodiments, the respective pad lacks a mirror symmetry, and the respective first portion adjacent to a point away from the central point of the side of the first  main body. FIG. 30 is a schematic diagram illustrating the structure of one or more pads in some embodiments according to the present disclosure. Referring to FIG. 30, a first central line CL1 of the respective first portion P1 is spaced apart from a second central line CL2 of the first main body MB1 by a distance d greater than zero. Optionally, the distance d is greater than at least 10% (e.g., at least 15%, at least 20%, at least 25%, at least 30%, at least 35%, or at least 40%) of a length of a side S of the first main body MB1 connected to the respective first portion P1.

[0120] In some embodiments, an orthographic projection of the light emitting element bonded to the light emitting substrate on the base substrate substantially covers (e.g., covers at least 70%, covers at least 75%, covers at least 80%, covers at least 85%, covers at least 90%, covers at least 95%, covers at least 99%, or completely covers) an orthographic projection of the main portion MP on the base substrate; and an orthographic projection of the additional portion AP on the base substrate is substantially non-overlapping (e.g., at least 70%non-overlapping, at least 75%non-overlapping, at least 80%non-overlapping, at least 85%non-overlapping, at least 90%non-overlapping, at least 95%non-overlapping, at least 99%non-overlapping, or completely non-overlapping) with the orthographic projection of the light emitting element bonded to the light emitting substrate on the base substrate.

[0121] In some embodiments, a cross-section of the main portion MP along a plane intersecting the main portion MP and the additional portion AP and parallel to a surface of the base substrate has a regular polygonal shape, e.g., a rectangular or square shape.

[0122] The additional portion AP may have various appropriate shapes. In the example depicted in FIG. 31, a cross-section of the additional portion AP along a plane intersecting the main portion MP and the additional portion AP and parallel to a surface of the base substrate has a partial circle shape, e.g., a half circle shape.

[0123] In alternative embodiments, a cross-section of the additional portion AP along a plane intersecting the main portion MP and the additional portion AP and parallel to a surface of the base substrate has a rectangular shape.

[0124] In alternative embodiments, a cross-section of the additional portion AP along a plane intersecting the main portion MP and the additional portion AP and parallel to a surface of the base substrate has a trapezoidal shape.

[0125] In alternative embodiments, a cross-section of the additional portion AP along a plane intersecting the main portion MP and the additional portion AP and parallel to a surface of the base substrate has a partial elliptical shape, e.g., a half elliptical shape.
