Abstract

A mobile communication system capable of providing data quickly (in a quasi-real-time) for use in investigating a population distribution in geographical areas. A radio network control apparatus (300) performs a position measurement calculation, in a periodic manner or upon occurrence of a transmission / position registration request, to determine where in which sector of which one of base stations(200) each of a plurality of mobile machines (100) is existent. The radio network control apparatus (300) then transmits a message including the position to an exchange machine (400). The exchange machine (400) then transmits information, which includes the time point when the position measurement was performed, to an information analyzing apparatus (600). The information analyzing apparatus (600) holds the position, time point and position measurement opportunity type for each of a plurality of user IDs; calculates, based on the held position, time point and position measurement opportunity type, the position where each mobile machine (100) was probably existent at a time point for which a distribution needs to be determined; and associates the calculated positions with corresponding areas, thereby plotting the positions as the population distribution.
