Abstract

Certain aspects of the present disclosure present a technique for efficient group definition and overloading for downlink multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmissions. The disclosure includes a method for wireless communication comprising: indicating to each of a plurality of devices a location of the device in each of a plurality of groups to assign one or more spatial streams generating a preamble comprising a first field with y bits, the first field identifying a group for receiving simultaneous data transmissions in the plurality of groups of up to 2y; and sending at least a portion of the preamble having the first field to the devices prior to the simultaneous data transmission for the selected set of devices, wherein each device in the set is assigned the simultaneous data The transmitted one or more spatial streams are specified by the portion of the preamble and the indicated position of the device within the group.

Description

[0001] Claimed Priority Based on 35 U.S.C.S.119 [0002] This patent application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 61 / 328,314, entitled "Efficient groupdefinition and overloading for multiuser MIMO transmissions," filed April 27, 2010, which has been assigned to the recipient of this application. are hereby expressly incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] In general, certain aspects of the invention relate to wireless communications, and in particular, to a method for efficient group definition and overloading for multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) transmissions. Background technique [0004] In order to address the increasing bandwidth demand required for wireless communication systems, different schemes are being deployed to allow multiple user terminals to communicate with a single access point by sharing channel resources and simultaneously achieve high data throughput. Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (...
