The invention discloses a method and device for web page rendering by an IE (Internet Explorer) kernel browser. The IE kernel browser is internally provided with at least two versions of IE kernels and comprises a first mapping table which is used for storing mapping relations among web pages and the IE kernel versions. The method comprises the following steps of: presetting a second mapping table which is used for storing mapping relations among specific web pages and the IE kernel versions; receiving a web page access request, and then monitoring the request for selecting the IE kernel versions; intercepting the request for selecting the IE kernel versions to prevent the operation of inquiring the first mapping table; determining a website of a target web page corresponding to the request for selecting the IE kernel versions, and finding out a target IE kernel versions corresponding to the website of the target web page from the second mapping table; and performing rendering on the target web page by using the target IE kernel versions. The method and the device disclosed by the invention can improve the rendering efficiency of the browser based on the ID kernel.
