Abstract

Systems and methods for flexible spectrum or bandwidth support in cellular communication networks are disclosed. In one embodiment, the base station of the cellular communication network is configured to transmit the non-normalized bandwidth carrier and information identifying the normalized bandwidth and additional information defining the non-normalized bandwidth of the non-normalized bandwidth carrier together with the information identifying the normalized bandwidth. In one embodiment, the additional information defines bandwidth adjustments for normalized bandwidths, which define non-normalized bandwidths. In one embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is a symmetric bandwidth constraint. In another embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is an asymmetric bandwidth constraint. In yet another embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is symmetric bandwidth expansion. In yet another embodiment, the bandwidth adjustment is asymmetric bandwidth expansion.
