Abstract

A controller and method for determining a logical topology of communication resources for providing a service solution. Controllers include function identifiers, graph generators and mappers. The identifier is coupled to a service level description (SLD) associating a service with at least one service type and a network function library (NF), and identifies at least one NF in the library for each service type. A generator is coupled to the SLD and a repository of raw service level graphs (SLGs) representing at least one data flow between directly coupled resource entities, and associates the at least one raw SLG with each identified NF. The mapper is coupled to the service level description and the mapping of the network infrastructure elements, and maps at least one resource entity of the original SLG onto the available network infrastructure elements.
